Dis-(V) reported that there's a new LotR fan movie: "Rise of the Fellowship" and gave us the Facebook page. Most of the Facebook is about various fan movies, can be fun. Rise is for sale on Amazon.
These reviews on Rotten Tomatoes tell us that it's about a group of nerd friends, who play LotRO together, trying to make it to a LOTR Online convention to compete. Their adventures parallel the story events.

Erkenbrand-(V) was scouted by his brother, Lenwe-(V). Erkenbrand plays LotRO and may return sometimes to SWTOR because he likes Star Wars.  He's read the H, LotR, and the Sil.
"I liked Beregond. I watched the movies first, so an entirely new character was rather refreshing. I liked his courage and willingness to go against the will of Denethor in order to save Faramir, even if it meant spilling blood in the forbidden area."

    Varda is back.

The previous two Sunday meetings are now up for viewing, sent in by Arien-(Valar) who also handled chairing duties.

A recommendation has been made by Pallando-(Valar) that we change our meetings from AIM to another program, as AIM has been unreliable recently and some versions will no longer be supported. Please sent email comments, suggestions to Varda.  Pallando's suggestions for new meeting platforms are below:
"Discord is missing a few features that I'd like to see, but is more than complete enough for what we need.
"Slack isn't meant for us, really, but will work just fine. I think either of these options (or our own hosted HipChat or similar) would make it far easier for folks to join and participate in the meetings.

    Gaming / LotRO:
Letter from Exec Producer Vyvyanne, Data Center Update:
Dear Players,
Now that we have been in the new datacenter in New Jersey on the new hardware for several weeks now, we have learned a lot about how our service works with domestic and international ISPs. Early efforts at tuning have been showing progress, leading to measurable improvement in latency for both US and EU players. Based on this early information we believe that players will be best served by us focusing on improvements to the new datacenter, rather than moving the EU servers to Amsterdam.

Going forward we’ll continue to work on with the technology team at our datacenter as well as key regional ISPs to improve the performance of LOTRO for all players worldwide. The next step of this process will have us on a new routing system in the next few weeks. This is expected to improve performance for players in much of the EU, and certain parts of North America as well.

For those players experiencing issues in PvMP we are adding in client side optimizations with Update 18 that we hope will lessen the strain on client and server alike when in battles with large groups. We are also looking into the cause of client crashes when traveling and changing instances. We will continue to optimize the configurations of our servers to improve service stability. These efforts will not be over night, but should improve the situation over time so that your play experience will be even better than it was prior to the move.

Once again we thank you for your patience and understanding while we work through this construction.
Thank you,
Athena “Vyvyanne” Peters”

Goldilocks was introduced to Varda by a mutual friend, Lerillos. Goldilocks is 44, time zone EST, country USA. She's online most nights and weekends. She came from another server that was closed, is the founder and leader of Thorin's Vanguard, and brought those she could of her kin to Landroval. She's in the process of making a character to join our Landroval kin, as she's especially interesed in our lore aspect.  LotRO is her only game.
She's read the H and LotR.  A favorite character for her is Samwise Gamgee. "Samwise embodied everything thats best in a hoobit, or anyone for that matter." That's why she chose one of Sam's daughters.

"Thranduil" Art challenge to draw in a cartoon fashion, more comments by the artist on the page for Thranduil.

    Tolkien Site / Tolkien

In his honor, the Tolkien Society started "The Toast". At 9pm your local time, the Tolkien fan stands, says "The Professor", and takes a drink (does not need to be alcohol).

    Gaming / LotRO:
The kin house now has new crafting facilities added to our workbench - study (Gorlim-V), forge, oven (Dis-V), and supplier. We considered adding farmland (offered by Dis-V) but found no more major instance trophies of the right size that we were willing to sacrifice to add it. We're hoping for more hooks after the new server is installed for Landroval, but if this doesn't happen, something is going to be removed with unfortunate permanence, as the items will revert to members who no longer play. Or we could run the instances again...  :)

Rather short and to the point (ouch!).

A little longer – here’s Boromir’s sword put to the test…

Don’t stand in front of Boromir  .. .you will be sliced & diced….  No wonder Uruk-Hai fell over ….
Fun, games and slicery….
