[4:28 PM]Arien Valar: on my Sith warrior .. yeah quite fun for a change actually]

[4:30 PM]Varda: We haven't had that for a while in LotRO. Amarthiel I think was the last one.

[4:31 PM]Earendil: So these events are new, but designed as limited time only? Might they bring them back later or no word on that?

[4:31 PM]Arien Valar: i think you have a limited time to complete them

[4:32 PM]Arien Valar: thats how i understood them

[4:32 PM]Earendil: Ah. Sounds cool!

[4:32 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Are they recurring?

[4:33 PM]Varda: Usually such events have something to do with the ongoing storyline. Not sure about SWtOR.

[4:33 PM]Arien Valar: i haven t found out yet and i havent seen them on aldaraan

[4:33 PM]Arien Valar: which is a level 30 ish planet

[4:34 PM]Arien Valar: and Drommund Kaas which is lvl 12 to 20 has them

[4:34 PM]Arien Valar: so maybe a low level area limited thing and they seem to be recurring

[4:35 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Heh. Considering kaas is dutch for cheese, that kinda sounds like a cheese brand.

[4:35 PM]Arien Valar: lol

[4:36 PM]Varda: Cheesy subject.

[4:36 PM]Earendil: It's probably been hard for them to push story advances as a game mechanism when they update canon with new series.

[4:37 PM]Arien Valar: but in Swotr you can do low level stuff as high level as your own level gets scaled down

[4:37 PM]Varda: Maybe throw one in as the new stuff comes out in the movies and TV.

[4:37 PM]Sandalf13: A lot of English words that begin with "Ch" are derived from Old English words beginning with "K"....so "cheese" comes fomr "Kaes," the O.E. word for modern "cheese."

[4:37 PM]Léod

[44th], : They've done this before, right?

[4:37 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Is that how they handle Star Trek Online as well?

[4:38 PM]Arien Valar: no not really

[4:39 PM]Arien Valar: mind you i havent logged in that for donkey times hehe but from my ealier adventures there the game is set a few hundred years after the t v series and you quesrt through various episodes

[4:40 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: aha

[4:42 PM]Earendil: With androids as a race?

[4:43 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Synths in the Picard era? Hmm...

[4:44 PM]Léod

[44th], : The second season of Picard was set in 2401 and the game picks up in 2409.

[4:44 PM]Earendil: Awesome!

[4:44 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: So are synths allowed again?

[4:45 PM]Earendil: They might be rare, but they had a whole race of datas....dat...data's based? There were a bunch of em.

[4:45 PM]Léod

[44th], : It's a touchy thing. They are working on it. Technically no, but there are more exceptions. Some AI is considered sentient and therefore cannot just be destroyed for existing.

[4:46 PM]Eönwë Valar: Dati?

[4:46 PM]Earendil: What's the plural for androids...Yes that seems like it!

[4:46 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Dataii?

[4:46 PM]Earendil: 🤣

[4:46 PM]Arien Valar: you either play as starfleet or romulan or as Klingons which has a different start

[4:47 PM]Sandalf13: Klingons have a super language.

[4:47 PM]Léod

[44th], : Each faction has multiple races.

[4:47 PM]Earendil: Have you read Shakespeare in it?

[4:47 PM]Treebeard: The Klingons would have no problem with "bombing" them from orbit, then using the planets resources.... you think?

[4:48 PM]Sandalf13: No...I am not so proficient....but it sounds very Germanic, yes?

[4:48 PM]Sandalf13: I do now a few phrases, however.

[4:48 PM]Earendil: That's cool, so multiple in faction options? (Yes it is actually deeply guttural right?)

[4:48 PM]Léod

[44th], : The only issues that would face is whether the Klingons thought that they were worth enslaving, or whether they were too much trouble.

[4:48 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: There's klingons on the starboard bow, scrape em off, Jim!

[4:48 PM]Sandalf13: Ach ja.

[4:49 PM]Earendil: The klingons get pretty monastic order of warriors in picard.

[4:49 PM]Léod

[44th], : And what individual Klingons do is not always something that the actual ruling counsel would allow.

[4:49 PM]Treebeard: 🙂

[4:50 PM]Earendil: True. Orc politics.

[4:50 PM]Léod

[44th], : Only one planet has those though.

[4:57 PM]Earendil: OUCH.

[4:57 PM]Varda: After seeing the movies, it's easy to lose track of what actually happened in the books. And there is a lot to unpack in these scenes.

[4:58 PM]Varda: Return of the King, Ch. 4 "The Siege of Gondor"

[4:58 PM]Varda: Quote:

[In rode the Lord of the Nazgul. A great black shape against the fires beyond he loomed up, grown to a vast menace of despair. In rode the Lord of the Nazgul, under the archway that no enemy ever yet had passed, and all fled before his face.

[All save one. There waiting, silent and still in the space before the Gate, sat Gandalf upon Shadowfax: Shadowfax who alone among the free horses of the earth endured the terror, unmoving, steadfast as a graven image in Rath Dinen.

["You cannot enter here," said Gandalf, and the huge shadow halted. "Go back to the abyss prepared for you! Go back! Fall into the nothingness that awaits you and your Master. Go!"

[The Black Rider flung back his hood, and behold! he had a kingly crown; yet upon no head visible was it set. The red fires shown between it and the mantled shoulders vast and dark. From a mouth unseen there came a deadly laughter.

["Old fool!" he said. "Old fool! This is my hour. Do you not know Death when you see it? Die now and curse in vain!" And he lifted high his sword and flames ran down the blade.

[Gandalf did not move. And in that very moment, away behind in some courtyard of the City, a cock crowed. Shrill and clear he crowed, recking nothing of wizardry or war, welcoming only the morning that in the sky far above the shadows of death was coming with the dawn.

[And as if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns. In dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the North wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.

[4:59 PM]Varda: End quote.

[4:59 PM]Varda: The next part is two chapters later!

[4:59 PM]Sandalf13: Unlike the Jackson movies, Gandalf was NOT unhorsed by the Witch King...

[5:00 PM]Varda: Aye. And his staff was not broken.

[5:00 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Aye, was thinking of the staff 😄

[5:00 PM]Léod

[44th], : Dang, you beat me too it!

[5:00 PM]Varda: Only Gandalf had that authority on Middle-earth.

[5:00 PM]Léod

[44th], : to even.

[5:00 PM]Varda: We were all thinking it!

[5:00 PM]Sandalf13: Sort of ironic for the Witch King to say to Gandalf..."Old fool! Old Fool!" After all, he was pretty old too, yes?

[5:01 PM]Varda: It seems as if he didn't quite realize who he was talking to. Gandalf the White.

[5:01 PM]Sandalf13: Like the pot calling the kettle black.

[5:01 PM]Varda: Gandalf had gone from Advisor to warrior.

[5:01 PM]Léod

[44th], : OR he knew exactly who and what Gandalf was.

[5:01 PM]Varda: Aye, could be.

[5:01 PM]Varda: The Witch-king was not nearly as old as Gandalf. Human, not Maia.

[5:02 PM]Varda: Still old though.

[5:02 PM]Earendil: Love the group enthusiasm. Maybe his comment reflects on him being blind to Gandalfs true power?

[5:02 PM]Earendil: Only able to see the exterior?

[5:02 PM]Varda: Seems like.

[5:02 PM]Sandalf13: True...but he was still old....and much, much older than any living humans. I wonder how Sauron was able to help him hang on to his life so long...

[5:02 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: It would reflect on him knowing Gandalf's true age, though!

[5:02 PM]Varda: The rings they were given and that Sauron held.

[5:03 PM]Varda: Butter scraped over too much bread.

[5:04 PM]Sandalf13: You are right...but just think, that had to be a pretty powerful display of Sauron's power to extend a human life - given to Men by Iluvatar himself - for so long. SOrt of goes beyond reason.

[5:04 PM]Varda: Hope arises as the cock crows.

[5:04 PM]Léod

[44th], : It's possible, but I like to think of it as he saw himself at the height of his power and Gandalf, even being what he was, had no power over him.

[5:04 PM]Sandalf13: "And dawn is ever the hope of Men."

[5:04 PM]Earendil: When the shaping of matter was a concert you saw once, it's probably easier to adjust simple electron functions like an electrical field. Maybe the wraiths are just semi sentient suffering a.i. copies in a certain light.

[5:04 PM]Varda: Bilbo and Frodo and Gollum also had life extension.

[@44th],

[5:04 PM]Earendil: Good point.

[5:05 PM]Varda: It's all in the music, aye!

[5:05 PM]Varda: True, the Witch-king was at his height, and hubris was setting in a bit.

[5:06 PM]Varda: RotK, Ch. 6 "The Battle of the Pelennor Fields"

[5:06 PM]Varda: This quote takes up right after that scene. Can make a person want to flip back!

[But it was no orc-chieftain or brigand that led the assault upon Gondor. The darkness was breaking too soon, before the date that his Master had set for it: fortune had betrayed him for the moment, and the world had turned against him; victory was slipping from his grasp even as he stretched out his hand to seize it. But his arm was long. He was still in command, wielding great powers. King, Ringwraith, Lord of the Nazgul, he had many weapons. He left the Gate and vanished.

[5:07 PM]Varda: End quote.

[5:07 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And then he got beat up by a girl.

[5:07 PM]Varda: He knew he had another place that he needed to be, and didn't let the confrontation with Gandalf stop him. He had some self-control.

[5:07 PM]Varda: hehe

[5:07 PM]Sandalf13: And a hobbit.

[5:08 PM]Varda: Not a quote but my synopsis for brevity:

[5:08 PM]Varda: Theoden leads the charge of the Rohirrim. By spear he kills the chieftain, by sword he kills the bearer of the standard of the black serpent. (This is what he refers to later, not meaning the Nazgul's mount.)

[5:08 PM]Varda: The Lord of the Nazgul calls his fell beast before the darkness fails and flies to Theoden and kills him. Eowyn beheads the fell beast, then she and Meriadoc kill the Lord of the Nazgul. Eowyn falls and Theoden does not see her, his farewell given to Merry.

[5:08 PM]Varda: Done. : )

[5:09 PM]Earendil: Sad but accurate synopsis.

[5:10 PM]Varda: Theoden gets the honorable death that he wanted. He did not have the sorrow of seeing Eowyn hurt.

[5:10 PM]Léod

[44th], : Great scene, both in the books and the movie.

[5:10 PM]Earendil: Aye.

[5:10 PM]Varda: Aye. They are not the same, but both are respectful of the subject.

[44th],

[5:11 PM]Earendil: ....and aye again.

[5:11 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Agreed!

[5:11 PM]Varda: Have to call...

After-meeting:

[5:11 PM]Varda: After-meeting!

[5:11 PM]Varda: but we can still chat, those of us able to stay.

[5:11 PM]Sandalf13: That entire segment is one of the most moving vignetts in the entire LoTR, at least for me...

[5:11 PM]Arien Valar: have to yawn ....

[5:11 PM]Léod

[44th], : “The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.”

[5:11 PM]Varda: The Sun needs to set.

[5:11 PM]Varda: Well-quoted

[5:12 PM]Earendil: 100 percent!

[5:12 PM]Varda: I must be in agreement, as the culprit that picked the scene. : )

[5:12 PM]Arien Valar: fantastic quote m Keid

[5:13 PM]Arien Valar: Leod

[5:13 PM]Varda: The rising sun, the cock crowing uncaring of battles. The horns calling. And so many other great parts.

[5:13 PM]Léod

[44th], : Thank you! But of course the Professor gets the credit. LOL!

[5:13 PM]Varda: Foreshadowing with song and light.

[5:13 PM]Varda: Aye, and good pick!

[5:14 PM]Léod

[5:15 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie!

[5:15 PM]Léod

[44th], : Namarie, I have to go soon too, but I want to say here that the scene on Youtube has 50 million views.

[@44th],

[5:16 PM]Earendil: Wow. Superbowl numbers.

[5:16 PM]Varda: Well-deserved!

[5:16 PM]Léod

[44th], : Aye!

[5:16 PM]Earendil: Better actually...

[5:16 PM]Sandalf13: There you go...

[5:16 PM]Varda: 50 million - wow

[5:16 PM]Léod

[44th], : See you folks later! Have a great evening!

[5:16 PM]Earendil: It's just iconic.

[5:16 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Sneaky hobbitses in all those pictures.

[5:16 PM]Earendil: 😄

[5:17 PM]Earendil: I'm gone. Have fun guys! Namarie!

[5:17 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie!

[5:17 PM]Sandalf13: Namarie to all! And to all a Namarie!

[5:17 PM]Varda: Happy gaming, reading, working, and sleeping!

[5:17 PM]Arien Valar: Namarie ! and all the best for Meriadoc V and Xavier .. hope all goes well for them

[5:18 PM]Varda: Thank you, Arien!

[5:21 PM]Eönwë Valar: YouTube - Murat Selamet - Return of the King (1980) - Eowyn vs Witchking

[5:22 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Wew! Hit level 90 just before the meeting and just now managed to grab the 330 trading post points I still needed 😄

[5:22 PM]Eönwë Valar: Congrats :}

[5:22 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Thanks 🙂 Was a close one!

[5:23 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Tomorrow I'll start delving and preying and hoping I still have time for both seasons.

[5:28 PM]Eönwë Valar: You should. They have 12.0.7 coming to add another level of power so they can't be ending it toooo soon.

[5:29 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Great 🙂

[5:30 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And now we plunder the trading post. 2 new pets and a Bakar mount, good start.

[5:35 PM]Eönwë Valar: Wizard Duel of the Fates: YouTube - Stuffedy - Wizards' Duel of the Fates | Star Wars/Disney | Stuffedy Wars Mim and Merlin's duel set to Star Wars music.

[5:36 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: "She was going to destroy me." A good reminder the censors don't like the word kill 😄

[5:36 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I remember the same for the animated Spiderman series. It was always "destroy".

[7:08 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Pretty good. Had a tiring day with some in-game deadlines 🙂

[7:08 PM]Sandalf13: Sounds as if you succeeding spectacularly.

[7:09 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh yes, it all worked out.

[7:09 PM]Sandalf13: Great!

[7:09 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And how are you?

[7:09 PM]Sandalf13: We can shift to the individual conversation icon, if you are willing.

[7:09 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh, I don't mind. I'm sure people here might be interested in us 🙂

[7:10 PM]Sandalf13: Not me...you, for sure. I do talk with Varda quite a bit on the chat line.

[7:10 PM]Sandalf13: You are well aware that I am not at the level of gamer equal to the abilities of most of the Valar Guild members.

[7:11 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Yeah, but it's fine. We're interested in our members as well, game or no game.

[8:29 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Been chatting with Sandalf for a bit, and he gave me this picture to share, which he himself took on his naval journeys, approaching Norway. I thought you'd all appreciate as well! Image

[8:29 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Such a powerful sunset.

[June 1, 2026

[12:29 AM]Eönwë Valar: Very nice.

[12:36 AM]Eönwë Valar: The Theme Poll is now in the polls channel. I've enabled multiple answers, but I ask you stick to your top two.

[12:37 AM]Eönwë Valar: We'll see how it shakes out that way.

[12:39 AM]Eönwë Valar: Poll runs for two weeks. If it turns out we need another round we'll have another poll of the top choices where I'll limit it to one selection.

[12:39 AM]Eönwë Valar: Here's a link for you: polls

[5:08 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Right, let's just nap for a few hours, I thought... here I am, a few hours later than expected.

[5:09 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Personal gaming report:

[5:10 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For (non)flashgaming, a nice short logic puzzle game that I must've linked multiple times before, but I just like it 😄

[5:11 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: "Naboki" is a 3d disassembly where you have to remove pieces from a level by clicking on them, at which point they will fly off in the direction of the arrow on the surface you clicked, if nothing's in the way.

[5:13 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Rotate the board, rotate the pieces when available, and think your way through the proper order as you go! Also comes with levers, obstacles, and lines to connect as you go further on 🙂

[5:14 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And enjoy the music too!

[5:18 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Blizzard gaming:

[5:19 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone:

[Made it to level 100 exactly on the reward track 🙂 Considering the experience required drops after that, that's actually difficult timing!

[5:21 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got another tier 5 class set from it, and chose Avatar Anduin for priest. The other 3 remaining... just don't look that special. Guess we're a year off from needing new rewards 🙂

[5:24 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: There's a one-week quest event this time as a bit of an epilogue, Ruby Sanctum. For our WoW veterans they might recognize that as the small post-Lich King raid at the end of the Wrath expansion, complete with quests named after the 3 minibosses and final boss, Halion. Added now because of the building's role against Deathwing, I think, and featuring the black dragonflight making use of the chaos.

[5:25 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Befitting the mini-event, there are no unique coins or class skins to be got from this one, but mainly 4 class packs. Always nice to have new packs 🙂

[5:27 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Brawl is Deal Your Fate! You and your opponent discover random "fates" that affect both players for the rest of the game. Best strategy is to look up with the fates can be, as you'll always have a choice of 4 out of the possible 6, and focus your deck around one of them.

[5:28 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I chose to focus on the fate that switches health and attack on all minions every turn, and then built a deck of 0/x-health eggs that spawn more powerful minions, as well as the zerg minions that get permanent buffs, which start to build up when interacting with the effect.

[5:29 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Actually worked quite well 🙂

[5:38 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Warcraft Rumble:

[No new level, but a few new epics.

[5:39 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: June reward login season is about to begin, I can't quite remember what the new skin is at the end of it. Will see tomorrow.

[5:39 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Almost done with the pvp reward track, and got an epic core for my troubles there.

[5:40 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got another epic core from exchanging free rare cores as well, so that's nice 🙂

[5:42 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Making good heroic sigil progress. Defeated Cenarius with the remaining families, putting me at 159 sigils, and then started on Ysera. Heroic Ysera comes with an intermission of many spiderlings, and frequently sends waves of chimaeras as well. Really need some specialty minis for that.

[5:43 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got through it with alliance, horde and blackrock families, but ended up trying multiple leaders and their armies for horde, and ended up replacing a few minis temporarily to get it done.

[5:43 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: 2 more fights to complete the campaign, and then I suppose I should prepare for Onyxia!

[5:47 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For quality upgrades, 3 new minis to epic! Other than the 2 cores I mentioned, another also showed up as daily offer. The ones I upgrades aren't that useful to me, but always nice to have, with Smoke Bomb and Cheat Death some of my least used spells, and finally the leader Hogger! I remember wanting to focus on him as my main beast leader, but the cycle units for his effects are just too squishy for me. Still, he's epic now, which should help in the dungeon at least 🙂

[5:47 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: One leader remains un-epic'd.

[5:48 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW:

[5:48 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Many things, as I did some focusing there, trying to get stuff done before the end of the month, even at the cost of some sleep.

[5:49 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Completed Arator's journey, unlocking the Arcantina. Met a celebrity bear while there!

[Image

[5:51 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Then headed into the Voidstorm, completing all 3 main quest arcs and the necessary dungeons, finally completing the leveling experience.

[5:52 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: That got me about 5% away from level 90, but it did unlock world quests, so I did a few of those and reached max level! Endgame unlocked.

[5:53 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: That means delves and prey mechanics are up next for me, as well as getting enough gear upgrades to join my fellow raiders in the 3 raids. I wonder how long that will take, since I don't know yet what they want me to have 😄 Guess I can start doing the weekly quests now too, although mythic dungeons are probably out of my reach for now.

[5:55 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got a bunch of decors too along the way, getting my housing to level 5 and unlocking the circular evening room. I have been looking forward to that, and have been sprinkling some of the new Harandar decor in it behind my main chamber.

[5:56 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I'm now toying with the idea of making a circle of rooms based on the 6 cosmic forces, which should accommodate a lot of the different decor I've been collecting. This evening room would be based on life.

[5:58 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Anyway, after hitting 90 I had 330 points to collect for May's trading post before the day ended, so I examined the adventure journal, and found out that you get 200 points for 15 pet battles, so I took the fast way out and fought 15 level 1 pets in Elwynn Forest.

[6:02 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For the last 130 points I did a housing weekly quest to find some lost pets, completed 5 world quests, and bowed to a specific npc in the Special category. I don't know the significance, but it works 😄

[6:03 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And with the trading tender complete, I headed down to the Trading Post and bought some stuff!

[6:06 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got the Pyrewood Rebel Streetwear set as a free reward, and then bought 2 pets that were "returning" but actually only were available as promotion items before, the little ogre Parrlok and the little pitlord Lil Flameo. Also got the Brown-Furred Spiky Bakar mount, because it was cheap and who doesn't like riding a giant fluffy dog?

[6:08 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And then I bought a few fun appearances like the stylish black cap, crown of faded springflowers, and the scarred tabard of gilneas. I always collect the tabards. And I ended with buying the new Attire of the Gilneas Fox ensemble, which will work nicely with my white vulpera character Calswiffa that I plan to make one day!

[6:09 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Next week, endgame systems, oh boy! 😉

[6:09 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And that's my report for the week!

[6:09 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie 🙂
