Diablo 2 launched June 28, 2000 in the US and June 30 in the EU, and many of us jumped right in. It's only expansion, Lord of Destruction, launched June 29, 2001. The latest version of the original version is patch 1.14d.
The Middle-Earth mod, an unoffical mod created by Varaya and Khan, was released April 25, 2001. This mod created a rough story with a Middle-Earth theme for everything. The last version of the mod was v1.92 for Lord of Destruction patch 1.10.
