Before-meeting

Eonwë Valar09/22/2020
RE: Phar's quoting the Sil about Ungoliant a couple of weeks ago, which if I did it right, can be found here: https://discordapp.com/channels/98166064545804288/98425690877104128/754816266476453912(edited)
[5:44 AM]
"...and fleeing from the north she went down into Beleriand, and dwelt beneath Ered Gorgoroth, in that dark valley that was after called Nan Dungortheb, the Valley of Dreadful Death, because of the horror that she bred there. For other foul creatures of spider form had dwelt there since the days of the delving of Angband, and she mated with them, and devoured them; and even after Ungoliant her self departed, and went whither she would into the forgotten south of the world, her offspring abode there and wove their hideous webs..." -- "Of the Flight of the Noldor"(edited)
[5:49 AM]
Quoted in part by Varda at the time, but there's the full quote, so whichever reading of "passed away" one wants to read of Phar's quote, they were there when she left, and she did leave before her own death.
[5:52 AM]
Was reading that area of the Sil for reasons, so thought I'd throw it in here.
September 23, 2020

Eonwë Valar09/23/2020
Well, that settles it. Still need 9 Shadowfrost shards, and the amount of luck it would take get all of those in one run before I got to the Lich King is immense. If I managed to get Invincible at the same time, I would immediately run out and buy a lottery ticket.(edited)
[4:43 AM]
So more than likely, two more runs to complete Shadowmourne.
[4:45 AM]
On the upside, it looks like there are no more boss drops that provide my Paladin with a transmog left in Heroic 25-man ICC, so once I get Invincible's reins I have no reason to go back, except to constantly beat the Lich King with my weapon transmog'd as the Ashbringer, heh.

[4:02 PM]
Membership:
[4:02 PM]
Today is the first day of our traditional chat marathon for the anniversary.
[4:03 PM]
Maybe this year we could leave Tolkien questions in the channel, hopefully from the LotR so all will be able to handle them.
[4:03 PM]
(And we can sneak in other books too!)
[4:04 PM]
Congratulations to you all for keeping our guild going since 1997!
[4:05 PM]
Without a membership, there is no guild. This is your very own.
[4:05 PM]
Web:

ShelobYesterday at 4:05 PM
I have a bit of membership news.

VardaYesterday at 4:05 PM
backs up
[4:05 PM]
Membership: : )
[4:05 PM]
Fire away!

ShelobYesterday at 4:06 PM
A little bird told me that apparently today is Sauron's birthday!
[4:06 PM]
Hip hip hooray!

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:06 PM
Congrats!

VardaYesterday at 4:06 PM
This is true. He is 40 today. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:06 PM
Ooh, round number

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:07 PM
Congrats Sauron

VardaYesterday at 4:07 PM
Much strawberry cake (with strawberries) and his requested barbecued red meat (right off the bone).

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:07 PM
still young :)_

VardaYesterday at 4:07 PM
and much fine loot. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:08 PM
Epics?

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:08 PM
but yeah , i know the problem .. too old to be young and too young to be old

ShelobYesterday at 4:08 PM
I'm 39,5 and I am nowhere near old.

Pallando-ValarYesterday at 4:08 PM
Congrats!

ShelobYesterday at 4:09 PM
And I share a classroom with mostly 18-year olds as my peer.
[4:09 PM]
peers*

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:09 PM

VardaYesterday at 4:09 PM
A NASA shirt looks pretty epic on him. And a David Day book "Dark Powers".

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:09 PM
great

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:10 PM
I'm 35, and I worry that I do not seem to be getting older...

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:10 PM
you sure you got no picture hiding somewhere on a loft , Phari?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:10 PM
Would explain a lot.

VardaYesterday at 4:11 PM
Elwing gave both of those.
[4:11 PM]
Fangorn gave stuff like networking cable. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:11 PM
Ah, practical

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:11 PM
((if someone didnt recognize that we were referring to that spooky picture of Dorian Gray (
[4:11 PM]

[4:12 PM]
))

VardaYesterday at 4:12 PM
The "Dark Powers" book feels odd, like rubbery leather or... skin.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:12 PM
Arien's developing gills.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:12 PM
or failing typing  dry

VardaYesterday at 4:12 PM
Dorian Gray's painting could be quite popular if we could use it ourselves. ; )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:13 PM
Would have to keep it safe though.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:13 PM
aye

VardaYesterday at 4:14 PM
We need those paintings mass-produced. One gets slashed to bits, break out the next!
[4:15 PM]
In other membership news, Eonwe may have real life blocking him from the main meeting.
[4:16 PM]
Fortunately, the chat marathon begins now so he may get to chat with you yet!

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:16 PM
Yay!

VardaYesterday at 4:17 PM
Any other membership news?
[4:19 PM]

Web:
[4:19 PM]
Eonwe requested that we say a reminder
[4:20 PM]
that the GSMU needs everyone's input since he has to write the State of Valar Gaming from it and present it next meeting. : )
[4:20 PM]
So he could use everyone's help!
[4:20 PM]
Email, Discord, forum all work.
[4:20 PM]
For those that didn't get the letter:

[4:22 PM]
For the Anniversary page, we can use your poetry, humor, stories, articles, music, etc.
[4:23 PM]
We will be presenting it on next Sunday's anniversary meeting, but will be taking anniversary goodies for all of October. Please mark it if you intended it for the Anniversary.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:23 PM
Well, I made some progress on the ship, turns out I have very little idea on how to draw them, but at least it's recognizable

VardaYesterday at 4:24 PM
You can look up reference pics if that helps you feel better?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:24 PM
I did. Lots of em. Turns out there's a lot of differences between ships

VardaYesterday at 4:25 PM
We do have real sailors in the guild. They need a good laugh too. ; )
[4:25 PM]
That's the truth!
[4:25 PM]
Sooo many kinds.
[4:25 PM]
Thank you for working on it. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:26 PM
Sure  It's been a few months since I've had an opportunity to draw this stuff, since the big changes at Kong.
[4:26 PM]
It's not a long project, but I do need to make the time

VardaYesterday at 4:27 PM
That sounds very familiar.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:27 PM
hehe

VardaYesterday at 4:27 PM
Time squeezing is Us.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:28 PM
"Wait, I didn't know ships had a sail there"...

Good night, Irmo!

IrmoYesterday at 4:44 PM
Night night!

VardaYesterday at 4:44 PM
: )
[4:45 PM]

Tolkien!
[4:45 PM]
On the boat theme, who was called a sea-king? Or more than one?

ShelobYesterday at 4:46 PM
Arphy was? Maybe?
[4:46 PM]
I know I have a story up on the site somewhere about Voronwë I think. He was no king though.
[4:47 PM]
But very important as Ulmo's messenger and guide to Tuor I believe.

VardaYesterday at 4:47 PM
The sea-kings in real life were Scandinavian, so of course Tolkien knew about them.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:49 PM
The Nujmenorians were called Sea Kings

VardaYesterday at 4:49 PM
Aye, Arien
[4:50 PM]
The people of Middle-earth who saw the Numenoreans gave them that name.
[4:50 PM]
The Numenoreans had become greater than normal men, and came in great ships, and drove away Sauron's forces.
[4:52 PM]
Who else sailed on ships or used boats?

ShelobYesterday at 4:52 PM
The Teleri.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:52 PM
Sorry, wask afk a bit.
[4:52 PM]
*was
[4:53 PM]
Great timing, hm.

VardaYesterday at 4:53 PM
Good, aye, the Teleri. They built the swan-ships, a feat that like the Silmarils could not be done again.
[4:54 PM]
For Feanor to destroy them struck me as an act of hypocrisy, amongst many other things wrong with it.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:54 PM
good point, actually

ShelobYesterday at 4:54 PM
Feanor did many foolish things, mostly influenced by Melkor's dark whispers.

VardaYesterday at 4:55 PM
and his own hubris, that allowed Melkor to work on him.

ShelobYesterday at 4:55 PM
Turgon's people were shipbuilders and mariners while they dwelt in Nevrast and the halls of Vinyamar were upon the sea.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:56 PM
Seems to me like Feanor cared more about his own craftsmanship than the products of others.
[4:56 PM]
What others made just didn't matter.

ShelobYesterday at 4:56 PM
Hubris at its best.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:56 PM
It resembles Melkor's motivation as well.

VardaYesterday at 4:56 PM
Turgon's people. Thanks.
[4:57 PM]
Hubris is brought up a lot in Tolkien's writings as the starting point of evil.

ShelobYesterday at 4:57 PM
There were also the peoples of Brithombar and Eglarest (and yes, I am cheating with a map of Beleriand  )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:57 PM
Cirdan's folk made ships too, though usually for a singular purpose

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:58 PM
didn' Galadriel have a Swan ship?

VardaYesterday at 4:58 PM
with no hubris. : )  Even with sacrifice as it meant Cirdan was stuck in Middle-earth.
[4:58 PM]
Aye, she did.
[4:59 PM]
She was also part Teleri, of very high rank.

ShelobYesterday at 4:59 PM
But it was but a poor image of the ships.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:59 PM
There's also the Corsairs of Umbar (my men!) who belonged to but one of several fortresses of the King's Men along the western coast, and were good at building ships and using them to raid the more northern coasts and cities.

VardaYesterday at 5:00 PM
Ahh, right. The black sails. An image of them might be put on a round shape for a palantir, in artwork.
[5:01 PM]
The stars in early stories were ships in the sky, including Vingilot of Earendil.

ShelobYesterday at 5:01 PM
Galadriel was daughter of Finarfin and Aerwen, daughter of Olwë, king of the Teleri.

VardaYesterday at 5:01 PM
There you go. : )

ShelobYesterday at 5:02 PM
Google helps though.

VardaYesterday at 5:03 PM
Frodo's parents died in a boating accident. Merry said their hobbits were not like Sam, but used boats.

ShelobYesterday at 5:03 PM

VardaYesterday at 5:03 PM
The Stoors were boatmen.

ShelobYesterday at 5:04 PM
Let us not forget the Corsairs of Umbar!
[5:06 PM]
I'm gonna head to bed as well. Yawns are coming thick and fast now.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:06 PM
Namarie!

VardaYesterday at 5:06 PM
Namarie!
[5:06 PM]
It's the hour
[5:07 PM]
Just right for the end of the main meeting.

ShelobYesterday at 5:07 PM
Also, I didn't even notice that I copied Pharzy's earlier comment, so definitely time to hit the hay.

VardaYesterday at 5:07 PM
I was looking for the source of your listing.
[5:07 PM]
It's nice and clear work.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:07 PM
Repetition is fine if that means more people notice it

ShelobYesterday at 5:07 PM
I'm fairly sure I have seen something like it before.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:08 PM
Well, it looks a lot like the hobbit family trees in appendix.. dc?

VardaYesterday at 5:08 PM
Eru did something similar, but used too many non-canon sources.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:08 PM
d or c?

VardaYesterday at 5:08 PM
Direct Current : )
[5:09 PM]
the hammer sails across the slick, glassy surface of the table
[5:09 PM]
it bumps into the hammerpad's side

After-meeting!
[5:10 PM]
Now begins the week-long Anniversary chat marathon!

ShelobYesterday at 5:11 PM
I think it's in the Silmarillion somewhere. but I cannot find my copy! Or any of my Tolkien books!

VardaYesterday at 5:11 PM
I meant, where was the above illustration's source?
[5:11 PM]
I'd like to look at what else they have and how they did it.

ShelobYesterday at 5:12 PM
https://thainsbook.minastirith.cz/galadriel.html

VardaYesterday at 5:12 PM
You can look for your books another time when you're more conscious!
[5:12 PM]
Thank you
[5:15 PM]
That's a site that can keep a Tolkienite busy for a long time.
[5:17 PM]
My LotRO loading screen seems to be stuck.

ShelobYesterday at 5:19 PM
Yeah, it seems to have a lot of information on it, and what I've read of it so far, pretty accurate too.

VardaYesterday at 5:22 PM
Feel free to get some sleep before school. : )
[5:22 PM]
I have to restart my comp, still stuck in a loading screen.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:23 PM
Distracted by Tolkien lore when you need to get up early? Who does that?

VardaYesterday at 5:23 PM
Thanks for the link. Been a long time since looking there and it's really worth a look.
[5:23 PM]
umm all of us, heh.
[5:23 PM]
Shelob is one of us. ; )  Just proved it.
[5:23 PM]
ok, restarting this mess now.

ShelobYesterday at 5:29 PM
Everything is still correct, even down to the debate on the Balrog's "wings"
[5:30 PM]
Also. Bed. Namarie for real now.

Personal gaming report!
[5:50 PM]
For flashgaming 3 games, 2 new for me and one classic oldy.
[5:51 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/DifferenceGames/museum-of-thieves is the first game! A simple find the differences game based on the Museum of Thieves novel, with nice art, music, and not too impossible to find differences.

[5:52 PM]
Fun little story around it as well, making people interested in the book
[5:52 PM]
Won't take you too long, but nice little enjoyable timewaster.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 6:16 PM
bedtime for me i am afraid dear friends
[6:16 PM]
i ll be here tomorrow most of the time
[6:16 PM]
Namarie for now

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:16 PM
Namarie!
[6:18 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/JavelinOU/tdp4-team-battle is the second game! A multiplayer 2d platformer shooter, not too complicated, with experience to get and weapons to unlock. Player population is low, though, so you might spend some time finding matches and hopefully not getting killed too much by people much better equipped than you. Still, the badge to kill 15 people was new, and I enjoyed getting it, as I ended up facing another new player, and the minor tactical aspects are kinda fun

[6:19 PM]
Winning too much isn't necessary either, your xp comes from kills you make, and you'll always have some opportunities to take people down even if stronger
[6:20 PM]
So yeah, some problems with finding people but there's multiple servers to go through, so you might get lucky, depending on timezone as well.
[6:20 PM]
Right now, for example, Europe is empty but Russia has more people
[6:22 PM]
Not the best game I've linked, but it's new, and still quite enjoyable for a mostly abandoned shooter

https://www.kongregate.com/games/light_bringer777/learn-to-fly is the old classic, and one I do recommend if you've not done it yet! First in one of the most famous series on Kongregate, it's an upgrade game about a penguin trying to fly by launching himself into the distance. You get money for distance and objectives, which you use to buy upgrades to get further and further. How long will it take you?

[6:26 PM]
Blizzard gaming:
[6:30 PM]
Heroes of the Storm:
2 levels gained, to 430! Auriel and Sonya to level 7, both being Diablo heroes. Auriel's shaping up to be my favorite healer/support hero, as she can do some serious laning damage even while solo, and her heals get pretty powerful.
[6:30 PM]
In fact, both heroes are good fun
[6:32 PM]
Hearthstone:
Not much news. The brawl's the pro-arena again, with 1000 gold entry, which I never do, because I don't like arenas  Also no new leels.
[6:32 PM]
*levels
[6:32 PM]
WoW:
[6:33 PM]
Mythic Jaina downed once again, 2 more people got the mythic mount, not me  Not sure if patch will arrive this week or the next, but we'll have at least one more shot at it. Who knows?
[6:33 PM]
Phase 1 still a pain though!
[6:35 PM]
Weekly this week is pet battles, so I did 5 from my garrison again  No more family achievements left, so I can use whatever pets I want. Tried out a few classic combos but ultimately settled for the gnome trio again. Not invincible, but it makes for some nice combinations.
[6:36 PM]
Brewfest has started! Nothing new, but it looked as if I didn't have the brewfest tabard, even though it was new last year, so I sent in my dark iron dwarf alt in Ironforge to grind for it.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:36 PM
Salutations.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:36 PM
After doing a day of quests and dailies and gaining her two levels, from 21 to 23, I realized she's already got the tabard; the appearance just isn't accountwide.
[6:37 PM]
So either I go in there with my main... or I might still hang on a bit in case they do make it accountwide. I can always come back for it in later years.
[6:37 PM]
Aiya Eonwe
[6:37 PM]
And finally quite a bit of Mechagon and Nazjatar!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:38 PM
The Brewfest Tabard look isn't account-wide? Sounds like that shouldn't be...

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:38 PM
Yeah, probably a bug, but it's been there for a year, so who knows?
[6:40 PM]
Anyway, in my effort to get exalted with Mechagon, I grabbed a group of friends to clear mythic Mechagon, letting me finish the questline, and getting me the first rank of King Mechagon's essence.
[6:40 PM]
Since I was essence gathering anyway, I also bought the 3 rank 1s from the Mechagon quartermaster that night.
[6:40 PM]
As part of the questing there I also unlocked the golden color for my mechanocat, the first new color, with a whole bunch more to go. But gold will suit me for now
[6:42 PM]
I also went to the alternate future Mechagon through Chromie's daily for the first time, grabbing the time displacer blueprint so I can visit it whenever I want, and also getting a new pet as I farmed the blueprint, the Arachnoid Skitterbot, a mechanical smoking spider
[6:42 PM]
Since it's a spider, a bot, and emitting heat and smoke, I decided to call it Charbotte
[6:43 PM]
After a famous literary spider!
[6:43 PM]
Groanworthy petnames are my specialty after all.
[6:44 PM]
I also completed the daily to start the Mechagon Mini Collection, getting me a platform toy and several mini figures to display and battle on them. Also 3 figures in the starter pack, and an epic Sapphronetta mini through a quest that unlocked
[6:44 PM]
I'm almost done with the daily visitor quests now.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:44 PM
Salutations isn't just my fancy way of saying hello

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:46 PM
googles well there's a nice coincidence then  I should really read the book, I only know it from hearsay.
[6:46 PM]
Or watch the movie of course!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:46 PM
I liked the old cartoon when I was a kid. Only spider that gets a pass, heh.

Chin Up

[6:48 PM]
How about that one?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:48 PM
better
[6:50 PM]
Aaaanyway, I did get Mechagon to exalted, early in the week in fact, which means I can unlock the mechagnome race now
[6:51 PM]
I've already had Kelsey shouting at me to help her with a fading Mekkatorque while crossing Boralus, but I figure he can still wait a little bit more while I complete some other questlines first (edited)
[6:52 PM]
I completed the second chapter in Nazjatar, infiltrating a naga camp to discover Azerite weaponry, and ultimately facing down Lady Ashvane.

After that I decided to try the 8.2 chapter of the war campaign, which consisted of only 2 quests but with a lengthy scenario to rescue Baine from Orgrimmar, founding a rebellion against Sylvanas and starting the first steps of a cooperation between Horde and Alliance.
[6:55 PM]
And after that I went back to Nazjatar for chapter 3, visiting the ruins of Zin-Azshari to help some ghosts and acquire a special weapon.
[6:58 PM]
Now almost done with the main quests of 8.2, only need to secure the tidestone and take down Azshara in the raid, and then I'll start the final chapter of the war campaign! And after that I just need to do a heroic darkshore warfront quest and the mechagnome unlock quests, and I'll have all the main story beats of BfA complete. Should be done in under a week, so I hope we've still got one week until prepatch, otherwise it'll have to be done at level 50, which would feel a bit off.
[6:59 PM]
There are many collections, achievements, side quests and profession things still left to be done which I'd normally have done by now at the end of the expansion, but BfA really slowed me down. I'll be glad to have the main things done, and all the rest can be done if I have free time in later expansions, including the bee faction.
[7:00 PM]
To be honest, I didn't think I'd get this far anymore, so it's pleasant progress, mostly enabled by Blizzard's generous double reputation rep
[7:00 PM]
*double reputation buff
[7:01 PM]
And that's my report for the week!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 7:04 PM
Congrats :}
[7:05 PM]
I would note that I upgraded my graphics card and my power supply (because of the graphics card) today. One of the fans went out on my old card, so it was time. Now it's just disk access time that's bottlenecking my computer speed, heh.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:06 PM
Hah, nice  Always good to get upgrades.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 7:07 PM
Since Shadowlands is recommending a Solid State Drive, I'm eying those now for my next upgrade. Putting that it will definitely be easier than dealing with the power supply, heh.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:09 PM
Hah, yes. Good for windows and browsers as well

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 7:10 PM
Might eye some RAM sometime soon too, but I'm not hitting my max usage on that yet. I could have 4 times the RAM I currently do if I needed it.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:11 PM
Room for improvement!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 7:13 PM
Aye, when I got this computer I made sure I was going to be able to upgrade it when I needed to. my last one, while good, had a custom power supply, so when it went out that was the end of that computer (after 8 good years). I'm up to 6 years on this one and just now starting to upgrade it, so I've probably still got a good few years before I have to eye a complete upgrade.
[7:17 PM]
Only reason I had to do the power supply actually was because of the power connector on the new graphics card.
[7:21 PM]
And some of my alts have been seeing more action running ICC (Prot and Holy Paladins) and Black Temple (DH and Rogue for the Glaives).

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:22 PM
Ah yes
[7:22 PM]
I do have the glaives.. on my druid.. but I don't think I have the achievement because I can't equip them

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 7:23 PM
Yeah, trying to get them for the guild achievement, so going with chars that can equip them so I don't get lucky on a char that can't hehe.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 7:32 PM
Another benefit of the upgrade is that I can run both LotRO and WoW on highest settings at the same time again, hehe.
[7:33 PM]
They were vying for my graphics card for a while, causing lag on whichever one I was focusing on. Looks like now they'll play together nicely again instead of trying to take eachother's toys.

VardaYesterday at 7:38 PM
Hey that's amazing, Eonwe

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:39 PM
Well, that's one way to play multiple MMOs.

IorethYesterday at 7:40 PM
Think of how many players in a band you could do in LOTRO

VardaYesterday at 7:50 PM
A lot

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:50 PM
Y'know, I'm thinking that after I do the questlines I mentioned, I'll spend some time before SL launch getting that bee mount. It's a fun non-timegated grind which will make a nice relaxing activity before the new content hits.

IorethYesterday at 7:50 PM
back when I was playing regular there was a guy boxing a 30 piece orchestra
[7:51 PM]
I made my alli into a horde - then I remember that was the one I was working on the bee quest with.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:51 PM
Ouch

VardaYesterday at 7:51 PM
I just passed a small 6-man band

IorethYesterday at 7:52 PM
The most I have personally boxed has been 4 - on the same computer

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 7:57 PM
I don't think I've ever really done much with the music system. I think I tried it once and that was it.
[8:00 PM]
Kind of like the fishing hobby, now that I think of it.(edited)
[8:01 PM]
Note: My Tabard of Brew looks like it's available across my characters.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:01 PM
Interesting. I wonder if they've fixed it.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:02 PM
Maybe. Pretty sure I just got it this year.
[8:02 PM]
That and the hearthstone and I think one other item.

VardaYesterday at 8:02 PM
Fishing ability is used in a number of LotRO quests.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:02 PM
I got all those last year. Like I said, my dwarf alt already had it. I just can't use it on my main.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:03 PM
That's odd.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:03 PM
Maybe if it's gotten this year it unlocks?
[8:03 PM]
Seems weird.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:05 PM
I'd ask if it's still within the 2 hour refund window, but if it's been a year you'd have to be seriously neglecting that character for that to be the case.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:05 PM
Ehr. Well. I hadn't logged her since.
[8:05 PM]
She's my unofficial Brewfest alt right now

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:05 PM
:}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:05 PM
I'll check on the cloak.
[8:06 PM]
Tabard, sorry.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:06 PM
If that doesn't work, this post : https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/tabard-of-brew-not-accountwide/307255/7 --- suggests that transmogging the tabard to something else made it work for someone, but probably due to making it no longer refundable based.(edited)
World of Warcraft Forums
Tabard of Brew NOT accountwide?
For future reference, you can skip the refund period by setting the appearance as a favorite as well.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:07 PM
Well, it doesn't say it's in the refundable window.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:08 PM
Hmm

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:08 PM
I'll check the main to see if it's expired since then.
[8:09 PM]
Of course, just because it doesn't say it doesn't mean it's not somewhere in that zone, it might be because it's a special currency, or because last year's event is not this year's, or some tiny little buggy detail.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:10 PM
That post I linked is from last year, suggests that it should be account wide.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:10 PM
checks main
[8:10 PM]
...Well, it's available now

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:10 PM
Good :}
[8:10 PM]
All's well that ends well :}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:11 PM
Indeed

IorethYesterday at 8:12 PM
Thought I used to have a lot more tabards in wow

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:13 PM
I'm not looking forward to the grind to get the rest of my Baradin's Wardens transmogs.

IorethYesterday at 8:13 PM
Now cloaks I have 22 pages

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:14 PM
22 pages? That sounds like the whole collection.

IorethYesterday at 8:14 PM
there are way mroe

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:14 PM
Ok, guess not. 53 pages is the whole collection.
[8:15 PM]
22-ish pages is pretty much everything else from the looks of it though.

IorethYesterday at 8:15 PM
I still run into stuff I would like to have, but I think I have nearly all the pretty ones

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:16 PM
I read about some guy on wowhead who got every single plate appearance in the game.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:16 PM
Definitely not me, lol.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:16 PM
hehe

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:16 PM
How long did that take him?

IorethYesterday at 8:16 PM
I need more plate and more cloth

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:16 PM
Well, it was a few months ago, he streamed the last item
[8:17 PM]
Would've taken him a while, but I think he had like 40 warriors maxed.

IorethYesterday at 8:17 PM
wow

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:17 PM
That would've done it, lol.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:17 PM
Yep

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:18 PM
And a good chunk of everything from legacy content too.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:19 PM
Not sure if those still show if you don't have them already.

IorethYesterday at 8:19 PM
as bad as me and my hunters.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:19 PM
Is there anything a warrior can't put on (barring warglaives)?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:19 PM
Well, you can unlock plate on them, though they can wear the rest...
[8:19 PM]
Not sure what they're lacking otherwise.
[8:19 PM]
*only unlock

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:20 PM
As I recall, anything they can wear, they can get transmog credit for, so they can get your cloth appearances too,.. at least barring class-specific gear.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:20 PM
I.. don't think so. It shouldn't even show in their collection.
[8:20 PM]
Oh, and they can't use wands

IorethYesterday at 8:21 PM
You can only transmog your class -  sigh. You can only save to mog your class. It got weird for a while when hunters no longer started with leather

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:21 PM
Is there hunter-specific leather still in the game?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:22 PM
It wouldn't, but you can then flip over to someone who does wear it and see it in their collection. I remember doing that.

IorethYesterday at 8:22 PM
I was thinking that warriors either can't use staves or polearms

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:22 PM
Shouldn't be. SHould all be designated mail at this point.

IorethYesterday at 8:23 PM
at first the transmog system was a bit messed up with classes that started with one then switched to another - it was if they hadn't taken that code from the game

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:23 PM
So a low level hunter would only see leather appearances, despite only wearing mail?

IorethYesterday at 8:23 PM
They weren't doing that still, the code was there from before and it confused the poor thing
[8:24 PM]
It wasn't seeing, it was when you got a mail piece below like 30 it refused to catalog it

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:24 PM
Oof.

IorethYesterday at 8:24 PM
did the same to warriors too - they started with mail then switched to plate
[8:25 PM]
was so frustrating to get something that looked good and have to hold on to it past the "official" date of wearing mail so that it went into the catalog

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:25 PM
Myes.

IorethYesterday at 8:27 PM
I'd love if we could just catalog what we get, would make mog runs so much easier. I've gotten so many nice cloth pieces on my druid and I keep telling myself I need to go back with my cloth wearer
[8:28 PM]
That place in Draenor is one, can't remember the name

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:28 PM
There's a lot of places in Draenor
[8:28 PM]
A raid?
[8:29 PM]
But yeah, that's one of the reasons my mailboxes are so full, I keep sending stuff to alts

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:30 PM
Heh, you just reminded me that I've been thinking about cleaning out the guild bank.
[8:34 PM]
Note to everyone with a Guild Character on WoW: Guild bank cleaning coming. If there's something in there you want for transmog or professions, grab it now.
[8:35 PM]
Let's say you have until the pre-patch launches, whenever that is.

IorethYesterday at 8:40 PM
first pre-patch or second?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:44 PM
Should only be one. The one after should be the actual launch if memory serves.
[8:44 PM]
Either way, the one that brings all the changes.

IorethYesterday at 8:44 PM
It had said two on something I read
[8:45 PM]
Been doing PTR, it has a good deal of the content. I broke the start island right off

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:45 PM
Yeah, there was something about 2 patches. One containing the systems while the other would be implemented later so they could put in some more content.

IorethYesterday at 8:46 PM
In all the years I have done beta and alpha games, this was my proudest break to date - broke it for everyone on the island

Development Update: The Road to Shadowlands
[8:48 PM]
Lol
[8:49 PM]
Couldn't be satisfied breaking your own game? :}

IorethYesterday at 8:50 PM
what was even better is when they fixed it they didn't take away the ability to tame the boss. So then we could tame the boss and it would respawn so we could kill it. Guess what I'm doing when it goes live

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:50 PM
hehehe
[8:52 PM]
9.0.1 will be the pre-patch and is the pre-expansion event and new systems. 9.0.2 is basically Shadowlands content. So 9.0.1 is the cutoff before I clean out the guild banks on Lothar and Uldaman.(edited)

IorethYesterday at 8:53 PM
Guess I get to beat up on Janina again... I never get the mount
[8:57 PM]
anyone want to come?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:58 PM
Not me, it's about time for bed
[8:58 PM]
....Well, to be honest, 1-2 hours ago it already was

From the Hobbit, ch. 1 "An Unexpected Party":
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.
Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell,
nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat:
it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.
