Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
AriehnV has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV has entered the room.
AriehnV: aiya Eonwe :-)
VardaValar1: Aiya Eonwe
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: Heya all.
galdorandwe has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Phar, surprise, we came here ahead of you for once. ;-)
VardaValar1: Heya Galdor
AriehnV: hehe we did and i am usually one of the latest to arrive
ArPharazonV: I know! I was even thinking about coming in 10 minutes ago but somehow it slipped my mind.
AriehnV: aiya all
galdorandwe: Aiya.
galdorandwe: It usually takes me 3 tries just to get in :-)
AriehnV: uarks
VardaValar1: That's awful.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: aiya!
VardaValar1: I wonder if it has anything to do with AIM versions of the one starting the room?
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis
ArPharazonV: ...So... it's a bad thing now for me to get in first? :-)
VardaValar1: I doubt it. :-)
VardaValar1: You came in with just one try, Phar?
ArPharazonV: I did, yes.
ArPharazonV: haven't had trouble with AIM in at least a few months, I think
VardaValar1: Might have nothing to do with versions then.

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumen' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: Malva-(V) has left the kin, since it's very difficult for her to be spread between ours and Scions of Arda.
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
AriehnV: I have changed department at work
VardaValar1: I hope they pay you more or it's more pleasant. : )
fladrifv has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: I moved my pc to my room because of furniture movings and other house chores downstairs :-)
AriehnV: from dairy checkouts ... less physical demanding
VardaValar1: Aiya Fladrif :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya Flad!
VardaValar1: Good to hear.
AriehnV: Aiya Ent :-)
VardaValar1: Phar, mine moved too because of house problems. Must be something in the coming autumn. : )
VardaValar1: Maybe it'll be neaer your books.
VardaValar1: *nearer
ArPharazonV: Not exactly a problem. We're just painting the walls and replacing the floor, and most of the stuff had to move out of the living room to make the whole thing easier.
ArPharazonV: Will probably be back downstairs in a week.
ArPharazonV: And yes, the bookshelf is practically within a hand's reach now :-)
VardaValar1: Sounds busy there!
VardaValar1: Nice : )
VardaValar1: Any further membership news?

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Nothing new at the moment for the Tolkien Site, however
VardaValar1: we are coming up to our 13th Valar Guild Anniversary. :-)
VardaValar1: We are taking items for the Tolkien Site now for the anniversary, with special mention if you write it in celebration of this very cool time.
VardaValar1: It can be for any section of the Tolkien Site, any length. If it's a few days late, you can still let us know it's for the anniversary and be included in the mention.
VardaValar1: So if you have anything you've been thinking about maybe doing, now's the time!
VardaValar1: Eonwe, go ahead.
Eonwe Valar: I just thought I'd remind everyone that the GMSU deadline is September 30th, 11 days from now, so if you haven't answered yet, please do so soon.
Eonwe Valar: *GSMU that is.
karakedi25: That sounds like a university!
Eonwe Valar: Games Site Mass-Update for those who don't know, hehe.
VardaValar1: Welcome to the Valar Guild University. : )
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: Those items for the Tolkien Site should be emailed to Varda, as shown on the Membership page: varda.elentari @ gmail. com
VardaValar1: no spaces
top

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Remember that you can send items for inclusion in the News page as well, for your favorite games or other things, especially Tolkien-related.

VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: It's Talk Like a Pirate Day
karakedi25: or weekend
VardaValar1: Pirate fun starts in LotRO near the Brandywine Bridge and lets you pick up piratical cosmetics.
VardaValar1: Aye, it was for the weekend. :-)
VardaValar1: Also in LotRO news:
VardaValar1: I was unavailable for Monday instance runs, but
VardaValar1: on Wednesday we started them early.
ArPharazonV: Shouldn't it be Talk Like a Corsair Day in this case? ;-)
AriehnV: should be actually hehe
VardaValar1: We ran small instances for Sword Hall and the Tham Mirdain Library, then did our 6-man run in Carn Dum of Angmar to help three members on their class quests.
VardaValar1: Right, Phar!
VardaValar1: Any other LotRO news we should mention?
AriehnV: another ding on the hunter to 27 ^
karakedi25: nothing other than that we have a lot of people exploring the new area, Enedwaith
VardaValar1: Grats, Arien
VardaValar1: True, the new Enedwaith area has a lot of interesting stuff, a new book section, and is a great way to make money. ;-)
ArPharazonV: grats :-)

VardaValar1: On to WoW:
VardaValar1: Eonwe, go ahead.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks.
Eonwe Valar: First, it's Pirate Day in WoW, as I'm sure would be assumed after hearing about it in LotRO :}
ArPharazonV: Yarr.
Eonwe Valar: Harvest Festival is running until Thursday.
AriehnV: aye captn
Eonwe Valar: Brewfest Begins Tuesday.
Eonwe Valar: And a chunk of the 4.0.1 patch can be got through the downloader right now.
ArPharazonV: 4.45gb!
AriehnV: pfft aye
ArPharazonV: Out of 16 or so, so we've got a long way to go ;-)
AriehnV: 16 gigs oh mo chreachsa
VardaValar1: Nice that they parcel it out.
Eonwe Valar: At this rate, we might end up with the 4.0.1 patch by our Anniversary, hehe.
AriehnV: anyway new speculations about the release date are rife
AriehnV: MMO champion speaks about a target of 2 nov
ArPharazonV: The beta test realm patch appears to be 16gb in total, so yeah, I'm assuming that's what we're gonna get as well before the end.
AriehnV: but its not cast in iron yet
Eonwe Valar: I've been suspecting November for a while too, hehe (though I've been hoping later).
ArPharazonV: a store I saw said it would be the 11th. So I wouldn't hold the 2nd as absolute.
Eonwe Valar: But aye, Blizzard hasn't announced a release date, so nothing solid yet.
AriehnV: i dont dont worry :-)
VardaValar1: In gaming times, there are no absolutes. :-) I'd rather they did it right than fast.
AriehnV: true enough Varda
Eonwe Valar: Agreed.
VardaValar1: We can wish anyway.
Eonwe Valar: That's it of my general WoW news.
VardaValar1: Thanks Eonwe
ArPharazonV: I am expecting it soon though, or at least the patch that changes all the old zones. Made sure to redo some of my favorite questlines with the alts at appropriate levels.

VardaValar1: Pallando messaged me yesterday, said that he is back from the military on leave.
ArPharazonV: Did the Tirion-questline in the Plaguelands with my Death Knight today ;-)
VardaValar1: He is hoping that in two weeks he'll be able to join us in free to play LotRO, more as a chat program than anything else.
VardaValar1: He is still taking emails from anyone interested in EVE Online, however.
AriehnV: oh dear what a novum :-D i need to do that anyway , never did it .. although i discovered his hut at some point
ArPharazonV: I read the book some months ago, and I hadn't done the questline after that. It all made a lot more sense this time.
AriehnV: (shuts up :-) sorry )
Eonwe Valar: Good to hear that about Pallando :}
VardaValar1: Pardon me, I'm rushing through a bit fast.

VardaValar1: Eonwe has SC2 news, go ahead.
Eonwe Valar: The first patch for Starcraft 2 will be coming out this Tuesday.
Eonwe Valar: The 1.1 patch, touted as a "balance patch,"
VardaValar1: *teeter*
Eonwe Valar: That's all I have for SC2.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Eonwe.
VardaValar1: Fladrif seems to be afk, but he was probably in Second Life. I dropped in there briefly this week.
VardaValar1: Any other gaming news?
ArPharazonV: Did some SC2 myself this week, finally got Blaze of Glory done ;-)
ArPharazonV: That concludes my revisit of my earlier finished 13 missions, now I'm moving on to the rest, starting with the Train Robbery ;-)
ArPharazonV: why am I winking?
Eonwe Valar: Nervous tick? :}
ArPharazonV: anyway, from here on I hope to get all the normal achievements in one go until I've finished the campaign. Also gonna spend some time with the Lost Viking arcade game for the achievements.
ArPharazonV: "in one go" not meaning I'll do everything in a single setting, but meaning that I won't need to redo any missions after I finish them as I had to with some of the last 13.
ArPharazonV: And if you don't play, nothing I said right now will make any sense, but that's ok!
AriehnV: ^^
ArPharazonV: To clarify, Blaze of Glory was getting 750 extra kills on the final mission in the protoss mini section, normal mode. Bit of a toughy. Not sure if I'm ever gonna manage to simply complete it on Hard and Brutal.
ArPharazonV: Not much more to report. I found out that you don't need the cd inserted to play SCII campaign, or probably anything else.
ArPharazonV: So... carry on!
Eonwe Valar: I haven't had the cd in since I installed the game :}
ArPharazonV: *grin* I figured it might be necessary for the Hyperion scenes and the cinematics etc.
Eonwe Valar: Aye, since games in the past have run the cinematics off the cd.
top

VardaValar1: If I may, at this time let's move on to Tolkien.
ArPharazonV: I've seen plenty of games that allowed multiplayer cd-less but nothing campaigny without it.
VardaValar1: Since this is Talk Like a Pirate Day,
VardaValar1: http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html
VardaValar1: the topic is
VardaValar1: How did pirates (Corsairs) affect the Lord of the Rings storyline?
VardaValar1: Fire away!
ArPharazonV: Aragorn needed boats!
VardaValar1: True : )
Eonwe Valar: By taking one of Gondor's port cities, they made it dangerous for the southern fiefs to send a great deal of aid to Minas Tirith.
karakedi25: Aragorn needed to stop them from adding to the Battle of the Pelennor
VardaValar1: Good and good comments.
ArPharazonV: Could argue that the Corsair fleet was a major factor in the Battle of the Pelennor since if it had been filled with corsairs, it quickly could've changed the battle to the bad side. But instead the Orcs got a false sense of security with their arrival, and the scales were finally tipped in the right direction when their users turned out to be the good guys :-)
VardaValar1: Aye
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: And not ghosts :}
VardaValar1: hehehehe
ArPharazonV: hehe
VardaValar1: How did the Corsair ships affect Denethor?
Eonwe Valar: There are *no* ghosts fighting for the good guys at the Battle of the Pelennor. :}
VardaValar1: This also affected teh storyline.
ArPharazonV: He saw the ships in his Palantir, for a start.
VardaValar1: True. Aragorn held the oath of the oathbreakers fulfilled when they took over all the Corsair ships by fear, for the Heir of Isildur. They had no physical effect.
ArPharazonV: At first I think he thought it spelled the doom of Minas Tirith, representing a large force coming up against him, but when he found out it was the heir of Elendil, he got a bit peeved at Gandalf for bringing him to supplant him.
ArPharazonV: that's what I recall, anyway
Eonwe Valar: Denethor didn't know it was Aragorn on the ships.
VardaValar1: Either way his plans to be like a king with his sons to succeed him were ruined.
VardaValar1: True, Eonwe
ArPharazonV: Hmm. Could've sworn...
VardaValar1: But he did know Gandalf was bringing that ranger
ArPharazonV: Yes, he did.
Eonwe Valar: Denethor saw through the Palantir was Sauron wanted him to see: a fleet of fresh troops coming against his city.
VardaValar1: Aye, the city appeared doomed.
ArPharazonV: Then I'm a bit confused on the matter. Oh well.
VardaValar1: That changed what Denethor would have done drastically by seeing the Corsair ships.
Eonwe Valar: That's when Denethor finally snapped and decided that rather than leave himself and Faramir to the ravages of his enemies, he would burn himself and Faramir.
AriehnV: well Aragorn was wise to conceal his true identity from Denethor
AriehnV: but i think that the Lord of Minas Tirith was very wary concerning him and sensed something bigger was afoot
Eonwe Valar: Aragorn had actually fought the corsairs during Ecthelion's (Denethor's father) reign, under the guise of Thorongil.
VardaValar1: You mean at the time of Ecthelion?
VardaValar1: Ecthelion was favoring Thorongil (disguised Aragorn) over Denethor as a leader. Did not sit well.
VardaValar1: So that's another way the pirates affected the storyline, aye.
ArPharazonV: what chapter was the one where Denethor complained to Gandalf about Aragorn? can imagine the scene, but doesn't appear to be in the first chapter anyway
VardaValar1: For the story of the Corsairs and the Fellowship, it's RotK "The Last Debate".
VardaValar1: I'll have to look for that one, Phar, a sec.
Eonwe Valar: Try the Passing of Denethor.
VardaValar1: Wherever Pippin and Gandalf first arrrived
VardaValar1: at Gondor.
ArPharazonV: Thought so, Varda, but couldn't see it.
Eonwe Valar: From The Pyre of Denethor:\
karakedi25: where gandalf said pippin couldn't hide that he was bringing someone great
VardaValar1: Eonwe is right
VardaValar1: Pyre of Denethor
ArPharazonV: *nod* looking there now
Eonwe Valar: "With thy left hand thou wouldst use me for a little while as a shield against Mordor, and with the right bring up this Ranger ofthe North to supplant me."
VardaValar1: Aye, that's it. You beat me typing. : )
ArPharazonV: That's it! That's the sentence I was thinking of.
VardaValar1: I forgot that Denethor started to stab Faramir so he wouldn't be allowed a choice. Denethor really went around the bend.
ArPharazonV: And yes, just a few paragraphs earlier he talks about the fleet of the black sails and how the West has failed, so he obviously didn't realize it was Aragorn with his banner there. So I was wrong indeed.
VardaValar1: But you were right that he said that.
VardaValar1: The movie changed it up.
ArPharazonV: Did it? That would explain my error.
VardaValar1: The movies confused everyone. Me too, good buddy.
VardaValar1: That's why we have to reread as well as watch the movies. : )
Eonwe Valar: They move the Aragorn discussion from where Denenthor prepares to burn himself to the first meeting of Gandalf and Denethor in the throne room.
Eonwe Valar: *They moved
ArPharazonV: Some things like the Elves at Helm's Deep and the ghosts at Minas Tirith are too big to miss, but there's little details like that which can even confuse us Valarguilders between the books and movies ;-)
Eonwe Valar: When it's been a while since we read the books, aye :}
galdorandwe: There were layers to that old rivalry (Thorongil and Denethor), though, and we've discussed them previously. It's worth mentioning that the heirs of Isildur and the heirs of Anarion had some debate pver who was to rule the Southern Kingdom of Gondor. It caused quite a war that decimated the men of Numenorean decent. It's almost certain that that played somewhat into Denethor's problem with Aragorn, although the greatness of Thorongil (Aragorn) as a captain of Echthelion was likely a bigger issue.
ArPharazonV: I have a good memory of audio. Quotes from the movies tend to stick more often than quotes from books. Maybe I should get audiobooks or something.
Eonwe Valar: Hmm?
VardaValar1: Audio books might be just what you need, aye. : )
Eonwe Valar: You're going to have to point out some source to me, Galdor. I don't remember Arnor and Gondor ever actually going to war over the rulership of Gondor.
ArPharazonV: I think there was a marriage some generations prior to the fall of Arnor that led to one kingdom claiming succession of the other. But I don't remember the details.
Eonwe Valar: I remember there being a Kinstrife in Gondor over whether it was fit to have a king on the throne who was not of pure Numenorean blood...
ArPharazonV: And while it strained things a bit and probably helped aid the fall of Arnor in the end, there wasn't actually any direct military conflict between both kingdoms.
Eonwe Valar: There was a claim, but it was not taken to arms. Both kingdoms had too much on their plate to squabble over ot.
VardaValar1: It was a disagreement, not exactly a war. When Gondor refused Arvedui Last-king's offer, they lost out on a long period of prosperity. They took Stewards instead.
Eonwe Valar: *over it.
ArPharazonV: "On the death of Ondoher and his sons, Arvedui of the North-kingdom claimed the crown of Gondor, as the direct descendant of Isildur, and as the husband of Firiel, only surviving child of Ondoher. The claim was rejected. In this Pelendur, the Steward of King Ondoher, played the chief part."
Eonwe Valar: Aye Phar. Thanks for saving me the typing :}
VardaValar1: Kingship given to Earnil instead of Arvedui, pardon.
galdorandwe: What Varda said.
ArPharazonV: Earnil took the crown then, as he was of the royal house, and was a victorious captain in the previous war.
ArPharazonV: Arvedui didn't press the claim, because he had neither willl nor power to oppose Gondor, and his kingdom was falling anyway.
VardaValar1: True, and Malbeth the Seer warned that if they did not take Arvedui, they would lose out on a period of prosperity.
ArPharazonV: Earnil was late in sending reinforcements, and when his son Earnur arrived (sorry for the lack of accents) it was already too late.
ArPharazonV: *nod* very true, Varda
VardaValar1: Earnil's son, Earnur died with no heir. No one saw the death, and the line of Stewards started with Mardil.
Eonwe Valar: Earnil and Earnur were the last two kings of Gondor before the time of the Ruling Stewards began.
ArPharazonV: Earnur fought the Witch King after he arrived in the North, which first brought him into conflict with the Witch King, and I guess we know what happened later when he was king.
ArPharazonV: Died after being taunted by him and going to Minas Morgul, I think?
Eonwe Valar: Assumed he died, but likely not without much torture.
VardaValar1: For Arvedui's story, here's a quick bit by Daeron-(V):
Eonwe Valar: And LotRO uses that grey area to claim a fate worse than death. I won't spoil it, hehe.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/a/ArveduiD.htm
ArPharazonV: Really makes you appreciate the scale of the whole Third Age. 3000 years, hard to imagine. And yet Arnor and the line of Gondor fell not too long after each other.
AriehnV: Arvedui married Firiel, the daughter of King Ondoher of Gondor, in 1940. When Ondoher and both his sons were killed in battle in 1944, Arvedui made a claim for the throne of Gondor. Arvedui was a direct descendant of Isildur, the eldest son of Elendil who had been the High King of Gondor and Arnor. His wife Firiel was the only surviving child of King Ondoher. In Numenor, women had been able to ascend to the throne, but this was not the case in Gondor. The Council of Gondor led by Pelendur rejected Arvedui's claim and Earnil - a captain of the Royal House - became King of Gondor.
AriehnV: i ve got this from /www.tuckborough.net/dunedain.html
VardaValar1: Mildly curious if any of you ever use our own Encyc. : )
VardaValar1: Thanks Arien
Eonwe Valar: I do :}
VardaValar1: Thanks Eonwe : )
ArPharazonV: Stewards reigned for nearly a thousand years. That's a long time. It was only half way during their reign that Rohan was founded and Gollum's story occurred.
ArPharazonV: And even Rohan has an extensive history at the time of LotR.
Eonwe Valar: It should probably be noted that in Arnor the rulership passed through the son only, as that is what is hinted at by the response to Arvedui, and throug hArvedui's response that "though the law has not been observed etc.."
ArPharazonV: Really makes you think about the length that goes into these histories.
Eonwe Valar: *Arnor also, i.e. not just Gondor.
Eonwe Valar: Aye Phar. Tolkien put alot of work into it.
Eonwe Valar: Amazing he found the time :}
ArPharazonV: hehe
VardaValar1: It was his computer game. : )
Eonwe Valar: Shame on us all for not find ing the time to add at least 5 articles a week ot the Tolkien Encyclopedia :}
VardaValar1: *ulp*
Eonwe Valar: Shame on us for not eating up all of Varda's gamign time with Encyclopedia work :}
ArPharazonV: brb, got some tea downstairs :-) problem with sitting here in my room is that I'm so far away from all food and drink ;-)
VardaValar1: Ok, I think we're done with our pirate discussion for the moment. The Corsairs did show up earlier than the LotR, but it was outside the scope of our discussion.
VardaValar1: Please eat my time with Encyc work!
VardaValar1: It's what I most wanted. : )
Eonwe Valar: Well, if we're talking about their impact on the story, their origin might be of import.
ArPharazonV: Well if you want we can discuss the corsairs, black Numenoreans and the entire history of Umbar ;-)
ArPharazonV: but not with me until over a few minutes!
VardaValar1: Kind of interesting typing Corsair into our Tolkien Encyc search engine, that Eonwe made for us.
VardaValar1: Good point, Phar.
VardaValar1: With that, perhaps we should let everyone return to their regularly scheduled mayhen.
VardaValar1: *mayhem
VardaValar1: *bangs gavel*
top

VardaValar1: After-meeting!
VardaValar1: Free chat about anything.
Eonwe Valar: OK, then I'll just say one name: Castamir.
fladrifv: sounds like casimir
karakedi25: kin-wars!
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/k/kings/KingsofGondor.htm
VardaValar1: Has a section on Castamir that should probably be put in an article instead of an index. *cough* My fault.
VardaValar1: One of the ways a number of the articles are organized is according to the times of the kings.
VardaValar1: A king should have an article, with links out to the events and people of his time. That's the plan anyway.
VardaValar1: So if any of you would like to help with the Kings project, feel free. :-)
Eonwe Valar: So get researchign everyone! :}
Eonwe Valar: researching even
VardaValar1: A lot is in there already. Work with it too, not just by yourself.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/k/kings/kingsMan.htm
VardaValar1: Gives a starting point

karakedi25: are we going to eventually go back to the RP?
VardaValar1: People have asked how to help with the Encyclopedia. This is a good way to start into it.
karakedi25: now that it's found it's home?
VardaValar1: Aye
VardaValar1: We don't have everyone.
VardaValar1: Home?
Eonwe Valar: My next post is tied into my research for an article on Elves.
AriehnV: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Castamir_the_Usurper
Eonwe Valar: Since Auros is being addressed by Calaron we're all waiting on me.
AriehnV: As King Valacar's only son, Eldacar was the legitimate heir to the throne, but his half Rhovanion lineage angered citizens who believed that pure Númenórean blood must be maintained
AriehnV: At first the people of Gondor tolerated Castamir because of his pure Númenórean blood. Then, in 1447, Castamir, now called "the Usurper" by his people was overthrown after a decade of wicked rule with the people now rallying around the true king, Eldacar.
AriehnV: just to make that clear of Castamir , his claim and why the Usurper I)
galdorandwe has left the room.
AriehnV has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: No mention that he ignored the lands and cared only for the ships.
ArPharazonV: Interesting how the links from the article carry over into AIM. If I click on one of those names (like Valacar) it takes me to the wiki in my browser.
AriehnV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiyata Arien
AriehnV: hantal
AriehnV: i think we need someone rescuing the company out of the mess we gotten us in
AriehnV: if u want i ll write a patrol which does just that ;-)
ArPharazonV: That was already the plan, yes. I'm not sure if Eonwe was going to write it though.
Eonwe Valar: That was the plan, to have a patrol come along.
Eonwe Valar: As I mentioned above though, I'm doing research for an Elves article, that may have some bearing on my post. Let me finish the article, and I will add to the RP.
VardaValar1: Or maybe the bad guy will show up and we get into a talk and confrontation with him?
Eonwe Valar: The bad guy did show up and we are talking to him :}
ArPharazonV: *grin*
Eonwe Valar: Assuming Calaron counts as the bad guy :}
ArPharazonV: There's no other around.
AriehnV: do u want a conversation or do u want the patrol just butting in there and Calaron escapes through his dark arts?
AriehnV: in confusion of the revitalising battle?> but with the odds against him this time
Eonwe Valar: My intention is for Auros to come off with a haughty response to Calaron. Hard to do that if everything moves ahead :}
VardaValar1: *jumps to the Forum*
VardaValar1: Nice, dramatic post, Phar!
ArPharazonV: hadn't seen it yet Varda?
VardaValar1: I need to re-set the email notifications. Right.
Eonwe Valar: I think it was added before I started shifting aroudn the boards.
ArPharazonV: I think it was during, actually.
VardaValar1: Missed Indis' too. Another good one on the drama.
ArPharazonV: Remember the day I told you I couldn't see any letters on it, with the new functions etc?
Eonwe Valar: Yeah.
ArPharazonV: That was the day I made the post.
Eonwe Valar: ok.
VardaValar1: Indis' line here is priceless: on the assumption that bigger and louder made a leader among orcs
ArPharazonV: can anyone find an example in LotR where this is not the case? :-)
Eonwe Valar: I think those skilled on orc-lore will agree it's the tendency :}
Eonwe Valar: *skilled in
VardaValar1: Nope, not a one Phar. : )
VardaValar1: Are you guys getting the same email notification as before when there's a new post that is bookmarked?
Eonwe Valar: I check the almost forum quite often, so I don't bother with the e-mail notifications, actually.
ArPharazonV: Same as Eonwe.
Eonwe Valar: *scratch the almost part
ArPharazonV: I check the forum once a day.
ArPharazonV: 10 most recent posts, really helpful ;-)
VardaValar1: Aye, I use that a lot. :-)
ArPharazonV: Doesn't happen very often that there's more than 10 new posts in a day.
AriehnV: i dont get any
AriehnV: and actually to be honest i d love to have the newest post at the top .. and a nice toggle on/arrow to "previous page " of "next page" ;-)
AriehnV: but thats me being off and revolutionary again :-P
ArPharazonV: it is at the top, of each section :-)
ArPharazonV: you would rather have all the threads in one big section?
ArPharazonV: oh, sorry, you mean *within* the thread
VardaValar1: I wonder if it could be shown in reverse order with a preferred skin. The 10 most recent posts are that way.
Eonwe Valar: Could check your profiles.
Eonwe Valar: See if there's a personal setting.
ArPharazonV: Would be awkward. I don't remember any forum where posts go upward. People like to read from top to bottom.
VardaValar1: Maybe if you just use the 10 most recent, that would work for you Arien?
Eonwe Valar: I agree with Phar. I prefer the standard order.
VardaValar1: I do too for the story.
AriehnV: i ll have alook
ArPharazonV: It works for the 10 most recent, but mostly because they don't all belong to the same thread.
VardaValar1: Except that it hasn't been the most recent posting.
Eonwe Valar: Each board name has a link to the most recent post in that board in the right column.

AriehnV: where do u change settings>
Eonwe Valar: "Profile" among the top links.
VardaValar1: True, the most recent is available.
Eonwe Valar: It'll bring up your profile for the forum, then click "Modify Profile."
Eonwe Valar: A person's profile will also tell you that person's most recent posts, if that's of any interest.
Eonwe Valar: You access that by clicking on their name.
VardaValar1: I've been looking under "Modify Profile" and not finding the part about the email for the bookmark, but remember it being possible.
Eonwe Valar: I assume it uses your registered e-mail, and you have to go to the actual thread you want bookmarked.
VardaValar1: Bookmarks/Manage Bookmarks
VardaValar1: Drop down box has Email as a choice.
Eonwe Valar: OK.
VardaValar1: All set. : )
Eonwe Valar: :}

VardaValar1: We should let our amazing Netherlander buddies get some sleep. Must be beastly late there!
Eonwe Valar: It is Aftermeeting. They're free to get some sleep as soon a sthey want it :}
VardaValar1: Good point
VardaValar1: Namarie for now!
Eonwe Valar: Take care Varda :}
AriehnV: i am in the Uk
VardaValar1: o cool!
AriehnV: but i am off tomorrow
VardaValar1: That helps!
VardaValar1: What time is it for you, Sunshine?
AriehnV: 00.19
VardaValar1: eep
Eonwe Valar: So now the question comes; Did Arien get the Summer Festival title in LotRO? :}
ArPharazonV: 's an hour later for us
ArPharazonV: But I'm reading anyway, so no intention on going yet.
AriehnV: most of my charris did
Eonwe Valar: OK, then you know why I ask :}
Eonwe Valar: Unless my memory is off and it's some other event that gives the title "Sunshine" :}
AriehnV: oh aye .. Arrieh Sunshine
AriehnV: hehe
VardaValar1: Perfect :-)
Eonwe Valar: Arien is the one member in the guild that *has* to have that title, hehe :}
AriehnV: theres a wee champion in the game now by the name of Franli
AriehnV: a dwarf of course
AriehnV: i wanted Frali but that was taken
karakedi25 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Could always edit your RP posts ;-)
Eonwe Valar: *Shudders at the amount of editting that would take*
AriehnV: hehe
fladrifv has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: I'd stick to Frali in the RP. Don't want someone to come along and take that here too, hehe :}
Eonwe Valar: (I know the odds of that happening are very low :})
VardaValar1: Anyone know if Flad got the free to play LotRO?
ArPharazonV: No idea. If I remember to, I'll ask him next time I see him online.
AriehnV: would he be able to get the american ftp version?
VardaValar1: I think so. Not sure how they go about that.
VardaValar1: Namarie for now
AriehnV: probably from www. lotro.com instead of eu
AriehnV: or Turbine
VardaValar1 has left the room.
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: gonna save and send
Eonwe Valar: Correction for the meeting: Brewfest apparently begins Monday.
ArPharazonV: well that's not going to be on my transcript.
ArPharazonV: since it's already sent
Eonwe Valar: I was going to send a copy anyway, np.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
ArPharazonV has left the room.
