Tar-Ancalimon
by Daeron-(V)
Sept. 12, 2002
Tar-Ancalimon, son of Tar-Atanamir,
was the fourteenth King of Numenor and a dunadan. During his
reign, the Numenorians began to speak openly of rebelling against the
Valar and Eldar, and began to take pride in their own wealth and
power. The realm had split into two groups of people: the King's
Men, who followed the orders and laws of Tar-Ancalimon; and the
Elendili, the Elf-friends, the Faithful, who continued thier friendship
with the Eldar (elves).
Tar-Ancalimon broke away from the traditions of
worshipping and giving
dedication to Eru,
but did not give up the usage of Elvish in Royal
names. This could be because of the ill omen of Manwe's
eagles
leaving their eyries in Armenelos and never returning.
He died refusing to give up his life before he
decayed in body and
spirit. He was succeeded by his son, Tar-Telemmaite, who was greedy for
gold and silver, and who followed in all the ways of his father.
