Eorl's successor, Brego, was a great warrior. He drove the enemy out of the Wold, and in the ensuing peace the great hall of Meduseld was completed (TA 2569). At that same feast, Brego's son, Baldor, vowed to walk the Paths of the Dead or not return. When he didn't return, Brego died of grief.
