April 16, 2016
I'm pleased to announce Conan is done, except for gluing him to the
base. I'm very happy with how he turned out, and want to say a special
thanks to Mark Van Tine for such a beautiful sculpture. While I'm at
it, I also want to commend the caster for a flawless product. In many
ways this was full of new challenges, but as I look at it I feel glad I
raised the bar. If I can safely transport him he will go to my local
contest next Saturday. 🙂

Progress photos:
March 19, 2016 Progress
on Conan has been slow, but I'm trying to get back into my groove. His
skin color is a mix of Humbrol flesh and brown. I'm very happy with how
my efforts to hide the union of his arms to his body turned out.
Shading on the skin will be a great challenge. I didn't paint his face
yet because I have an idea that might make mine a bit different from
everyone else's. 😬

March 24, 2016
(Conan in the paint room) I finally bought a board to put between my
shelf units. Freed up some space for future projects. While I was on a
roll, I took pictures of the rest of my work. Most of it, anyway.
Looking closely some of you sculptors might recognize your products in
my collection.
March 30, 2016 Slow
progress. I still have to paint his eyes, and add highlights to his
face. I'm basically working my way down. 🙂
March 30, 2016
Little more progress tonight. Painted his eyes, and
highlighted his face. Also began the tedious task of shading his
muscles. Tomorrow night I plan to gloss his eyes, and continue muscle
shading. One whole evening will be devoted to his hands. 😬
April 3, 2016 Progress to write about. I solved my dilemma with Conan's
sword blade. I used a product named Bare Metal Foil in a chrome finish.
It looks like metal because it is metal. It covered perfectly, and
allowed the blade details to show through. Hope to have new photos
later this week. 🙂
April 6, 2016 More progress.
Did his hands, and the sword. There is some detailing to do on both,
but next will be shading his legs.

April 7, 2016 Shaded legs
tonight, and painted the scars and veins. Added semi-gloss to his
fingernails and jewels around the sword handle. Next is the boots, so
he won't look like a go-go dancer.
April 10, 2016 Been busy
today. Painted boots and undies. Moved my work light to show his face
better.
April 16, 2016 (completed, pics at the top of the page) April 18 (pics
reposted, as the combo of sweat surface sheen plus background color
made him look bright yellow)
