We are still getting used to the new schedule, which could change at
the drop of a helmet.
Anything else going on more interesting than dinner? : )

Weatherstock, the epic in-game, player-organized

15th year, its organizers announced today.
The concert will take place on July 22nd, though
a concert series will also happen this weekend to whet player's
appetites.

Historical note: Devs were testing a server load, and a bunch of
minstrels came uo with Weatherstock.
Eventually, it was moved from Weathertop because it's a pain for
everyone to get to Weathertop, and not much room. This year,
however, Lonely Mountain Band is providing an escort service to
Weathertop. Different areas are being used for practice and rest,
such as the base of Weathertop by Candaith's camp.

[4:45 PM]
Discord jpgs I have to add even the link.
Shelob — Yesterday at 4:45 PM

I can leave it out. I can also leave out links if requested.

flowery colours.

Shelob — Yesterday at 4:54 PM
Oh, I have many, many more dresses.
[4:55 PM]
Anyways, that was it. I'm curious for today's Tolkien topic.
Varda — Yesterday at 4:55 PM
Are we ready for Tolkien, before Arien has to leave?
Alrighty.
[4:56 PM]
Pippin is at the Gate of Morannon, the Black
Gate, with Aragorn's armies. He is the only Hobbit. Why wasn't he
left behind in Minas Tirith to tend Merry?
Frodo and Sam are in Mordor.
[4:57 PM]
(Sauron is 5'11")
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:57 PM
Simple: someone had to represent the Hobbits before the Black Gate,
and ditto for the Dwarves and the Elves....besides, they had
excellent healers back in Minas Tirith tending Merry.
Varda — Yesterday at 4:57 PM
Good answer, Sandalf.
As in most cases, there is more than one reason.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:57 PM
For sure.
Varda — Yesterday at 4:57 PM
That would be the main one.
[4:58 PM]
A quote backs up what Sandalf said:
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 4:58 PM
and Pippin probably was thinking "I have to catch up with Merry
after him killing the Witchking~ "
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:58 PM
He also wasn't injured himself and still part of Gondor's army
Varda — Yesterday at 4:58 PM
When all was ordered, the Captains rode forth towards
the Black Gate with a great guard of horsemen and the banner and
heralds and trumpeters. There was Gandalf as chief herald, and
Aragorn with the sons of Elrond, and Eomer of Rohan, and Imrahil;
and Legolas and Gimli and Peregrin were bidden to go also, so that
all the enemies of Mordor should have a witness.
[4:58 PM]
Arien, aye!
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
so it suited him as well even if he might have felt a bit out of
place and small
Varda — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
Phar is also right.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
Ghan-Buri-Ghan had sent no one.
Varda — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
That slacker. : )
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
And he had a new friend in the Gondorian army whom he had to protect
from a big troll!
Shelob — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
Didn't Denethord dismiss Pippin from his service before his demise?
Varda — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
Maybe Men were enough?
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
IT is also sort of sad to think about that fact...there were only
THREE Elves present, ONE Dwarf, and ONE Hobbit...amongst several
thousand Men. I think Tolkien was trying to segue into the idea that
the Fourth Age would be the Age of Men (and Women)...the others
would go West, or dwindle.
Varda — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
Aye, Sandalf. He did.
Note that Legolas is there for the Elves.
[5:00 PM]
At least for Mirkwood.
But Elladan and Elrohir are half-elves.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:00 PM
He is one of the three....Elladan, ELrohir, and Legolas.
True,, but they had the life of the Eldar.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:00 PM
The Age of Man, as in Mankind.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:00 PM
And yet, they chose to remain behind with the race of Men.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:01 PM
Elladan and Elrohir can't really be counted as Half Men though.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:01 PM
Perhaps Legolas also represents Ghan-Buri-Ghan as a woodland people!
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:01 PM
It was only after Elessar accepted the Gift of Iluvatar that Legolas
and Gimli set sail...
Varda — Yesterday at 5:01 PM
Aye, Sandalf.
[5:02 PM]
Ok, going to try not to tangent. oof argh
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:02 PM
Tangent'R'Us.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:02 PM
More on Pippin, not a quote, but a shortening:
The Mouth of Sauron, also called the Messenger, shows spoils taken
from Frodo looking for reaction. Pippin gives him one.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:02 PM
As for the age of men arriving, I'm not too sure, but wasn't that
pretty much evident from the start?
Varda — Yesterday at 5:03 PM
The Age of Men didn't happen until Elrond left.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:03 PM
A shortening... that a size pun?
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:03 PM
Didn't whoever it was that sheltered Frodo and Sam off the road in
the Shire say that the time of the Elves was gone and that they were
moving into the West?
Varda — Yesterday at 5:03 PM
Would I do that, Phar? er yes. cough
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:03 PM
Gildor
Varda — Yesterday at 5:04 PM
It was already beginning, but not yet realized/official until Elrond
left.
Quote:
Pippin who stood behind Prince Imrahil sprang forward
with a cry of grief.
End quote
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:04 PM
Was it the destruction of the Ring or the coronation of Aragorn that
ushered in the 4th Age, the Age of Men?
Varda — Yesterday at 5:05 PM
When Pippin showed strong recognition and caring seeing Frodo's
stuff in enemy hands, it was proven that they knew and cared. The
others showed sorrow as well.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:05 PM
The Third Age was spent with Elves (the Eldar at least) doing
nothing new and mostly sailing into the West or sitting around in
their remaining refuges biding their time.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:05 PM
It was Elrond's leaving.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:05 PM
I thought the Fourth Age begin with the destruction of the Ring.
May 25th as I recall.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:05 PM
The Mouth says they can't deny the tokens now, and Gandalf says he
knows the objects and all their history, which Mordor can't say it
knows. So the Mouth says the prisoner (who has actually escaped but
Mouthy doesn't mention that) will be tortured for a very long time
unless the delegation gives up a lot for him.
Gandalf appears beaten and lets the Mouth ask for huge amounts that
would take a lot of war to gain and refuses to show the prisoner
before the concessions are made.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:05 PM
*began
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:06 PM
So Pippin was there to spoil Gandalf's poker face.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:06 PM
Once the Mouth has shown that there was really no treating with this
lot so all assembled can be sure, Gandalf throws off his cloak and
gives off a white light.
(Pippin was there to help Gandalf's appearance)
His upraised hand makes the Mouth recoil and Gandalf grabs the items
"in memory of our friend", and dismisses the Mouth. The Mouth
becomes fearful of the whole delegation, leaps back on his steed,
and gallops with his company back inside. Once the Mouth is inside,
Sauron springs the expected trap.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:06 PM
Quick search on the intwebs: (quote)
The Fourth Age was held to have begun with the passing
of the Ring-bearers over the sea from Mithlond on 29 September III
3021, though in Gondor it was reckoned as beginning on 25 March of
the same year (that date being the second anniversary of the
Downfall of Barad-dûr).
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
well as much as i am loth to I have to leave
Varda — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
The passing of the Ring-bearers includes Elrond.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
Thus, it would be exactly as Varda said, with the passing of Elrond.
:)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
Namarie, Arien!
Varda — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
Namarie, Arien!

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
Namarie!
Well, at least I had a date right :)
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
Namarie all :)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
And Galadriel, and Gandalf....all at the same time...
Varda — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
Sam went later.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
I have a story about that...
Varda — Yesterday at 5:08 PM
But the rest of the living ring-bearers went then.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:08 PM
Not quite so. Sam went later. :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:08 PM
Fun doing two topics at once.
[5:08 PM]
Aye, we all kind of mentioned Sam together. : )
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:08 PM
Btw, didn't Sam go later?
Varda — Yesterday at 5:08 PM
There you go! hehe
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:09 PM
Much later
Varda — Yesterday at 5:09 PM
By Elven standards, a little while. : )
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:09 PM
At least a goodsized gaggle of hobbit children later. :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:09 PM
hehe
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:09 PM
By Valinor standards, he must've arrived right on Frodo's heels :)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:09 PM
And a visit from King Elessar Telcontar at the Brandywine Bridge...
Varda — Yesterday at 5:09 PM
One last Pippin thing, relating to Phar's correct statement earlier.
[5:10 PM]
Pippin draws his sword and looks at it, thinking. One thought is:
@Varda
Fun doing two topics at once.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:10 PM
Tangents 'r us. I've said this since at least 1999 I reckon. :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:10 PM
Quote:
"If only I could smite that foul Messenger with it, then
almost I should draw level with old Merry."
End quote
Does Pippin do a fighting deed worth having his presence in the
battle?
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:10 PM
And all he got in the end was a lousy troll. :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:10 PM
hehe
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:10 PM
Tangent: It seems sometime in the Fourth Age, Elvish aging sped up
from a 1:100 ratio compared to normal Men, to a 1:75.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:11 PM
T-shirt now means Troll-shirt?
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:11 PM
Wasn't it a troll chieftain, even? :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:11 PM
It was
Quote:
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:11 PM
Absolutely. A troll is not quite as big and event as the killing of
the Witch King, but it was a good deed, worthy of praise.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:11 PM
At Pippin's side Beregond was stunned and overborne, and
he fell; and the great troll-chief that smote him down bent over
him, reaching out with a clutching claw; for these foul creatures
would bite the throats of those that they threw down.
Then Pippin stabbed upwards, and the written blade of Westernesse
pierced through the hide and went deep into the vitals of the
troll, and his black blood came gushing out.
He toppled forward and came crashing down like a falling rock,
burying those beneath him.
Blackness and stench and crushing pain came upon Pippin, and his
mind fell away into a great darkness.
end quote
[5:12 PM]
I'll quote some more shortly : )
But how about that? That troll was enormous!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
Indeed, so can't miss him when you stab :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
hehe. Take that, toe!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
Heh, like Broxigar slashing Sargeras in the toe during the War of
the Ancients...
Varda — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
Pippin handles the ending of the chapter with a eucatastrophe of
hope.
@Ar-Pharazon-V
Indeed, so can't miss him when you stab
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
I guess we can't really give Sam credit either then. :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
I can give Sam lots of credit for not running away!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
True, that!
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
I believe that Tolkien suggested somewhere that the true hero of the
LoTR was Sam.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
Quote:
"So it ends as I guessed it would," his thoughts said,
even as it fluttered away; and it laughed a little within him ere
it fled, almost gay it seemed to be casting off at last all doubt
and care and fear.
And then even as it winged away into forgetfulness it heard
voices, and they seemed to be crying in some forgotten world far
above:
"The Eagles are coming! The Eagles are coming!
For one moment more PIppin's thought hovered. "Bilbo!" it said.
"But no! That came in his tale, long long ago. This is my tale,
and it is ended now. Good-bye!" And his thought fled far away and
his eyes saw no more.
End quote
[5:15 PM]
So it leaves us with a cliff-hanger there.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
Hey, you can't blame little old me for trying to diminish that
little pipsqueak's exploits. Dang hobbits. Grumble
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
I wouldn't mind going out like that.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
heh
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
Just... forgotten and at peace.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
Aye.
[5:15 PM]
Then comes the tale of Frodo, Sam, Gollum, and the Ring who bring
about that hope.
The tale goes right back to what Pippin heard.
[5:16 PM]
In RotK, "The Field of Cormallen"
(jumped from RotK, "The Black Gate Opens")
In RotK, "The Field of Cormallen", we find that the call about the
Eagles came from Gandalf and that many repeated it.
The Eagles were many, not just the greatest ones, but also their
vassals from the northern mountains.
Quote:
Straight down upon the Nazgul they bore, stooping
suddenly out of the high airs, and the rush of their wide wings as
they passed over was like a gale.
But the Nazgul turned and fled, and vanished into Mordor's
shadows, hearing a sudden terrible call out of the Dark Tower; and
even at that moment all the hosts of Mordor trembled, doubt
clutched their hearts, their laughter failed, their hands shook
and their limbs were loosed.
The Power that drove them on and filled them with hate and fury
was wavering, its will was removed from them; and now looking in
the eyes of their enemies they saw a deadly light and were afraid.
End quote.
[5:18 PM]
So Pippin bridged the story for us.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:18 PM
"Doubt clutched their hearts" --- Now there's a picture painted.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:18 PM
Aye.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:18 PM
Typical Tolkien laconic statement....
That means so much in so few words..
Varda — Yesterday at 5:19 PM
All the other bits with it give a strong feeling.
Aye. For a long tale, a lot is told in a short space.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:20 PM
Word artistry at its very best.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:20 PM
Agreed. : )
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:21 PM
And now I'm off for a few minutes, putting out the green trash :)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:21 PM
In that spare quote, two of the words of Germanic (clutch and
heart), and only one is Latin (Doubt). Shows Tolkien's
preference for OE words.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:22 PM
Aiya Pengolodh : )
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:22 PM
Aiya Pengolodh!
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:22 PM
Sunday Gaming Update: Finally moving into the Misty Mountains.
Working through the book quests. Maxed out current Virtues, which is
a first for me. :) Finished an interesting run with Legolas through
the vale. Started to also play an old game, star wars battlefront 2
:) The game is on its last legs population wise. :) but still very
enjoyable.
@Sandalf13
Aiya Pengolodh!
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:22 PM
Aiya
Varda — Yesterday at 5:23 PM
You've been busy!
Grats on the Virtues. That really helps up your operations.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:26 PM
Not as busy i would of hoped. Thanks. I didnt keep on top of
them on my main on laurelin, and im still paying for it. Thinking of
moving my main to evernight though... laurelin has become kinda dull
community wise evernight i hear is buzzing.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:26 PM
Aiya Pengolodh!
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:27 PM
Aiya Pharazon !
Varda — Yesterday at 5:27 PM
Three of us tried to catch your attention the other night, hehe. You
must have been some kind of busy!
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:27 PM
my goal is get my RK up to at least 120 for gundabad on landroval.
Im super keen to get my house decorated.. and becoming useful for
end content lol :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:28 PM
Also, you'll want to catch up on the other Virtues. You get to use
the bottom list on the Virtue at all times as if that part is
equipped.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:28 PM
RL is awful busy for me.. i just about slipped on here tonight!
Work, Parttime University, Projects ... never ending.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:28 PM
We have need of folks at all levels. And crafter.
Sounds like RL : )
We'll be around. : )
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:29 PM
crafying im working on jeweler!
i want to have that capped by 120, for gundabad.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:30 PM
That's a great idea
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:31 PM
Do you guys run raids etc anymore :) trust me... i put no pressure
on any such actions :) I just like to plan ahead :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:31 PM
We do instances. Sometimes join into raids.
Missions too. [Note: and skirmishes that allow from solo on up to
large groups]
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:31 PM
expectations and the like.. I like to be an effective member of a
team :)
ah.. i do missions! well i have with this RK. enjoyable.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
Crafting, chatting, helping each other at all levels are all fun.
Missions can be duoed. Some trioed.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
i never understood why folk always complained about missions. i find
them refreshing
Varda — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
You're listening to World Chat. : )
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
nooooooo :) lol ok.. a little bit lol
Varda — Yesterday at 5:33 PM
Many think complaining or tearing something down makes them look
smart. Take complaints with a grain of salt.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:33 PM
I wonder if they do instances in Sandalf's LotRO workshop.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:33 PM
they are probably the most upset people in the world at times
Varda — Yesterday at 5:33 PM
I listen to World Chat too. : ) Part of my being an old
recruiter. Haven't been doing much of that lately, but get to see
people.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:33 PM
Lotro workshop :) what is this ? :)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:34 PM
The ones having fun tend to be having fun. Lot of people turn off
WC. Most of our group turns it off.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:34 PM
i like talking to the regulars. I have a few little friends who like
to shoot the breeze
Varda — Yesterday at 5:34 PM
Ahh, that's something Sandalf is trying so he can understand the
basics like WASD etc. All new for him.
[5:35 PM]
I also like that. You can see me chat in there too. : )
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
i have heard this.. you know, ive never considered it.. but i can
honesty see why. I do find it a bit of a distraction
Varda — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
I see you chatting.
The simplest thing to do is set up several tabs.
One includes General and one does not. : )
Simetimes need peace. Especially when they go into politics.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:36 PM
Never seen the politics.. but ive heard it happens alot.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:36 PM
gavel hops along the firepit along the center of the table
[5:36 PM]
It does happen a lot. I've seen too much of it.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:36 PM
First thing I do when creating a new character: Set up a different
tab.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:36 PM
Navy Wardroom Rules....never discuss Women, Religion, or Poilitics.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:36 PM
Aye, Sheob.
That is wisdom, Sandalf. : )
[5:37 PM]
the gavel is lost, trips over the hammerpad that shot underneath
it
Thwonkk! Saved from the firepit
top
After-meeting!
[5:38 PM]
In the guild, we attempt to keep politics and religion to what is in
Tolkien's world, leaving most of RL out of it.
We hear it enough outside.
But when it does come up, this group is pretty civil.
[5:39 PM]
We all know how to "bite the tongue".
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:39 PM
I need to get some dinner (it is almost 1700 here) and will return
for Ar's report later. Namarie!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:39 PM
Enjoy!

John Wayne- I Won’t Be Wronged, I Won’t Be

Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:40 PM
Yeah. I never understood why folk would bring RL stuff into a
fantasy game. I have the same problem on my FB group. I am always
try to steer folk towards the fictional history of middleearth.. but
they cant let go off the outside world! comparing Sauron to
someone.. etc.. and using it to springboard into silly
conversations. it can be disappointing.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:41 PM
We do have our own form of RP for the Valar Guild that crosses all
games, including whatever we're playing.
[5:42 PM]
We are each the fea of some character from Tolkien's works. You are
Pengolodh's fea.
[5:42 PM]
Each of us has been sent into various forms to learn, prior to the
building of Arda Renewed, so that we can understand and make it
right.
[5:42 PM]
Takes a lot of learning.
[5:43 PM]
That's why we can telepathically talk across anywhere to the other
learning fea.
[5:43 PM]
We can recognize the others that are doing the same thing and call
them by that name, even in a completely different form.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:43 PM
I'm not just a fea, I'm literally typing this from the Forgotten
Caves. I just pretend to be a Dutch guy.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:43 PM
hehe
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:44 PM
That i am! with a particular interest in all things that are
numenroean
Varda — Yesterday at 5:44 PM
Our fea is not bound to one time or place or body.
[5:44 PM]
We can specialize. ; )
[5:44 PM]
Phar is rebuilding his rep after being dumped in a hole in Valinor.
: )
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:44 PM
Where did you find the resources to invent the interwebs?
Varda — Yesterday at 5:44 PM
We're Valar. We invented resources.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:45 PM
We dug out a bit under the sea and hooked into an internet cable.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:45 PM
I'm into light especially. Try out the new fiber optic?
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:46 PM
Ah, Varda's making, should have known
Varda — Yesterday at 5:46 PM
Can't have you stuck in that place without a way to learn!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:46 PM
Indeed!
[5:46 PM]
We make our own computers, too. Lots of silicon in these caves.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:47 PM
Dont we know lol oh Pharazon! but honestly i never blamed
Phar. Sauron used the one ring on you. (although never
mentioned but still.. he had it with him) and be fair, you held on
for a long long time.! Lesser men would of fallen faster. So, from a
numenorean scholar.. you have my respect and pity.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:47 PM
Light passed along glass. Varda and Aulë teamup?
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:47 PM
Now I know why the Valar bent the world. Pesky humans would probably
find a way to mine out the entirety of Valinor.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 5:48 PM
hold up.. your developing computers in the caves underneath
valinor.... *looks through book...."my god
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:49 PM
I think it's a bit more likely we're all figments of Pharzie's
completely deranged mind from spending several thousand years
completely alone.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:49 PM
Gotta do something to spend the time. Do you know how boring it is
down here?
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:50 PM
At least I get the occasional visit from an orc or gobbo.
[5:50 PM]
Not much for conversation those are though.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:50 PM
Mostly along the "aargh not in the face" variety?
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:50 PM
and the 'please don't eat me' variety.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:52 PM
By the way, what do you use in the way of cave lighting these days?
I hear they're making great progress with those luminescent
mushrooms, but haven't gotten around to trying them.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:53 PM
Lighting? You know who I am right? I spin darkness along with my
webs.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:53 PM
Yeah, but if you're like your mom, you do like the shinies, right?
Varda — Yesterday at 5:53 PM
Eater of light, needs more to eat.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
I like the shinies be in my belly. I don't like shinies to be around
and be... shiny. They are better off being dark.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
How about mine shaft light, glowing crystals, bioluminscent bugs and
molds?
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
Food.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
Just eat the light, not the source. Then don't run out as fast.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
And mine shafts get extra special thick webbing.
[5:55 PM]
I'm momma's kid. Who am I if I don't splurge and indulge?
[5:55 PM]
Think I'd grow so big and awesome if I didn't?
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:55 PM
If you can't even handle the Phial, I wonder if Ungoliant would've
exploded after eating the Silmarilli.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:56 PM
I'm not THAT greedy.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:56 PM
Carcharoth didn't handle that one Silmaril very well.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:56 PM
Besides, the Silmarils would light up my belly like a christmas
tree. Hard to stay inconspicuous that way.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
hehe
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
Yeah, but Charcharoth was not Ungoliant.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
Stick some web-made wings on you and you can pass for a glowfly.
Shelob — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
He was made by Morgoth, in mockery of Huan if memory serves.
[5:57 PM]
Ungoliant was a match for Melkor himself.
[5:58 PM]
Which means that the Silmarils would still burn her from the inside
out, but I think it would take a long, long time to kill her.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:58 PM
Bred by Morgoth, with the intent of pitting him against Huan.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:59 PM
In any case, skip eating Silmarils. : )
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:59 PM
Terrible indigestion.
Varda — Yesterday at 6:00 PM
And oh, the belching!
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:04 PM
Surely they didn't put you down there without a lamp surely
someone visited.. what are you eating
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:05 PM
chews down some moss
Varda — Yesterday at 6:05 PM
We keep an eye and ear on everything. : )
[6:06 PM]
Light comes from above, and from crystals, moss, insects. If they're
not all eaten.
[6:06 PM]
Do they really need food? Are they truly still so much in their
hroar?
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:06 PM
By any chance you didn't bump into Amandil .. you know your old
besty. I always suspected he was put in a hole too lol
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:06 PM
We're still human. Don't eat a lot of crystals. May grind one now
and then into fine pieces and use as salt.
Varda — Yesterday at 6:07 PM
Might check those food baskets being lowered down regularly.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:07 PM
Surely you wouldn't feed us Amandil?
Varda — Yesterday at 6:07 PM
Nope. : )
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:08 PM
And his servant too lol
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:08 PM
Now I know who's been trolling me online from the other end of the
cave.
Varda — Yesterday at 6:08 PM
Note also the cave tunnels, perhaps hidden behind some of the
crystals.
[6:08 PM]
Amandil! Who are you picking on?
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:10 PM
The people of middleearth demand an answer.. what did ye do with
Amandil. Lol
[6:10 PM]
Varda — Yesterday at 6:10 PM
Demand?
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:11 PM
Ahhh...a request.. (edited)
[6:11 PM]
Bowing our heads.. with upmost respect
Varda — Yesterday at 6:12 PM
Amandil came sailing towards Valinor, but he was not the one we were
supposed to receive.
[6:13 PM]
However, we listen, we care. The Faithful were born on the waves to
Middle-earth.
[6:13 PM]
A human cannot live long in Valinor. His hroa cannot take it.
[6:13 PM]
But humans come for a short time to Mandos, to reflect, then go on
outside the circles of Arda.
[6:13 PM]
It may be they go even to Eru.
[6:14 PM]
Thus in his due time, he will be in a very wonderful place.
[6:14 PM]
They may all see each other again in Arda Renewed, perhaps.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:15 PM
So what did you do to Amandil? Send him down to Mandos?
Varda — Yesterday at 6:15 PM
Even our Phar here, who has worked to redeem himself.
[6:15 PM]
Only after his hroar wore out in the glories of Valinor.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:15 PM
Or maybe he is down here... initial decorator...
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:15 PM
Ah yes.. they come upon the straight way.. either by chance or the
will of the valar... where they see the great mountain of aman..
before they die
Varda — Yesterday at 6:15 PM
Then he went in honor to see Namo, and reflect.
[6:16 PM]
It's a very nice mountain. ; )
[6:16 PM]
They live a while, and can walk in Valinor for a time. Before their
bodies wear out.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:16 PM
Very nice indeed
Varda — Yesterday at 6:16 PM
Then they, as they would in any case, see the Vala of Fate, the
Doomsman Namo, in Mandos.
[6:17 PM]
And perhaps even Vaire, to look upon their lives.
[6:17 PM]
in the weaving.
[6:17 PM]
And see that they had purpose.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:17 PM
Truly a gift if any.
Varda — Yesterday at 6:17 PM
More than they know.
[6:18 PM]
Once they are ready to see Eru, they may leave beyond the sight of
the Valar.
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:18 PM
Time for me to sleep (RL)
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:18 PM
Namarie
Varda — Yesterday at 6:18 PM
Sleep well! Irmo awaits in Lorien!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:18 PM
Just don't stay when you wake up!
Varda — Yesterday at 6:18 PM
It's a nice place. : )
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:19 PM
Namarie. It was an honor !
Varda — Yesterday at 6:19 PM
Drop by the Cottage of Play.
[6:19 PM]
Namarie!
Pengolodh — Yesterday at 6:19 PM
I will !
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:19 PM
Quick flyby over Tol Eressea?
[6:19 PM]
Where the Cottage was, I believe.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 6:24 PM
Cottage of Lost Play, aye.
Varda — Yesterday at 6:24 PM
Aye it was
[6:24 PM]
Had to double check. : )
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 7:20 PM
Heh, just found the remains in Kehjistan of the Diablo 3 Act 2
basecamp above Caldeum. Nice reference to the old game, even if the
place has collapsed a bit in 50 years
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 7:34 PM
Look who I just found!
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 7:58 PM
Are you still gaming Ar?
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:00 PM

Diablo 4:
Spent a bunch more time in there this week, though I didn't have as
much time for it as I did last week.
[9:10 PM]
Did all of Act V, visiting the Tree of Whispers, finding Elias'
secret of immortality within a sunken temple - the shipwrecks you
need to cross to get there are beautifully made as terrain - and
repairing and attuning the soulstone to be able to capture Lilith.
We then finally managed to slay Elias, completing Act V.
[9:13 PM]
Also started Act VI, about halfway through, chasing Lilith to a gate
to Hell underneath the city of Caldeum, while the angel Inarius and
his army of the Cathedral of the Light does the same, seeking to
fulfill the prophecy. He's now taken the stone, while my party
joined the cathedral leadership in infiltrating the palace, slaying
a Lesser Evil, Duriel, along the way. Now I'm almost ready to enter
the gate!
[9:14 PM]
Along the way I got from level 42 to 46, getting all my currently
used abilities to level 5, meaning I can spend all talent points
from now on on passive skills instead.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:16 PM
I also completed Renown level 1 in the region of Hawezar, and
stumbled on Brigandine Barding armor for my horse from a random
monster.
[9:17 PM]
Next week I intend to finish the campaign, and start season 1 as
well! Though I'm not sure if I'll pick up more Renown first.
[9:19 PM]
Hearthstone: Level 126 on the reward track now, getting enough gold
to buy the golden miniset: Audiopocalypse.
[9:21 PM]
Yet another quest event is going, but this one is a lot bigger, for
Midsummer. 3 weeks, 3000 xp, and 2 series of quests, one for ranked
mode and one for battlegrounds. The first series should soon be
complete, and is almost enough to reach 3000 xp. Though I might need
to do a single battleground or something to finish the track
[9:23 PM]
Brawl is Mimirons' Faceoff: Two Mimiron's Heads face off against
each other with mecha-filled decks, and a passive heroic ability to
summon Voltron if you have 3 mechs on the board at the start of your
turn.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:24 PM
Since Voltron is powerful enough to sway the board and thus prevent
your opponent from getting any, the brawl basically boils down to
getting Voltron first, and so it is easy to surrender if you know
you've lost that early race. Makes for some short matches sometimes!
[9:24 PM]
WoW:
For raiding, another kill on Echo of Neltharion, giving us 2 out of
3 quest items to unlock the shortcut on heroic.
[9:25 PM]
Went rather more easily than the first time, as well.
[9:26 PM]
Weekly is battlegrounds, which has gotten me a few more objectives
for the trading post currency. Between the next line of timewalks
and, if needed, catching a few dozen fish, I should easily make the
cap before the end of the month.
Oh, and I got to honor level 112 as well through those
battlegrounds.
[9:27 PM]
Patch is here! Had to reassign a few talent points, but druid got
off rather lightly compared to some other classes. As my fire-mage
found out.
[9:28 PM]
Changed my cat and bearforms for the patch, choosing some sandy
colors to match the hourglass/timetravel theme
[9:29 PM]
Got 2 new toys! Or rather, with this patch, the Garrison and Dalaran
hearthstones have been turned into toys. Seeing as I still spend a
lot of time at the garrison, having to use an actionbar slot instead
of a bagslot for the hearthstone takes a bit getting used to. But
hey, inventory space!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:31 PM
Went to the megadungeon with some friends. I'm not big into
megadungeons when they come out, but in this case I wanted the
title, maybe some dragonriding customizations, and had plenty of
friends going there too. It also gives Aspects' crests and sometimes
a random transmog appearance that you don't have yet from the past,
so it's worth going.
[9:31 PM]
Was a pretty fun journey through time
[9:33 PM]
And indeed, I got the Infinite scale customization for one of my
dragonriding mounts, which happened to be my favorite, the
Velocidrake. To complete the image I also wanted to get the grey
staghorn customization, so I hunted down the rare mob with the
highest droprate for it, even though said mob is on a 14 hour
spawntime.
[9:34 PM]
Sure enough, got the horns after my second kill! So now I have an
Infinite grey/black stag-wolf-bird-drake to fly around on, and I
love it
[9:35 PM]
And that's my report for the week!

@Ar-Pharazon-V
Yep! Playing Diablo 4, hence the screenshot above
Pengolodh — Today at 4:15 AM
Im playing Diablo 2 at the moment. When i finish, i will be hitting
up 4.

The re-design of rivendell is just insane. Look at the reflection of
the window on the ground. Such detail. Id love if this was more of a
central point for the player base. (edited)

In early epic (book) stories, the characters are constantly sent
back to Elrond.
[10:27 AM]
The second floor is the location for LI building.
[10:28 AM]
The Silmarillion chat group used to meet there until we finished the
Silmarillion. : )
