Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:00 PM
Ah! Is my camera visible to you?4

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:00 PM
Camera? Don't know anything about that.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:01 PM
Good...I thought I somehow got my camera turned on, but I am eating dinner as we speak, so maybe it is a good thing my camera is not online!

[4:03 PM]
Ahh, Sandalf is talkingabout being in the voice channel too.
[4:04 PM]
The only other one in there right now is Treebeard.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:04 PM
Heya :}

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:04 PM
What does the voice channel do?
[4:04 PM]
How did I get there?

Varda — Yesterday at 4:06 PM
You clicked on the voice channel. You're out of it now.
[4:06 PM]
And the voice channel is to let you talk and share video.
[4:07 PM]
It's handy for gaming when you want to have your hands doing the action rather than typing.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:07 PM
Ah. So it IS possible to talk and be seen, nicht wahr?

Varda — Yesterday at 4:07 PM
among other things, like just chatting.
[4:08 PM]
O yes. Share the video with others in the voice channel

In neat things, in Harbor, Eonwe put instructions on how to do black out bars over text for spoilers. : )
Double Pipes on both sides is the simplest to do inline spoilers.
For a full line do /spoiler msg:
full line of spoilers.
|| then put the spoiler, then put another set of double pipes
[4:10 PM]
And here during Before-meeting, we have how to chat in voice and show live video of self and/or your game/screen.
[4:10 PM]
Kind of like the Zoom thing.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:10 PM
right

Varda — Yesterday at 4:11 PM
To make it do video, click the icon that looks like a big movie projector.
[4:11 PM]
It does seem to make my gaming more laggy to be also playing someone's video.
[4:12 PM]
Some folk can't game with Discord on at all, such as Dis.
[4:12 PM]
All these cool things are helped by having upscale computers. Guess we need to run out and buy that computer!
[4:13 PM]
We sometimes do the video stuff in Harbor Voice.
[4:13 PM]
It can even help when you're trying to explain something about a game, as well as regular info.
[4:14 PM]
Any membership news from y'all?
[4:15 PM]
(Y'all is the plural of you, heh.)
[4:15 PM]
Not referring to yawl ships.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:15 PM
house inspe;tion survived well

Varda — Yesterday at 4:15 PM
Huzzah! A win!

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:15 PM
indeed

Varda — Yesterday at 4:17 PM
We had a great Thanksgiving. Besides insane amounts of food and dessert, we had visits from Elwing and Meriadoc, as well as having Gimli. : )
[4:17 PM]
Add them to Fangorn, Sauron, and Varda, and you have a very strange table.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:17 PM
A  Yawl is, I believe, slightly smaller than a schooner, with one main mast and a smaller forward mast for a jibsail.
[4:18 PM]
I would suppose that Sauron would try to eat everyone

Varda — Yesterday at 4:18 PM
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yawl
    Yawl
A yawl is a type of boat. The term has several meanings. It can apply to the rig (or sailplan), to the hull type or to the use which the vessel is put.
As a rig, a yawl is a two masted, fore and aft rigged sailing vessel with the mizzen mast positioned abaft (behind) the rudder stock, or in some instances, very close to the rudder stock. This is...

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:19 PM
nice ship

Varda — Yesterday at 4:19 PM
Sauron was kept carefully fed with turkey and fixings.
[4:19 PM]
He ate no guests, therefore.
[4:19 PM]
Yawl and y'all sound the same. : )

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:19 PM
Ah...I was not far off...I just had the mizzen mast misplaced. After all, I am only a dumb Naval Engineer who spent his time in the Engineroom on the USS Caloosahatchee (AO-98).

Varda — Yesterday at 4:20 PM
I thought you got it better than anybody else here probably would have.
[4:20 PM]
No Ulmo or Tulkas or Ugluk here right now. Also sailors. Tulkas also captained.
[4:21 PM]
Have to get some of you together to chat. : )
[4:21 PM]
Tulkas is the most likely to find on Discord.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:22 PM
:)

Varda — Yesterday at 4:22 PM
Ugluk used to sail on Tulkas' icebreaker as crew. Tulkas brought him into the guild. : )
[4:22 PM]
Seeing these things in the mind's eye with these names gets pretty funny.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:22 PM
Was Tulkas in the Coast Guard?

Varda — Yesterday at 4:23 PM
He was captain of a regular ice breaker mostly in the Great Lakes. Later moved to captaining yachts.
[4:23 PM]
Many adventures!

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:23 PM
The lure of the Whale-Road.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:23 PM
I don't believe he was in the Coast Guard, but it's possible.
[4:23 PM]
Aye : )
[4:24 PM]
You can see a little of Ulmo's work building boats in Rhode Island on our Art site.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:27 PM
The whole sea thing is fascinating for me, as regards Tolkien. England is, as we know, an island nation, and their first service is the Royal Navy. Not the same for us Americans, with the Army as the "First Service," but as my father served the U.S. in the Army during WWII, I served in the Navy during Vietnam. So two generations of my family have proudly served in the U.S. military. Nevertheless, the sea has always called to me too. There is nothing like a long night watch on the open ocean under a starlit sky, with no city lights of any kind around you...the lights of the sea glowing as they rush past the bow....hey, I can really dig why the Elves (and most Men) love the music of Ulmo.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:27 PM
Ahhhh
[4:28 PM]
You actually got to see dark sky, with all the stars!

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:28 PM
Yes. The memory is alive before me now.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:28 PM

[4:44 PM]
or any interesting questions or comments on the books?
[4:44 PM]
(any of the books, including all of the Histories).

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:45 PM
Nothing on the RP I can think of at the moment.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:45 PM

Varda — Yesterday at 4:47 PM
Phar will probably be along a bit later. We'll see what he has to say. : )

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:48 PM
That's one of my favorites, hehehe.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:50 PM
This has nothing to do with anything but made me laugh. A person in LotRO said:
Smoking a couple turkeys at the moment. I've been trying to quit.'

[4:51 PM]
Ok, back to Tolkien more normally...
[4:51 PM]

Some folks were discussing the travel to Valinor.
[4:52 PM]
They were wondering what it took to get to take the boat over there.
[4:52 PM]
Did Cirdan have to be available at the Grey Havens to sort of anchor the location?

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:52 PM
Lol.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:52 PM
Did an elf have to be on board the ship for it to go?

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:53 PM
Sorry, laughing about the turkey joke.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:53 PM
Did the boat have to be of a certain type to make the special trip?
[4:53 PM]
Good, Eonwe. : )

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:53 PM
must be a new type of tobbacco :)P

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:53 PM
Reminds me of one I heard:
Person 1: "I thought you stopped smoking for good?"
Person 2: "I did. Now I smoke for evil."

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:54 PM
heheheehe#

Varda — Yesterday at 4:54 PM
hehe

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:54 PM
I suspect that it had to do with the seafaring skills of the Elves and the willingness of the Valar to let anyone get through the Isles of Enchantment.

Treebeard — Yesterday at 4:54 PM
Smoking turkey may cause cancer.  Chain smoking turkeys may cause just as much cancer but everyone else gets to share.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:55 PM
heheh

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:55 PM
In light of our earlier comments, I always remember Voronwe

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:55 PM
Yeah, I think it's more what the Valar allow than anything on the Endor side of things.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:56 PM
Voronwe's comment to Tuor that the stars were very bright on the western seas....beautiful.

Treebeard — Yesterday at 4:56 PM
Letting rude and crude humans into the forbidden area across the see may cause them to live and be crudely annoying eternally.
[4:57 PM]
"sea" - misstype

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 4:59 PM
Well, more like they'd be rude and crude for 10 years and be a 100-year old rude and crude soul stuck in a 10-year old body. Not sure even they'd deserve that :}
[4:59 PM]
Though perhaps you could say they'd be acting their age? :}
[5:01 PM]
(My numbers assume a young person coming across the Sea, or being born in Aman, but that's the idea, their body would age according the the aging of Aman but their soul would age according to humanity's growth time, so it would be horribly out of wack in short order.)

Varda — Yesterday at 5:02 PM
Voronwe, love that comment.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:02 PM
Do we know that for sure? Is it not possible that they would more-or-less remain at the mental and physical age at which they arrived in Aman?

Varda — Yesterday at 5:02 PM
As far as non-immortals in Aman, we know they "burn out" more quickly ending their lives sooner.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:02 PM
Yes. I can see Voronwe closing his eyes and remembering his view of the starlit skies near the Enchanted Isles.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:02 PM
Tolkien discussed it in HoME.... Book 10: Morgoth's Ring if memory serves.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:03 PM
But it may be worth it. : )
[5:03 PM]
The mortals are intended to go beyond the circles of Arda, to Eru. The elves were trapped in the area of Arda until the new Arda.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:04 PM
The Sil gives a very brief description of what would happen per the messengers from Aman to Numenor, but it's a simpler description.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:04 PM
No doubt Tuor heard Voronwe's words, and they helped inspire him in his later years to search for Aman with Idril...but then again, Tolkien notes that Tuor alone among Men was numbered among the Noldor.

Treebeard — Yesterday at 5:04 PM
I believe that their mental acuity and temperament would improve and mellow with exposure to better conditions.... no aging, but healing.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:05 PM
"There you would but wither and grow weary sooner, as moths in a light too strong and steadfast."
Treebeard — Yesterday at 5:05 PM
Bilbo and Frodo were ring bearers for a long time, Samwise for a bit, but Gollum would be restricted totally since he did allow the evil to rule him.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:07 PM
That may indeed be true, but I somehow do not think that the Valar would allow a mortal to land in Aman only to wither and die all the quicker...I suspect they would have a non-ending life, with the changes envisioned by Treebeard.
[5:08 PM]
I somehow seem to also remember reading somewhere that mortals allowed to land in Aman would go on living as they were upon arrival, until THEY DECIDED TO "LEAVE."    That is, finally give up the ghost.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:09 PM
Well there is a difference between a special permission given under certain circumstances, and every mortal on earth coming to live in Aman.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:10 PM
But in "The Cottage of Lost Play" Tolkien suggests that even the Elves have not all the right answers.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 5:11 PM
Gandalf actually says that there are some questions that even the wise do not know an answer too
err to

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:12 PM
Yes. Many fan fiction writers have also picked up on that...note in particular PSW's story "Beyond Imladris" in Stories of Arda.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:12 PM
One sec, I'm digging through Morgoth's Ring.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 5:12 PM
PSW?| who is that?#

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
An author I came across on Stories of Arda. PSW has written some beautiful stories that largely fit within the confines of the Canon. [Note: links added by Varda.]

Varda — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
Please don't confuse fan fic with Tolkien. : )  But fun.
[5:14 PM]
Ar-Pharazon and his crew were some of those that were mortal and got to remain in Aman. The hard way. In a pit. For trespassing with malice.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
What a miserable wretch he was!

Varda — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
And yes, the fan fic can help us think in new ways, re-examine things.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
What I was hoping to suggest was that other readers (who then go on to write Fan Fic) also realize that "the Wise" do not see all ends...

Varda — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
He listened to Sauron, heard what he wanted to hear. A terrible thing that affected a huge number!

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:16 PM
Indeed. But do we not all at times listen to the soft murmurings of Sauron and Melkor?

Varda — Yesterday at 5:16 PM
Aye, you're right. Tolkien even said he purposely put in contradictions to make it more like a real history. Some is from "unreliable narrators".
[5:16 PM]
We do, indeed! That's what makes the story so scary!
[5:17 PM]
Listen to this little thing, then that little thing. Small increments lead to huge things.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:17 PM
ok, here we go
[5:17 PM]
Morgoth's Ring
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:17 PM
As usual, Varda, you touch upon the greatness of Tolkien's work. His story is so "scary," but also so "uplifting," because it DOES pay close attention to the human condition and our view of the cosmos.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:18 PM
Right!

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:18 PM
in "Myths Transformed:
Varda — Yesterday at 5:18 PM
Hope is his message.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:18 PM
Ah...Estel.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:18 PM
: ) Aye
[5:19 PM]
Go ahead, Eonwe. Don't let us stop a wonderful quote!

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:20 PM
(umlauts omitted for speed and ease)
"Let us suppose then that the Valar had also admitted to Aman some of the Atani, and (so that we may consider a whole life of a Man in such a state) that 'mortal' children were there born, as were children of the Eldar. Then, even though in Aman, a mortal child would still grow to maturity in some twenty years of the Sun, and the natural span of its life, the period of the choesion of hroa and fea, would be no more than, say, 100 years.

Not much more, even though his body would suffer no sickness or disorder in Aman, where no such evils existed. (Unless Men brought these evils with them -- as why should they not? Even the Eldar brought to the Blessed Realm some taint of the Shadow upon Arda in which they came into being.)

But in Aman such a creature would be a fleeting thing, the most swift-passing of all beasts. For his whole lifde would last little more than one half-year, and while all other living creatures would seem to him hardly to change, but to remain steadfast in life and joy with hope of endless years undimmed, he would rise and pass -- even as upon Earth the grass may rise in the spring and wither ere the winter.
(--- skipping the rest of the paragraph so I don't quote a full two pages, heh.)
[5:26 PM]
But if any should ask: why could not in Aman the blessing of longevity be granted to him, as it was to the Eldar? This must be answered. Because this would bring joy to the Eldar, their nature being different from that of Men. The nature of an Elvish fea was to endure the world to the end, and an Elvish ea fnding that its hroa endured with it, supporting its indwelling and remaining unwearied in bodily delight, would have increased and more lasting joy.
(--- skipping rest of this paragraph too)
[5:29 PM]
But let us suppose that the 'blessing of Aman' was also according to Men What then? Would a great good be done to them? Their bodies would still come swiftly to full growth. In the seventh part of a year a Man could be born and become full-grown, as swiftly as in Aman a bird would hatch and fly from the nest. But then it would not wither or age but would endure in vigour and in the delight of bodily living. (edited)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:30 PM
Yes: Tolkien wrote that the Second-born had the Gift of Eru, that Melkor corrupted, that is, when they die, they do in fact leave Middle Earth behind, but will be present at The End at the singing of the Ainur.Always remember Aragorn's last words to Arwen, (paraphrase from memory): "For we are not forever bound to the Circles of the World, and beyond them is more than memory." In his glimpse of the beyond as he prepared to leave Middle Earth, did not Aragorn see, in some form, the final singing of the Ainur with the choruses of the First and Second born singing together, along with the Ainur? At the least I would hope so, and will also hope that when my time comes, I can "leave" with such grace. Sort of Kabbalistic...there are the circles of the world, then more circles, then more circles...and so on to the infinity that as mortals we can never understand.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:31 PM
But what of that Man's fea? It's nature and 'doom' could not be changed, neither by the health of Aman nor by the will of Manw๋ himself. Yet it is (as the Eldar hold), its nature and doom under the will of Eru that it should not endure Arda for long, but should depart and go elsewhither, returning maybe direct to Eru for another fate or purpose that is beyond the knowledge or guess of the Eldar.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:31 PM
(After this Arda passes, all sing together to make Arda correctly with their learned understanding, so that we have Arda Unmarred.)

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
Indeed...that is how I envision Tolkien's thought.
And what that song is, is beyond us as mortals to conveive.
conceive

Varda — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
(And yet we will help sing it.)

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
Sure hope so.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
Aiya, catching up

Varda — Yesterday at 5:33 PM
(Aiya Phar. Talking about you!)
[5:34 PM]
Eonwe, did you have more quote? Kept seeing the typing going but then it stopped.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:34 PM
Very soon then the fea and hroa of a Man in Aman would not be united and at peace, but would be opposed, to the great pain of both. The hroa being in full vigour and joy of life would cling to the fea, lest its departure should bring deathl and against death it would revolt as would a great beast in full life either flee from the hunter or turn savagely on him. But the fea would be as it were in prison, becoming ever more weary of all the delights of the hroa, until they were loathsome to it, longing ever more and more to be gone, until even those matters for its thought that it received through the hroa and its senses became meaningless.
[5:35 PM]
(-- Just looking for places to truncate that won't affect the understanding too badly)

Varda — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
(understood!)

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:37 PM
(--- Short version of next part: talk of rapid aging if the Man did leave Aman, question that asked what becomes of him if he remains in Aman)
[5:39 PM]
Either his fea would be wholly dominated by the hroa, and he would beomce more liek a beast, though one tormented within, Or else, if his fea were strong, it would leave the hroa. Then one of two things would happen: either this would be accomplished only in hate, by violence, and the hroa, in full life, would be rent and die in sudden agony; or else the fea would in loathing and without pity desert the hroa, and it would live on, a witless body, not even a beast but a monster, a very work of Melkor in the midst of Aman, which the Valar themselves would fain destroy."
[5:40 PM]
That's the end of my quote. Note: parentheses beginning with dashes are from me, without them are quoted from Tolkien.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:40 PM
Wow. Pretty gloomy. But that may be why Eru gave to the Second Born (us) the Gift of Eru.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:41 PM
And why he forbid the Valar from inviting in every Turin, Denethor, and Hador to live in Aman :}

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 5:42 PM
invasions Z ...

The Valar cannot gainsay the Will of Iluvatar.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 5:42 PM
Invasion Z . even ..

Varda — Yesterday at 5:43 PM
The Valar try to sing the Song with Iluvatar, rather than change it for their own pride as did Morgoth.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 5:44 PM
Arg, afk for a moment.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:44 PM
No worries, Fionwe. : )

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:45 PM
Hubris...the ultimate sin that leads to the downfall of man...one of the greatest of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:46 PM
Hubris, aye, one of the big things Tolkien talks about. There's hubris contrasted with a sensible pride rather than being too shy of doing anything. The balance is really present in the stories.
Feanor was a great example of hubris. He could have had simple pride in his magnificent work but instead confused the silmarils with his own worth.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:47 PM
Which is why, in the end, Boromir is such a fascinating character...very much like Macbeth, except Shakespeare gave us (directly) no redemption for Macbeth.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:47 PM
Redemption, part of that theme of hope. And Boromir had Estel right in front of him. : )

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:48 PM
But he FINALLY "got it" at the cost of his life.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:48 PM
A magnificent Nordic death. : )
[5:49 PM]
We all have to go. Why not in glorious protection of others, leaving loved?

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:49 PM
And Tolkien loved those good aspects of Nordic belief...Hige sceal the heardra, and so on.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:49 PM
A tremendous scholar of the old Finno-Nordic writings and ideas, cleaned up a bit. : )
[5:50 PM]
Nice thing about writing one's own myth as he did, is to take the best elements of several to make them beautiful.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:50 PM
I used to ponder those words of Tolkien as I stood a night watch on the Caloos..."Will shall be the sterner, heart the bolder, spirit the greater, as our strength lessens." And now, as my strength lessens, I see the wisdom in that.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:51 PM
Well said.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:51 PM
I think I still have a few good years ahead of me, hehe...my Father lived to 99 and my mother to 95, thankfully.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:51 PM
That is definitely a reason for good hope!

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:52 PM
But there are NO guarantees in life...as Eru meant for us.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:52 PM
And we hope that you keep spending a bit of that time here, helping us ponder things. : )
[5:53 PM]
Right!
It's like a game, with risks taken that are true risks. It takes bravery to simply live.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:53 PM
Caught up!

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
You folks are brilliant.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
Then go to Eru with our heads somewhat high, as Theoden hoped to before his ancestors.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
And it looks to me that mortal man in Aman would not quite be a 100-year old spirit in a 10-year old body, but the body would grow with him at the same pace, it's just that all other species in Aman would age much slower.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:54 PM
Hey, we make awful puns and Tolkien helps us do better than just that. : )
Welcome to catch-up land, Phar. : )

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:55 PM
Which makes me wonder... either Pharazon was in stasis in the Caves, or doomed to be one of those fear trapped in a body but unable to leave even if it wanted to.
[5:55 PM]
Or maybe the fea didn't want to leave either, since it had no way to spend its energy down there

Varda — Yesterday at 5:55 PM
And aye. One thing said was that the Numenoreans came seeking immortality, but it wasn't in the land, it was natural to the denizens such as Ainur and Elves.
[5:56 PM]
Ar-Pharazon's story is a strange one.
It may be that this was another case of Eru's stepping in.
He didn't want Phar to get to come to him yet. Make him think. A sort of mini-Mandos for humans.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
Changing my ultimate fate and perhaps putting me into a content-ish living state, even down there. Got my wish after all?

Varda — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
I wonder if Phar ever came to understand or just rail againt "fate"?

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
Estel. One must hope.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
And once Phar or his people finally understood, did they move on? Or have to wait until the end of Arda?

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
That's for us to speculate on, but it would affect the final outcome and whether he joined the Valar willingly in the final war

Varda — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
Aye, Sandalf : )

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:57 PM
Or perhaps even leave early? It is an option, yes.
[5:58 PM]
I like to think we had quite a bit of fun in our mancave.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 5:58 PM
My hope i fear is tomorrow s wakening and my fate lies upstairs ~

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:58 PM
Pool table and all.

Varda — Yesterday at 5:58 PM
That's an excellent thought. Ar-Pharazon may have joined in to show that he had come to understanding and wanted to prove himself.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:58 PM
Don't mind waiting.

Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:58 PM
Wenn alle die Hoffe verloren ist, muss man hofft, dass alle die Hoffe nicht verloren ist. (When all hope is lost, one must hope that not all hope is lost).

Varda — Yesterday at 5:58 PM
We are nearly an hour overtime, o Sunshine. : )
[5:58 PM]
hehe - good quote.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:58 PM
Yes, and I'm going to get dinner at 1 am... back in a few minutes

Varda — Yesterday at 5:58 PM

they trip over the laughing hammerpad
thonkity thonk thonk thonk

Namarie!

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 6:19 PM
Phar: The 100 year old soul in the 10 yr old body might not be the exact numbers and time frame, but the point is the relative age of body vs soul would go out of sync when the body remains in full vigour and the spirit is ready to shuffle off that not-so-mortal coil.

Varda — Yesterday at 6:38 PM
Tug of war.

Eonw๋ Valar — Yesterday at 6:47 PM
Aye.
[6:47 PM]
We saw what happened to the Numenoreans when they got just a little taste of a longer life.

Yay, all followers level 59, swiftly followed by my first 60

Perrrrsonal gaming report
[8:41 PM]
For (non)flashgaming, 3 old badges for this week.

[8:43 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/eddynardo/one-trick-mage for the first one! A platformer which I've probably linked a gazillion times before, or at least other parts of the series it belongs to  15 levels during which you must guide a mage past obstacles to open all the chests and free the people inside. Potions along the way that give you access to a specific ability, but you can only have access to one at a time. So time and puzzle well!

https://www.kongregate.com/games/Raius_/the-journey-home for the last one! Sequel to last week's Home, actually  In this one the girl from the first game has grown up and become an adventurer like the previous main character, and is making her way home when she finds a victim of the same illness that had befallen her in the first game, and has to take her with her while being chased by a bounty hunter. Like I said last time, this also has platforming levels with swordfighting and stuff collecting

Blizzard gaming:
[8:56 PM]
Hearthstone:
Level 157 on the reward track. Almost enough gold for the next hero skin!
[8:58 PM]
Brawl is a fun one again, choose 2 cards, get 15 of each in your deck. Made myself a hunter deck with elwynn boars and devouring swarm, though I actually had to craft the latter  This allows you to spam and kill and retrieve enough boars to get the Sword of a Thousand Truths in a few turns, which makes easy work of the opponent, hopefully
[8:59 PM]
No new mercenaries, but got a bunch more leveled, and the majority of tasks are 30 or higher now, which also allows me to take on higher bounties.
[9:00 PM]
In doing so I completed Felwood, opening up Winterspring which is all level 30, as well as getting Sylvanas to 30 along the way.
The bounties are getting challenging now, even at max level! Am really going to need to watch out for compositions and planned enemy abilities, and may need to figure out some synergetic teams when quests allow.
[9:03 PM]
WoW:
[9:04 PM]
Raiding progress more! We killed the Painsmith on heroic again in one try, and wiped a bit on the Guardian of the First Ones until bringing it down as well. It's a simple fight, but very much a gearcheck as you only have so many minutes before you run out of beacons and boss just aoes you to death rapidly.
[9:05 PM]
That makes 7 out of 10
Weekly is 4 mythic dungeons, which I did, but no luck with pets or with the weekly reward.
[9:07 PM]
For the thanksgiving holiday, Pilgrim's Bounty, there is a new soulshape for Night Fae players, gotten through getting the maximum feast buffs and then some. Surprise surprise, it's a turkey  Looks very nice, but it's a crittershape rather than a normal soulshape, so I can only use it in rest areas
[9:08 PM]
Completed the Box of Many Things through Torghast this week! Ended up with capped Knowledge at the end of the second run, which matches up neatly with the full Box, so you can't get excess knowledge.
[9:09 PM]
Reward was a new pet, Mord'al Eveningstar, which was once an infamous gnome in life, if the flavor text is to believed, but in this context had become a bitsized minion of the Jailer.
[9:12 PM]
Completed the anniversary appearances from Doomwalker, including dagger and axe, which means I don't have to kill him anymore, this year at least. My mage has been trying the other worldbosses still, but people have lost interest in them, as I can sit there for hours without anyone joining, and have only had a few more shots this week. While I might sit her down at them while doing other stuff like Hearthstone, I think otherwise I might just continue leveling alts instead. And by this time next year even the mage should be 60, so hopefully even with waning interest she'll be able to continue the farm by finding groups.
[9:13 PM]
(And if I'm up for it, might have leveled my beastmaster huntress as well by next year, just to get access to mail and ranged appearances)
And that's my report for the week!
[9:15 PM]
namarie
