In the Tolkien site,
we have a new page set-up for the Tolkien member we knew as Little
Jewel-(T) who changed her name to Fiachra, to avoid confusion
between her various projects. Here's the new set-up:
http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authors/Fiachra/authorFiachra.htm
From there you can see the story currently up, and any future
stories.
Also, the pages for Mirabella are in the process of updating, a lot
of that done but not completed by meeting time.

VardaToday at 4:09 PM
I thought it had already been completed, but it may have not
transported quite all as it should between the computer switches.
Fun work and my honor. : )
I definitely recommend going back and reading Mirabella's work! (One
of my slow-downs is enjoying re-reading it cough.)

means cool new things on the web pages, so we might keep an eye out.

Pallando, go ahead!
Eve Online:
Pallando-ValarToday at 4:14 PM
So last Tuesday Eve had it's latest expansion hit, bringing us
chapter one of the Triglavian Invasion.
VardaToday at 4:15 PM
Sounds ominous.
Pallando-ValarToday at 4:15 PM
The Triglavians are leaving Abyssal space and invading our
homes. Spooky. This is mostly highsec content for now, but it
has a lot of tricks that we know are coming for us
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:16 PM
Maybe they're just misunderstood?
Pallando-ValarToday at 4:16 PM
Per some hints from CCP, this is going to change and evolve over the
next few weeks. It's looking like they're doing scouting missions
right now, not committing heavily yet. We fully expect t hat to
change.
There is some hints of that as well, yes.
I just finished about a 3 hour fleet fighting back against them and
we helped push them out of their foothold they had.
They of course had another one 20 jumps away before we pushed them
out, but hey!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:17 PM
AI always cheats.
Pallando-ValarToday at 4:18 PM
In more personal news, my alliance finally got our alliance logo
back after several years without.
VardaToday at 4:18 PM
Grats!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:18 PM
Nice
Ships come and go, but a logo stays forever?
Pallando-ValarToday at 4:19 PM
Think that's it for Eve for now. The first official CCP event
in Canada is in a few weeks, current good money is on chapter
one culminating there.
Well, it's supposed to. CCP reset everything for ~
legal reasons ~ a few years back and we had a bit of a struggle with
lost emails and so forth getting ours back in
but it is now!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:20 PM

Rise of Azshara Preview: Navigate the Perils of
Nazjatar in New Be...
In Rise of Azshara, we’re introducing a new type
of gear that can be collected in Nazjatar—and can help you stand
against the rising threat of Queen Azshara.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:24 PM
I was thinking about that benthic gear...
the system's taking things from Timeless Isle, Tanaan, Argus, and
other places like that, but this should be the first time they use a
system like that in what isn't the last area of the expansion.
I wonder what that means for the actual last patch.
VardaToday at 4:26 PM
You'll have to let us know when you find out. : )

VardaToday at 4:26 PM
The Spring Festival encore runs through this weekend. Last chance
for the spring goodies.
Grats Phar. : ) Sounds fun.
We've been playing mostly on Landroval and Ithil server. Anor has
very little activity.
We're getting closer to having enough mithril coins to buy our
island on Ithil server, but it will be a while yet.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:28 PM
It's a little controllable vehicle like the tonks and cannons etc,
but this time a siege tower that shoots projectiles
VardaToday at 4:28 PM
We've had one on Landroval a long time, of course.
Suggestions welcome on what you would most like to find in the kin
chest, especially what level items.

Level 70 bow chants!
VardaToday at 4:31 PM
Hmm, sounds like an idea. I'll check my scholar for mats.
Also, the brag list of who made it into LotRO this past week will be
delayed until I can get on to make it, but it should be up later!
Any other news, requests for the LotRO kin chest, or other?
If you think of something later, feel free to say something. :
) My main need would probably be scholar mats, minerals for
making hope tokens.

Tolkien!
Would it be unusual to see a group walking
around Middle-earth that included four hobbits, a dwarf, a Sinda
elf, and humans (one about 7 feet tall)?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:35 PM
It'd be unusual just to see a group of hobbits walking around
Middle-earth.
VardaToday at 4:36 PM
(one of those "humans" being an old man with a staff)
True.
MarigoldToday at 4:37 PM
I suppose that might depend on the location? Perhaps more popular
travelers waypoints might be a less conspicuous location. (I.E.
comparing the folk that appear at the Prancing Pony versus those who
frequent the Green Dragon) ?
ArienValarToday at 4:37 PM
Aiya Eonwe and Marigold
MarigoldToday at 4:37 PM
Aiya
VardaToday at 4:37 PM
Aye. They had a saying "Strange as news from Bree" due to the
unusual amount of mixing there.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:38 PM
So maybe the full party would've fit right in, in Bree.
Maybe people in Bree were suspicious because there weren't any
dwarves or elves with them.
MarigoldToday at 4:39 PM
^^ But I suppose the continuity/longevity of the group together
would be more likely to garner interest? That is, if each community
gossiped with each other. It doesn't seem as if they did, though,
excepting the spies/people in the know.
VardaToday at 4:39 PM
Both humans and hobbits lived in Bree, so they mixed often enough.
Gossip, the newspaper of villages. : )
MarigoldToday at 4:39 PM
And dwarves traveled through occasionally, so that would be fine.
The Elf might be the outsider.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:39 PM
With even less fact-checking.
VardaToday at 4:39 PM
Probably very little travel between though.
Dwarves did some trading, true.
MarigoldToday at 4:40 PM
Wait, what human was 7 feet tall?
VardaToday at 4:40 PM
Aragorn.
MarigoldToday at 4:41 PM
NO.
Are you serious?
VardaToday at 4:41 PM
About that. May have come from being related to Elendil the Tall
MarigoldToday at 4:41 PM
Ok how have I missed this?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:41 PM
Easy to miss a detail like that in a book.
VardaToday at 4:41 PM
Numenoreans were pretty tall.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:42 PM
Also, did you know Gandalf had a beard?
VardaToday at 4:42 PM
And crazily jutting out eyebrows!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:43 PM
To be fair, when the main characters are hobbits, 5 or 6 or 7 feet
isn't that relevant. They're all just "tall".
VardaToday at 4:43 PM
I can relate to that. ; )
MarigoldToday at 4:43 PM
Ok I just did fact checking :joy: it appears to have come from the
Tolkien papers "[Tolkien Papers, Bodleian Library, Oxford]
Hammond & Scull (eds) - Lord of the Rings: A Reader's Companion:
Page 229". I have never read that.
Whew, was worried it was in the Fellowship and I was a sloppy
reader.
^^ I did catch the part about Gandalf's beard, though.
ElrondToday at 4:44 PM
Aiya, sorry for the late arrival
MarigoldToday at 4:44 PM
Aiya, Elrond!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:45 PM
Aiya!
VardaToday at 4:45 PM
Like a wizard, never late? : ) Just glad you could pop in.
ArienValarToday at 4:45 PM
aiya Elrond
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:45 PM
"Gandalf, you're late!" "A wizard is never late, he arrives
precisely when he means to." "So... you meant to be late??"
ElrondToday at 4:45 PM
That's it exactly!
VardaToday at 4:45 PM
So the one place the Fellowship might not have raised a lot of
eyebrows might be Bree? Not sure any other place might find it
"normal".
Phar knows!
MarigoldToday at 4:47 PM
Were there no other major trade centers? Perhaps Dale?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:47 PM
Well, Rivendell saw all sorts of people dropping by. They weren't
even the first hobbits!
VardaToday at 4:47 PM
Rivendell even had a hobbit in residence!
MarigoldToday at 4:47 PM
Rivendell, perhaps, but I would think the community was so small
that any visitor was of note...
VardaToday at 4:48 PM
Agreed. They did have a fair traffic through, maybe? Scholars, other
visitors?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:48 PM
Well, they were known for being the last stop before crossing the
mountains.
MarigoldToday at 4:49 PM
Yes, that could be. Perhaps more people came through than we're
aware.
We can rule out Rohan, since the Rohirric were amazed that halflings
existed.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:49 PM
Which, come to think it, would have made them rather more popular
for dwarves... ironically, considering the history between elves and
dwarves.
VardaToday at 4:50 PM
True on Rohan, although the Rohirrim amazed the hobbits by having a
word for them, and the hobbits had some Rohirric terms. In history,
they had passed through the area although by then both sides had
lost most of that memory.
MarigoldToday at 4:51 PM
Oh, that's a good point. The year would make adifference
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:51 PM
I took that as a reference to their shared history over 500 years
ago at the upper Anduin.
VardaToday at 4:51 PM
True. We have a tendency to talk all across history and forget to
make the distinction.
We had a question on the whisper side [Note:
suggestion from Eonwe]. What was the relationship between the Ainur
and the Eruhini. Might want to define those two terms first. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:55 PM
The Ainur were the spirits, Valar and Maiar, who were made before
Arda and took place in its creation. I'm not sure who the Eruhini
are
VardaToday at 4:56 PM
The first and secondborn: elves and humans.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:56 PM
Sounds familiar though.
Ah.
VardaToday at 4:56 PM
Eru for Eru, hini for children of.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:56 PM
Ah, of course. The Children of Illuvatar.
VardaToday at 4:56 PM
Aye
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:57 PM
I couldn't place "hini" for a moment.
VardaToday at 4:57 PM
Don't hear it often.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:57 PM
What is meant by "relationship" though? Like.. family relations? Or
social interactions?
VardaToday at 4:58 PM
Quick news just picked up in Ithil: Luithien's name was changed by
SSG, Dis changed it to Luethien. Based on CoC.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:58 PM
...How is that an improvement :stuck_out_tongue:
VardaToday at 4:58 PM
It's not. Someone probably complained.
The actual name is Luthien, so it's not the book spelling.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:59 PM
Right. Neither is the most popular form.
VardaToday at 5:00 PM
I have exact names that haven't received complaints due to the
obscurity. Been fortunate so far.
The Ainur did not look down on the Eruhini, seeing them as brothers
also made by Eru.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:01 PM
That's why I blended Pharazon and Calion to get my character name in
WoW. Though I guess they'd be safer in Azeroth than in Middle-earth,
anyway.
VardaToday at 5:01 PM
The worship thing was not their intention. (Except some Melkor and
Sauron guy who liked it.)
We have reached the hour.
MarigoldToday at 5:03 PM
^^ Was going to make a comment on how Feonor rather spoiled the
relationship, but the hour!!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:03 PM
In any case, yes, the Ainur did care for them, tried to keep them
safe, on the right path.. even mated with them on one occasion.
VardaToday at 5:04 PM
We can keep talking in After-meeting. Happens all the time.
Thingol and Melian come to mind.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:04 PM
And Feanor might have been the first, but I know some Men who
spoiled their relationship with the Valar as well.

Quick game update: Got into both Wow Classic stress tests,
which went quite well. Was quite fun and enjoyable, and it plays
very smooth. There is a image link of alliance summoning Omar, who
is the Senior Software Engineer who got it working from the old 1.12
data. He showed up as a huge Paladin and danced at the end.
VardaToday at 5:08 PM
O cool!
[Note: this is from our screenshots channel on Discord:
Elrond05/24/2019:
Here's a few screenshots from the WOW Classic
stress test final minutes. They dropped Ragnaros and Thrall in
Stormwind. I got to level 4 (almost 5) on my warlock. Thrall would
occasionally chain lightning and waste multiple newbies (including
me). We did kill Thrall, and after celebration pictures were taken,
we chanted for Doom Lord Kazaak. Instead, we got Patchwork, who made
quick work of us all.

http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/pinata_masters
is the first game! A simple shooter where your character walks
around on the bottom of the screen while you shoot stuff at the
pinata above you. Get coins to upgrade your damage, your ammunition,
and unlock random weapons. Nice game for a few minutes to unlock
stuff, but once you've got all the weapons and only have the
damage/ammo to upgrade, it gets boring, so that's a nice place to
stop
Pinata Masters - OneMoreLevel.com
http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/wheelie_cross
is the second game! Pretty simple: Press the button to keep your
speed up and make an infinite wheelie, making sure not to go too
fast or you'll fall backwards, and not too slow or you'll hit the
ground. Simple, but difficult, I never got very far. Collect coins
along the way to buy different bikes.

is the third game! An upgrade shooter, where you play a reaper and

upgrading.

Heroes of the Storm:
Still level 345. Did have fun playing some heroes I wasn't too
familiar with in the brawls, though. Despite never having played
them outside of the weekly brawls, I'm getting quite practiced with
both Thrall and Zul'jin  With the right talent combinations,
they can get pretty dangerous against groups of enemy heroes.
Hearthstone:
Another class to level 58. I think it was the shaman... anyway,
druid and rogue remain. Might still finish those during the next
week, though probably not... since I'll be on a short vacation from
monday to friday.
Brawl is the 207th Brawl Spectacular! A choice between 9 older
brawls, which means the brawl will usually be different for your and
your opponent if you chose different ones. Pretty silly, but fun to
see how they match up. Still, some are more powerful than others, I
won my match with Randomonium, where cards randomly change mana
cost. Even had one lucky turn wherein 3 usually expensive minions
were able to go up on the board at 1 mana each
One wing remains to be released for the solo adventure. Once I've
purchased that I can finally go back to buying and opening card
packs. Not only have I been saving my gold, I haven't even bothered
opening packs I got through other sources... resulting in me having
about 40 packs to open, including for the new expansion.
We'll see when that happens

Before I go into WoW, I'd like to mention one other game...
while in WoW, I noticed a worldquest / rare mob called Blackthorne,

BlackThorne - Gameplay
You can see it shares quite a few elements with Warcraft 1, which
came out that same year.
WoW:
Still raiding Dazar'alor on heroic, still running into some troubles
with the last few bosses, like Mekkatorque and Stormwall. Still,
with some effort we got em down, with me getting a nice new guardian
druid weapon from Stormwall Blockade. We'll extend the raid until
the last few people in our group who need Jaina for the heroic
achievement are present, to wrap things up officially, I guess.
Until/after that I think we'll spend more time in Crucible, as well
as more farming of Dazar'alor for a few gear upgrades. Personally
I'm almost out of stuff to get
Weekly this week was the Warlords of Draenor timewalking for the
first time! Fun to go through the old instances again. They don't
seem to be scaled too high, though I was in premade groups for most
of them.
Saving up badges for the past few years paid off, as I got both
mounts and both toys from the new WoD timewalking vendor already,
and still had half my badges remaining. Guess I'll start saving up
for the next one in whatever expansion comes next
So yes, got the Banner of the Burning Blade toy, which displays a
banner which is actually on fire, pretty neat. And also the Apexis
Focusing Shard; not sure what it's supposed to do, but I aimed it at
a fellow player and ended up blasting him by channeling a harmless
beam of light. Looks weird, but fine.
And also the new mounts: Beastlord's Direwolf, and Beastlord's
Irontusk (an elekk). They both look nice, but the wolf a bit more
special, with metal jaw armor.
And I got one more toy during the meeting tonight, the toy siege
tower I mentioned  As it drops from the Arathi worldboss,
which you can only loot per cycle of about 2-3 weeks, it's a pretty
rare find; I've definitely killed it quite a few times since it was
implemented last year. But now it's mine!
*only loot once
Other than that, more world quests and reputation gathering for
paragon supplies, though the last two rewards still don't want to
drop. Getting more pet charms too, and now have over 800 of the 1000
I need for the pet portal. Almost there! Also almost there for the
mount that needs 1000 expedition dubloons, with only about 50 more
to go.
Oh, and I got enough service medals for the first of the heirlooms
up for sale for those, so yay
And finally, WoW related, I haven't yet been able to find the 15th
anniversary collector's edition as it's been sold out everywhere
from the first few hours that it first went on sale... but I did
decide to buy the 25th anniversary warcraft figurines.
Unfortunately, the physical goodies from the gearstore can't be
bought with my usual payment method, so I hope it works with my
brother's creditcard tomorrow or the day after, as he's joining us
on the vacation... but assuming we have internet there it shouldn't
be a problem!
But I may need to make a Paypal account at some point in the future
just for this kind of stuff.
And that's it for me this week! Next week should have quite a few
less things to tell, but hopefully still something.
