Ar-Pharazon-V: Yay!
Varda Valar: Ancalime-(T)
Varda Valar: Any other membership news to mention?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Ah, Aldarion's kid.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Work thing's been postponed for a week, won't start
until 22nd :-)
Varda Valar: Tar-Aldarion, and she became Tar-Ancalime, aye.
Varda Valar: Hope that's good news, Phar. It's good for us at least!
Ar-Pharazon-V: 's fine, one more week of peace and quiet :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: and of demon invasions
Varda Valar: um, that's good, right? Demon invasions are like skeet?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Sounds about right?
Varda Valar: yay for gaming interpretations of alien invasions!
Varda Valar: Hi from Fangorn and Sauron from this side of the screen.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Also hi!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Spoke to Fladrif yesterday but he appears not to be
online today.
Varda Valar: What a concept.
Ar-Pharazon-V: What, being offline?
Ar-Pharazon-V: I was offline from tuesday to friday this week, such
withdrawal...
Varda Valar: *gasp*
Ar-Pharazon-V: So much to catch up on :-P
Varda Valar: Elwing is wondering if she can get away with showing her
gnomes, finally painted, as hobbits. Stretching it. :-)
Varda Valar: Dwarves? maybe not beardy enough
Varda Valar: Petty Dwarves in the early days, a family?
Ar-Pharazon-V: We're talking garden gnomes?
Varda Valar: Aye
Ar-Pharazon-V: They usually have beards.
Varda Valar: Tiny garden gnomes for the table. The father has a beard
Ar-Pharazon-V: beards and fishing poles and bright red hats
Varda Valar: We'll see about how to interpret it. :-)

Varda Valar: Web:
Varda Valar: Tolkien Site / Languages:
Varda Valar: Ancalime-(T) joined us today with a word list for Common
Speech. :-)
Varda Valar: At first thought, we'd think, but that's English. But take
a second thought.
Ar-Pharazon-V: The list from history 12?
Varda Valar: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/lang/CommonSpeech.htm
Ar-Pharazon-V: Looks like it.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Nice overview!
Varda Valar: While working on that, the Language
section commented to me that it needed revamping, so it has been
improved, hoping to do more on it later.
Ar-Pharazon-V: complaining, was it?
Varda Valar: It was!
Ar-Pharazon-V: In what language?
Varda Valar: Anyway, Ancalime is considering doing some more goodies,
maybe articles. *crosses fingers*
Varda Valar: Web Site language sounds like "Feed me, Seymour!"
Varda Valar: Always wants more.
[see also under Gaming for Tolkien Art]
[see also under After-meeting for
Tolkien Art]
Varda Valar: Eonwe has faithfully worked on the Games Site for us.
Sorry he can't make it to meetings; he'd like to.

Varda Valar: Gaming:
Tabletop:
Varda Valar: And we have other gaming news too.
Varda Valar: Sauron and I are going to a second tabletop game, this one
will be on Tuesdays for a while, so we still have one a week, every
other week.
Varda Valar: The first one is Pathfinder
on the D20 system.
Varda Valar: The new one is Dresden
Files on the Fate system, 30 point so we get to go up to Superb
levels. :-)
Varda Valar: Arien, you had similar news?
Varda Valar: Arien mentioned
that she might be joining a tabletop game too.
Arien V: yes i found by chance that a customer runs a table top group
in Portree :-)
Arien V: which is momentarily on holiday since one of they guys is a
way but , i was asked whether i d be interested in joining
Arien V: since that particular customer knows i am a Larper and like
fantasy
Ar-Pharazon-V: Ooh, fun.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Gets one out of the house, hm? ;-)
Arien V: yeah :-) i dont know how often that would be or how it fit in
timewise but generally i d be very interested
Varda Valar: Get to see the sunshine or get moonburn
Varda Valar: Good luck with the game. Great way to make friends.
Varda Valar: On to Eonwe's report, feel free to update it with general
news
Varda Valar: Lot on WoW.

Varda Valar: Four previews are out this week:
Varda Valar: a Legion Extended Preview Video
Varda Valar: Leveling Through the Broken Isles
Varda Valar: Vault of the Wardens and Assault on Violet Hold
Ar-Pharazon-V: The order of the zones shown in the preview video
matches the order I'd already set for myself, so that's a good sign
it's somewhat correct storywise.
Varda Valar: o good :-)
Varda Valar: Becoming Illidari: A Look at the Demon Hunter
Varda Valar: Check out the audio drama released this week in four
parts: The Tomb of Sargeras.

Varda Valar: Back to web/membership:
Varda Valar: The Bohemian Weasel-(T)'s art
of Melian was featured on the Bulletin of the Tolkien Society's cover.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Grats!
Varda Valar: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Melian/cover_TolkienSociety.jpg
Ar-Pharazon-V: Always such a recognizable artstyle :-)
Varda Valar: True :-)
Varda Valar: More news, just heard from Elwing, who is
DeepGroover-(T)'s sister:
Varda Valar: [Kinship] Eledhiel: He should be back tomorrow...said he
won 2 golds, 2 silvers and a bronze in the Nationals!
Varda Valar: Now we have to wonder where he's going to put even more
winning medals and trophies. :-)
Varda Valar: Just heard, can't get much fresher news than that without
being right there. :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hmm, luxury problems...
Varda Valar: That's all my news, I think. Do you folks have any more/
Varda Valar: ?
Ar-Pharazon-V: This weekend was another open server weekend for Legends of Equestria! It's
progressing quite well, and they're preparing to release it in December
for real.
Varda Valar: Nice
top
Varda Valar: Tolkien:
Varda Valar: Funny how hard it can be to come up with a discussion
topic while in a LotRO game, having spent all morning working on
Tolkien languages.
Varda Valar: JRRT's first love was languages.
Varda Valar: He had to invent stories to explain why his languages
worked the way they did.
Ar-Pharazon-V: He seems to have gone a bit overboard, though. Much of
it's overkill if just to accomodate languages :-)
Varda Valar: That had to have been a convoluted thing, coming up with
stories to explain them.
Varda Valar: Then the stories took on life and affected the languages.
Varda Valar: And back the other way...
Varda Valar: He was detail-oriented in a lot of ways.
Varda Valar: Made sure the moon phase was right for all characters in
all parts of the story scattered around Middle-earth.
Varda Valar: [Fellowship] Fangornson: Why
did Sam's wife not marry someone else while he
was off battling and adventuring as no Hobbit should, respectible
Hobbit.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Probably just never met someone.
Varda Valar: Maybe she liked the good "bad boy"?
Varda Valar: He was only gone a year, just very eventful year.
Varda Valar: Maybe she thought he was worth waiting for?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Could be!
Varda Valar: *notices the gavel pad is rolling in an inanimate gavel
pad upgrade, bigger, stronger, some gilt on the edges*
Ar-Pharazon-V: And returning as a war hero helps.
Varda Valar: True. And Frodo set them up in Bag End very comfortably.
Varda Valar: So he was like a rich man in a way just from connections.
Ar-Pharazon-V: "Hey, babe, I just spent a day inside a volcano, and
you're still the hottest thing I've seen."
Varda Valar: hehehe
Varda Valar: He has all new hobbit pickup liines
Ar-Pharazon-V: Yep!
Varda Valar: Sam the Irresistable.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Must have had the girls swooning.
Varda Valar: Merry and Pippin were swashbucklers, got married quickly
too.
Varda Valar: Books said Sam didn't realize how much of a figure he cut
as well.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Just a modest guy.
Varda Valar: *old hammerpad hands over the glue and nails for us to set
up the new hammerpad*
Varda Valar: *just sets it on the table, no glue or nails*
Varda Valar: *picks up a hammer*
Varda Valar: *fommmp*
Varda Valar: *it works perfectly*
Varda Valar: *the hammer sprouts six legs and returns to the shelf*

Varda Valar: After-meeting!
Varda Valar: Deepgroover just posted his
results [for the National contest], showiing plaques
Varda Valar: Reading them shows two firsts, two seconds, and a third
place.
Varda Valar: o wow.
Varda Valar: That laughing
knight I showed you last time?
Ar-Pharazon-V: the one cut in half?
Varda Valar: yes, a bust :-)
Varda Valar: It's picture has been taken for Fine Scaler Modeler magazine. :-)
[while he was at the Nationals.]
Varda Valar: "That's why he's smiling"
Ar-Pharazon-V: Guess he wasn't such a bust after all *ba-dum-tish*
Varda Valar: hehehe
Arien V: congratrs Deepgrover - TV :-D
Varda Valar: The knight is smiling for DeepGroover :-)
Arien V: Namarie Valarites .. bed is calling loud and clearly
Ar-Pharazon-V: A bit like the language section was?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie!
Arien V (AriehnV) has left the room.
Varda Valar: Namarie Arien
Ar-Pharazon-V: Alright, personal gaming report.
Varda Valar: Right-o
Ar-Pharazon-V: As you know I wasn't home for much of the week but I did
just manage to scramble together a few games for the flashgaming section.
Varda Valar: SCBW here, and LotRO. :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.kongregate.com/games/wobly/acidrain
is the first! Tough platformer with randomly falling acid rain that
kills you, so you need to be lucky and get to the end of each level
without being hit by them. Or the patrolling zombies, or acid lakes,
and other obstacles.
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.kongregate.com/games/fedeehsevenfold/frantic-planes-2
is the second game. Sort of bullet hell thing with lots of upgrades,
but I ran into a bug that gave me a lot of money in a sort of glitchy
way for the rest of the level, allowing me to buy nearly all my
remaining upgrades in one go. Rather silly. Still, fun.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Seems to happen in level 10 only, according to some
comments, which was correct for me too.
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/i_broke_time
is the third. Simple platformer, collect spawning clocks for each
level, avoid time shadows of yourself in the meantime. Quite fun!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Blizzard gaming!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Heroes of the Storm:
Same old thing, doing quests, gotten a few more heroes halfway to level
8... still a bit of a milestone, eh?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone:
Interesting brawl this week. One you basically can't lose. Last as long
as possible, give opponent (stormwind city, it's a siege theme) health
as you attack it, watch it build up attack every turn, and when you
die, you win, with some stats displayed to see how far you got.
Ar-Pharazon-V: I know one person who managed to lose it by actually
trying to lose, and lasting for a whole 45 turns. But otherwise...
guaranteed wins have been useful to get various quests done.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Diablo 3:
Started playing season 7 today.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Rebirthed my seasonal paladin, stored away all the stuff
on other characters, and did an entire set of 25 bounties, getting me
from level 1 to 33.
Ar-Pharazon-V: I do plan on getting that stash space this season!
Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW: Not as
much done as usual. Missed the tuesday raid because I wasn't home, and
after that our scheduled raid break started because a number of our
group are in a real-life meeting in the UK.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Not sure how long that break will last, but might be
until release of the expansion anyway, because we've got plenty of
invasion stuff to keep us busy.
Ar-Pharazon-V: I did do the timewalk quests, and feel like I've got a
pretty good grip on the way bear tanking works now since the patch.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh, and that tuesday raid ended up not happening anyway.
Not enough people... including tanks. Guess I'm more valuable than I
thought. Go figure ;-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: I ventured into LFR for Heart of Fear and Terrace of
Eternal Spring once again, and got the dagger appearance I was after!
It will suit me well when I get the dagger artifact for catform in the
expansion.
Varda Valar: Tanks seem needed in LotRO too
Ar-Pharazon-V: Tanks are always useful :-)
Varda Valar: Aye
Ar-Pharazon-V: Old instance hunting is going well. Shadowfang Keep
completed (last 2 items turned out to not actually drop anymore, silly
bugged loot-table for several expansions now).
Ar-Pharazon-V: Stockades completed as well - I only need 2 items there
- and I have now started Blackfathom Deeps.
Ar-Pharazon-V: And finally, Darkmoon Faire has started, and I went in
with the purpose of fighting the 2 tamers for the Big Adventure
achievement. Which was successful.
Ar-Pharazon-V: So now I've only got the Draenor tamers left!
Ar-Pharazon-V: And that would be my news for this week.
Varda Valar: Thank you, Phar
Varda Valar: where do you save the log to?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh, just the same folder on my harddrive I've always
kept the transcripts.
Ar-Pharazon-V: why?
Varda Valar: okie dokie
Varda Valar: Seeing if I'm doing it the same way
Ar-Pharazon-V: saving and sending transcript
Varda Valar: Thank you
