Before-meeting
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
VardaValar1 (2:01:38 PM):    Aiya Menel :-)
VardaValar1 (2:02:00 PM):    D&D group is arriving downstairs. Setting up AIM for the meeting later.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
AriehnV: aiya :-)
ArPharazonV: Is everyone early, or did I miss a DST thing?
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien, Phar, and Menel :-)
ArPharazonV: And out of WoW.
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Menel and I have been lurking here afk a good while is all. : )
ArPharazonV: Apparently!
AriehnV: Aiya :-)
AriehnV: yeah noticed
VardaValar1: Invites sent
AriehnV: gah this Archeron has an awful bodyguard ;-)
VardaValar1: Fire him and get another? : )
top

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: We're all reasonably healthy over here, enjoying the cooldown in the weather and the break in the rain that brought it. How goes it for you? :-)
ArPharazonV: A lot elite mobs around, yes :-)
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, went out yesterday to Amsterdam to meet some WoWers, a lot of rain later in the day, which was unfortunate :-)
AriehnV: and hello stranger ! aiya Eonwe
Eonwe Valar: Heya all :}
VardaValar1: Eonwe! Aiya! We're only in membership at the moment, well-timed. : )
VardaValar1: Did you get to meet them anyway, Phar?
ArPharazonV: We did.
ArPharazonV: And ended up seeking shelter in a nearby pub.
AriehnV: busy at work and understaffed in the shop as usual but else reasonably fine :-)
VardaValar1: Excuses :-)
AriehnV: hehe indeed thats what they all say ;-)
ArPharazonV: To be honest, I didn't drink any alcohol ;-)
VardaValar1: Talked the whole time!
VardaValar1: Hello from Gimli and Sauron at the Pathfinder table downstairs, fighting giant spiders at the moment.
ArPharazonV: Shelob?
VardaValar1: More like a bunch of Mirkwood spiders. Webs, group tactics
ArPharazonV: Shelob used webs.
VardaValar1: Aye, she did.
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: My schedule for the forseeable future has changed such that my days off now include Sunday. So, hopefully, I will be coming to meetings again for the forseeable future :}
VardaValar1: Huzzah!
ArPharazonV: Great!
ArPharazonV: And Aiya Eonwe :-)

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Nothing from me, sorry. Mostly working the day and not wanting to write more on the off time. Gaming is good then, though. ;-) I'll see what I can come up with this week.
top

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Which games have we been playing this last week that aren't WoW or LotRO?
ArPharazonV: Besides the usual daily flashgames, still doing the browser MMO. Since last meeting I've now gotten 3 of the highest quality adventurers/henchmen and things are really picking up pace, which means I log in regularly. Also to upgrade my town :-)
VardaValar1: Star Wars: The Old Republic is picking up for us in both Republic and Empire. Bilbo and Sauron play more now. Gimli still plays but our group wasn't active enough to keep him. Bilbo, Sauron, and I have our regular characters plus working on a group of three.
ArPharazonV: And even made a friend *gasp* well, just someone who randomly requested a friendship at one point and now we've been sending each other daily favors and doing quests that require you to have a friend.
ArPharazonV: Without actually having to communicate or work together.
VardaValar1: Nice teaming.
ArPharazonV: It's a rather.. practical friendship.
ArPharazonV: Teaming is not actually necessary. It's an option, but the quests that you can use a team for, are easily enough done alone as well.
ArPharazonV: Well, that's it for me.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Golden One.
VardaValar1: I haven't heard from the Guild Wars 2 crew in a while. Diablo 3 folk were very active last I checked, but didn't look in this week.

VardaValar1: Oh, membership again. Melkor : )
VardaValar1: He says he's ok, still dry and safe. The areas around him to towns are still cut off by water. Kind of like being on an island.

VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: Any news from our WoW folk?
ArPharazonV: Not much progress from me.
ArPharazonV: Few gear upgrades, always nice.
VardaValar1: Yay : )
karakedi25 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Hallow's End is going.
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis : )
Eonwe Valar: I got my Legendary Cloak during the week :}
karakedi25: aiya
VardaValar1: ahh, a fun one. Ohh, grats!
Eonwe Valar: The Guild got the Mightly Miner's Achievements. Still a ways away from the skinning, alchemy, herbalist, etc. guild achievements though.
Eonwe Valar: *Might Miners Achievement
ArPharazonV: Right! Hallow's End. Been doing that daily. Still no mount though!
VardaValar1: Very good! Grats miners!
Eonwe Valar: I got the mount despite already having it, hehe.
ArPharazonV: Closest I got was someone else in the pug getting one yesterday and saying he already had it.
VardaValar1: One per foot.
ArPharazonV: Heh, same as you then.
AriehnV: Well my hunter just met Cal on the Timeless Isle and together with loads of other we battled down Archeron of flames .. of sorts hehe
Eonwe Valar: Also, Blizzard is putting together more realms as Connected Realms.
AriehnV: just a tiny bit but at least something together :-)
ArPharazonV: That's true!
Eonwe Valar: Cool :}
VardaValar1: Intriguing.
VardaValar1: Maybe we'll see Phar yet!
ArPharazonV: We saw each other in the chat on the Isle and she said a tank was needed, so I showed up, and we got ourselves killed a few times.
ArPharazonV: Us and at least another dozen people.
ArPharazonV: But finally the big boss died :-)
VardaValar1: Grats! Persistence paid off.
Eonwe Valar: Aye, he's a dangerous one to fight.

VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: We'll be having the Halloween festival soon. Lots of nutty goodies for the barters from that. And each festival has had a new horse so far.
VardaValar1: I've heard the Tolkien license for LotRO will be coming up for review next year. We're hoping to be supportive for them.
VardaValar1: The Helm's Deep expansion pre-orders are available.
VardaValar1: A lot of people have disappeared off the live servers to help in the beta. We're hoping that means they'll really help it come out in a polished fashion.
VardaValar1: Any other LotRO news?
karakedi25: Lots of interest in the upcoming class changes.
VardaValar1: Aye, they're supposedly going to be even moe lore-based. That's the plan, at least.
VardaValar1: *more
VardaValar1: A lot of changes coming up. The level cap goes from 85 to 95, trait levels go up, probably to 20
VardaValar1: sorry, up to 18
VardaValar1: Still a good jump. People are sweating out deeds in the live servers.
VardaValar1: On to
VardaValar1: Tolkien!
karakedi25: (I've bought the expansion for both accounts)
VardaValar1: Nice!
VardaValar1: I've pre-bought it for my main and for Fangorn's account. Hoping to do more each paycheck. : )
VardaValar1: Turbine points are another way to go for the financially strapped, after it comes out.

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: Menelvagor requested this topic, or something close to it. Very fitting in our anniversary month.
VardaValar1: Why do we call ourselves the Valar Guild? We have more than one reason. Have fun remembering them all!
ArPharazonV: As in, Valar, or Guild?
VardaValar1: Both
VardaValar1: (Sorry, LotRO news again. They are asking for a computer hardware survey:
ArPharazonV: Well, both terms are, basically, supposed to represent a governing body. The Valar govern Arda (well, up to a certain point/moment), and a guild is supposed to be a way to get all craftsmen/professionals within a certain area of expertise together in one organization, in order to be easily reached and able to provide a service to the public.
ArPharazonV: I think.
VardaValar1: https://d12.parature.com/ics/survey/survey.asp?type=web&deptID=24038&surveyID=271
ArPharazonV: In all, it's a rather ambitious name :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: Aye, it is.
VardaValar1: What the Valar and a guild both have is the concept of "making something".
ArPharazonV: That also works.
Eonwe Valar: The Valar didn't just "govern" Arda willy-nilly. They did so with a certain.... Vision.... in mind, hehe.
VardaValar1: The Valar try to sub-create according to the directions of Eru's song, adding their own expertise.
VardaValar1: They really didn't govern it much at all. They did make a place, and stepped in to help, in ways that weren't supposed to hurt their younger siblings.
ArPharazonV: They guided things along, for much of it. Even if their "subjects" were not aware of it at the time.
VardaValar1: The Valar didn't consider them subjects, but brothers provided by Eru.
ArPharazonV: Hence the "
Eonwe Valar: Well, I'd say they governed it in the areas where it needed their governing: shaping the universe, dealing with Morgoth, the big stuff. They didn't involve themselves in the affairs of Gondolin's daily politics, for example.
Eonwe Valar: Although I suppose that's a tangent more than along the lines of the actual discussion, hehe.
ArPharazonV: Well, it's a form of governing, so it works :-)
VardaValar1: Dealing with Morgoth was dealing with a rogue member of the Valar, to keep him from taking over and wrecking the sup-creation done with Eru's vision in mind.
VardaValar1: Aye, they didn't micro-manage.
VardaValar1: (In side news, on the rp, Eonwe and I posted. Feel free to jump in!)
ArPharazonV: So creation and inspiration are (one of) the reason(s) for the name?
VardaValar1: Right.
VardaValar1: The major reason.
VardaValar1: We started in Diablo 1, so it was kind of literal. We made our own game worlds that others joined, and gave us all a place free of the ugliness that was running many out of the game. A haven.
VardaValar1: And we found we were creative. We were all Tolkien fans, so we created the Tolkien Encyclopedia, expanding it to the Tolkien Site, and later to the Games Site.
VardaValar1: We continued, building new worlds for people who also liked to play a game and be creative, and have courtesy (non Orcish), in multiple games.
VardaValar1: Every now and then, we need to remind ourselves what we're really trying to do. Help us focus. : )
AriehnV: ah but what is reality :-)?
AriehnV: what is real?
VardaValar1: It's all in our minds. ;-) So we'd better think right!
VardaValar1: We Valar try to carry out the original vision of Eru, of a place for all of us and our brothers as wonderful as we can make it.
AriehnV: these songs of hobits, dwarves and men, and elves now close your eyes .. and you can see them too :-)
VardaValar1: There you go!
VardaValar1: We have a Histories section for members to contribute to, and that helps us remember what we originally did.
VardaValar1: Any member may contribute:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/guild/histories/histories.html
VardaValar1: It may also be reached at the bottom of the Membership page.
VardaValar1: I've been told that it may have a problem being seen in Internet Explorer. Please take a moment to check it to see if it's ok for you?
AriehnV: its okay for me but i am not using Interunt Exploder anymore ^^
ArPharazonV: I guess I could dig up the old Explorer.
ArPharazonV: Looks like I've not opened Explorer since I got the new pc at the start of the year.
ArPharazonV: No bookmarks, no settings...
VardaValar1: There's the handy link. : )
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org
ArPharazonV: I think I can see the bottom of the membership page.
VardaValar1: Should be a link there to the Histories
ArPharazonV: Oh, the histories page, you mean?
ArPharazonV: Seems to work.
Eonwe Valar: The problem I'm seeing is in IE10 standards mode, when you try to click on Eru's history everythings tries to shift upward.
ArPharazonV: Hang on. Is this on the histories link you provided, or the membership page?
VardaValar1: I have run out of time to be here. Please do enjoy jumping into the forurm rp.
Eonwe Valar: Should be the Histories page.
VardaValar1: The membership page has a link to the Histories. It's on the bottom of Membership.
ArPharazonV: Yes, that page works.
ArPharazonV: And I can click on Eru's link.
VardaValar1: Page show ok?
Eonwe Valar: In IE10 standards mode?
ArPharazonV: NOt sure. It's IE10 and I didn't change the mode.
ArPharazonV: As I said, this is the first time I've even opened the thing.
VardaValar1: My IE seems to show it fine. A selected section gets an arrow I don't remember from berore to do something with.
VardaValar1: Haven't used mine in a long time either, avoiding viruses partly.
VardaValar1: Declaring
top

VardaValar1: After-meeting!
VardaValar1: Feel free to enjoy each other's company and pop into games together. Or work on the rp.
Eonwe Valar: Odd. For me it shifts everything up when I try to click on Eru's history.
VardaValar1: ahh, ok. It does a freaky thing like showing a clipped top of text just under it the first click.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
VardaValar1: Second click jumps right to it.
ArPharazonV: Well I do get an ad when I mouseover "preferences" in the line below it, but nothing more.
VardaValar1: An ad!
Eonwe Valar: An ad??
ArPharazonV: Probably a lot of filter addons I should install to prevent that or something.
VardaValar1: Wait, what preferences?
ArPharazonV: Sorry. Perspectives.
Eonwe Valar: OK, something likely addon relatved.
ArPharazonV: Also "resigned", "real life", "confusion", "free people" and "maintained"
ArPharazonV: all suggesting I search for the terms in question.
VardaValar1: How odd.
VardaValar1: Guess I'll have to dig through the pages and see if something's been added into them by an outside source, and clean up the html.
ArPharazonV: Probably just me. I've had it on other random sites, sometimes they have them and the next day they don't.
ArPharazonV: Should be addon stuff.
VardaValar1: ok, thanks.
VardaValar1: So mostly just check into the html formatting and clean it up for the picky new IE.
VardaValar1: Okie dokie
VardaValar1: Namarie for now.
ArPharazonV: Namarie, have fun
VardaValar1: I'll leave AIM up so people can leave all the messages they like. : )
Eonwe Valar: have fun :}
Eonwe Valar: Well, got Urdur the Cauterizer, so now I've fought and defeated all of the rare spawns on the Timeless Isle. Just need to get exalted with Emperor Shaohao, buy the mount, and at some point collect all the little trinkets for that achievmeent.
Menelvagor Valar: hehe :-)
ArPharazonV: Hah. Not worried about bagspace for that?
Menelvagor Valar: And Aiya :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
AriehnV: enjoy and aiya Menel :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Sorry I couldn't be here for the chat.
Eonwe Valar: I am worried about bagspace, which is why it's "at some point" :}
ArPharazonV: Hah.
Menelvagor Valar: Just read back :-)
Eonwe Valar: Probably not within the lifetime of this expansion.
Eonwe Valar: And heya Menel :}
Eonwe Valar: The island has already thrown me too many trinkets to take up bagspace: one that has a chance to turn enemies to stone on death and one that makes me a dual-dagger-wielding Paladin.
Eonwe Valar: Luckily some of the items on the list are actually pets, mounts, and items containing crafting mats/currencies.
ArPharazonV: True, that.
ArPharazonV: Might want to focus on those, at least.
Eonwe Valar: I got some of the pets, and Huolon's mount already.
ArPharazonV: Killed Huolon a few times, no luck yet. Mounts never drop for me ;-)
karakedi25: have fun folks....
karakedi25: namarie
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
karakedi25 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Take care, belatedly, Indis :}
Eonwe Valar: I have extra timeless coins over the 100k I need for the mount Shaohao exalted allows one to buy, so I've been trying my luck at Kukuru's cave for some extra Burdens of Eternity. I've so 4-5 Bonkers. Too bad they're perma-bound.
ArPharazonV: Can't cage em?
Eonwe Valar: Nope.
Eonwe Valar: Was hoping to be able to put some away for Trivia rewards. Didn't work out that way.
Eonwe Valar: I'm a bit disappointed about the candy barrels. Doesn't seem they give much exp for post-85 chars.
Eonwe Valar: Pre-85 it used to give about 3% of your exp bar. I tried on my 87ish char, not even a single percent.
ArPharazonV: Just good for a bit of gold, I suppose.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
LizMarr has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya Ioreth :}
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
LizMarr: aiya
Eonwe Valar: Great, now I have 3 Lil' Blings :}
ArPharazonV: I got my first one last week, I think.
ArPharazonV: But that'll do for now :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: At least these guys I can give away/sell.
ArPharazonV: Hah.
AriehnV: Nn guys and namarie :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well, belatedly, Arien :}
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
ArPharazon-V (8:42:59 PM):    saved
Ioreth (LizMarr) has left the room.
ArPharazon-V (8:48:45 PM):    sent
ArPharazon-V (8:48:47 PM):    Namarie!
EonweValar (9:11:02 PM):    Sleep well, belatedly, Phar :}
VardaValar1 (9:30:39 PM):    Namarie, Golden One. :-)
VardaValar1 (9:40:27 PM):    Game's over, most have gone, Gimli's still here. : )
