VardaValar1: We have three new members this week, all from LotRO.
VardaValar1: Lothiriel-(V), Forlong-(V), and Eomer-(V).
VardaValar1: Forlong made it today, so would you like to say a few words to introduce yourself to the group? Nothing like your real name or address please!
ForlongV: Hello all, and it is a pleasurew to be here.
VardaValar1: Great to see you here!
VardaValar1: How did you come to join us? The rest of the folk here rarely play LotRO.
ForlongV: Well, I had met you in fellow several times. And a few of us were looking for a new kin. And your name had come up between the three of us. I took a look at your website and was quite impressed withthe information there and enjoying the lore a great deal I decided this might make a nice home.
VardaValar1: We hope it's all that you could have hoped for. I've enjoyed your company and your gaming. : )
ForlongV: THnak you!
ForlongV: (spelling not withstanding .. can spell ... lousy typist.)
VardaValar1: hehe
Eonwe Valar: We've had worse :}
VardaValar1: Manwe tended to type too fast, even though he knew how to spell. Gave us the formal word "Tahanks" for instance. : )
ForlongV: *chuckles*
VardaValar1: Eonwe and I make an attempt to keep the overall guild organized.
VardaValar1: Eonwe handles the Games website and the two Western Hemisphere World of WarCraft branches.
VardaValar1: Arien handles the European World of WarCraft branch.
fladrifv has left the room.
VardaValar1: Ar-Pharazon faithfully sends in the weekly transcripts.
VardaValar1: (of meetings)
fladrifv has left the room.
ForlongV: *nods* been reading through them a bit.
VardaValar1: The forum is handled mainly by Eonwe now, Menelvagor was the main on that, and I try to help with it too.
VardaValar1: Everyone is welcome to send in game reviews to the Gaming Site, by emailing Eonwe.
VardaValar1: Anything related to Tolkien is emailed to me: articles, humor, art, stories, poetry, languages, etc.
VardaValar1: I also handle the community pages, so feel free to email me with whatever you would like to add to the general News.
ArPharazonV: wipe on Sartharion after killing his 2 adds *headdesks* oh well, trying again, don't mind my not being here
VardaValar1: We also have news pages for special interests.
VardaValar1: Hang in there, Phar!
fladrifv has left the room.
VardaValar1: He's in the European WoW right now.
ForlongV: Poke him withthe pointy end!
VardaValar1: Sauron says hi from this side of the screen.
fladrifv has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Fladrif's having trouble with getting back in btw
VardaValar1: ouch
VardaValar1: We may have multiple invitations on him, sometimes a problem.
VardaValar1: Says session already exists with this buddy.
AriehnV: i told him to restart aim again
VardaValar1: and crash and back. Good plan.
VardaValar1: Any further Membership news or business?
top

VardaValar1: Website:
fladrifv has left the room.
VardaValar1: Eonwe, go ahead with your news.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks.
Eonwe Valar: The Games Page: http://valarguild.org/eonwe/
Eonwe Valar: I've been reorganizing some stuff on the back end, and it's mostly done now.
VardaValar1: That was a lot of work. What is it doing for you now?
Eonwe Valar: The biggest thing you'll notice is some changes to the menu.
AriehnV: ilooks nice :-)
Eonwe Valar: What it's doing for me is being a little easier to code :}
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Ahh, I'm getting more goodies there now. : )
VardaValar1: Aiya Menel!
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya
Menelvagor Valar: hmmm... something tells me I haven't quite observed EDST or some such ^^
fladrifv has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: If you check the Guild Branches section, you'll notice you no longer have to click on the guild branch to bring up the submenu for that branch.
VardaValar1: hehe
AriehnV: aiya menel
VardaValar1: That does help, shows it's there quickly so we can pick it.
Eonwe Valar: However, if you do decide to click on it, you'll get a page that gives you all the same links as the submenu.
fladrifv has left the room.
VardaValar1: Nice job on the links into the rest of the site too.
VardaValar1: Credits seems to actually be Contact.
Menelvagor Valar: We're in web news?
Eonwe Valar: The Links pages aren't functional right now, but they'll eventually work, and are now a submenu on the "LInks Pages" Menu selection.
VardaValar1: Aye, Menel
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, I'll look into that.
Eonwe Valar: The News Archives link also has a submenu, and that *should* be working right now.
Menelvagor Valar: I have some membership news I'd like to give, if you haven't gotten that particular bit out already *grin*
Eonwe Valar: OK,.. It doesn't seem to be working yet. News Archives is something else I have to fix, hehe.
VardaValar1: Always more. : )
VardaValar1: Shows a lot of work and promise for functionality.
Eonwe Valar: The main stuff is working at least, and I'll announce on the Games Page when the rest is working, as it'll probably be after the meeting that it's done :}
VardaValar1: Ok thanks. I'd be glad to put it on the general News as well.
Eonwe Valar: Overall, one it is working, it should make my job easier, though :}
Eonwe Valar: *once
Eonwe Valar: That's it for me.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe. : )
VardaValar1: Menelvagor has some member news for us. Go ahead!
Menelvagor Valar: Ok, at this point in time, 17 hours and 38 minutes ago, I officially became a year older ^^
VardaValar1: Happy Birthday, Menelvagor!
Eonwe Valar: Happy Birthday :}
Menelvagor Valar: Thanksies, thanksies!
Eonwe Valar: Looks like Lothiriel from LotRO wished you a Happy Birthday on the Forum as well :}
Menelvagor Valar: Ack, afraid to say I missed that.
Menelvagor Valar: I'll be sure to thank her as well!
VardaValar1: How sweet. : )
ArPharazonV: grats Menel
AriehnV: jHabby birthday :-)
ForlongV: Congratulations .. .I have by the way cancelled May.
VardaValar1: The whole month has been cancelled? : ) Do we skip directly to summer?
ForlongV: Yes .. .summer is good ... at the end of may I age yet againh.
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Fangorn's birthday is in May. Do we wait on presents til June? : )
ArPharazonV: hmm, so's mine... don't skip May!
VardaValar1: hehe
ForlongV: *chuckles*
ArPharazonV: presentsss
Menelvagor Valar: Pharzie's can be skipped, I don't fancy visiting the forgotten Caves, but visiting Fangorn... sounds very appealing *smile*
ArPharazonV: thievesss... takes my presentssss away...
VardaValar1: Gimli may disagree. But then, he's been hanging out with Sauron-(Valar).
VardaValar1: In other membership news, Forlong just finished teaching a web class.
Menelvagor Valar: Barad Dur just looks cool.
ForlongV: You keep your nasssty pressents ... maysses is mine!
VardaValar1: A tad dark.
VardaValar1: lol
Menelvagor Valar: It may be inconceivably evil, but it's cool nonetheless.
VardaValar1: There is that, aye. : )
VardaValar1: In further news both Member and Web,
VardaValar1: Barahir sends greetings. He is not able to return to meetings for a while, but does read the general News to see what we are up to.
ArPharazonV: Forlong, that's humor you can only get away with in a guild like this ;-)
VardaValar1: He sent special greetings to you new folks. : )
VardaValar1: hehe Phar
ForlongV: Good ... and tell him hello from me.
VardaValar1: He is allowed to email from India and does so. : )
VardaValar1: He sent the latest chapter in his story, The Battle of Erui.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authors/Barahir/stories/Erui/EruiPrologue.htm
Menelvagor Valar: Oh yes, of course, although Sauron is very evil, he's by far one of the coolest guys I've ever met.
VardaValar1: It's that laugh.
Menelvagor Valar: Of course, Fangorn is just that much more cool :-)
VardaValar1: A while back, all of the story files were wiped. He's been rewriting the whole thing.
Menelvagor Valar: maybe age has something to do with that *grin*
VardaValar1: Can't beat Fangorn for cool, and he's been like that as long as I've known him. : )
Menelvagor Valar: Ahem... I'm interrupting *stops solar flames for a bit*
VardaValar1: Eowyn says hi, Menel. : )
Menelvagor Valar: Hi back to Eowyn!
VardaValar1: I have other stories backed up in the works to put up from Jay of Lasgalen, playing too much LotRO!
Menelvagor Valar: I hope some day to meet the lovely ladies and cool guys from the Varda residence again.
Menelvagor Valar: Oh yes, and the unspeakably evil guy too *grin*
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: We hope to be able to show you around better now that everyone's healthy!
VardaValar1: Any further web news, suggestions?
top

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW and non-LotRO gaming this last week? : )
ForlongV: A bit of AoC ... but tI think I am the only one that plays it.
VardaValar1: Does it have particular servers to play on that we have to choose to join you?
VardaValar1: We have someone in everything. Trick is locating each other. Thus the Games Site and primary names and friend channels.
ForlongV: It has servers, I play on Wiccana ... the *unofficial* pve rp server.
VardaValar1: Sounds like Landroval. : )
VardaValar1: Thank you. That will help others find you. Do you care to mention a player name?
ForlongV: Yes very much so ... butit is not entirely family friendly in some ways. Caereth is my main out there. Cimmerian Ranger.
Menelvagor Valar: been playing EVE mostly.
ForlongV: I played eve for many years.
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: uh oh. The Eonwe crashing begins.
ArPharazonV: Fladrif found a new game called Armadillo run, and we've both been playing it for a few days
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
ArPharazonV: he got the full game, I just played the demo
ForlongV: How was it?
ArPharazonV: it's a sort of mix between Pontifex (bridgebuilder) and The Incredible Machine
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiyata, mellon. : )
ArPharazonV: you have to make pathways to guide a rolling armadillo to an end portal
Eonwe Valar: Oh dear. should I worry about what I missed?
VardaValar1: Only as a Games Site manager. : )
VardaValar1: We'll let you read the transcript.
Eonwe Valar: Fair enough.
ArPharazonV: but maybe we can get Fladrif to tell us more about the game next time or something :-)
ArPharazonV: because he bought the full version
VardaValar1: Flad crashing too?
ForlongV: Yes, it sounds very much like a pac man style game ...except in reverse.
ForlongV: *makes notes for his gaming class*
ArPharazonV: Flad's still not getting in apparently
VardaValar1: You have a gaming class? Where do we sign up? : )
ForlongV: Yes, I am stuck teaching a full range of Digital Media classes.
Eonwe Valar: Gaming? Or Game Programming? :}
ForlongV: Game design and 3D art.
VardaValar1: (Whisper Tolkien topics to me please.)
Eonwe Valar: Cool.
VardaValar1: Sounds wonderful. Eonwe has a degree in programming. What did they call it?
Eonwe Valar: I took the programming side of our game programming classes at my university :}
Eonwe Valar: I have a BS in Computer Science :}
ForlongV: Oh very cool!
ForlongV: Mine was actually Lit and pjhilosophy as an undergrad.
Eonwe Valar: That sounds fun too :}
VardaValar1: Biology major, Chemistry minor for my BS. Also fun.
ForlongV: Very cool .. nephew has fallen in love with physics.
ArPharazonV: failed BS archaeology, but Earth Sciences is doing fine so far :-)
VardaValar1: Eomer says hi : )
ArPharazonV: gonna specialize in Biogeology, so took a few Biology courses too
ArPharazonV: anyway, raid over, back here for real
ArPharazonV: I'll try reading up
VardaValar1: ok
ForlongV: Never did archaeology ... did physical anthropology though. Tell Eomer hello!
VardaValar1: Sauron is taking engineering
AriehnV: meh got caught into Kara sorry
VardaValar1: Ok, we got off a bit. : )
VardaValar1: No worries.
Menelvagor Valar: Oh, before we start Tolkien in on Tolkien topics, I'd like to have a small word :-)
VardaValar1: Eonwe, would you like to give the WoW general news?
VardaValar1: Menel, go ahead.
VardaValar1: Still in gaming, actually.
Menelvagor Valar: But after gaming will be fine, since it concerns Tolkien :-)
VardaValar1: RP will be in Tolkien, first half. : )
VardaValar1: Great job, btw!
VardaValar1: Eonwe, would you like to give the general WoW and Blizzard news?
Eonwe Valar: Sure.
Eonwe Valar: The most notable piece of WoW-related Blizzard news is the release of their new Battle.net Account system.
Eonwe Valar: (ignore that link)
VardaValar1: *sweeps it away*
Eonwe Valar: Blizzard is moving towards everyone having one single account for all Blizzard games.
Menelvagor Valar: Oh ahem, I think I might have some non-online gaming news as well *grin*
fladrifv has entered the room.
fladrifv: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Flad! You made it in!
ArPharazonV: yay!
AriehnV: wwooooha
Eonwe Valar: There's some benefits, and more to come (so says Blizzard), and for now transferring over is optional.
ArPharazonV: I let the majority of Armadillorun discussion to you :P
fladrifv: hehe thanks
Eonwe Valar: However, those who play WoW should note that their login name becomes their e-mail.
VardaValar1: argh.
Menelvagor Valar: ah yugh!
VardaValar1: Change if your email changes?
ArPharazonV: say what? how does that work?
Eonwe Valar: This poses an especially tough problem for those of us who have their e-mail plastered all over the Valar Guild pages.
VardaValar1: Most of us.
Eonwe Valar: If you change your e-mail, your loging name would change under this system to the new e-mail, aye.
VardaValar1: So much for "security".
Eonwe Valar: Aye, this is not that secure.
VardaValar1: So we could make a special email for it?
ArPharazonV: right, just what I need, more email-addresses >.>
VardaValar1: ./smackhead
Eonwe Valar: I've been putting off changing over for this reason, hoping Blizzard would think better of it, especially since there are complaints about it on the official Blizzard forums.
VardaValar1: Any change even to a murloc mane causes a flap in the forums. Hope they notice this one.
Eonwe Valar: If you're going to do it, aye, I would make a special e-mail for it. It's a pain to have to do that, but safer than the alternative.
ForlongV: Is there a good community service person there?
VardaValar1: No one like our Patience.
ForlongV: Okay .. which is a great pity
VardaValar1: It will be forced on us in the future, only voluntary right now.
ForlongV: Patience and Sapience can be nudged if approached ciorrectly.
Eonwe Valar: Blizzard's forums are more like the Wild West than LotRo's forums too. Requires a bit more of a tough approach sometimes.
VardaValar1: Simple courtesy and thought are enough.
Eonwe Valar: But there's some good people there anyway.
Eonwe Valar: This comes down to what the developers are thinking though.
Eonwe Valar: Makes me wonder if they ran this by any of their comp security guys, assuming they have some.
ArPharazonV: (by the way, small mention, next week I should be receiving 2 achievements in WoW I have been after for a looooong time, even before the achievements were implemented)
Eonwe Valar: Here's a link to the FAQ: http://us.battle.net/faq/index.html
ArPharazonV: (I think I'm going to go really hyper when the moment comes, so if it's on a Sunday, don't mind my behavior in the meeting *grin*)
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Eonwe Valar: In Lothar news: We gave a go at Nexus on Friday.
Eonwe Valar: 4 of us: Eowyn's 71 Warrior, Elwing's 72 Hunter, Bilbo's 74 Mage, and my 80 Paladin. I was DPS/Healer, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Didn't go too well, but we had fun, and got a quest done.
Eonwe Valar: I have no Uldaman report.
ArPharazonV: just 1 quest? really didn't go well then :-)
Eonwe Valar: Thus concludes my WoW report.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe.
VardaValar1: Phar, be sure to tell us what they were!
VardaValar1: Arien, are you there?
ArPharazonV: I can tell you now if you want :-)
VardaValar1: Since Arien is under fire, go ahead Phar. : )
VardaValar1: WoW Europe, Argent Dawn server.
ArPharazonV: ah, chat is here, was lagged a bit
ArPharazonV: well, provided my chat actually makes it here, sure
ArPharazonV: I've been a bit of an achievement-hog ever since they were implemented, and some things I set to work way earlier
ArPharazonV: including getting as many Exalted reputations as possible, including up front the 3 pvp-factions for the Justicar-title
ArPharazonV: currently I'm at 38/40 Exalted for yet another title, and those two missing will also be the last 2 for Justicar
ArPharazonV: both Silverwing and Arathor combined I'm now less than 2000 reputation away from the endresult, so in about 20 battlegrounds.. I'll have the 2 achievements I always wanted, together, at the same time
ArPharazonV: my raidcommunity helped me finish Ashtongue Deathsworn reputation yesterday, bringing me to 38, so I've been getting a bit excited about the upcoming moment :P
ArPharazonV: I can't wait *bounces up and down*
AriehnV: i have to admit that i am a bit struggling with playing alliance atm
VardaValar1: Congratulations!
VardaValar1: If it happens during the meeting, be sure to crow about it in here. : )
AriehnV: but grats Phara indeed :-)
ArPharazonV: probably one of my most glorious moments in my WoW career :-)
ArPharazonV: if not *the*
VardaValar1: Don't want you killed by the meeting, Arien. : )
ArPharazonV: I'm hoping to get it somewhere during the week, so should be done before Sunday, but I'll be sure to crow about it no matter when it happens :-)
ArPharazonV: I've been after Justicar for what.... 15 months now, if not more
ArPharazonV: and it's soo close now *grin*
ArPharazonV: anyway, enough bragging about something that most people here probably don't care about
ArPharazonV: continue with the rest of the meeting :-)
VardaValar1: Most of us here play or played WoW. : )
VardaValar1: And we are rooting for you!
VardaValar1: LotRO:
ArPharazonV: perhaps, but not everyone cares about achievements or reputations :-)
ArPharazonV: *tapes mouth shot*
ArPharazonV: *shut
VardaValar1: Aww don't do that! : )
ArPharazonV: by the way, Luthien wants to be warned when we're going into Tolkien, but I guess you'll know that already
VardaValar1: We are trying to be somewhat organized, setting up runs to help members with important things.
ForlongV: *has a few more deeds before increasing his quest log on his main in Lotro and understands completely*
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar. : )
VardaValar1: What Forlong said!
ArPharazonV: :-)
VardaValar1: We are putting up notes of special runs in the kin note, usually also in the Forum and the general News.
VardaValar1: This can be done by any guild branch in any game also. Feel free to email me with news. : )
VardaValar1: We are in a tough spot because we are trying to run low, middle, and high questing.
VardaValar1: With a bit of work on the scheduling, we should be ok.
AriehnV: (won achievement *Karazahn* )
ForlongV: Grats!
VardaValar1: Congrats, Arien. : )
ArPharazonV: grats Arien!
Menelvagor Valar: *has all pre-bc instances achievement*
VardaValar1: We have a run scheduled in less than 30 minutes, so we need to shift to Tolkien now.
Menelvagor Valar: (including raid ones)
VardaValar1: Tolkien:
ArPharazonV: *same, but let's not discourage Arien ;-) *
VardaValar1: Menelvagor, you had news?
AriehnV: NN all :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Aye, one of my birthday presents was World of Warcraft the Boardgame! :-D
VardaValar1: Good night, Arien.
Menelvagor Valar: (which is still gaming of course)
ArPharazonV: ooh
ForlongV: Night Ariehn.
ArPharazonV: maybe I'll come visit you to experience that game :-)
ArPharazonV: nn Arien!
Menelvagor Valar: Feel free to.
Menelvagor Valar: I also have a comp and laptop for playing WoW online together :-D
AriehnV: lol sorry was wrong chat
ArPharazonV: haha
AriehnV: i wanted to say in guild chat
Menelvagor Valar: hehe :-)
top

Menelvagor Valar: As for Tolkien:
ArPharazonV: well, in a way, this is guildchat :-)
ArPharazonV: Tolkien? allright, getting Luthien in
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar. : )
Menelvagor Valar: I just wanted to thank Eonwe for his help and knowledge in the combined post we made, I believe we (and mostly Eonwe) made it quite good :-) [Note: Forum RP "Scouting Ahead"]
VardaValar1: Don't want to wreck her connection with too many invitations.
Eonwe Valar: It was a team effort :}
Menelvagor Valar: I also want to thank everyone for their patience while we worked on it.
luthienathariel has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Suilad, Luthien!
luthienathariel: hi
VardaValar1: Menelvagor and Eonwe just put up a new joint post on the RP, Luthien. Enjoy it when you have time!
ForlongV: Hello Luth!
VardaValar1: Forlong joined us this week. : )
Menelvagor Valar: Oh!
Menelvagor Valar: Welcome!
ForlongV: Thank you!
VardaValar1: Last week, Eonwe assigned the homework of each bringing a Tolkien chat suggestion. : )
VardaValar1: Did anyone come up with one?
VardaValar1: Mine is small moments of heroism, the ones that aren't spectacularly obvious, in Tolkien.
luthienathariel: sorry, I did not know, I was not in
VardaValar1: No problem. No one else did it either. ;-)
ArPharazonV: well, I didn't explicitly think of one, but leafing through the Atlas of Middle-earth I came across a map of the trollshaws
ArPharazonV: so now I'm thinking... what do we know of the trolls or the regions they live in?
Menelvagor Valar: I am afraid I did not peruse last week's meeting notes as I was quite busy with school and birthdays :P
VardaValar1: Then think really really fast! ;-)
ForlongV: Hmmm ... origins of trolls ... something I know little if anything about.
VardaValar1: Trolls are interesting. A corrupted thing of several varieties.
ArPharazonV: it's a great book, really, been skimming through it for information on second and third age, but second age only has 6 pages or so in that book
AriehnV: sounds intrigfuing
VardaValar1: We could use more on trolls:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/trolls.html
ArPharazonV: and the maps are fantastic
Eonwe Valar: We know they live in places where they can hide from the sun :}
AriehnV: do we have any info on origin of trolls?
VardaValar1: That would be:
Eonwe Valar: Fangorn says Trolls were "made in mockery of Ents, as orcs were of Elves."
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/t/trolls/trollsV.htm
VardaValar1: Well said, Eonwe.
ArPharazonV: I doubt they were bred in the same way, though
Eonwe Valar: Fangorn the character, not Fangorn the guild member :}
ArPharazonV: hard to get from tree to stone
ArPharazonV: for that matter, what about the mountain giants mentioned in The Hobbit, I recall? Would they be related?
ForlongV: Could be like wights in a way ... I was thining that ...
ForlongV: Corrupted Giants?
ForlongV: As far as I know they do not age ...
VardaValar1: Wights were dead bodies possessed by evil spirits, apparently usually of lesser Maiar of Morgoth.
ForlongV: Yes ...
VardaValar1: Trolls seem to have been bred.
VardaValar1: That's a good thought.
AriehnV: (sounds like deathknights ;-) )
ForlongV: Well, there were a great many earth associated Maia ... and they have been know to breed with elves ...
Menelvagor Valar (5:47:45 PM): Ahem, sorry to say, but my eyes seem to want to close themselves on their own, so I think I should start thinking of heading to bed.
VardaValar1 (5:47:54 PM): Black blood, same as orcs. May have something to do with the corruption method of making them.
Eonwe Valar (5:47:54 PM): We only know of one Maia/Elf union.
ArPharazonV (5:47:55 PM) has left the room.
VardaValar1 (5:48:02 PM): Sleep well, Menel
AriehnV (5:48:10 PM): NN Menel
ForlongV (5:48:13 PM): Night Menel.
VardaValar1 (5:48:56 PM): This transcript will probably be a quilt from several, with all our crashing. : )
AriehnV (5:48:56 PM): Melian and Thiingol whose daughter was Luthien
ForlongV (5:49:19 PM): Correct.
Menelvagor Valar (5:49:48 PM): I'll keep my laptop online so I can get the rest of the meeting :-)
Menelvagor Valar (5:49:56 PM): Night night everyone.
VardaValar1 (5:50:04 PM): Thanks. Forlong and I will need to leave soon.
Eonwe Valar (5:50:06 PM): Sleep well menel.
VardaValar1 (5:50:10 PM): Sorry we started so late.
VardaValar1 (5:50:21 PM): Trolls make a very interesting topic, not done much.
ForlongV (5:50:29 PM): Yes a 7 pm showing ... maybe research this a bit and continue on?
VardaValar1 (5:50:51 PM): Another day then. : )
AriehnV (5:51:16 PM): another day , another may .. then with sun we will have fun :)
VardaValar1 (5:51:20 PM): :-)
VardaValar1 (5:51:31 PM): Hi from Phar, having trouble reentering.
VardaValar1 (5:51:42 PM): He's rebooting his pc
AriehnV (5:51:43 PM): bah seems to be catching
VardaValar1 (5:52:00 PM): This new AIM version seems buggy, as all new versions.
VardaValar1 (5:52:22 PM): Return of the King  Appendix F "Of Other Races":
Sauron found the original dull, lumpish Trolls with no more language than beasts and made use of them. He taught them what little they could learn and increased their wits with wickedness. Then the Trolls learned what language they could from the Orcs.
ForlongV (5:52:23 PM): Maybe tailored more to Vista.
AriehnV (5:52:31 PM): I am using Trillian atm which is a multiple program so  // ;)
VardaValar1 (5:52:35 PM): Windows XP here.
VardaValar1 (5:52:40 PM): Yay Trillian!
VardaValar1 (5:52:54 PM): Maybe that would help us too. Pretty stable?
luthienathariel (5:53:08 PM): Windows - duh, that's orc stuff ;)
VardaValar1 (5:53:18 PM): hehe - too true!
AriehnV (5:53:20 PM): yep very much so ,  i never had trouble with that
VardaValar1 (5:53:28 PM): Good to know, Arien.
AriehnV (5:53:48 PM): its free , u can store up to four connections ( various programs) in it and connect all at the same time
ArPharazonV (5:53:50 PM) has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: ahh, here we go
AriehnV: welcome back :-)
Eonwe Valar: I'm reminded of a post on the Old yahoo DB about an inscription on a Microsoft disk :}
ArPharazonV: mind if I go check what the last sentence I saved was, so you can fill me in on what's been happening?
VardaValar1: Welcome back!
ArPharazonV: ForlongV: Well, there were a great many earth associated Maia ... and they have been know to breed with elves ...
ArPharazonV: that's the last sentence I got
ArPharazonV: anything interesting come up since then?
luthienathariel: I protest that my mother is being mentioned in terms of "breeding".
luthienathariel: ;-)
VardaValar1: oops : )
ForlongV: *chuckles*
luthienathariel: I mean - just *one* child ...
ArPharazonV: hehe
VardaValar1: True too!
ArPharazonV: hmm, according to one version she had a brother
luthienathariel: humans should take example, 't would limit some problems they have
luthienathariel: yes, a very old version indeed
luthienathariel: where Daeron was ...
ForlongV: Well, the maia that served Morgoth may not have been as circumspect ....
ArPharazonV: you're not going to suggest he bred Balrogs with ents, are you? ;-)
ForlongV: Nope ...
VardaValar1: /desktophead
luthienathariel: *hands mousepad to Valar*
luthienathariel: no varda
VardaValar1: j/k
ForlongV: Though flaming trees ... wuold be self destructive .... mostly.
Eonwe Valar: Seeing as Tolkien struck out the Children of the Valar, I get the impression he wanted the idea of Ainur having children to be a bit more unique.
VardaValar1: *whew - saved by the soft mousepad*
VardaValar1: Fionwe and Arien were no longer my kids. So sad.
VardaValar1: Eonwe is the now version of Fionwe.
ForlongV: True .. keep them other than human ... too remeniscent of the pagan dieties for some sensiubilities.
AriehnV: ah more of a sister then :-) Auntie :-)
Eonwe Valar: For his own likely :}
ArPharazonV: *nod* all the greek gods were siblings or had some other relation...
VardaValar1: For Tolkien's need to make a new type of being, for a better and different mythology.
VardaValar1: The other pantheons got pretty odious due to such things.
ArPharazonV: Zeus had several half-human descendants I believe
Eonwe Valar: Hercules, Perseus,...
AriehnV: Correct yup
Eonwe Valar: The Greek gods and goddesses weren't very good role models, hehe.
VardaValar1: Aye. :-)
ForlongV: Okay all I must depart. See you all next week. (very bad at multitasking in gaming)
AriehnV: good night Forlong :-) nice to meet you
Eonwe Valar: Take care and have fun in LotRO :}
ForlongV has left the room.
AriehnV: right i fear i have to go as well :-(
AriehnV: bed time , ealies tomorrow
AriehnV: even earlies
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well :}
VardaValar1: Good night!
AriehnV: :-) Have fun and rest well when u get to it :-)
ArPharazonV: Namarie
ArPharazonV: hmm, I've just finished reading the new RP-post
AriehnV: *flashes ray and vanishes in golden ball*
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: I have the first part saved. If Eonwe or Phar or someone(s) can send the rest, I'll stitch it together. :-)
ArPharazonV: interesting development
VardaValar1: Great post, guys!
Eonwe Valar: We did our best :}
ArPharazonV: I have the first part too *grin* I need you to cover for when I was gone
VardaValar1: Can do!
VardaValar1: *bangs gavel*
top

After-meeting:
VardaValar1: Free talk, Tolkien included. : )
VardaValar1: Spectacular exit by Arien. :-)
ArPharazonV: hmmm *rubs eyes* all those years in a cave, not used to the light
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: We have a big LotRO group here to help Caranthir. : )
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, looking again at that joint-post, it just might be the longest post so far.
luthienathariel: oh - did I mention that I made a sindarin translation of the Song of Beren and Lúthien?
luthienathariel: *silence*
luthienathariel: ah well ;-)
VardaValar1: Is it up, Luthien?
luthienathariel: up where?
VardaValar1: Maybe lag. I answered pretty fast.
ArPharazonV: I've made a lot of long posts in my time, Eonwe, might want to check against a few, first one that comes to mind is the one on the morning where we left Erebor
VardaValar1: Emailed for posting then?
VardaValar1: Can we look at it? : )
luthienathariel: no, I dont think we discussed it before
luthienathariel: sure
luthienathariel: I think I put it somewhere
luthienathariel: on a blog
VardaValar1: ok
luthienathariel: yep - from the uni - http://luthien.weblog.leidenuniv.nl/
VardaValar1: Thanks!
luthienathariel: it's not the latest version tho
luthienathariel: scroll down to the table
VardaValar1: ok.
luthienathariel: I'll update it first
VardaValar1: Pardon, I have to run this group in LotRO, or at least start collecting them and let them run it. :-)
VardaValar1: I will check that out for sure later!
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: If our posts had line numbers next to them I'd know for sure, but just going by the length, it's at least in the running :}
ArPharazonV: *nod* definitely
ArPharazonV: wondering about my own post, I don't really have a reason to go to that clearing with the rest of you
ArPharazonV: maybe I'll hang around the wounded girl for a bit before watching you return
Eonwe Valar: There's certainly some preparations you can/need to make to continue to Rivendell?
Eonwe Valar: Aye, that's an idea too.
ArPharazonV: also true
ArPharazonV: we'll see
ArPharazonV: I have to check the dagger-thing, might get a messenger to arrive... unless we already did that? it sounds familiar, but I have lots of story-ideas in my head that may or may not have been implemented
Eonwe Valar: I remember you going to check on them when we were in the area, don't think anything's come of the daggers since then.
ArPharazonV: never discussed/posted about a messenger with the rest of the daggers to arrive at Rivendell for me?
ArPharazonV: maybe it'll be a "next morning" thing... "Look, this package arrived for you last night"
Eonwe Valar: Don't think we did, but Mirkwood would be a more likely place to arrive.
ArPharazonV: ehr yeah
ArPharazonV: I meant Mirkwood
Eonwe Valar: Ah, ok.
ArPharazonV: hm, Thranduil's Halls really need a name :-)
Eonwe Valar: Mini-Menegroth? :}
ArPharazonV: hehe
ArPharazonV: Mirkgroth
Eonwe Valar: The fifty-or-so caves :}
ArPharazonV: I also read in that Atlas some arguments why Thranduil's Halls would be made out of limestone, just so you know ;-)
ArPharazonV: lots of interesting geographical information with compelling arguments
Eonwe Valar: Been a while since I read that :} Mostly been using the maps :}
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
ArPharazonV: a true atlas in that respect
Eonwe Valar: A useful book.
ArPharazonV: absolutely
luthienathariel: k, updated the poem just now
ArPharazonV: ok, saving and sending
