Before-meeting
Session Start (ArPharazonV:!aol://2719:10-4-valarguildmeetingplace): Sun May 01 22:34:20 2016 0200
arpharazonv: Aiya!
Varda Valar: yay! That one worked. :-)
Varda Valar: We're about half an hour early, yay us. :-)
arpharazonv: Better to be safe for when it fails.
Varda Valar: Agreed
Eonwe Valar: Heya :}
Varda Valar: Aiya Eonwe!
arpharazonv: Aiya!
Varda Valar: Thank you to your family for letting us borrow you a bit. Feel free to lurk if needed. :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: Glad I was able to make a window for the Meeting. Didn't want to miss it the one chance I get to be here :}
arpharazonv: Aiya Flad!
FladrifV: Aiya!
Eonwe Valar: I was going to offer Phar some help on the troubles he was having with AIM last I heard, but seems you'vve got it taken care of, Phar?
Eonwe Valar: Heya Fladrif :}
Varda Valar: Fladrif! Yay!
arpharazonv: Not really no. I'm on Trillian now, since I still can't enter or be invited on AIM.
FladrifV: Pidgin for the win
arpharazonv: But I can't invite myself through trillian, and transcripts are a bit of a mess.
arpharazonv: I think I have Pidgin somewhere too, but Trillian seemed to wotk the best out of the alternatives.
Varda Valar: yay  :-)
Eonwe Valar: Odd. I just downloaded this version of AIM from the AIM website (legacy page) and didn't take anything really to get it working.
Eonwe Valar: Well, "just downloaded" = last night
Varda Valar: It seems to make messy transcripts.
arpharazonv: I don't know. Might be a firewall though, but even with all of that disabled it still didn't work. Might be something basic in my account that can't be changed from within any of the programs.
arpharazonv: I'm just glad it works with Trillian.. somewhat, some of the time.
Eonwe Valar: That would be odd if it's something in your account. Interested in taking a few minutes for it, or not so much?
arpharazonv: Ehrr, might be problematic. If I switch now, and it fails, everyone would have to leave the chatroom again for me to be invited again.
arpharazonv: We really should've done this about half an hour ago.
Eonwe Valar: OK, fair enough.
arpharazonv: But if you have suggestions, that's fine.
Varda Valar: Fladrif, would that be a problem for you?
Eonwe Valar: My first one was going to be to make sure you got it from the right site. Trying to dig up the link.
FladrifV: I can rejoin if needed
arpharazonv: Right, I'll start AIM again.
Varda Valar: Thanks. :-)
FladrifV: if I understood the problem correctly
Varda Valar: We appreciate your help and your company. :-)
Eonwe Valar: I assume you went to AIM.com and clicked on the link that says:"Click here to download the older AIM For Windows (7.5.14.8) client"
arpharazonv: I am on 7.5.14.8, yes.
Eonwe Valar: OK good.
Eonwe Valar: Now, when you invite yourself to the room, you're clicking on "options" next to your name at the top, then selecting "New Group Chat", typing your name into the name window, then channel name into the channel name spot.
Varda Valar: That's mine too. Don't see how to clear the timestamps off the final log, or the spaces between people talking.
Eonwe Valar: Timestamps should still be a setting.
Eonwe Valar: Settings > General IM > Display timestamp on IMs. Turn that off.
arpharazonv: If I do that, I get a window that says "Starting Buddy Chat Session..." for about 10 seconds, then a message at the bottom that says Invite or request timed out, with a button OK.
arpharazonv: ehrr no, a button saying Close. Sorry.
arpharazonv: testing...
arpharazonv: testing again
arpharazonv: Hmm.
Session Close (!aol://2719:10-4-valarguildmeetingplace): Sun May 01 23:03:06 2016 0200

Eonwe Valar (3:57:56 PM):    Timestamps don't seem to be working at all for me.
Eonwe Valar (3:58:21 PM):    Oh wait, not showing where I expected, but they're there, nevermind.
Eonwe Valar (3:58:51 PM):    This new version does some different things it seems. Used to have the timestamps next to the name.
perseid28 (3:59:22 PM):    Aiya everyone
Eonwe Valar (3:59:34 PM):    Heya :}
Varda Valar (3:59:43 PM):    Aiya Lenwe :-)
Varda Valar (4:01:27 PM):    We're experimenting on Ar-Pharazon trying to invite his various selves
perseid28 (4:02:19 PM):    Experiments are fun, I approve ;)
perseid28 (4:02:30 PM):    as in, trying different ways to connect to the chat room?
Varda Valar (4:05:10 PM):    Aye
Varda Valar (4:06:26 PM):    and we're back to session already exists
Varda Valar (4:06:36 PM):    Only fix we found for that is restarting the chat room
Varda Valar (4:07:20 PM):    Will everyone be able to come back if we restart? Please type Yes
Varda Valar (4:07:22 PM):    Yes
fladrifv (4:07:52 PM):    yes
Varda Valar (4:08:03 PM):    That's two of us. :-)
perseid28 (4:08:12 PM):    yes
Varda Valar (4:08:22 PM):    Ok, we'll give it a shot!
Eonwe Valar (4:08:29 PM):    Yes.
Varda Valar (4:08:34 PM):    yay
Varda Valar (4:14:58 PM):    So we learned that if the inviter leaves the room, it breaks the message that says we already have a session with that buddy.
Varda Valar (4:15:04 PM):    So we can invite again.
Varda Valar (4:15:17 PM):    But the invite is not going through on AIM, although we have the same version.
Varda Valar (4:15:27 PM):    This log is in trouble. :-)
Arien V (4:18:53 PM):    Aiya all
Varda Valar (4:19:10 PM):    Aiya Arien :-)
Arien V (4:19:14 PM):    is that an Ent i see before me :D?
Varda Valar (4:19:18 PM):    It is!
Varda Valar (4:19:26 PM):    Phar is having trouble connecting again
Arien V (4:19:40 PM):    bleh ...
ElladanV (4:20:04 PM):    Aiya y'all
Varda Valar (4:20:04 PM):    Aiya Elladan :-)
ElladanV (4:20:17 PM):    More folks here than usual. I lik eit
ElladanV (4:20:20 PM):    like it*
ElladanV (4:20:34 PM):    Seems Sundays aren't the best for me
ElladanV (4:20:38 PM):    today fever of 102
Varda Valar (4:20:46 PM):    ugh
Varda Valar (4:20:53 PM):    Taking something for it?
ElladanV (4:21:06 PM):    yep
ElladanV (4:21:30 PM):    I was told, and usually do, look to the bright side of things. So that being said... hey, free hallucinations
Varda Valar (4:21:35 PM):    If you need to rest or just lurk, please take it easy. Glad to see you.
Varda Valar (4:21:41 PM):    Oh goody
ElladanV (4:22:14 PM):    seriously last night I woke up 3x to terror. One time I heard something growl behind me and it wasn't my dog. Another time I heard a barking dog outside my windows
Varda Valar (4:22:15 PM):    You don't need a hologram then.
ElladanV (4:22:19 PM):    nope
ElladanV (4:22:22 PM):    I'm good for now
Varda Valar (4:22:44 PM):    Phar is having connection problems. Eonwe is trying to help him.
ElladanV (4:22:45 PM):    If I could get the sweating to stop, I'd be golden
ElladanV (4:22:55 PM):    okay
Varda Valar (4:23:04 PM):    If it stops on its own, be careful.
Varda Valar (4:23:49 PM):    Phar says he's going back to Trillian
Varda Valar (4:24:01 PM):    Thank you everyone for your patience during the experiment. :-)
Eonwe Valar (4:24:44 PM):    No luck figuring out Phar's AIM problem. I think we've ruled out settings pretty thoroughly though.
Varda Valar (4:25:16 PM):    I'm going to have to leave the chat a sec. Getting the already existing buddy chat thing
Varda Valar (4:26:05 PM):    Eonwe, want to try an invite?
Eonwe Valar (4:26:21 PM):    Sent

Session Start (ArPharazonV:!aol://2719:10-4-valarguildmeetingplace): Sun May 01 23:26:16 2016 0200
Varda Valar: Huzzah! Eonwe's worked.
arpharazonv: Yay!
arpharazonv: Aiya all.
Arien V: aiya Phari and Eonwe! so glad to see you bth :-)
Eonwe Valar: That might've been my fault. I had an outstanding invite for the meeting channel for him.
arpharazonv: And apparently the person inviting me doesn't change anything about the identity of the room or my chat history, which is good.
Varda Valar: Good to know
Arien V: and hope your feeling better soon Elladan
Varda Valar: I had to leave to clear the outstanding invites
arpharazonv: Elladan ill?
arpharazonv: Good thing Varda has a transcript for the time I was gone then :)
Varda Valar: Aye. 102 F fever, quite high. Let someone else translate to C for you. :-)
Varda Valar: Um, I kept going in and out of the room too. We'll call it Before-meeting stuff.
arpharazonv: Ah, right. But then there's.. Eonwe? I don't know ;) We'll piece stuff together.
Varda Valar: heh

Varda Valar: None

Varda Valar: Grats to Fladrif on his move back to Germany and being able to be with us here again!
arpharazonv: Yay!
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
ElladanV: Haffenweisenwiffleflaugen!
ElladanV: Not even a work, just wanted it to look German
Varda Valar: Gesundheit
ElladanV: looks legit too
arpharazonv: It does sound about right.
ElladanV: and that would be the word for "hi"
ElladanV: lol
arpharazonv: I bet it means something even though you don't know what.
ElladanV: might
ElladanV: weisen is white I think
Varda Valar: In very cool membership news,
ElladanV: or weise

Varda Valar: Lenwe's brother joined us this week, Erkenbrand-(V)
ElladanV: congrats!
arpharazonv: Welcome!
Eonwe Valar: Hail and Welcome to Erkenbrand!
Varda Valar: He didn't have an IM, so we'll let Lenwe make comments if he's still here. :-)
Arien V: weiss .. Elladan .. is white ^
Varda Valar: Erkendan plays LotRO, and sometimes plays SWTOR because he likes Star Wars.  :-)
Varda Valar: Thanks, Arien
Varda Valar: I'm running between two computers, makes it crazy since the Valar stuff is on one and everything else on the other.

Varda Valar: In very cool news, Eonwe is back for a bit. Any comments, Eonwe?
Eonwe Valar: Heya all. To those I haven't met before, Hail and belated welcome to the Valar Guild :}
Eonwe Valar: I got a new computer recently, and I think I've just got about everything transferred into it now :}
Arien V: Aiya Eonwe :-) or rather Aiyata :-D
Arien V: and thats great news
Varda Valar: Eonwe is co-chair with me, and a full Vala Honor. He's using the name of one of the Lost Valar.
Varda Valar: not a Maia
Eonwe Valar: Glad I could make it to a meeting, even if it's just one :} But you all know you can also see the Games Site for how I keep myself busy, and I'm accessible through e-mail and the Forum if we get a discussion going :}
ElladanV: I don't know German but I know some Danish
Varda Valar: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/papers/LostValar.htm
Varda Valar: You've been to nearly all our meetings through your Games Site reports. :-)
Eonwe Valar: :} I'm glad to hear that :}
arpharazonv: Basically a face from behind the screens :)
Varda Valar: Here's hoping you get a few minutes for gaming in WoW, LotRO and your other games too!
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :} I'll cede the floor back to Varda :}
Varda Valar: Any other membership news?
Varda Valar: *waxes floor so the stars shine from it too*
ElladanV: Sorry I guess when I lag behind and come in and chime about something from 10 minutes prior
ElladanV: lol
ElladanV: sorry!
Varda Valar: Quite all right. :-)
arpharazonv: I've done that before. It tends to bring a bit of silence to the room...
ElladanV: nah you just moved on without skipping a beat. lol either way didn't mean to.
ElladanV: <3
ElladanV: NOW gonna go get food prepped
Varda Valar: Hey, go ahead and chime in when you can. Happy munching!
ElladanV: Chicken tikka masala tonight with basmati rice and butter naan bread
arpharazonv: Enjoy!
ElladanV: I'll be gone a bit
Varda Valar: *we all are moving the meeting to Elladan's house*
top

Varda Valar: Web:
arpharazonv: *jumps on a plane*
ElladanV: had the chicken marinating overnight. Now going to grill it, then simmer in a tomato/cream/garlic/jalapeno sauce
Eonwe Valar: hehe
ElladanV: with garam masala etc
ElladanV: :)
Arien V: *jumps on Anar to sail to Elladan"
ElladanV: cmon
ElladanV: I have plenty!
ElladanV: One thing I CAN do is cook
ElladanV: like a mofo

Varda Valar: No new art this week. The artists tend to do other work besides Tolkien, if you can imagine.

ElladanV: technical term
Varda Valar: Hobbits will love you and put up a statue to you, next to Bullroarer's.
ElladanV: me?
ElladanV: LOL
Eonwe Valar: No definition required.
Arien V: yes you :-)
ElladanV: but OH OH sorry
ElladanV: nah she was tlking about the artists
ElladanV: I think
arpharazonv: I think the statue was for you.
ElladanV: nice... I even make second breakfast :P
arpharazonv: For your mad cooking skills.
Varda Valar: The statue was from the hobbits for the cook.
ElladanV: kudos

ElladanV: I don't cook like an elf
Varda Valar: Depends. Elves can do fancy stuff or camping stuff.
ElladanV: My brother graduated CIA with honors, and I run circles around him in the kitchen. He conceded long ago to my innate skills
Varda Valar: Elladan as one who goes out fighting and camping would know both, in the books.
Eonwe Valar: "Laws and Customs Among the Eldar" suggests Elven men loved to cook.
ElladanV: call it what you will..... innate skills, or hanging with an Italian grandma in the kitchen so you can steal sips of beer
Eonwe Valar: I imagine they had quite the culinary expertise.

ElladanV: If I could do it all over, I'd be a chef
arpharazonv: You learn to cook at the CIA?
ElladanV: can't now unfortunately
ElladanV: my brother did
ElladanV: Culinary Institute of America, not Central Intelligence Agency
ElladanV: lol
Varda Valar: Acronyms have too many different meanings. :-)
arpharazonv: ....Right, that makes more sense.
ElladanV: highest ranked culinary school in USA
ElladanV: I'm sure secret service has their own chefs, as to not implant intragastrointestinal bugs to listen in lol
ElladanV: 50 cents for that word thank you
arpharazonv: Or maybe they learn to cook so they can implant those elsewhere.
Varda Valar: We may start wondering about tummy rumblings.
ElladanV: maybe
ElladanV: I love you guys for the introspection
ElladanV: :)
ElladanV: get back to Valar bidness
ElladanV: I'm gonna make this place smell awesome
arpharazonv: Enjoy!
Varda Valar: Huzzah for the best perfume!

Varda Valar: Web:
Varda Valar: continued.
Varda Valar: DeepGroover did show some spelunking photos, not sure you can see them:
Varda Valar: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10209285236667507&set=pcb.10209285246827761&type=3&theater
arpharazonv: Can't see it, might be account only.
perseid28: same here
Varda Valar: Probably have to friend him.
Varda Valar: Too bad, lot of great cave pics.
Eonwe Valar: Likewise, says it's either expired or on a need to know basis and I don't need to know, hehe.
Varda Valar: They are pics he made himself, came out well even with low light.
Varda Valar: ok.
Eonwe Valar: Cool :}
Varda Valar: The Games Site has some great updating though. :-)
top

Varda Valar: Gaming:
Varda Valar: First off

Varda Valar: LotRO is having the ninth anniversary celebrations.
Varda Valar: Grab your scary black demon goat now! Should continue to about May 8
Varda Valar: Now ceding the gaming news floor to Eonwe. :-)
Eonwe Valar: How do we "grab it"?
Varda Valar: Barter anniversary tokens from doing anniversary quests.
Eonwe Valar: If it's not too involved a question :}
Eonwe Valar: Ah, ok :}
Varda Valar: your barter from previous years is still available. Takes 40 tokens.
Varda Valar: You get a map to the fireworks area on entry to the game. Free ride there.
Varda Valar: Also go to the Boar Fountain in Bree for more questing and the barter guys.
Varda Valar: Plus the two races. No regular party stuff, that will be for other events.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Varda Valar: And ceding you the newly polished floor, Eonwe.
Eonwe Valar: *Bows* Thanks :}

Eonwe Valar: World of Warcraft:
Eonwe Valar: This week's new Toybox Tuesday blog: I'll meet you at the Faire.
Eonwe Valar: Another new blog: Achievement Hunting: Off to the Races.
arpharazonv: Which is one that actually showed up on Europe as well this time.
Eonwe Valar: If you haven't done the Sylvanas' necklace quest, this blog tells you about it: The Lady's Necklace: The Gift of Song. (It'sa nice song.)
arpharazonv: ...Unfortunately, that one didn't.
Eonwe Valar: Don't forget to see what's going on This month in WoW. (Darkmoon Fare going right now)
Eonwe Valar: On a side note, there's word that the gold cap is going up in Legion, so if you were trying to hit the current gold cap for some crazy reason, you might want to hurry :}
arpharazonv: Yay, we get to have little brats running behind our mounts again as we race through Azeroth!
Eonwe Valar: And by "for some crazy reason" I of course mean I'm working on it, lol.
arpharazonv: Hmm. Made it to 300k a few times this expansion, before buying big stuff. Not going to make it to a million, but still much more than I ever had in any expansion :)
Eonwe Valar: Don't know if I'll make enough gold by then, but we'll see, hehe. I'm not pushing myself, but if I get there, great :}

Eonwe Valar: Diablo 3:
Eonwe Valar: Patch 2.4.1 has arrived and Season 6 has begun. Check out the rewards.

Eonwe Valar: Starcraft 2:
Eonwe Valar: Changes are coming to the loading screen in the next patch. Check them out.

Eonwe Valar: Hearthstone:
Eonwe Valar: Whispers of the Old Gods is out as well as a new patch. Check out the patch notes.

Eonwe Valar: Heroes of the Storm:
Eonwe Valar: Check out the balance update notes.

Eonwe Valar: Overwatch:
Eonwe Valar: There's a new digital comic: "Dragon Slayer".
Eonwe Valar: Don't forget Overwatch is coming out near the end of the month, for those interested.
Eonwe Valar: Open Beta should be available soon for those that pre-ordered.

Eonwe Valar: And with that,  I cede the floor back to Varda :}
Varda Valar: Thank you. It seems undamaged.
arpharazonv: Still shiny?
Varda Valar: Stars still mirroriing back, aye. :-)
Varda Valar: Any further news or comments? This is your chance while you have a batch of officers handy.
Eonwe Valar: :}
Varda Valar: You want more gold?
Varda Valar: *hands over a bag of gold*
Varda Valar: Virtual gold can be fun.
Varda Valar: *tosses gold in the air* Shiny!

arpharazonv: I'll just mention that for those curious about Legion (WoW continued)
Varda Valar: Go ahead.
arpharazonv: the MMO-Champion website has been getting a ton of info lately when it comes to content and achievements, including a few I was really curious about myself.
Eonwe Valar: I was going to make a "Battle of Five Armies" movie reference, but wasn't sure if we're still at the "Spoilers" concern level on it.
arpharazonv: I was checking it myself pretty much daily for a specific piece of info, and got that a few days ago... the origin of the bearform appearance for the artefact I get as a druid, comes from an archeology achievement!
arpharazonv: So now I know what to look out for :)
arpharazonv: In any case, there's spoilers too, as well as new mounts, etc... so you might want to avoid it if you're not curious enough. But it seemed like a good time to mention it.
arpharazonv: There's quite a bit of a cascade of information for the next WoW expansion going on right now.
arpharazonv: Aaand the rest of my news will be posted in aftermeeting.
Varda Valar: Thanks for the extras. :-)
top

Varda Valar: Tolkien:
Varda Valar: If you have a question that you'd like us to mull over that is Tolkienesque, now is a good time to ask.
Varda Valar: Or a quote you'd like to make from Tolkien, called a Tolkien Moment by us. :-)
Varda Valar: Lenwe found a bad link on our website, seeing what I can do. Have to do it on the other comp until I transfer everything here.
arpharazonv: busy busy

Varda Valar: Ok, one thing I realized when we brought in our new member, Erkenbrand-(V), is that we haven't talked much about him. What do we know?
arpharazonv: One of the commanders in Rohan, his troops were scattered during Saruman's invasion, and Gandalf rounded em all up to aid Helm's Deep.

Varda Valar: I only find him mentioned in the Two Towers, where he appears a surprising number of times.
Varda Valar: Folks might want to grab a copy of the TT and check the index for Erkenbrand.
Varda Valar: For artists, a neat bit is that he carries a red shield.
Varda Valar: We first hear of Erkenbrand from a rider of Rohan coming to report to Eomer and finds Theoden instead. A great morale booster after all the bad news.
Varda Valar: For LotRO players, this battle at the Isen is one of the big story events we get to join in.
Varda Valar: After Theodred's death, things went evilly.
Varda Valar: The riders were driven back over the Isen with great loss, many perished at the crossing.
Varda Valar: At night fresh forces came against their camp. It seemed that all Isengard had been emptied
arpharazonv: Doh. Only my RotK has an index.
Varda Valar: The RotK index hits all three books.
arpharazonv: It does, but I only brought TT from my room.
Varda Valar: oops, sorry
Eonwe Valar: Glad I grabbed both TT and RotK and not just the former :}
perseid28: lol, I nearly did the same
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Varda Valar: The wild hillmen and herd-folk of Dunland, armed by Saruman, added to the dangers.
Varda Valar: The Rohirrim were overwhelmed, the shield-wall broken.
Varda Valar: Erkenbrand drew off the men he could and took them to his fastness of Helm's Deep.
Varda Valar: The rider doing the report is named Ceorl and is thrilled to meet Theoden.

arpharazonv: Looks like we just lost Fladrif. He logged out of battle.net too.

Varda Valar: Then they all ride to the help of Erkenbrand.
Varda Valar: Gandalf warns them not to go to the Isen but to Helm's Deep
Varda Valar: Erkenbrand is the Master of the Westfold on the borders of the Mark, and dwelled in the Hornburg at Helm's Gate.
arpharazonv: Right, so Helm's Deep is his place specifically.
Varda Valar: He was wise. Seeing the war coming closer, he repaired the wall and strengthened the fortress.

ElladanV: soooooooooooooooooo
Varda Valar: Aye
Varda Valar: Welcome back, chef. :-)
ElladanV: interjected again
ElladanV: it's still cooking
Varda Valar: Good to know you're here. :-)
ElladanV: grill
Varda Valar: mmm grilled food.
ElladanV: next step
ElladanV: I check now and then
ElladanV: calm down
ElladanV: Y'all need food for the forum
ElladanV: so

Eonwe Valar: Hmm, could've sworn Erkenbrand was at the Pelennor Fields, but I don't seem to see any mention of him.
Varda Valar: The host of Theoden didn't know where Erkenbrand was, so they went ahead to the Helm's Gate as Gandalf suggested.
arpharazonv: Face in the crowd somewhere, Eonwe...
Varda Valar: He stayed behind to guard Rohan. Somebody good had to do it.
arpharazonv: Ah.
Varda Valar: Arriving at Helm's Gate, Theoden's people were thrilled to find that Erkenbrand had wisely left many men there to guard it.
Varda Valar: More folk had escaped to it.
Varda Valar: They said that Erkenbrand was trying to return there with all that was left of the best riders, but had not made it in.
Varda Valar: Since the enemy filled the valley behind Theoden's riders as they came in, it didn't sound good.
Varda Valar: Theoden said that in Erkenbrand lived again the valour of Helm Hammerhand.
Varda Valar: Forunately, Erkenbrand had the wisdom to make a great store of provisions in the caves of the Deep, the Glittering Caves of Aglarond.
Varda Valar: That was also where they sent the non-combatants.
Varda Valar: It even had many beasts and fodder. A regular Ark against the destruction of war.
Varda Valar: The orcs were burning and destroying all that they passed, so it was a wise decision by Erkenbrand.

ElladanV: going to the store
Varda Valar: Namarie
ElladanV: I forgot cilantro
ElladanV: brb

Varda Valar: We don't hear much about him again until he comes with Gandalf.

Varda Valar: Can't forget that!
Varda Valar: He's got a 102 fever and is going to the store for cilantro.
arpharazonv: It might say a lot about my cooking expertise that I do not know what Cilantro is.
Varda Valar: It's an herb, pretty strong taste. Often seen around where I live in Mexican style cooking.
Varda Valar: (Texas)

Varda Valar: So Gandalf has been out finding Erkenbrand and his riders.
Varda Valar: He brings them in when they can do some good, rather than being mown down.
Varda Valar: Erkenbrand's forces and Gandalf's light pushed the orcs into the huorn forest.
Varda Valar: They didn't come out.

ElladanV: brb leaving now
Varda Valar: bye
arpharazonv: Namarie!
Eonwe Valar: Take care :}

Varda Valar: "The wild men fell on their faces before him." Gandalf that is.
Varda Valar: The orcs ran into the huorn forest, having run in terror, dropping sword and spear. (No one said they were smart?)
arpharazonv: At least you can try to chop a tree with a sword.
arpharazonv: Spear, they can leave behind.
Varda Valar: Good point.
Varda Valar: Erkenbrand is mentioned again a little later, when they have the prisoners.
Varda Valar: Only the hillmen were left since they didn't try to argue with huorns. (We seem to be missing our ent, Fladrif)
arpharazonv: Must've done a runner.
Varda Valar: Anyway, Erkenbrand told the hillmen to repair the evil they had done, and take an oath to not cross the Isen, and to not march again with the enemies of Men.
Varda Valar: Then they could go free, since they were but duped by Saruman.
arpharazonv: Would that oath also go for their descendants?
Varda Valar: "The men of Dunland were amazed, for Saruman had told them that the men of Rohan were cruel and burned their captives alive."
Varda Valar: oh, I should add, not to pass the Isen in arms (as in to make war)
Varda Valar: They could come back with wares, trade you out of all your silver, but not try to kill you.
Varda Valar: The huorns cleaned up the dead orc bodies. A good thing since the Rohirrim didn't have enough wood to burn them all to prevent disease and to just clean up.
arpharazonv: I'm guessing the huorns weren't volunteering for that job.
Varda Valar: It wasn't just huorns. Ents were there too, seen by Gandalf and companions.
Varda Valar: Sure. Fertilizer. :-)
arpharazonv: No, I mean burning :)
Varda Valar: Oh, no one wanted to take one single branch from that wood! Right!

Varda Valar: I'm trying to figure out if Erkenbrand went with Theoden, Eomer, and Gandalf when they went out.
Varda Valar: I suspect he may have stayed behind to tend the hurts of his home.
Varda Valar: Ahh, here is more that Gandalf did with friends. Buried riders of the Mark and found that fewer died than rumor said.
Varda Valar: He found many of the scattered and sent them to Erkenbrand.
arpharazonv: Just in time to go to Gondor?
Varda Valar: Some were sent to Edoras
Varda Valar: Heh, right.

Eonwe Valar: My friends, I am afraid that my uninterrupted time has come to an end. I must go afk, but I will keep my AIM window open for transcript purposes etc. while I am gone.
arpharazonv: Namarie Eonwe! Been good seeing you.

Varda Valar: The index doesn't mention all the spots Erl sjpws [Erk shows]

Varda Valar: Namarie!
Varda Valar: Hope you get to eat. :-)
Eonwe Valar: It was good to see all of you and good to be at a meeting again :}
Varda Valar: Huzzah!

Varda Valar: If anyone spots Erkenbrand's name in the group headed to Isengard, sing out. :-)

Eonwe Valar: In case I don't get to say it later, take care, good night, sleep well, and have fun :}
Varda Valar: :-)

Varda Valar: Says the King and his company a lot.
arpharazonv: "To ride with him to Isengard the King chose Eomer and twenty men of his household." No mention of Erkenbrand there.
Varda Valar: I thought "Voice of Saruman" might mention him if he came. I really wouldn't expect him to come.
Varda Valar: unless just to be with Theoden a while.
arpharazonv: He wasn't mentioned in those who were supposed to go with Theoden, nor in the company that left Helm's Deep, as far as I can tell. I think he just stayed at home.
Varda Valar: Agreed.

Varda Valar: This chapter is the only place in canon that a staff is broken, and it is a very big deal.
Varda Valar: It means Saruman is no longer Saruman the White, lost his standing.
arpharazonv: I realize why you say "in canon" ;)
Varda Valar: Cast from the order and the Council.
Varda Valar: The staff breakages in the movies made me very uncomfortable. So wrong.
Varda Valar: Even took away his "color".
Varda Valar: "Saruman, your staff is broken."
arpharazonv: Might've been difficult to portray, his colored robe.
arpharazonv: Wasn't it bright red in one of the cartoons? :)
Varda Valar: heh, maybe. Could look it up.
Varda Valar: It seemed white at a distance, but up close the color was broken into many colors.
Varda Valar: I find absolutely no more mention of Erkenbrand in that company.

Varda Valar: Shall we call it a night?
Varda Valar: Maybe morning for some. :-)
arpharazonv: Oh, it's only just past 1 ;)
Varda Valar: *picks up a gavel*
Varda Valar: *thonk!*
Varda Valar: *eyes gavel suspiciously*
Varda Valar: It... was just a gavel!
top

Varda Valar: After-meeting!
arpharazonv: Right, personal gaming!
Varda Valar: okies

Arien V: i ve seen Pallando in Eve in the valar guild channel but we havent spoken
Arien V: else i played a bit Lotro , SwoTR and Eve online as i said and a bit Diablo 3 where a new season has started
Varda Valar: Good to hear about Pallando :-)
Arien V: aye :-)
Arien V: i ve seen Lenwe in the steam group as well ^^
Arien V: i ll go offline soon though .. bed is calling me massively#
Varda Valar: Bed is good. :-)
Varda Valar: Thanks for telling us!
arpharazonv: Namarie!

arpharazonv: Right.
arpharazonv: I've got 2 flashgames in mind today.
arpharazonv: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/tower_tough has you running through rooms stealthily, while taking out enemies from behind and freeing hostages in increasingly higher levels in the tower, becoming more difficult as you go.
arpharazonv: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/purbalds is a puzzle platformer with little purple bald guys who you have to move simultaneously to move around, collect items, and get to the exit.

arpharazonv: Now, blizzard games. Been a busy week for that.
arpharazonv: Heroes of the Storm: Levelling Zagara a bit, and getting some xp on the other heroes I've got as well, as usual. I'm getting a lot of gold now, and have over 50000 gold. I should be able to buy some heroes with that when the time comes!
arpharazonv: Hearthstone: Got the initial quests that came with the launch of this expansion done, though I haven't opened the packs yet. It comes with a new division in Wild decks (all cards) and Standard decks (past 2 years and the classic and basic cards), and I have a few decks for both modes now, but I'm not sure which one I want to focus on. I've got a few better than basic decks that use "wild" cards, so I do like that, but on the other hand a fresh start is nice. Maybe I'll alternate a bit, not sure yet.
arpharazonv: I also finally continued the League of Explorers adventure, and only have one wing left to beat, but I spent all my gold earlier so I'm saving up some for that wing now :)
arpharazonv: Diablo 3: New season started, like Arien said.
arpharazonv: Earlier this week I finally recovered from the end of last season, getting all the seasonal gear out of the mail and either putting them away or dusting them. I could really use some new stash space from season, but that's difficult to get!
arpharazonv: And for the new season itself I "rebirthed" my crusader, since I think I got the hang of that last season and I thought I'd stick with what I know when it comes to the final objectives, maybe being a bit more successful this season.
arpharazonv: She's level 37 so far, but gaining xp pretty fast.
arpharazonv: Chapter one is already complete, but that one's of course the easiest.
arpharazonv: WoW:
arpharazonv: We managed to defeat Iron Maidens in Blackrock Foundry on mythic this week, so that's some progress, even if it's an old raid.
arpharazonv: I haven't had too much time to deal with other WoW projects, but I did get the troll to level 21, meaning he has access to mounts at normal speed now. The riding skill took a bit of money though, but that taught me how to make a bit of cash from the inscription profession I got for him.
arpharazonv: He's still questing in Azshara, though levelling a bit too fast for the place. But I did enjoy a quest that made me send a brood of genetically engineered intelligent raptors into space to colonize another planet.
arpharazonv: Garrison is still chugging along as well, with almost 900 shipyard missions done now. Nearing the final achievement for 1000!
arpharazonv: And that would be my gaming news for this week!
arpharazonv: Aside from the discovery for Legion I made that I mentioned earlier :)
Varda Valar: Thank you, Phar :-)

Arien V: Namarie all :-)
Varda Valar: Namarie
Arien V: i ll see you next week
Varda Valar: yay
arpharazonv: Namarie!
arpharazonv: saving and sending transcript
Varda Valar: Thank you, Phar
Eonwe Valar: Everyone's still here. Wow :}
