Two from the time of the War of the Ring: write a story set in the time of the War of the Ring using only two characters, both of whom must be Tolkien's. Any length. This is the One Ring in The Lord of the Rings. It begins the minute Gandalf learns from study that Frodo's ring is almost surely the One Ring, and ends when the One Ring is completely destroyed.
