Halbarad was a Dúnedan, a Ranger of the North. He was one of Aragorn's truest and greatest friends, and kinsman. Thinking he was responding to Aragorn's summons, he brought most of the Dúnedain out of the north, including Elladan and Elrohir who were the sons of Elrond. They went through the Paths of the Dead, took the Corsair ships, and went to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
