dwarves stood,
like statues, staring out at the black abyss that marked
where safety ended.

Floi pierced by an Orc's arrow. Balin fallen in
the peaceful Mirrormere.
Oin swallowed by The Watcher Who Never Sleeps.
Doom Doom
Drums in the Deep. Constant. Rhythmic. Spelling out their
fate.

The Darkness envelops all. None can escape. Overwhelming.
Overpowering.
Doom Doom
The Darkness falls away, to reveal a creature of Fire.
Durin's Bane. Flame
of Udun.
Doom Doom
We cannot get out. We cannot get out.
The Flame takes all. Balin's Colony has fallen.

Softly echoes off the walls of Khazad-Dum.
