Ori
Ori had a brother named Oin.
Ori was a Dwarf of Thorin's company who went
successfully with Bilbo to remove the dragon, Smaug, from Erebor (The
Lonely Mountain) that had been a home to the Dwarves and which they
desired to reclaim.
(Hobbit; Fellowship:
"The Bridge of Khazad-dum")
Ori and Oin went with Balin to reclaim the
dwarf kingdom of Moria and make a new colony. They did reclaim it for
just under five years and found mithril
(truesilver), before being overrun and massacred by Orcs. Oin was
killed by the Watcher in the Water. Ori died in the last stand in the
Chamber of Mazarbul.
Gimli recognized Ori's handwriting in the Book of Mazarbul (Records) found by Balin's
tomb in the Chamber of Mazarbul. Gimli said, "He could write well and
speedily, and often used the Elvish characters."

Bridge of Khazad-dum")

Ori in
Thorin's Company
Dori, Nori, Ori, and Oin arrived at Bilbo's door at
the same time.
Due to the Hobbit's unwillingness to admit yet more dwarves, Gloin
joined those four to be unintenionally presented at the same time.
Ori probably wore a grey hooded cloak, judging by
the order of presentation in the book. He
may have had
either a gold or silver belt or (less likely) a mix of the two metals.
Some called for ale (likely Dori and Nori), some for
porter (likely
Ori and Oin) and one for coffee (likely Gloin), going by order and
number. But all called for cakes. This group helped finish off the
seed-cakes and started on the buttered scones.
