Finwe was the first king of the Noldor.
Finwe came to life near Lake Quivienen (Cuivienen in
the English translation). He was chosen as one of the three ambassadors
of the Eldar, along with Ingwe and Elwe. They went to Valinor in order
to speak up on behalf of their people.
Finwe got married to Muriel who gave birth to his
son, Kurufinwe (Curufinwe), also called Feanor. But Muriel died after
childbirth because of exhaustion. Years after her death Finwe married
Indis and together they had two sons, Fingolfin and Finarfin.
When his son, Feanor, was banished from Valinor to
Formenos, Finwe followed him to exile and left the leadership of his
people to Fingolfin, his second son.
Finwe was killed by Melkor in front of the gates of
Formenos while Feanor was in Valinor, because he was the only one that
didn’t flee in fear of Melkor’s darkness.

all.
The Silmarillion edition that I used was:
“1st edition of Silmarillion in the Greek language”.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien: The Silmarillion, 1977.
