Elanor is Sindarin elvish, meaning "star-sun".
Found in Lothlorien on the hill of Cerin Amroth.
"At the feet of the trees, and all about the green hillsides, the grass was studded with small golden flowers shaped like stars."
Haldir calls it the yellow elanor and says that it is a winter flower, but Lothlorien lets it bloom all year. Among the grass and elanor also grew the pale niphredil. Frodo calls elanor the little golden flower in the grass.
Elanor Gamgee, Sam's oldest daughter, was named after the flower Sam saw, at Frodo's suggestion. She was blonde and called "the Fair".
