Bombur was a Dwarf and a member of Thorin and Company who fought in the Battle of the Five Armies. After this he settled and lived in Erebor. He was a descendant of the Dwarves who lived on Khazad-dum, but not of the line of Durin. Bombur was an extremely fat dwarf and by the time of the Lord of the Rings he could not move by himself and required six Dwarves to lift him.

Bombur of Thorin's Company

In the last group of Dwarves to arrive at Bilbo's door were Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Thorin, and Gandalf.
Bombur wore a hooded cloak of pale green, the hood of the best detachable party style same as the others. Even then, he was "immensely fat and heavy".
To the food requests of the others, Bombur added pork-pie and salad.
Bombur was one of the dwarves who helped Bilbo clear the table, singing with the others. Only Thorin was considered too important for such duties.
Bombur played the drum, which he had carried with him.
