Son of Baranor. He was a guard appointed by Lord
Denethor to teach Pippin some of the passwords of the city. Beregond
was amazed by Pippin's stories, since such a childish-appearing person
as this young hobbit would not be expected to have such experiences.
Beregond also spoke to Pippin a little of the glory of Gondor of old
and events leading up to the siege of Minas Tirith.
Beregond was described as a "plain man of arms of
the 3rd company of the citadel."
