State of Valar Gaming 2019

Eonwë-(Valar)
October 04th, 2019

To all members of the Valar Guild, Hail and Salutations on the 22nd Anniversary of the Valar Guild! Thank you all for continuing to make this community a great place to be!

Prior to September 2019, per the Games Site roster, there were 162 members playing 26 games.

Of those 162 members:

  • 19 members played Lord of the Rings Online.
  • 9 Members played World of Warcraft.
  • 4 members played each Diablo 3, Eve Online, Heroes of the Storm, and Starcraft 2.
  • 3 members played Guild Wars 2.
  • 1 member played each of Battletech, Battlefield 1, Finaly Fantasy XIV, Frozen Synapse 2, Grim Dawn, Hearthstone, Interplanetary, League of Legends, Rainbow 6: Siege, Rocket League, Spellstone, Starcraft, Stellaris, Supreme Commander, TItan Quest, Titanfall 2, War of Omens, Warframe, and World of Warships.

Additionally:

  • 7 members said they could be found on Battle.net, which is actually available to all of Blizzard recent games.
  • 2 member said they could be found on Steam.
  • 1 member said he could be found on Kongregate.

On September 10th, 2019, the Games Site Mass-Update letter was sent out, requesting all members to send in their most up-to-date gaming information by September 30th. Only members listed as active on the Membership Page, having an e-mail listed there, were sent the GSMU e-mail. This year, that total was 53 (not counting myself). Of those, 2 were undeliverable (tying with last year) and 17 responded by the deadline (again, not counting myself). To those who responded, thank you.

A further 14 members' gaming information was gleaned from Guild Branch activity in World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online. As with previous years, any activity within 90 days was counted as recent activity. The branches examined were on the US servers of Uldaman and Lothar for World of Warcraft, and the servers Landroval, Ithil and Anar for Lord of the Rings Online. My thanks to Varda for supplying the kin information for the Legendary servers Ithil and Anar.

Once all sources accessible were verified for recent activity, the Games Site roster was updated to reflect current gaming information.

As of October 1st, 2019, the Valar Guild Games Site still reflects a total of 162 members playing 26 games.

Of those 162 members:

  • 1 member plays each of Apex Legends, Battletech, Frozen Synapse 2, Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming, Grim Dawn, Hearthstone, League of Legends, Minecraft, Rainbow 6: Siege, Rocket League, Spellstone, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, Starcraft, Stellaris, Supreme Commander, Titan Quest, War of Omens, and Warframe.
  • 2 members play each of Diablo 3 (down by one from last year) and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
  • 3 members play each of Eve Online (down by one from last year), Guild Wars 2, Heroes of the Storm (down by one from last year), and Starcraft 2 (down by one from last year).

World of Warcraft remains our second most played game with 8 members, down by one from last year. 7 of those are playing WoW Classic: 2 of those on Europe servers and 5 of those on US servers.

Lord of the Rings Online remains our most played game with 18 members. That is a drop of 1 from 19 players, but matches last year's numbers after the Games Site Mass-Update.

Additionally:

  • 3 members can be found on Battle.net, 2 on the Americas server and 1 on the Europe server.
  • 1 member can be found on Steam.
  • 1 member can be found on Kongregate.

This concludes the State of Valar Gaming for 2019. As always, please check over your gaming information and make sure it is correct. If you did not respond to the GSMU, you can still send in your gaming information. Remember to keep me updated on games you play that you'd like to be able to find other Guild Members playing. Updates are accepted year-round.

Happy 22nd Anniversary!
