[12:49 AM]Eönwë Valar: Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there.
[1:04 AM]Eönwë Valar: So apparently there's something in the Misty Mountains (lvl 40-50 zone) that has an attack that can 1-shot a lvl 140 Champion and make him incapable of reviving in place.
[1:04 AM]Eönwë Valar: That's rather cheap.
[3:34 PM]Varda: Aiya : )
[3:36 PM]Varda: There are super-monsters here and there throughout LotRO partly to bring high level characters back into the area, such as Roving Threats. It's one way I've lost the Undying title, heh.
[3:37 PM]Varda: Thank you for the great Father's Day images, Eonwe. : )
[3:42 PM]Varda: Heavy rain (falling in sheets) with thunder and lightning. Despite this pleasant sound, it may cause a problem with connection. Right now, it seems ok.
[3:55 PM]Arien Valar: Aiya Varda :|)
[3:55 PM]Arien Valar: hope it goes welll
[3:59 PM]Varda: Thank you. : )
[4:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: Heya.
[4:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: One last reminder that the poll to vote on the Anniversary theme closes in 8 hours. If you haven't voted yet, now's the time. Go Here to vote ---> polls
[4:04 PM]Varda: We have a 3 to 2 going, very close! And there are no bad choices. : )
[4:05 PM]Varda: How's the rain in your area, Eonwe?
[4:05 PM]Varda: Valar Guild site seems to be down at the moment.
[4:06 PM]Varda: @Bounder @Guild-friend Aiya! Valar Guild meeting time! Come say hi. : )

[4:10 PM]Varda: The Valar Guild website appears to be down at the moment.
[4:10 PM]Varda: Ahh, interesting. So they have practice!
[4:10 PM]Varda: How about Scotland?
[4:10 PM]Arien Valar: thats today
[4:10 PM]Varda: Yay! We're in synch on something. : )
[4:11 PM]Arien Valar: aye
[4:11 PM]Arien Valar: i guess it may have come over the ocean to you
[4:12 PM]Arien Valar: I hope my father did enjoy a wee dram with his friends up there and knows that he is not forgotten
[4:13 PM]Varda: toast
[4:13 PM]Arien Valar: toast
[4:14 PM]Eönwë Valar: Image French toast
[4:14 PM]Varda: A toast to all our fathers who have gone before. And my father would have been delighted with that buttered toast!
[4:14 PM]Varda: Thanks, Eonwe. : )
[4:14 PM]Arien Valar: that does look very inviting indeed
[4:14 PM]Eönwë Valar: Looks like French toast. Hope he'd still like it :}
[4:15 PM]Varda: Yes, he would. : )
[4:16 PM]Arien Valar: toast still warm from the toasted and some still warm hard egg slices on it yummy
[4:16 PM]Varda: o yes!
[4:16 PM]Varda: On to more
[4:16 PM]Varda: Web News:
[4:16 PM]Varda: The Valar Guild site is currently down. Pallando is being contacted. Weather might be responsible, or maintenance.
[4:17 PM]Varda: On to
[4:17 PM]Varda: Gaming!
[4:18 PM]Varda: Gaming is what brought us together originally.
[4:19 PM]Varda: In Diablo 1, we needed a group of friendly, legit players with something in common. People who read Tolkien seemed like natural friends on first contact. Thank you, Eru, for starting this. : )
[4:19 PM]Arien Valar: yes , thank you indeed
[4:20 PM]Varda: Diablo 1 had many people who killed and stole from other players, even after they seemed to have played with them in friendly style.
[4:20 PM]Varda: A number of the people who joined us had been about to quit. This revitalized them and others of us who grimly held on, fighting the crazies in our own way to make something good.
[4:21 PM]Varda: Nothing beat what the Valar Guild offered, so we have continued it ever since.
[4:21 PM]Varda: It may not have the urgent need that it started with, but the concept of the natural friendliness from other Tolkien book readers has remained a constant.
[4:22 PM]Varda: Just being able to read a set of tough books with values was enough to make a group. : )
[4:23 PM]Arien Valar: I like the definition *an international gaming community of tolkien enthusiasts that enshrines the values as exposed in the Lord of the rings" or something like that .:
[4:24 PM]Varda: Aye!!
[4:24 PM]Varda: Anyway, since we are supposed to be in Gaming...
[4:24 PM]Varda: StarCraft 2:
[4:24 PM]Varda: Players this past week:
[4:24 PM]Varda: Eowyn-(V), Fangorn-(Valar), Faramir-(init), Sheriff Prince Floppa.

[4:28 PM]Eönwë Valar: The Legacy of Arathor Content Update will be out Tuesday.
[4:29 PM]Eönwë Valar: Here are the update notes.

[4:29 PM]Eönwë Valar: There's a couple of new UI options coming with the update.
[4:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: There's also a new story campaign coming.
[4:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: A new story is out: "Faith & Flame".

[4:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: Check out this week's hotfixes.
[4:32 PM]Eönwë Valar: Hearthstone:

[@Arien Valar
[still working on a dwarf mage for the stasy classsy achievement in the guild
[4:33 PM]Eönwë Valar: Our guild?
[4:34 PM]Arien Valar: Well my guild there
[4:34 PM]Arien Valar: in the cata classic
[4:34 PM]Eönwë Valar: OK, gotcha.
[4:34 PM]Arien Valar: The conspiracy
[4:34 PM]Eönwë Valar: Was gonna say I didn't remember catching you on and didn't remember you having a Dwarf mage on Lothar previously, heh.
[4:36 PM]Varda: How about a free character on Lothar?
[4:36 PM]Eönwë Valar: Anyway, that's it for my gaming news. To catch the adventures of my Ret Pally Main in WoW, and my recent Prot Pally alt (affectionately nicknamed "Nerdy Pally") tune in during the week, heh.
[4:36 PM]Varda: Do they still have a free option on WoW?
[4:36 PM]Varda: Ok : )
[4:36 PM]Eönwë Valar: There is a F2P option up to lvl 20.
[4:36 PM]Arien Valar: i ve got one actually but it s impssible to communicate with anyone other than say and not possible to join a guild .. we tried that
[4:37 PM]Varda: oh. Bah
[4:37 PM]Eönwë Valar: I have a F2P character in the guild who has no trouble inviting my alts in, however, it seems.
[4:37 PM]Varda: Maybe it changed?
[4:38 PM]Eönwë Valar: Maybe because that account actually paid something at some point?
[4:38 PM]Varda: Maybe so.
[4:38 PM]Arien Valar: maybe because it is a european accounrt
[4:39 PM]Varda: Would you have to pay for a free to play US account?
[4:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: She has a US Account anyway from her past characters.
[4:40 PM]Arien Valar: indeed
[4:41 PM]Eönwë Valar: But to answer the question: no, you wouldn't pay just for the account, per se. It's the subscription you pay for.
[4:41 PM]Varda: F2P is how we get around money problems in our main LotRO kins.
[4:41 PM]Arien Valar: i think a worgen warlock and probably a paladin (which would surprise me if not hejhehe as paladidict )
[4:41 PM]Varda: Sounds fun : )
[@Arien Valar
[maybe because it is a european accounrt
[4:42 PM]Eönwë Valar: But yeah, I think we decided when we tried it that this must have something to do with it.
[4:42 PM]Varda: So you can't make a free US account, rats. Good to know. Guess you'll just have to keep hanging out with our LotRO bunch. ; )
[4:42 PM]Eönwë Valar: Arien, were we even able to see each other when we tried that? I think we even went to the same place to try and see each other.
[4:43 PM]Varda: Maybe at least the Valar channel, I think you used?
[4:44 PM]Arien Valar: would not let me make one either
[4:44 PM]Varda: Things change, if you two want to try experimenting again sometime.
[4:44 PM]Varda: ouch
[4:45 PM]Arien Valar: well i met auros a couple of times in the community channel and on discord before i went to work
[4:46 PM]Varda: : )
[4:46 PM]Arien Valar: yeah but it s till a bit of a grief in my eyes that US players and european players can t really game with each other .. gut thats how it is
[4:47 PM]Eönwë Valar: We can join guilds cross server and even cross faction now, but still can't cross that pond.
[4:47 PM]Varda: Seems like sometime back they had a way to cross over. I may remember wrong or it is no longer so.
[4:47 PM]Eönwë Valar: Arien, to remind me: you tried to tie a US WoW account to your European Bnet account?
[4:48 PM]Arien Valar: No .. it lets ypu make a wow starter version on the european account
[4:48 PM]Arien Valar: the free version
[4:49 PM]Arien Valar: butt i am guessing you would have to subscribe again for the us version
[4:50 PM]Eönwë Valar: OK, I'm going to have to look that conversation up because I don't remember what exactly we tested there anymore then.
[4:50 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Mae Govannen
[4:50 PM]Varda: Aiya Shelob : )
[4:51 PM]Arien Valar: Aiya shelob
[4:51 PM]Varda: Any membership or gaming news you'd like to pass along before we change over?
[4:51 PM]Eönwë Valar: I was under the impression you somehow had got to the US servers, but if you were just using a Starter version for Europe I'm not sure how that would've worked.
[4:51 PM]Arien Valar: no its a starter us account
[4:51 PM]Arien Valar: err version i mean
[4:53 PM]Eönwë Valar: OK.
[4:53 PM]Varda: On to
[4:53 PM]Varda: Tolkien!
[4:53 PM]Varda: Who are some fathers we can name from Tolkien's books?
[4:53 PM]Varda: (Easier than finding mother names!)
[4:54 PM]Varda: Iluvatar : )
[4:56 PM]Arien Valar: Elrond
[4:56 PM]Varda: Arathorn (father of Aragorn)
[4:56 PM]Eönwë Valar: Fëanor.
[4:57 PM]Arien Valar: indeed . . he had seven sons
[4:58 PM]Eönwë Valar: Sam, Merry, Pippin. But not Frodo.
[4:58 PM]Arien Valar: and we can name one of them as father as well since his son is knonw .. Celeprimbor
[4:58 PM]Arien Valar: Celebrimbor
[4:59 PM]Arien Valar: Dior
[4:59 PM]Arien Valar: err Beren i mean
[4:59 PM]Eönwë Valar: Dior was a father too.
[5:00 PM]Varda: Maybe we should be mentioning one of those they are father of, too. Might help.
[5:00 PM]Varda: For fun, tossing this one out there: JRRT, father of Christopher Tolkien. 1
[5:00 PM]Eönwë Valar: Sam had too many kids to remember all the names. But one of Sam's married one of Pippin's. Does that count? :}
[5:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: Heh, Goldilocks Gamgee and Faramir Took.
[5:02 PM]Arien Valar: Feanor father of Celebrimbor, Beren father of Dior
[5:02 PM]Eönwë Valar: (remembered one of my stories)
[5:02 PM]Varda: You can see why I just suggest one of the kids.
[5:03 PM]Varda: Elu Thingol, father of Luthien
[5:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: Celebrimbor was Fëanor's Grandson.
[5:03 PM]Arien Valar: Curufin then ..
[5:04 PM]Arien Valar: well it is me then , Eonwe .. i don't do names , remmber :)?
[5:04 PM]Eönwë Valar: hehe
[5:04 PM]Varda: We can help remember as part of the chat. This is not a test. : )
[5:04 PM]Varda: We have reached the hour.
[5:04 PM]Arien Valar: Curufin father of Celebrimbor
[5:05 PM]Varda: gavel sneaks up on the hammerpad as it looks at Google
[5:05 PM]Varda: crack!
[5:05 PM]Eönwë Valar: Interesting tidbit that Celebrimbor let his father be exiled from Nargothrond and didn't go with him. He knew what that man did was wrong, wanted nothing to do with it.
[5:05 PM]Varda: After-meeting!
[5:05 PM]Varda: Aye, Eonwe
[5:05 PM]Eönwë Valar: Considering what Fëanor's sons followed their father into, that says something.
[5:06 PM]Varda: The other brothers added to the peer pressure.
[5:06 PM]Eönwë Valar: True, could've been as much for their brothers as for their father.
[5:07 PM]Varda: Aye
[5:07 PM]Varda: Thranduil, father of Legolas
[5:07 PM]Varda: Gloin, father of Gimli
[5:07 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Oh. Went full ADHD there. Said hi and then got fully distracted.
[5:07 PM]Arien Valar: ah drat .. snap there, varda
[5:07 PM]Varda: It's all the legs and eyes.
[5:08 PM]Varda: From earlier, Arathorn, father of Aragorn
[5:08 PM]Eönwë Valar: Carc, father of Roäc.
[5:08 PM]Varda: hehe, good!
[5:08 PM]Varda: Don't have to be human.
[5:08 PM]Varda: Denethor, father of Boromir
[5:09 PM]Varda: (running Fellowship fathers)
[5:09 PM]Arien Valar: Thengel father of Theoden
[5:09 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Did we get Beorn and whatshisname?
[5:10 PM]Arien Valar: Bard?
[5:10 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Bard did have a son, but no clue what his name was, but certainly not Beorn.
[5:11 PM]Eönwë Valar: Beorn father of Grimbeorn.
[5:11 PM]Varda: Beorn, father of Grimbeorn
[5:11 PM]Arien Valar: grimberon was that the name of Bearns son?
[5:11 PM]Varda: heh, good, Eonwe
[5:11 PM]Eönwë Valar: Bard father of Bain father of Brand.
[5:12 PM]Varda: Bain, son of Bard. Hey, nice, you got two for one!
[5:12 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Are we doing father-son duos of any kind?
[5:12 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Are we allowed mother-daughter duos?
[5:12 PM]Eönwë Valar: It's Father's Day.
[5:12 PM]Varda: This is a father's day thing
[5:12 PM]Eönwë Valar: That's why we're doing this.
[5:13 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): RIP Ungoliant.

[5:13 PM]Varda: ack! : )
[5:21 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): I think we missed a fairly important one.
[5:21 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Glaurung, Father of Dragons.
[5:22 PM]Varda: A clutch
[5:24 PM]Varda: Denethor, father of Boromir
[5:24 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Ooooh. oh oh oh... How about the petty dwarfs and the Pûkel men?
[5:24 PM]Varda: (had started on the Fellowship earlier)
[5:24 PM]Eönwë Valar: Aragorn father of Eldarion and several daughters.
[5:24 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): I'm sure they had named pairs.
[5:25 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Elrond and Arwen?
[5:25 PM]Arien Valar: I have to call it sadly ..Namarie for now
[5:25 PM]Varda: Ok
[5:25 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Turgon and Idril

[5:26 PM]Varda: Ghan-buri-ghan had a couple of sons
[5:27 PM]Eönwë Valar: MIm and his three sons, one of whom died when they were introduced.
[5:27 PM]Varda: Guess that might work for your Pukel men. : )

[5:28 PM]Varda: Theoden, father of Theodred

[5:28 PM]Varda: Ask the Mirkwood boys?
[5:29 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): What was the name of the Dark Elf and his son who were both tossed from the walls of Gondolin?
[5:29 PM]Varda: Eol was the dad, Maeglin the son
[5:30 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): I used to know this stuff when it was still relevant, but then I let myself be suckered in by the Dark Side.
[5:30 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): I blame Sauron. He's just too good a guy.
[5:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: Eol, Maeglin.
[5:31 PM]Eönwë Valar: Anyway, it's time for me to be off. Take care all, good night, sleep well, have fun, and if you haven't voted in the poll yet, it closes tonight so get over there and do it!

[12:05 AM]Eönwë Valar: YouTube - This IS the last minute!> polls
[12:32 AM]Eönwë Valar: The Results Are In! This Year's Anniversary Theme Is "Trees/Forests"
[3:49 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hmm, there's a picture I had vaguely in my mind, and this is one of the topics it could fit for... but maybe I'll think of something else to draw for it.
[3:49 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Anyway, some sleep later, here's...
[3:49 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Personal gaming report:
[3:50 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For (non)flashgaming, when nothing more new or unique comes up for the week, it's hard to resist a bontegames color puzzle game
[3:51 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Kongregate - Blue is one of a series of color-themed games. Color each level blue, using mechanics that are different with each level, and you have to figure out!
[3:51 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: As always, nice and relaxing, so take your time
[3:54 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Blizzard gaming:
[3:56 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone: With the new expansion on the horizon, each level on the reward track is a bonus. Made it to level 110, getting a nice bit of gold.
[3:57 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I already had enough gold for a new class skin, and some new ones (or returning) popped up in the store this week, so I bought the Lady Katrana Prestor set, including her skin for the mage class, and a card back.
[3:59 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I'm sure some of you may remember that something's not quite right with this Stormwind noble... though is she a Stormwind noble exactly? She may be living in Stormwind, but her father had something to do with Lordaeron and Alterac in a past novel.
[4:00 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Anyway, bit of a quiet week, though not as quiet as usual due to the brawl... but in a few days, a pre-expansion quest event is coming up. Not much rest for the wicked!
[4:01 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Brawl is the (return of) Return of Mechazod! Two players with specific decks, one mage and one druid, have to work together to bring down a mecha boss in the middle of the board, buffing spells and minions and hopefully not die to his random behavior.
[4:02 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: You need two players who know how to work together rather than attack each other, who have experience with the decks, and who have a lot of luck, both with the draws and with the abilities the boss uses. It's very easy for him to just upgrade his attack a bunch of times and then just murder both heroes.
[4:04 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: It's definitely one of the most hated brawls according to what I can find on internet discussions, and I can imagine why. So I just tried it once a day (for the free card pack) while doing battlegrounds instead for my 5-win quest. And I was lucky enough to get a win on day 4. But I imagine many people weren't so lucky or just skipped it altogether.
[4:05 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Warcraft Rumble: Collection level 61 reached!
[4:06 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The new Horde Family event is to thank for that, as it came with a new leader, Thrall, a large amount of stars for horde leaders Grom Hellscream and Sneed, and a lesser amount of stars for a bunch of horde minis throughout the reward track.
[4:07 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: There's also some unique battles for the event, which I completed on normal, rather than also pushing for heroic and mythic. It was enough for most of the challenges.
[4:08 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And with all the other horde-based and Thrall-based challenges, most of which I got done through the dungeon and pvp, I've already gotten all the stars - getting Thrall up to rare quality - as well as all the gold and tomes on the track. All that's left now is the rare-i-fier and 4 barrels of arc energy. Should be easy enough with the challenges that are still in progress.
[4:09 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: In the dungeon, Thrall was available as a hero for both the previous alliance week and this current horde week, and I got his progress up to level 17, upgrading his army slots a bunch of times.
[4:11 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Through the tomes, I got my last mini below the 90000k experience track leveled, besides Thrall who has some catching up to do now.
[4:12 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: As for quality upgrades.. those stars on the track gave plenty! I got Thrall to rare quality as mentioned, getting his two best talents, though which one is actually best is a bit uncertain from what I can tell. Totemic mastery is nice for map-wide buffs, but feral spirits are good in direct combat.
[4:13 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I also got the heroes Grom and Sneed and the Horde Grunts mini to epic quality, getting their last talents.
[4:15 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: It's been a productive event! Lots of stuff from it, and almost done with it, even though we're only a quarter of the way through when it comes to duration.
[4:17 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW:
[4:17 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: More raiding, as I got my first heroic Mug'zee kill, and we got pretty close to bringing down Gallywix. If we don't get it soon, the upcoming new belt might do the trick.
[4:19 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Weekly quests are pet battles and battlegrounds, and while I got the pet battles done with my trusty Winter's Helper trio, I still need one more battleground, but that'll come on tuesday I'm sure.
[4:20 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Continuing Delves as I work on getting all of them done on tier 11 in tank role. About halfway now. It's actually easier and possibly faster than it was as dps role, since Brann does a ton of damage now that I don't need him in a healing role, and I have to spend less time worrying about dodging stuff myself.
[4:24 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: In Horrific Visions, I unlocked all 3 remaining masks in my first Orgrimmar run of this reset. Been trying to complete it with more masks as well, succeeding with up to 4 masks so far. There's a couple of fights that give an issue, namely Rexxar and Thrall (there's that guy again!), and maybe I need to switch to guardian for future efforts. But it might also be as easy to just dps Rexxar down more slowly so I can take care of his pets one at a time rather than trying to burst the lot down, which has forced me to use my one resurrection so far.
[4:25 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I also learned that you can use the sanity orbs during combat in this version of the Visions, and while that takes a bit of channeling, might be worth it.
[4:26 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I'm curious to see how many more masks I can get away with, but if there's no expiration on the visions, I might even need the next major patch's gear upgrades to complete it all
[4:27 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And finally in the Dastardly Duos event I completed the quest for week 2, allowing me to buy the second reward from the vendor, the Winner's Podium. You can stand on it to display some stats for the event, apparently with more different stats to be randomly unlocked.
[4:28 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: If each week's quest is just to get a win, it shouldn't be too hard to grab pet and mount in the near future as well.
[4:32 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And that's my report for the week!
[4:34 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie :)
