[1:17 AM]Eönwë Valar: Bah, forgot that shielded attack for Thrall was an insta-kill on 5-mask.
[8:51 AM]Eönwë Valar: I'd say I technically have the firepower to complete a 5-mask, but I don't have the impeccable luck it takes with the mix of madnesses I'm dealing with.
[8:52 AM]Eönwë Valar: Not looking forward to adding Long Night or Daredevil to the mix at all.
[3:59 PM]Varda: Aiya!
[3:59 PM]Varda: Happy June 1st!

[4:14 PM]Varda: This will continue until they can find the underlying cause of a mess in the code somewhere. Maybe all that transfer and housing speedup broke something?
[4:14 PM]Varda: Today is the last day of the LotRO 18th anniversary.
[4:15 PM]Varda: Don't forget to run your characters through for the title Merrymaker and for a big chunk of experience, quite noticeable on the little characters. I had a few level just from that.

[4:16 PM]Varda: Any other gaming news? Membership news?
[4:18 PM]Varda: About the Valar Guild anniversary theme. The poll was tied!
[Note: looking at last year's poll, as this year's was not yet finalized.]
[4:18 PM]Varda: Eucatastrophe, Lights, Drinks for a 3-way tie.
[4:19 PM]Varda: Guess we'll have a 3-way poll next.
[4:19 PM]Varda: I may put in a vote for Lights. cough
[4:19 PM]Arien Valar: Happy birthday to young Reval who turned recently 13 years as a blood elf boy He is an npc that i created ten years ago for role playing as an azure dragon hatchling
[4:19 PM]Varda: Ten years. An anniversary!
[4:20 PM]Arien Valar:
[4:21 PM]Varda: In WoW, a dragon can take other forms, so that works.
[4:22 PM]Arien Valar: aye of course its a secret that no one is supposed know , so it is what u call it classified information
[4:22 PM]Varda: puts a veil of fog around the chat
[4:22 PM]Arien Valar: heheh
[4:23 PM]Varda: Does Reval know?
[4:23 PM]Varda: Some bully may get a shock.
[4:24 PM]Arien Valar: yeah , he kknows because he transforms in panic reaction or used to .. but Sulnar keeps an eye and check on him and helpps himwith some stuff
[4:24 PM]Varda: O good.
[4:24 PM]Varda: On to
[4:24 PM]Varda: Tolkien!
[4:25 PM]Varda: urge to talk Tolkien dragons, but not this night, when so many are not present to enjoy
[4:25 PM]Varda: Those three topics up for the Anniversary: let's take a look at them right quick. 4:26 PM]Varda: Eucatastrophe: a sudden, usually unexpected turn for the better. Opposite of catastrophe.
[4:26 PM]Varda: Since that's an invention of JRRT's, it is especially special for a Tolkien topic.
[4:27 PM]Varda: Lights: so many bits about light in the stories. Ungoliant found it solid enough to eat and re-spin into Unlight.
[4:27 PM]Varda: The various sources of light were not that many.
[4:28 PM]Varda: At first, it was the light of the Two Trees.
[4:29 PM]Varda: That light was collected into the Vats of Varda from which most other storied light came.
[4:29 PM]Varda: Stars, constellations. The Lamps
[4:30 PM]Varda: But some light came from the forms of the Valar.
[4:30 PM]Varda: Some from fire.
[4:30 PM]Varda: The last topic is "drinks".
[4:30 PM]Arien Valar: clears throat
[4:30 PM]Varda: Come on, Fire Maia, say something. : )
[4:31 PM]Arien Valar: hehe yes you dont mean me by fire from the Valar or light of fire halo ?
[4:32 PM]Varda: I was thinking of the books, heh.
[4:32 PM]Varda: Arien was a fire being.
[4:32 PM]Varda: The Balrogs had that too, but not the same.
[4:33 PM]Varda: I need to look that up again, about Arien. You might know off the top of your head.
[4:34 PM]Varda: Big on the golden flowers, so it was natural to take one of those and drive it as the Sun.
[4:35 PM]Arien Valar: Arien didnt mind walking in the heat as fire being so it was natural that she looked after the sun tree
[4:37 PM]Arien Valar: and as carer of the sun tree it was also clear that she steared the boat of the new sun
[4:38 PM]Varda: The last fruit of the Tree.
[4:38 PM]Arien Valar: aye
[4:41 PM]Arien Valar: The Balrogs , Maiar of Fire yes but imbued also with ths shadow from Mordor
[4:42 PM]Arien Valar: remember how Gandalf adressed the Balrog? Flame of Udun, if i remember right
[4:42 PM]Varda: Aye, not the same as Arien, with the real purity of fire.
[4:42 PM]Varda: True, he did.
[4:43 PM]Arien Valar: and he was described as a creature of shadow and flame
[4:45 PM]Arien Valar: Tolkien Gateway - Category: Images of Durin's Bane
[4:45 PM]Varda: heh
[4:45 PM]Varda: The Balrog's appearance is a matter of much controversy.
[4:46 PM]Arien Valar: sorry didnt find a better picture that quick
[4:46 PM]Arien Valar: but i also like his graphic in lotro
[4:47 PM]Varda: Artistically, the wings are great to add to any character. : )
[4:47 PM]Arien Valar: that shows the shadow and flame quite good
[4:47 PM]Varda: At one time, they apparently could fly and attacked Tilion, who drove them off.
[4:47 PM]Varda: Over time, evil meant that evil beings lost the ability to fly.
[4:48 PM]Varda: But those Maiar of Manwe and Varda still could.
[4:48 PM]Arien Valar: oh well .. at least that boy was useful for something ... murmur
[4:48 PM]Varda: This suggests Arien might have been able to fly. Maybe leave the sunship's surface.
[4:48 PM]Varda: hehehehe
[4:49 PM]Varda: Ok, I need to let you get some sleep before work tomorrow. : )
[4:49 PM]Varda: the gavel flares up with an alcohol coating set on fire
[4:49 PM]Varda: the hammerpad flees until the alcohol burns off, then
[4:49 PM]Varda: thonk!
[4:49 PM]Varda: After-meeting!
[4:50 PM]Varda: Metal gavel. : )
[4:50 PM]Arien Valar: Namarie
[4:50 PM]Arien Valar: very nice gavel nod
[4:50 PM]Varda: Rest well! We await the return of the Sun!
[4:50 PM]Varda: hehe
[4:53 PM]Varda: Hmm, the newer version doesn't seem to be properly hooked up the css yet. Bad me.
[4:53 PM]Varda: Article on Arien
[4:54 PM]Varda: 1998 That was a minute or two ago.
[4:55 PM]Varda: In those images you showed, this one really shows the idea of shadow or smoke wings:
[4:54 PM]Varda: Giancola - Bridge of Khazad-dum
[5:06 PM]Eönwë Valar: Heya all. Sorry I'm late.
[5:09 PM]Eönwë Valar: I think there's some confusion about the Anniversary themes. That poll that seems to be getting mentioned is for Last Year's.
[5:10 PM]Eönwë Valar: However, It now being June 1st, we've collected the suggestions for this year, and I intend to make the poll for voting available later tonight.
[5:13 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Mae Govannen!
[5:17 PM]Varda: ah, thanks Eonwe.
[5:17 PM]Varda: Aiya Shelob : )
[5:18 PM]Varda: Oh, Mosby's tabletop game went to Monday. Cut us out with that timing, unfortunately, but he has plenty of players so no problem.
[5:20 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Yay. I think?
[5:20 PM]Varda: Depends on point of view. : )
[5:20 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Oh, part 11 of my LotRO series went live last week.
[5:21 PM]Varda: Congratulations!
[5:21 PM]Varda: Would you like to link it here?
[5:22 PM]Varda: Yep, that anniv poll said 2024 and doesn't show the final winner there. I should learn to read.
[5:23 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Part 11: YouTube - Elayne Trakand Gaming - E11 Exploring Angmar - Deep dive into the lore of Lord of the Rings
[5:25 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Full playlist: YouTube - Lord of the Rings deep dive into the Lore - Lord of the Rings Online
[5:26 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): I'm hoping to do a long stream tomorrow, finish up Angmar and perhaps even get my first steps into Moria.

[Yep, that anniv poll said 2024 and doesn't show the final winner there. I should learn to read.
[5:38 PM]Eönwë Valar: Actually it seems you do see the winner because it was a three-way tie.
[5:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: Anyway, I must depart. Take care all, good night, sleep well, and have fun. Don't miss your chance to vote for this year's theme when the poll goes up later tonight.
[6:13 PM]Xavier: Hi everyone
[1 Emote for waving hi from Spidey]
[7:31 PM]Sandalf13: I am heading to a peaceful protest against the events that occured in Boulder, CO earlier this afternoon.
[8:19 PM]Varda: Thanks, Shelob.
[8:19 PM]Varda: Namarie Eonwe
[8:19 PM]Varda: Hiya Xavier : )
[8:20 PM]Varda: What happened in Boulder, CO?
[8:20 PM]Varda: Be careful, Sandalf
[8:22 PM]Varda: oh, that's horrible.
[9:00 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Eesh, 3 years for DI already? And still can't play it over here
[9:06 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: also, Aiya
[9:51 PM]Varda: Aiya and good night : )
[9:51 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie
[9:52 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Guess you'll see gaming report tomorrow!
[June 2, 2025
[12:25 AM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, the Poll to decide the Anniversary Theme is now posted. It's a two week poll. Whatever theme has the highest tally of votes when it expires is this year's theme.
[12:28 AM]Eönwë Valar: I went over the last 10 years of themes to be sure none of the suggestions were too close to something we've already done in the last decade. I did go ahead and allow both "Trees and Forests" and "Flora" as separate options even though they're close (one would be a subset of the other) simply to give the most options possible.
[12:28 AM]Eönwë Valar: Only one vote allowed, so pick the theme you like the most.
[12:29 AM]Eönwë Valar: That gives our creative types three and a half months before the Anniversary to work on any theme-related contributions they may want to make.
[4:59 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Sleep, such a fickle thing... can set my alarm for an hour or 2 and wake up 5 hours later.
[4:59 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Personal gaming report:
[5:00 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For (non)flashgaming, here's Kongregate - Red
[5:01 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Been a while since I linked a bontegames color puzzle game, but they're always fun when they come up as a badge in the week
[5:01 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: In this one, turn the screen red in 25 levels, using different mechanics in each level, which you have to figure out by trial and error!
[5:02 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: No timer, no lives, nice music, just casual puzzling. And there's more colors to find in the other games list if you want!
[5:04 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Blizzard gaming:
[5:09 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone: Level 94 on the reward track now. At this rate I should get 100 this week, or just short of it. That's ok though, I don't think the next expansion has been announced yet!
[5:10 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Quest event is done, Amirdrassil is saved from the fire Third quest to summon and destroy 500 minions went well enough, as I got most through normal gameplay, though I also set up a specific demon warlock deck since demons count double. Not as grindy as I'd feared!
[5:10 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And we got Ardenweald Huln as a hunter skin as a reward.
[5:10 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And along the way, Death Knight class finally to 60, the max level! That took a few years I think
[5:12 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Now I'll go back to whichever class has the least wins, on the way to get them all to 500 wins for gold versions of their default skins and skills. Which apparently is still the death knight at about 380, despite a higher winrate while leveling him than most other classes. Though to be fair he's only like 5 wins behind the rogue, who I've played for a lot longer
[5:13 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Maybe it's time for a new class, monk should be next?
[5:14 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And the brawl is Nozdormu at the End of Time, where the only different mechanic, basically, is that you have 12 seconds to make your turn.
[5:16 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Which I like! I generally make my turns quickly compared to most people I face anyway. So I just decided to let the game generate a deck for me, which are generally free of heavy combinations to play, and see how far I'd get. And the winrate was decent enough
[5:17 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Warcraft Rumble: Slow week on the levels, so no new collection level.
[5:17 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Log-in event still going, we're getting into the good rewards now.
[5:19 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: With dungeons having hit their ceiling now, I've decided to dabble in the sieges as well, which, while 2-player, are now puggable with random people.
[5:20 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The levels in there are capped, but at the cap level it's still pretty doable, on normal at least, where I got all 3 bosses cleared. And after that, the first boss on heroic, though second boss was a failure. I'll probably need a specific deck for that, or someone from my wow guild to communicate with.
[5:20 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: But that's ok, since the first boss is where it's at, when it comes to gathering valor to update army slots from gold to diamond, getting an extra level on each minion.
[5:22 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I used my first one on Tirion, my first leader and main alliance leader, which seemed a good place to start, also with the heroic sigils campaign in mind. Which means I should probably put my next bunch in leaders of the other families.
[5:23 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The first heroic clear of the first boss gives a golden skin for your footmen. The others in heroic also give golden skins for certain minis, but they can wait. Future heroic clears of the first boss will also give valor, so that'll be 2 diamond slots per siege week.
[5:23 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: It'll take a while to get em all slotted up, so maybe I should have started sooner... but it's good to have something to work toward, anyway
[5:29 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Raids apparently also give valor, so I'll be trying out the normal Molten Core raid as well.
[5:32 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And in the heroic sigil campaign, I finally got the first boss of the Plaguelands with alliance, though I needed to use a custom deck I found on the internet for it, as well as temporarily replace an army slot modifier to fit the deck in there without losing levels. But I get more than enough arc energy from the dungeons to afford that for a campaign win.
[5:32 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Might need to do the same for horde, as well.
[5:34 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: No quality upgrades this week, as I'm focusing on the minis with the least stars whenever I'm over 3000 gold, though I do take deals that come with more stars or bonus experience as they occasionally pop up in the grid. Every bit helps, and 5000 xp is still a significant boost for any mini
[5:34 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW:
[5:35 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Raiding going well, got my first kill on the sixth boss on heroic. Seventh needs some work still, though my group has killed it without me at some point when I was unavailable, so it's doable
[5:36 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got the first bonus quest for currency done as well, and used it to buy the heroic Best-In-Slots, my best weapon, after the Bandit did not drop one. Should be my biggest upgrade!
[5:37 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Also got my fourth heroic tier piece. Still quite a few things to get heroic versions of, but I'm at a decent enough ilevel now.
[5:40 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: My Gallagio renown was put back up to 12, reaching 13 through the raid, which allowed me to get 2 quests for upgrades to the damage/shielding buff, though I didn't get the initial 6% back. So now it's 6% when it should be 12%. Unless Blizzard fixes that again, I'll permanently be 6% behind, which hurts, but since we're not going for mythic difficulty, it should be survivable.
[5:41 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And at least it saves me having to go back to LFR for this raid.
[5:41 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Weekly quests this week are world quests and skirmishes. Haven't finished skirmishes yet, though well underway, and I got enough conquest for my second pvp trinket along the way. Should help a bit!
[5:42 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Still working on Delves! Got the achievements for doing all delves on 4 or higher and 8 or higher, by completing a few on tier 11 that I hadn't done at all this season.
[5:43 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: That just left a few delves I had been doing at 8 or above but not 11 yet, and I've worked on those too; only one delve now remains to get the achievement for all delves on tier 11.
[5:44 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Along the way, got Brann from level 72 to level 77, including the use of another big wheel of cheese.
[5:44 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I wonder if I'll get him to 80 this week!
[5:45 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And I got another pet from the delves, the kobyss delves to be precise, which is Wriggle! Mentioned him in this channel earlier in the week in a LotR context
[5:47 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And finally, horrific visions! Didn't get the lost zones in Stormwind yet, but in the first Orgrimmar week I got enough currency to bump my damage and my sanity loss reduction 2 more slots, and managed to clear all 5 zones in one run with plenty of time remaining. I could move to my first mask, or wait for the next upgrade tier. Not sure yet.
[5:47 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The tribute buffs are coming along nicely as well, reaching tier 2 on some of them.
[5:48 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Also got 2 new pets from the visions: a Void-Scarred Parrot from Stormwind, and a Void-Scarred Scorpid from Orgrimmar.
[5:49 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: They're basically just purple versions of the basic pet models, but still nice to collect
[5:49 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And that's my report for the week!
[5:49 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie
[@Ar-Pharazon-V

[2:14 AM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Episode 12 is out
[The Angmar Arc is taking a lot longer than I had expected.
[ @Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob)
[Episode 12 is out. The Angmar Arc is taking a lot longer than I had expected.
[2:23 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: eyes forum RP you don't say...
[3:54 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): Hahahaha. Well... let's just say that my character died an honorable death under an avalanche of dust.
[3:56 PM]Spidey (Ungwetari/Shelob): For anyone interested... I will be streaming the conclusion of the Angmar Arc tomorrow, and depending on how much time it'll take me to get to Moria, I might even do the entirety of the Moria Main Quest, including some exploration of the beautiful vistas. I intend to start at 7 AM EST.
Thus ends this week's meeting. Come back and see us next week!
[4:57 PM]Eönwë Valar: Well, it's Tuesday, so that means it's time to see if my main gets his last Hero item from the vault, and if Nerdy Pally gets another trinket, or a real upgrade.
[4:57 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: good luck
[4:58 PM]Eönwë Valar: Thanks :}
[5:00 PM]Eönwë Valar: Well, no upgrade for Auros, so I'll take this week to get the runed crests instead for an extra upgrade to his gear that'll hopefully put him within range of a 6-or-7 mask HVR :}
[5:02 PM]Eönwë Valar: BC timewalking might be worth a try to get his final hero item this week.
[5:02 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Will it give heroic?
[5:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: The raid quest will
[5:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: Unless they nerfed it since the last season.
[5:04 PM]Eönwë Valar: Now I need to check, heh.
[5:04 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Ah, fair enough
[5:05 PM]Eönwë Valar: Looks like 2 weeks to Turbocharged Delves.
[5:05 PM]Eönwë Valar: Guess I have until then to get to 8-masks :}
[5:07 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Busy little bee!
[5:09 PM]Eönwë Valar: And the Dastardly Duos offers a turtle mount. Something gonna have to give here, heh. Guess I'll see if I even have fun with them. If I don't, not gonna push it.
[5:10 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Mount, pet, toys... I think I'll just focus on the weekly quest for that one, should be enough.
[5:12 PM]Eönwë Valar: And I gotta run my Jewelcrafter through a HVR so he can make me the jewelcrafter mount.
[5:14 PM]Eönwë Valar: Got my hourglass maxed out now, so we'll see how that does to help me get through. Oh, and I guess If I manage a 5-mask, that should give me a chance at a hero item too.
[5:15 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hmm, still gotta wait for tomorrow to unlock my last tier
[5:15 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: That last sanity loss should really help.
[5:15 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Basically cutting what remains in half.
[5:16 PM]Eönwë Valar: Yeah, plus the free revive ought to help if I don't use it before the final boss, heh.
[5:16 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: hehe
[5:17 PM]Eönwë Valar: I've heard the Soridormi follower is a detriment because it boosts enemies like another player, but so far as I can tell it doesn't reduce the buffs that having another player would reduce.
[5:18 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Well, that's something at least.
[5:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: Aye.
[5:26 PM]Eönwë Valar: Nerdy Pally got hero tier gloves. Think she might be my second-best geared character behind my main now, heh.
[5:28 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Yay
[5:28 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got my weapon from the coin quest thing, so I'm hoping it doesn't show up in the vault tomorrow... would rather like it to be heroic shoulders instead!
[5:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: hehe, good luck!
[5:30 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Thanks
[5:31 PM]Eönwë Valar: I'm stuck between either getting a ring or getting a trinket next. Ring would replace Circe's but not sure if that would be an upgrade. Apparently the proc on it only works in groups, which makes it useless to me.
[Note: Lots more WoW chat for the time between meetings.
