Valar Guild Meeting Minutes

Sunday, April 27, 2025

5:00pm Eastern Time

Discord: Valar Guild/meeting_place

Before-Meeting

[April 21, 2025

[7:43 PM]Eönwë Valar: If they expect the Khaz'Algar Noblegarden area to be competitive, eggs are going to have to spawn closer and more often.

[7:44 PM]Eönwë Valar: The fact no one but me is here shows how inefficient trying to farm this area is. April 22, 2025

[3:42 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Kharanos has always been my go-to for the eggs. Nice and secluded, with eggs in obvious spots.

[April 23, 2025

[4:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: Either I'm getting lucky with the eggs or they changed the way they're spawned/looted for the better. I'm hoping the latter.

[5:14 PM]Eönwë Valar: wOW.

[5:14 PM]Eönwë Valar: I died on a flight path.

[5:14 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Well done What got you?

[5:15 PM]Eönwë Valar: Apparently a Dark-Crazed Harvester.

[5:15 PM]Eönwë Valar: Guess who's now filing a bug report.

[5:16 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Probably the harvester!

[5:16 PM]Eönwë Valar: hehe

[5:19 PM]Eönwë Valar: If they want to give me a Feat of Strength for what should be the impossible, then hey great. Otherwise, very annoying.

[5:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: OMG, and it's going to make me fly all the way back for my corpse.

[5:21 PM]Eönwë Valar: Crazy

[5:21 PM]Eönwë Valar: I would've thought PTR would've caught something like this.

[5:21 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Maybe you're the first!

[5:22 PM]Eönwë Valar: I'm screenshotting my corpse in mid-air.

[5:22 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: We all float up here...

[5:23 PM]Eönwë Valar: If I can... Windows 11 apparently doesn't know how to just take a dang screenshot.

[5:25 PM]Eönwë Valar: Bah, gotta hold the windows key to take a simple screenshot, and hitting the print screen button by itself drags up a bunch of snipping junk. Talk about backwards.

[5:25 PM]Eönwë Valar: Just when I think I've passed all the stuff Windows 11 can do to annoy me, heh.

[5:25 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: aw

[5:26 PM]Eönwë Valar: Um, and the screenshot doesn't even do what I want it to do.

[5:29 PM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, think I got it, just Windows 11 getting in the way.

[5:32 PM]Eönwë Valar: Screenshot now in the Screenshot channel.

[5:33 PM]Eönwë Valar: Now to resurrect mid-air, plummet to my death, and hope I hit my Divine Shield in time.

[5:33 PM]Eönwë Valar: Nailed it.

[5:33 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V:

[5:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: So I guess no going to Hallowfall at peak hours.

[5:40 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: At least not by flightpath

[5:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: hehe, well it was pretty laggy there too.

[April 24, 2025

[9:15 PM]Eönwë Valar: Boo, gotta wait till May 13th for this.

[9:17 PM]Eönwë Valar: Although, If I'm reading that right, For the raid gear vendor, I could purchase Hero gear if I've run all the bosses on LFR. There has to be a catch.

[April 25, 2025

[3:23 AM]Eönwë Valar: I do like that the Arathi Crusader's Armor has Argent Dawn/Argent Crusade coloration. Might have to set that as a transmog outfit.

[3:24 AM]Eönwë Valar: If I had room for a prot set it might've been fun to use it as that.

[3:25 AM]Eönwë Valar: Although I'm quite annoyed at yet another item to clog my bags: Radiant Emblem of Service. If it were Warbound it'd be tolerable.

[3:42 AM]Eönwë Valar: They need to put at least a small sale price on these blossoming branches. No point in keeping them and no chance to use them.

[7:41 AM]Eönwë Valar: Note to self: don't convert any more crests for 3 weeks, heh. Eönwë Valar Although, If I'm reading that right, For the raid gear vendor, I could purchase Hero gear if I've run all the bosses on LFR. There has to be a catch.

[10:02 AM]Eönwë Valar: Looks like the catch is you only get enough to have 3 of the items max.

[ Eönwë Valar started a thread: Anniversary Themes 2025. See all threads. — 4/25/2025 8:27 PM Thread Anniversary Themes 2025 8 Messages › Eönwë Valar Redemption 1d ago

[8:33 PM]Eönwë Valar: OK ladies and gents. I've created a thread here, which hopefully you all see, to collect ideas for this year's anniversary themes. Please put any suggestions in there. It'll be kept open until May 31st. From there we'll organize and narrow them down. My goal is that by July 1st we have a theme to start working with.

[9:57 PM]Eönwë Valar: If anyone doesn't see it, say something so we can figure out why.

[10:44 PM]Varda: It's like a thread spool at the top.

[11:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: Aye, that gives you the list of threads, and you can select the one for the Anniversary themes from there.

[April 26, 2025

[12:06 AM]Eönwë Valar: I was excited for half a second when I got a quest in a T11 delve to get 15 more gilded crests... then I remembered they expect me to want to go into a Mythic dungeon. heh.

[12:13 AM]Eönwë Valar: It's almost like Blizzard doesn't know the audience for Delves.

[12:15 AM]Eönwë Valar: Which is funny because it'd looked like they'd mostly figured it out with Season 2 :}

[12:31 AM]Eönwë Valar: Do'h should've thought to complete some of these raid achievements during MoP Remix, heh.

[1:19 AM]Eönwë Valar: Arg, another evade bug with a nemesis pack.

[1:21 AM]Eönwë Valar: Stuck in combat and only way to clear it is to die.

[1:40 AM]Eönwë Valar: Now my Brann is lvl 80.

[3:07 AM]Eönwë Valar: Hmm, both good and bad, looks like eggs spawn faster with more people hunting. Would be better if it were a flat faster spawn time so even low-pop hunting times would go fast.

[2:27 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Grats on 80 🙂 And I also noticed that another player taking a specific egg does not remove it for me, so either we each have our own spawns, or it stays for a short while after looting.

[2:28 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: So a faster spawn would more people would be more good than bad 🙂

[2:28 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: *with

[2:28 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Also, Calaron is 20 years old today, as the first character on my account! World of Warcraft - Calaron (Argent Dawn) ❮The High Guard❯ - 80 Night Elf {spec} {class}, {0} ilvl

[7:36 PM]Eönwë Valar:

[Image of a birthday cake with firework candles.]

[10:18 PM]Eönwë Valar: My first two would've been 20 in November of last year. Made them within hours of each other, and days of Launch.

[11:24 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Twins? 🙂

[11:33 PM]Eönwë Valar: One a Night Elf, the other a Human, so not quite :}

[4:00 PM]Sandalf13: Aiya All! And a good Sunday afternoon to you.

[4:01 PM]Arien Valar: Aiya Sandalf 🙂

[4:01 PM]Sandalf13: Aiya Arien!

[4:01 PM]Arien Valar: I see you are on time today 😄

[4:01 PM]Sandalf13: For a change.

[4:01 PM]Arien Valar: indeed

[4:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: Heya. Need to be afk for a couple more minutes.

[4:02 PM]Sandalf13: Things get so busy on a Sunday once SPring starts...gardening, cleaning up the yard, spending more time outside than I have all winter (other than skiing, of course).

[4:02 PM]Arien Valar: Aiya Eonwe 🙂

[4:02 PM]Sandalf13: Aiya Eonwe.

[4:02 PM]Arien Valar: thats no problem

[4:03 PM]Arien Valar: what plants are you growing , Sandalf?

[4:04 PM]Sandalf13: It is too early to put veggies in the planting beds...it could freeze here through the end of May. Usually I plant veggies starting in mid-May, around Mother's day..but the annual plants are a bit more hardy, so I am planting some violas, petunias, marigolds, columbines, various bulbs, and some other flowers in my front yard flower pots and beds...

[4:05 PM]Arien Valar: nice

[4:05 PM]Sandalf13: Do you do any gardening in Scotland?

[4:06 PM]Arien Valar: a lot of people do , but we don 't reakkt m we don't have the time to do that seriously to be using that in our houshold

[4:07 PM]Arien Valar: we do have daffodils in our garden , that were planted by earlier inhabitants

[4:07 PM]Sandalf13: Are they up yet?

[4:07 PM]Arien Valar: and some trees and brambles that grow over from neighbours

[4:07 PM]Arien Valar: oh yeah , they have been out for a while

[4:08 PM]Arien Valar: we had a warm period just before Easter

[4:08 PM]Sandalf13: Ah. Sounds very pleasant. I know the further north you go in Scotland, the more rugged the weather can be...

[4:09 PM]Sandalf13: Sort of like here, I suspect. Even in Lincoln, there have been a few years when a big snowstorm at the end of April would be on the ground all the way into mid-May...of course, it can snow in the mountains through the entire summer.

[4:11 PM]Arien Valar: well they talk of the "lambing snow" here which is usually at the end of March to mid April ... well, the hills had a bit snow

[4:11 PM]Arien Valar: and it is lambing time here on Skye or the first wave is over

[4:11 PM]Sandalf13: Ah. Lucky lambs...at least they get to enjoy the summer early in their lives!

[4:12 PM]Arien Valar: yeah if they get the chance ^^

[4:12 PM]Sandalf13: I know what you mean.

[4:12 PM]Sandalf13: Do you know if Varda is around today?

[4:13 PM]Arien Valar: well i think she is occupied with some insurance business but not sure where that is

[4:13 PM]Arien Valar: we had a n email she wont make it today

[4:14 PM]Sandalf13: Ah. It might be a quiet meeting today...just as well. I never received an Email, but I am not on her gaming list, either.

[4:14 PM]Sandalf13: I need to leave early for a meeting of my own...but will return for Ar's report...if he shows up too.

[4:14 PM]Arien Valar: nah its just for the officers so one of us can take the gavel

[4:15 PM]Arien Valar: but we havent started officially yet although we sort of covered informal Member news

[4:15 PM]Sandalf13: Informal is good too.

[4:16 PM]Sandalf13: I found a really good Youtube video about Aragorn BEFORE the LoTR. Here is the link, if you are interested:

[4:16 PM]Sandalf13: YouTube - Realms Unravelled - Becoming Strider: Aragorn Before the Lord of the Rings

[4:17 PM]Sandalf13: Realms unravelled has some pretty good quality videos, in my opinion. Perhaps you have come across them already, and I am just reporting old news.

[4:17 PM]Sandalf13: The announcer sounds English, also...unless my ears deceive me.

[4:18 PM]Arien Valar: lets hear him

[4:18 PM]Sandalf13: Give it a whirl!

[4:18 PM]Eönwë Valar: OK, my apologies. Let's get this meeting rolling. It's gonna be a quick one.

[4:18 PM]Sandalf13: Quick is good today.

[4:18 PM]Eönwë Valar: @Bounder Meeting time!

Meeting Begins

[4:18 PM]Eönwë Valar: Elen Sila Lumenn Omentielvvo!

Membership

[4:18 PM]Eönwë Valar: Membership::

[4:19 PM]Eönwë Valar: For the roll, everyone here say "Valinor".

[4:19 PM]Sandalf13: Valinor

[4:19 PM]Arien Valar: Valinor

[4:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: I have Eonwë, Sandalf, and Arien.

[4:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: Varda is out as Arien said, dealing with that pesky life beyond the keyboard.

[4:20 PM]Sandalf13: Yes, Fearless Leader.

[4:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: Any other membership news?

[4:21 PM]Eönwë Valar: Actually, I'll go ahead and throw this in Membership news:

[4:21 PM]Eönwë Valar: If you haven't already seen it, we have a thread running in this channel for Anniversary themes.

[4:22 PM]Eönwë Valar: You can see it two places:

[4:22 PM]Eönwë Valar: 1.) At the top of the window, look for the icon that looks like a spool of thread, click on that, and select "Anniversary Themes 2025".

[4:23 PM]Eönwë Valar: 2.) On the left side in the channel list, you should see under "meeting_place" the thread named "Anniversary Themes 2025"

[4:23 PM]Eönwë Valar: We'll be taking suggestions through May 31st.

[4:23 PM]Sandalf13: I just suggested.

[4:24 PM]Eönwë Valar: From June 1st through June 30th, we'll run a poll (or series if necessary) to determine this year's Anniversary theme.

[4:25 PM]Eönwë Valar: On July 1st, we will have the Anniversary theme determined so that members who want to contribute stories, art, poetry, etc. have 4 months (including the full Anniversary month) to work on it.

[4:27 PM]Eönwë Valar: And thank you to Sandalf for making a suggestion :}

[4:27 PM]Eönwë Valar: If someone is having trouble finding the thread speak up and those of us who see it can try to help.

[4:28 PM]Eönwë Valar: If there's no other Member news, then on to...

Web

[4:28 PM]Eönwë Valar: Web:

[4:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: Varda's been keeping up with the transcript despite being out of town. Thank you very much to Varda :}

Gaming

[4:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: Gaming:

EVE Online:

[4:32 PM]Eönwë Valar: Pallando gave us a side-report on Eve. He couldn't stick around because he's on the way to the airport. He says: 1.) Eve fanfest this week, so should be plenty to report at next week's meeting.

[4:32 PM]Eönwë Valar: 2.) "In the meantime the Drifter event continues, with everyone reasserting control over their systems after the patch Tuesday that changed influence gain/loss. The Caldari and Minmatar ( ) lag behind, but are both trending positively. Minmatar will likely hit 100% within a week, and Caldari might manage it by the end of the event. The text indicates we only need to be above 30% to win, which everyone was as of the last time I looked about 90 minutes ago."

[4:33 PM]Eönwë Valar: Thanks for the report to Pallando and enjoy the flight :}

World of Warcraft:

[4:34 PM]Eönwë Valar: World of Warcraft: This week's bonus event: Legion Timewalking and Pet Battles. This week's PvP Brawl: Gravity Lapse.

[4:34 PM]Eönwë Valar: Update 11.1.5 is live, including the Nightfall event.

[4:36 PM]Eönwë Valar: The Nightfall event does seem a bit buggy right now, though. Objectives don't seem to be spawning right, and some of you may have caught my mention of dying while flying out of the area on a taxi, which should mean I'm safe.

[4:37 PM]Eönwë Valar: Be careful in Hallowfall during peak hours.

[4:37 PM]Eönwë Valar: The Winds of Mysterious Fortune Event is going through May 20th.

[4:37 PM]Eönwë Valar: Real nice for lower lvl characters, but the 70-80 grind still is pretty slow IMO.

[4:38 PM]Eönwë Valar: Got my Mariposa (Butterfly Huntress, you've seen the pics) from 47 - 60 in a pretty short time.

[4:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: Coming May 13th: Season 2 Turbo Boost.

[4:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: A shame we have to wait 2 more weeks :}

[4:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: There's also a new housing blog.

[4:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: Check out WoW Weekly for anything not mentioned above.

[4:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: Check out this week's hotfixes.

Hearthstone:

[4:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: Hearthstone: Out this week: Patch 32.2.

Warcraft Rumble:

[4:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: Warcraft Rumble::

[4:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: Check out Season 14.

[4:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: Molten Core is available.

Diablo IV:

[4:41 PM]Eönwë Valar: Check out the recent livestream.

[4:41 PM]Eönwë Valar: The next patch is coming April 29th.

[4:41 PM]Eönwë Valar: A crossover with Berserk is coming May 6th.

[4:42 PM]Eönwë Valar: If anyone doesn't know what Berserk is, it's a very dark, decidedly not suitable for children manga. Be advised thereby before delving into it.

[4:44 PM]Arien Valar: Diablo iis something i would not recommend for children or easily scared people anyway

[4:44 PM]Eönwë Valar: Berserk is worse.

Diablo Immortal:

[4:44 PM]Eönwë Valar: Diablo Immortal: Berserk is crossing over here too.

[4:45 PM]Eönwë Valar: But aye, the Diablo series is rated M by the ESRB, so it's not for children either.

[4:46 PM]Sandalf13: I wonder what kind of parental controls exist, if any...kids are so tech savvy today, I suppose they could get onto any game or site if they really wanted to...or am I mistaken?

[4:47 PM]Eönwë Valar: The official Diablo sites do an age check, but it's not really infallible, it's just "tell us your age."

[4:47 PM]Eönwë Valar: More like "You're claiming to be this old, so from here on it's not on us." Which is about as much as they can do imo.

[4:48 PM]Sandalf13: Ah. I suppose that an enthusiastic youngster could get around that pretty easily.

[4:48 PM]Eönwë Valar: My position is as follows:

[4:49 PM]Arien Valar: I really think that it is probably up to the parents to be aware of what their kids are playing at home .. at friends places or youth clubs they don t have that chance .. its up to other parents or staff members to keep an eye on that

[4:49 PM]Eönwë Valar: It's 2025. Every one young enough to be a parent at this point grew up with video games and the ESRB. Unless you grew up Amish, or in a similarly tech-limited situation, there is absolutely no excuse not to understand that not all games are for kids.

[4:49 PM]Arien Valar: but witth mobile phones as gaming devices that as well is quite difficult ...

[4:51 PM]Sandalf13: That is what scares me most about the world today. Perhaps it was easier to shield children from "difficult" things a bit easier forty or fifty years ago...or longer. I think that raising children today is problematic, and i fear that it is only going to get worse.

[4:51 PM]Eönwë Valar: My generation grew up with Mortal Kombat as the big one that busybodies complained about. No, it's not for kids. Don't buy your 5-year old Mortal Kombat. Don't buy your 5-year old Diablo 4. Don't buy your 5-year old World of Warcraft. (And WoW is rated Teen)

[4:52 PM]Sandalf13: Yes...but maybe their friends have it, or their friend's older siblings have it...

[4:52 PM]Arien Valar: uh .. i bought wow first ..=err 19 years ago

[4:52 PM]Sandalf13: It is just tought to be a parent todah, I think...

[4:54 PM]Eönwë Valar: Sandalf, that was the case about many... extracurricular topics... in the past too. It comes to parenting and being involved in your child's life so that even if they do get some exposure to it, they can deal with it in as mature a manner as can be done at that age, or if necessary in some instances, end the association.

[4:55 PM]Sandalf13: That sounds good...I just hope that parents today are taking the time and energy to do just that.

[4:55 PM]Eönwë Valar: But yes, the prevalence of tech does make it more difficult, which is why I say being an involved parent is important.

[4:56 PM]Eönwë Valar: Not downplaying the difficulty, just stressing the importance of being an involved parent.

[4:57 PM]Sandalf13: No question that you are right...but as a parent I have learned that at some point you begin to realie that your children are their own people...little adults, if you will. We can give them guidance, and try to help them make good decisions, but the whole process of growing up is teaching your kids and gradually releasing the to the larger world out there. I do not disagree with you at all, but I do think it is harder today than it was when I was a child.

[4:58 PM]Arien Valar: Certainly , technic progresses faster nowadays

[4:58 PM]Pallando-Valar: Someone clearly never ventured into the local woods..

[4:58 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya, catching up.

[4:58 PM]Sandalf13: Aiya Ar and Pallando!

[4:59 PM]Eönwë Valar: I think in some ways it's harder, in some ways its softer, and alot of children today are missing out on lessons even my generation got to learn.

[4:59 PM]Sandalf13: That is true, too.

[4:59 PM]Arien Valar: Aiya Pallando and Phari , welcome to the education and gaming discussion panel

[4:59 PM]Eönwë Valar: Just got some memories going. Thanks :}

[5:00 PM]Sandalf13: Into the woods...a good Broadway show...Stephen Sonheim?

[5:00 PM]Sandalf13: Sondheim?

[5:00 PM]Eönwë Valar: Still have some gaming news to get through here.

[5:00 PM]Eönwë Valar: We got sidetracked, but no complaints on the topic, heh.

[ @Sandalf13

[No question that you are right...but as a parent I have learned that at some point you begin to realie that your children are their own people...little adults, if you will. We can give them guidance, and try to help them make good decisions, but the whole process of growing up is teaching your kids and gradually releasing the to the larger world out there. I do not disagree with you at all, but I do think it is harder today than it was when I was a child.

[5:00 PM]Pallando-Valar: I assure you I was exposed to terrible things without the Internet helping out as a child. Then the Internet did help!

[5:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: hehe

Overwatch 2:

[5:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: Overwatch 2:

[5:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: A new Director's Take is out: Stadium's First Week.

[5:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: Check out the info for Season 16.

Heroes of the Storm:

>

[5:02 PM]Eönwë Valar: Heroes of the Storm:

[A new patch is on the PTR.

Lord of the Rings Online:

[5:02 PM]Eönwë Valar: Out this week: Update 44: Crown of Hamât.

[5:02 PM]Eönwë Valar: The 18th Anniversary Event is going through May 12th. Check out the festival guide.

[5:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: Pallando, did you want to add anything to the Eve news already given?

[5:05 PM]Eönwë Valar: Guess he's a bit busy :} Any other gaming news?

[5:06 PM]Arien Valar: Not at the moment , Eonwe

[5:07 PM]Eönwë Valar: Before moving to Tolkien, I'll say that the internet offers great reward with the great risk: the chance to learn things you wouldn't otherwise learn, and even to learn things in a manner that you can learn in, as opposed to the square-peg-in-round-hole learning style that's prevalent in modern education. Like any tool, it's about responsible use.

[1

Tolkien

[5:08 PM]Eönwë Valar: Tolkien:

[5:10 PM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, so we're going to do a lightning round of topics. Some may be serious. Some not so serious. Some may just be frivolous. So answer seriously, or not, but if you can tie it to what we know, that's the best. And again, Lightning Round so be quick :}

[5:11 PM]Eönwë Valar: Who do we have ready to play? :}

[5:11 PM]Sandalf13: I am good for a few minutes more.

[5:11 PM]Eönwë Valar: Assuming Phar's still catching up. We haven't lost Arien yet, have we?

[5:11 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Alright, caught up.

[5:12 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: "Valinor"

[5:12 PM]Eönwë Valar: Welcome to the Present :}

[5:12 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Thanks :)

5:12 PM]Eönwë Valar:

[Image from the move, Spaceballs: "When will then be now?" "Soon."]

[5:12 PM]Arien Valar: still here but flailing slowl

[5:13 PM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, so here we go!

[5:13 PM]Sandalf13: "The present is the key to the past..." Does anhone know who said that (arien...hint hint)

[5:13 PM]Eönwë Valar: First topic: Did Elves wear makeup?

[5:14 PM]Sandalf13: No. They were spiritually opposed to enhancing their appearance, which was ethereal, anyway.

[5:14 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: When starring in movies, probably!

[5:14 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: But yeah, I doubt they needed it, as well. Less signs of aging, better health/skin...

[5:15 PM]Sandalf13: Great comment, Ar!

[5:15 PM]Eönwë Valar: Interesting point from Sandalf. Don't recall anyplace that says that, but both that and Ar's make sense.

[5:15 PM]Sandalf13: They didn't have to worry about bags under the eyes, for example....ha ha.

[5:16 PM]Sandalf13: Or wrinkles.

[5:16 PM]Eönwë Valar: I'm sure they had face paint that they might've worn for festivals and such, just like I imagine they might wear masks for such things too, as a bit of fun.

[5:16 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Would be nice if they were battle paint.

[5:16 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Or festivals, sure.

[5:16 PM]Eönwë Valar: Dwarves wore masks into battle. Don't see why Elves wouldn't.

[5:17 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: *wore, not were

[5:17 PM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, next topic incoming.

[5:18 PM]Sandalf13: Wait...I need to find my foxhole.

[5:18 PM]Arien Valar: I guess some Hobbits did .. remember that Bilbo gave a mirror to his niece or something Angelina , a young Took (?) who obviously spent a long time before them.. may be natural stuff like eye liners , lip stick maybe and some cremes

[5:18 PM]Eönwë Valar: Angelica I think the name was, aye.

[5:18 PM]Eönwë Valar: It was noted she was a bit vain.

[5:18 PM]Sandalf13: You are right, ARien...but Hobbits art not Elves, to be sure.

[5:19 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: She probably wasn't a Fallohide then

[5:19 PM]Eönwë Valar: hehe

[5:19 PM]Sandalf13: I suspect that makeup was probably very expensive, back in the Third Age of M-e.

[5:19 PM]Eönwë Valar: OK, next topic:

[5:19 PM]Eönwë Valar: Stars: Light in the darkness or universal invasion plan by Varda?

[5:20 PM]Sandalf13: Definitely light in the darkness....can you imagine living in a dark world lacking celestial lights of any type? Gives me the willies.

[5:20 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Well, twas before the moon and sun, so probably something for the Children to look at/with.

[5:20 PM]Arien Valar: no invasion plan rather the opposite 😛 they were meant to be guides and guardians , protect the children of Eru from Morgoths creatures

[5:21 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Could be a universal invasion, though that would probably be for a good cause!

[5:21 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: A way to "claim" the heavens for the Valar.

[5:21 PM]Sandalf13: All right you stars...on the count of three, no, four...start marching!

[5:21 PM]Sandalf13: Or one-two?

[5:21 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Red Alert soundtrack starts playing

[5:22 PM]Eönwë Valar: Well, if Stars were Varda's Dwarves, we'd all be in trouble.

[5:23 PM]Eönwë Valar: OK, next topic incoming.

[5:23 PM]Eönwë Valar: Next topic:

[5:24 PM]Eönwë Valar: Noldor, Vanyar, Teleri. If each were an ice cream, what would they be? (Bonus points to whoever picks the ice cream for the Noldor that I'm thinking)

[5:24 PM]Arien Valar: YouTube - World of Warcraft - Lament of the Highborne

[5:24 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Vanyar are vanilla. The purest.

[5:24 PM]Arien Valar: innocent

[5:24 PM]Sandalf13: Oreo cookie dough...Noldor

[5:24 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Noldor did have a bit of a rocky road going.

[5:24 PM]Sandalf13: That too.

[5:25 PM]Eönwë Valar: If we're going to pick vanilla for the Vanyar, then let's make them Vanilla Bean.

[5:25 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Teleri... what's water ice called in English?

[5:25 PM]Sandalf13: Teleri: pistachio with sea-salt

[5:25 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: popsicle, it might be

[5:26 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I'm okay with pistachio :)

[5:26 PM]Eönwë Valar: Different kinds of flavored ice.

[5:26 PM]Eönwë Valar: Some are popcicles, some are icees/slurpees.

[5:27 PM]Eönwë Valar: Good choice on involving sea-salt in the Teleri choice. Might've gone sea-salt caramel before pistachio, but that's not a bad choice either.

[5:27 PM]Arien Valar: salted caramel .. yummy

[5:27 PM]Eönwë Valar: Phar gets the extra points for assigning Rocky Road to the Noldor though. That's what I was thinking :}

[5:28 PM]Sandalf13: Pistachios are sort of salty in themselves, too.

[5:28 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I know there's a type of chocolate flavor called caramel sea-salt.

[5:28 PM]Eönwë Valar: Next topic incoming.

[5:28 PM]Eönwë Valar: Last topic.

[5:30 PM]Eönwë Valar: Mirror Mirror on the wall, who should've been High-King of the Noldor in the Third Age?

[5:30 PM]Sandalf13: Elrond, for sure.

[5:30 PM]Sandalf13: Descent from Finwe remotely, and Turgon more closly.

[5:31 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Prrrobably, yes. Gil-galad had no offspring in Middle-Earth I think.

[5:31 PM]Sandalf13: Yes. Does it not say somewhere that Elrond turned down the title himself?

[5:31 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Celebrimbor wasn't there either.

[5:32 PM]Sandalf13: A parallel with his kin, the Chieftains (not Kings) of the Dunedain..

[5:32 PM]Sandalf13: Was Gil-Galad even married?

[5:32 PM]Eönwë Valar: It's generally considered the natural course for Elves, but that doesn't guarantee he was.

[5:33 PM]Sandalf13: I am not aware of any mention of such a union...

[5:34 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: If Elros was the elder of the two, it might even have been Aragorn 🙂

[5:34 PM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, wrapping up: Elrond is a good answer. I would've also accepted Auros or Figwit.

[5:34 PM]Eönwë Valar: (I warned you ahead of time that seriousness was optional :})

[5:34 PM]Arien Valar: Figwit eh? why not Pigwidgeon then :)?

[5:35 PM]Sandalf13: But Aragorn wasn't around for almost all of the Third AGe...but I do agree with your lineage, Ar.

[5:35 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Well, any of his line then.

[5:35 PM]Sandalf13: OK.

[5:35 PM]Eönwë Valar: Just in case someone doesn't know about Figwit the Grand:

[5:36 PM]Sandalf13: He was, after all part Noldor himself...as were all the kings and chieftains of the Dunedain.

[5:37 PM]Eönwë Valar: Aye, part of what made their lineage tie back way into history.

[5:37 PM]Eönwë Valar: Kings of the Eldar, kings of the Edain, and a Maia.

[5:37 PM]Sandalf13: And his gray eyes and dark hair matched those of the Noldor, too. Tolkien states that the Noldor favored the House of Beor, because of all the Men they encountered, those people were closest to the Noldor in temperment.

[5:37 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And all pouring together as refugees into the same place.

[5:37 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: As if fate had a hand in it...

[5:38 PM]Sandalf13: I think it says that somewhere in the Silarillion, in the Coming of Men.

[5:38 PM]Eönwë Valar: Silmarillion sounds right.

[5:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: OK, ladies and gents. We'll be wrapping up this Lightning Round. Thank you all for participating, both seriously and non-seriously :}

[5:39 PM]Arien Valar: right, friends, I don't want to be a spoil sport but i have to seriously give up now as my day has been quite long

[5:39 PM]Eönwë Valar: Bangs Gavel

After-Meeting

[5:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: Aftermeeting:

[5:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: Sleep well Arien :}

[5:40 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: namarie Arien!

[5:40 PM]Sandalf13: "The Men of that House (Beor) were dark or brown of hair, with grey eyes; and of all the Men they were most like to the Noldor and most loved by them, ..."

[5:40 PM]Sandalf13: Namarie,, Arien!

[5:40 PM]Arien Valar: Namarie 🙂

[5:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: I too must be off. Take care all, good night, sleep well, have fun, and don't forget to submit theme suggestions in the Anniversary Theme thread.

[5:41 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie Eonwe!

[5:41 PM]Sandalf13: "for they were quick of mind, cunning handed, swift in understanding, long in memory, and they were moved sooner to pity than to laughter." From the Coming of Men Into the West. Namarie, Eonwe!

[5:42 PM]Sandalf13: I too must be off...will return later for Ar's report.

[8:47 PM]Sandalf13: Aiya Ar! Hope you are still around.,,,maybe getting a late dinner?

[1:13 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Phew. Sleep, coming back to finish Noblegarden and my rumble session, and then I was collapsing into sleep again.

[1:13 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Anyway, personal gaming report after yet more sleep!

[1:15 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Personal gaming report:

[1:16 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Let's see, all badges for this week were games I'd linked before, so let's repeat one again...

[1:16 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For (non)flashgaming, here's Kongregate - Dumo

[1:18 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: A puzzle platformer with 2 rooms, each with a different character. Switch between them to grab the gems in each room, while also influencing the other: A button in one can bring down a laser in the other, or a key can unlock a door. Stuff like that.

[1:19 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Short puzzles with no timers and an easy reset if you need it, so good luck!

[1:36 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And after playing through that again in about 15 minutes.. 😉

[1:36 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Blizzard gaming:

[1:37 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone: Level 65 on the reward track now. Slowing down a bit again.

[1:38 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The quest event is going, mostly focusing on arenas and/or battlegrounds, for the main quests and a number of the daily quests.

[1:39 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The reward is signature card versions of 3 seemingly random cards from the expansion, though I suspect it's just ones they wanted to make signature art for 🙂

[1:40 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Anyway, I don't arena, so it's all battleground, and luckily you don't need to win for any of the quests. But since they do count for the battleground/arena/brawl win quest, might as well try, and save having to win more than one brawl.

[1:42 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Bgs are not a game-mode I enjoy, but I can grind through when needed. I never put much strategy into it, but I reach the top 4 often enough. I guess other people put even less thought in their matches 😄

[1:45 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Anyway, did poke the brawl for a single win, since you get a pack for the first one. This week it's Everybunny Get in Here: A Noblegarden (or "Easter" for non-Warcrafters) holiday-themed brawl where you spawn an egg on the board each turn, and you get some class cards and dyes in your deck. Dyes you can use to give the random cheap minion that spawns from the egg a certain bonus. Any un-dyed eggs automatically turn into bunnies, which can also be used in a strategy of their own, since there exists a buff card that specifically makes the bunnies more powerful.

[1:46 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Randomness is there, in the dyes you get and the minions that spawn after being dyed. But there might be a bit of skill involved too if you get into it 🙂

[1:50 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Warcraft Rumble: No new collection level. No surprise there, since almost every mini is on the 90000 xp track right now for their next level.

[1:52 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: In the dungeon, I completed both Murk-Eye and Anub'arak's level 22s, and in the alliance week I completed the same with Maiev. Have started doing the repeatable level 23s with some leaders, though that's still quite tough in some cases, for the weekly 100 gold per leader.

[1:53 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Only 2 leaders needing to get through 22 now are 2 blackrock leaders, and it'll be a while before blackrock comes up again. In the meantime we can get some extra gold, then.

[1:55 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: More progress in the heroic sigil campaign! Finally broke through the devilsaur queen with a blackrock deck, and one-shotted it with undead the day after. Just one more family to go, and then we are done with Un'goro Crater. A guild mate of mine only actually has the 160th sigil to go, which I'm quite impressed by, though I suspect he uses customized decks 😉

[1:56 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The events are going nicely as well, with a log-in event almost complete - so we're getting to the good stuff, like 55000 xp tomes - and other recurring events giving some nice gold and xp as well.

[1:57 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For quality upgrades, got the Treant and Meat Wagon to rare, and got the talents for them and the Darkspear Troll, so that's caught up again.

[1:59 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The only minis left now are the molten giant and the leader Malfurion. I threw some grid reset buttons at it to get Malfurion in the current alliance week, before googling it and realizing he won't actually be in the Grid until the next season (announced this week, coincidentally) which starts in 3 days. Giving me 2 more days to throw some more reset buttons at the grid to get Malfurion to rare, at last.

[1:59 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Luckily I've got 50 buttons left 😄

[2:00 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Though dualtribe leaders show up less often, I hope 50 should be enough to get him his last 4 stars to rare.

[2:01 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW:

[2:02 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: A bit more raiding going on, as we have the last bosses on normal on farm (with the shortcut) and are pushing heroic a bit more. Not much gear gained, but there's always crests and valorstones to level our current gear a bit more.

[2:03 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: There's two weeklies now, since the battle pet weekly never comes alone. There's also timewalks, and I completed both weeklies, but the gear reward was of no use.

[2:04 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Noblegarden was this week, monday to sunday, with more transmogs to get and a new duck disguise color, for which you need 6 years to get all 6. I got the white one this time around, making it 4 to go!

[2:05 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For the 5 transmog weapons with a floral design, I had to collect 500 chocolate eggs, which is quite a grind for one week, but Kharanos was nice and quiet as usual, so I got em all

[2:06 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Staff, bow, axe, polearm and dagger. I think the polearm might be my favorite, but the dagger has a nice void appearance as well.

[2:07 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Also completed the trading post for April! As expected, the chocolate eggs pushed me over the edge.

[2:08 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I got the bird/clown masks as reward, and used the currency to buy both the garden trowels and both the Forest Dweller ensembles, also known as the Garden Gnome sets

[2:09 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I did like the snail mount, but I don't want to spend all my currency in one go since I know there's some good stuff coming up in the next months, so I put it on freeze.

[2:10 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: There's no new pets again this month, but I did buy the spring bundle from the shop! Turns out I had most of the pets already except the 2 new ones, a tree-like green dragon serpent whelp and a blue-white owl.

[2:10 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: That also got me to the 1200 pets achievement, which rewarded a new crystalline elemental pet.

[2:11 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And finally, delves! Got Brann from level 62 to 64, and a new hat appearance from a kobold delve: the Taken Candle. Poor kobolds never get to keep their candles!

[2:12 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I also made more progress on my delve journey for the season, getting the Delve-O-bot toy, which teleports you to a random delve that's bountiful for that day. Useful if you don't care which one you do, but since I'm targetting specific ones for possible pets, I'll just let it slumber in my toy collection for now.

[2:13 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: 3 more delve journey milestones to complete!

[2:13 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And that's my report for the week!

[2:15 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh, if you're curious, I haven't really gotten into the new .5 patch. I know there's some time-limited stuff coming later on which I'll poke, but Flame's Radiance seems to be a permanent story continuation, so I'm postponing it for now since I'm way behind on the story as is.

[2:15 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I don't think it comes with gear that I desperately need either (like Siren's Isle did) so it's no priority.

[2:21 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: namarie!

[7:28 AM]Eönwë Valar: Unless you still need Champion gear, no you're not going to be too worried about the gear except for transmog. So probably great for alts, not a big deal for your main.

[12:29 PM]Sandalf13: There it is....for Arien (and others)....James Hutton, the "father" of modern geology, was a Scotsman living in Edinburgh....

[April 29, 2025

[11:24 PM]Eönwë Valar: One step closer: Image of an orc wearing a turtle shell."

[11:25 PM]Eönwë Valar: Looks like they're going all in for TMNT in May's trading post.

[11:26 PM]Eönwë Valar: Bah, not enough for 2 mounts and the turtle shell.

[April 30, 2025

[3:09 PM]Varda: Figwit's actor was retro-fitted to be Lindir for the later movie. : ) The actor says he was playing two different characters, however, not the same one, as his ears, hair, and outfit were markedly changed.

[3:13 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: "Legolas is neat..." but I can't figure out the rest of the acronym

[3:13 PM]Varda: "Frodo is great but who is that"

[3:13 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I know, but I mean the new name.

[3:14 PM]Varda: Besides the actual character from the books? Ahh we might have fun with making it into an acronym!

[3:14 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Surely there's something we can fit in there!

[3:14 PM]Varda: Surely!

[3:15 PM]Varda: You have what looks to be a good start.

[3:17 PM]Varda: is real; it's real... umm

[3:17 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: dis is real?

[3:17 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V:

[3:17 PM]Varda: We may need to work on this a bit. : )

[3:18 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: dough is rye!

[3:23 PM]Varda: delusion is real?

[3:23 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Better

[3:23 PM]Varda: Still awful, hehe. Someone will think of something!

[3:56 PM]Eönwë Valar: Legolas Is Noshing Doritos In Rivendell.

[4:42 PM]Varda: There you go!

[4:52 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Battleground weekly during Comp Stomp brawl week. Always a good combination

Thus ends this week's meeting. Come back and see us next week!
