5:00pm Eastern Time

Discord: Valar Guild/meeting_place

Before-Meeting

[12:51 AM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, so here's what it seems: Underpin appearing puts the Wave Scrambler 2k that summons him on a 1-day cooldown. I just used the scrambler today, and it looks like it only went on a 1-hour cooldown.

[3:18 PM]Varda: I wonder if it's like some in LotRO where the figuring can be "next day" and that might only be a few hours away.

[3:55 PM]Varda: 5 minutes to meeting time. : )

EVE Online:

[4:08 PM]Varda: We have EVE Online news from Blue Wizard Pallando!

[4:08 PM]Varda: Whenever you're ready. : )

[4:09 PM]Pallando-Valar: So: The drifter crisis has evolved and continued

[4:10 PM]Varda: Ah hah! The story continues. : )

[4:11 PM]Eönwë Valar:

[Image: goldfish becomes sea monster.

[4:11 PM]Eönwë Valar: Evolved like that? :}

[4:11 PM]Pallando-Valar: We have just under 2 weeks left, and after a whole bunch of back and forth and CCP... being CCP, we have this ranking

[4:11 PM]Varda: Uh oh : )

[@Eönwë Valar

[Evolved like that? :}

[4:11 PM]Pallando-Valar: Closer than you think, actually, for multiple reasons..

[4:12 PM]Varda: for those that don't know, would you like to mention which bar on the graph is yours?

[4:12 PM]Pallando-Valar: Morgoth's touch has been involved in the whole thing, let's put it that way and move on..

[4:12 PM]Pallando-Valar: Minmatar, #3 there.

[4:12 PM]Varda: Eek

[4:12 PM]Varda: Wow! Grats : )

[4:13 PM]Varda: Just a smidge from number 2 4:13 PM]Pallando-Valar: This is the news article for when they added certain contributions.. EVE Universe - Latest Results in Race for Drifter Hives as Harmonics Come Into Effect

[4:13 PM]Pallando-Valar: I am the #1 pilot there for the Harmonics, though I should be clear that while I handed them in, it was a group effort.

[4:13 PM]Varda: And you're (Minmatar, number three) in the top five! (Debes Sparre aka Pallando, at number one)

[4:13 PM]Varda: ohhh!

[4:14 PM]Varda: Harmony indeed : )

[4:15 PM]Pallando-Valar: So: the race continues. Due to the aforementioned touch of Morgoth, it seems unlikely the rankings will change much at this point, though the close pairs may swap positions

[4:16 PM]Pallando-Valar: It continues until April 3. New players can contribute on day one, by the way! So if you want to get in on a big event...

[4:16 PM]Varda: Go go guys!

[4:17 PM]Pallando-Valar: Oh, and as a note, the top 5 are all getting more-or-les the same reward. There may be some advantrages by rank or relative %, but mostly: top 5 win, bottom 5 lose.

[4:17 PM]Varda: Heh

[4:18 PM]Pallando-Valar: In other news, the tournament we lost ( ) continues starting Saturday, where I will be commentating as other teams continue to chase victory. We have 2 weekends to go (29/30, 5/6) and I shopuld be on the desk for at least a couple hours each weekend.

[4:20 PM]Pallando-Valar: Finally, there was a big patchback on the 12th that made a whole bunchof changes to nullsec mining, ansiblex, filaments, PI, cap and battleship build costs, and warp speeds, among other things.

[4:20 PM]Pallando-Valar: Overall very nice, though the Ansiblex and mining changes are still tbd in their impact.

[4:21 PM]Pallando-Valar: That's all for eve.

[4:21 PM]Varda: Thank you!

[4:22 PM]Varda: We look forward to your commentary and may your wins just keep winning winningly!

[4:22 PM]Varda: Eonwe, moving to your gaming news now. : )

[4:30 PM]Varda: Thank you.

Lord of the Rings Online:

[4:31 PM]Varda: We have functioning kin branches now on both Peregrin and Glamdring. Come on in!

[4:31 PM]Varda: Housing, including kin houses, will be later after most folks that are going to transfer have done so.

[4:31 PM]Varda: Then, look out for the land rush! : )

[4:31 PM]Varda: Code: MANYMARKS

[4:32 PM]Varda: The Spring Festival is running.

[4:32 PM]Varda: Also, transfers have become a great deal easier and faster!

[4:32 PM]Varda: Kinmates seen this past week in our kin branches (and congratulations for making the moves!):

Peregrin branch US RP-encouraged 64-bit

Glamdring branch US normal:

Treebeard branch:

Angmar branch:

Mordor branch:

[4:33 PM]Varda: If you have characters in need of an invite to Peregrin or Glamdring kin branches, now is a great time to grab an officer for one. Speak up. : )

[4:34 PM]Varda: Don't be worried about interrupting during the rest of the meeting for this either. We have been known to walk and chew gum at the same time, now and then.

[4:34 PM]Varda: Any other membership or gaming news? Suggestions, requests, etc? : )

[4:36 PM]Varda: In other membership news, Elwing visited this past week and initiated her transfer from Landroval to Peregrin just before leaving here.

[4:36 PM]Varda: If there are no further remarks...?

[4:37 PM]Varda: Arien, fire away. ☼

[4:37 PM]Arien Valar: well transfers to Glamdring are disabled at the moment

[4:37 PM]Varda: oboy. Thank you.

[4:37 PM]Arien Valar: hence i ve got no characters in the kin yet

[4:37 PM]Arien Valar: but i made a brawler to spy out the comunity

[4:37 PM]Varda: hehe

[4:38 PM]Varda: I just checked +Cordovan:

[4:38 PM]Varda: Cordovan — 3/21/2025 9:32 AM "It simply didn't make sense to further exacerbate the peak population concerns on Glamdring and Orcrist by reopening transfers to those worlds at this time. We'll be sorting through this concern, but the other worlds didn't need to wait for it, and offering people the chance to move from Orcrist to Meriadoc to ease the burden and give people the chance to correct mistakes fit as well."

[4:38 PM]Arien Valar: 12 and that is beating the crap out of orcs currently ^^

[4:38 PM]Varda: Sounds like a brawler!

[4:39 PM]Varda: Did your brawler feel like a temp? Would you like Fainan to pop up and give an invite?

[4:39 PM]Arien Valar: sounds like a deal

[4:39 PM]Varda: Will do. But before that...

[4:39 PM]Varda: On to

Tolkien

[4:39 PM]Varda: Tolkien!

[4:40 PM]Eönwë Valar:

[4:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: Brawler.

[4:40 PM]Varda: Sure 'nuff. : )

[4:40 PM]Arien Valar: hehe :

[4:40 PM]Eönwë Valar: Works for the topic too, heh.

[4:40 PM]Sandalf13: Aragorn defending the Hobbits on Weathertop

[4:41 PM]Sandalf13: The Three Hunters chasing after Merry and Pippin through Rohan...

[4:41 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya, catching up!

[4:41 PM]Varda: Aye. And yes! Great ones.

[4:41 PM]Varda: Aiya Phar : )

[4:41 PM]Eönwë Valar: Bilbo rescuing Frodo from being lost among the multitudes of Brandybucks living in Brandy Hall.

[4:41 PM]Varda: Interesting

[4:41 PM]Sandalf13: Aiya Ar!

[4:42 PM]Arien Valar: Frodo rescuing Middlearth from Sauron :)?

[4:42 PM]Varda: The main story!

[4:42 PM]Sandalf13: The Hobbits rescuingfLobelia Sackville-Baggins and Fredegar Bolger from the Lockholes.

[4:43 PM]Arien Valar: but on a smaller Scaile .. Frodo resuing Sam from being stuck in the shire .. although i very much doubt Sam saw it like that hehe

[4:43 PM]Eönwë Valar: Pharazon rescuing the Numenoreans from that horrible island that had everything they could possibly want. What torture!

[4:43 PM]Sandalf13: Rescuing?

[4:44 PM]Eönwë Valar: Gandalf rescuing Bilbo from a mundane life.

[4:44 PM]Sandalf13: Yes

[4:45 PM]Sandalf13: Elrond rescuing Frodo from becoming a Wraith

[4:45 PM]Varda: (Frerrar, 22 Brawler Dwarf, has just joined the Glamdring kin branch!)

[4:45 PM]Eönwë Valar: Not that Bilbo wouldn't have been content to live out his days as he was doing, but he probably would've always had the itch in the back of his mind that he could've done more.

[4:47 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Alright, caught up

[4:48 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And I feel like I'm repeating myself from past topics, but Fingon rescuing Maedhros fits!

[4:48 PM]Varda: It does fit : )

[4:49 PM]Sandalf13: Gil-Galad rescuing Elros and Elrond from the Feanorians (Maglor, specifically, sort of)

[4:49 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: But in the more humorous sense you've been going for, Beren rescuing Luthien from the single life under her parents' vigilance.

[4:49 PM]Sandalf13: What about Luthien saving Beren?

[4:49 PM]Sandalf13: I mean rescuing...

[4:50 PM]Varda: Both words work. : )

[4:50 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I think Beren and Luthien had a habit of rescuing/saving each other.

[4:50 PM]Sandalf13: What about Ulmo rescuing Elwing from her fall into the sea?

[4:50 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: As befits an adventure party.

[4:51 PM]Varda: Ulmo did a fair bit of rescuing, interesting thought.

[4:51 PM]Varda: He sent Tuor to save what he could of Gondolin.

[4:52 PM]Sandalf13: Hurin and Huor along with the Men of Dor Lomin resucing Turgon from certain death at the hands of the Orcs at the Nirnaeth...

[4:53 PM]Varda: Lot of really epic stuff

[4:53 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Sam rescued Frodo at least once.

[4:55 PM]Varda: Glorfindel saved the refugees of Gondolin from a Balrog by fighting it and giving his life for them.

[4:55 PM]Sandalf13: Barahir saving Finrod Felagund by creating "a wall of spears" around him, that allowed him to escape...in eternal gratitude, Finrod gave Barahir the Ring of Felewgunf that thereafter became the famlous "Ring of Barahir."

[4:55 PM]Varda: and worn later by his descendant, Aragorn. Good to know that history. So many rings to track. : )

[4:56 PM]Sandalf13: Too many rings...maybe Tolkien could have done more with less....heh heh...I mean that as a joke, of course...

[4:56 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Eh, it works fine as a portable plot device and mark of recognition

[4:57 PM]Eönwë Valar: Well, it'd be a little more difficult to tote around the Candellabra of Felagund as proof of debt.

[4:57 PM]Sandalf13: Maybe an authograph pen?

[4:58 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Could've been worse, like a gold tooth.

[4:58 PM]Sandalf13: I can see it now: Beren walking through the woods surrounding NArgothrond holding up a pen with Finrod's name on it....wow. What an image.

[4:59 PM]Varda: In LotRO, a gold tooth from a murdered dwarf is put in his friend's club, to continue to do battle.

[4:59 PM]Sandalf13: They do say the pen is mightier than the sword, however.

[4:59 PM]Varda: Squinting to read the inscription.

[4:59 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: But is it mightier than a club lined with gold teeth?

[4:59 PM]Eönwë Valar: The Fifth Molar of Felagund. Sorry, this one gets you a free meal and a night's stay. Now if it'd be the Incisor of Felagund, that would've got you an army.

[4:59 PM]Varda: There you go.

[5:00 PM]Varda: (Fellow LotRO-ites, was that gold tooth or regular tooth? Memory may be confused with something else.)

[5:00 PM]Sandalf13: I just had a 45 year old gold crown replaced with a new composite crown...I told the dentist to save the gold so I could sell it at the nearest gold exchange. Even a few grams is worth something, these days.

[5:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: So you bought a small island with it, then, lol.

[5:01 PM]Varda: ah - interesting. I'll have to remember that.

[5:01 PM]Sandalf13: Maybe a meal at McDonalds...

[5:01 PM]Varda: Costs the same. ; )

[5:01 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: 45 year old? I'd keep it as a souvenir, put it on the mantlepiece.

[5:01 PM]Sandalf13: I had a good dentist back in the 80s....

[5:01 PM]Varda: inside a plastic bar

[5:01 PM]Sandalf13: Long before your time, Ar.

[5:01 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Only by a few years!

[5:02 PM]Varda: Time travel might make up for that?

[5:02 PM]Varda: Anyway, we have reached the hour.

[5:02 PM]Varda: gavels are hopping up and down in the shelf - me me me!

[5:02 PM]Sandalf13: Where is it? I don't see an hour! Am I missing something?

[5:02 PM]Varda: The Vala of Time is holding it.

[5:03 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Late is the hour...

[5:03 PM]Varda: the Vala of Time points to the gavel that nodded its hammer to Phar's quote

[5:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: our hour

[5:03 PM]Varda: huge hop!

[5:03 PM]Varda: right onto the hammerpad!

[5:03 PM]Varda: bonk! phlop

[5:04 PM]Arien Valar: "The hour is late ... "

[5:04 PM]Eönwë Valar:

[5:04 PM]Varda: hammerpad rights the wobbling gavel

Thus ends this week's meeting. Come back and see us next week!

After-Meeting

[5:04 PM]Varda: After-meeting!

[5:04 PM]Varda: My world and your world, our world with our combined ability!

[5:04 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I always knew Elrond had a powerhungry streak...

[5:05 PM]Varda: uh oh

[5:08 PM]Eönwë Valar: That work better for anyone not seeing the image?

[5:08 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Can't say, both work for me.

[5:09 PM]Varda: thanks! I could see the image, just not go to it on its site to give credit.

[5:09 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: "Uncle Elrond! Did you bring me a present?"

[5:10 PM]Varda: They don't like to translate to the transcript.

[5:10 PM]Sandalf13: This is a funny one that my friend Del from Lincoln sent me...I sent it earlier to Varda, and she thought it was hilarious...

[5:11 PM]Sandalf13: Get it? hah hah.

[5:11 PM]Arien Valar: hehehe

[5:11 PM]Arien Valar: nice one

[5:12 PM]Sandalf13: I guess I am a little late with this, but it did take some time to get the job accomplished, after all.

[5:13 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hah! I like that

[5:14 PM]Varda: Because it is hilarious : )

[5:14 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And just the right amount of nerdy

[5:16 PM]Sandalf13: One would think that the original architects of Stone Henge would have been a bit more forward-thinking, and would have place the stones on a moveable circular platform, making the time adjustment easier every Fall and Spring...what unimaginative architects!!

[5:17 PM]Sandalf13: Just like the architect of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, who saved 600 Lire by not hiring a geologist.

[5:17 PM]Sandalf13: Before it was leaning, that is.

[5:17 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Ah, but it would've just been an ordinary tower otherwise, and not as famous as it is now.

[5:17 PM]Sandalf13: There is that...

[5:17 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Definitely secured his legacy.

[5:23 PM]Eönwë Valar: Sleep well Arien.

[5:25 PM]Sandalf13: Big week ahead for the garden: I ordered 3 cubic yards of organic-rich topsoil to fill in the new six inch deep layer. It will be delivered by truck tomorrow, and dumped curbside. I will have to use a wheelbarrow to move it from the street all the way to the backyard...fortunately, a young man who works at the front desk of my local Planet Fitness volunteered to help TUesday morning...makes it a lot easier, and I followed Varda's advice.

[5:26 PM]Varda: O good that you got help!

[5:26 PM]Sandalf13: That should give the garden plenty of time to settle in, and get rained/snowed on in April, in order to be ready for planting in mid-May.

[5:26 PM]Varda: Paying in pizza?

[5:26 PM]Sandalf13: Something like that...

[12:38 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Personal gaming report:

[12:38 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For (non)flashgaming, here's Kongregate - Play Please Don't Eat Me

[12:40 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Part of a series of games around the site's collectible kongpanions, though actually owning kongpanions doesn't really help with the gameplay other than a bit of a score bonus per level.

[12:41 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Idea is simple: You get a tray of mixed kongpanions and non-sentient food, and you need to sort them out by gathering them in sets of 3 of the same. There's 7 slots on the table, so I'd advise not working on more than 2 different ones at once, ideally just 1 at a time.

[12:43 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: There's a few types of bonuses to help you: freeze time, clear the table, or mix up the tray, but other than some free ones you get - not sure where from, maybe daily - you need to pay so I'd suggest just playing without them

[12:44 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Also a lot of badges for high scores and high totals, but some of them are very large grinds, so I wouldn't recommend them unless you really love the game and have nothing better to do

[12:44 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh, tip... while it might be tempting to seek out the rarer ones first, they might be harder to pick out, so I suggest grabbing the ones you can see multiple sets of right away until things clear up a bit.

[12:57 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Blizzard gaming:

[12:58 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone: Level 179 on the reward track.

[12:58 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got Death Knight to level 57 along the way.

[1:01 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Event quest kept me very busy this week: final quest is to play 30 ranked standard games or tavern brawls, with the brawls counting 5 times so you'd only need 6. But the brawl is Coliseum, a gold-paid heroic arena which I never do. So not only did I have to get my weekly win 5 brawls or battlegrounds in the battlegrounds, which takes a long time, I also had to play 30 standard games, which came down to 6 a day. That's a lot of Hearthstoning!

[1:01 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: No wonder I got the DK to 57

[1:02 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I don't really use standard decks much, but whipped up a death knight one for the occasion with a lot of zerg and deathrattle focus. Seemed to work the majority of the time.

[1:02 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Anyway, quest event complete, and that got me a new death knight skin, Soulbringer Inge.

[1:02 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And a bunch of raptor cards from the upcoming expansion

[1:03 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Which launches in 2 days, so that'll be a new reward track too. Probably about time

[1:05 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Warcraft Rumble: No new collection level.

[1:06 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: New season has started, sparking some more activity among our little group, but it'll take a while to reap new rewards there. Though I did start doing pvp daily to grab the pvp rewards for this season.

[1:06 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: They're quite good, with lots of gold, tomes and stars, so it's worth getting, and it's no longer rating based, just cumulative from both wins and losses. Just a matter of time.

[1:08 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: No event going on currently, which explains why I haven't gotten much in the way of levels and quality upgrades, though the seas of Rumble's map have frozen over in anticipation of the upcoming Icecrown event, to unlock the new Lich King leader. It would be interesting if the continent of Northrend actually showed up, leading to more zones and bosses to play, but it's probably just an event form.

[1:10 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Dungeon wise, got started on 2 new leaders: Maiev in the alliance week, getting her through level 20, and Anub'arak in the undead week, through level 11 so far. He's currently the last undead leader, so that might be the first faction I complete, but I'm not sure if I can get him through 22 already before the undead week ends.

[1:11 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: If I don't, Arthas will show up before then, so that's one more for the undead faction

[1:12 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Actually, if Arthas shows up this week during undead week, that'll be a given... and it would make sense around the event.

[1:14 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: As for collectibles, the skins coming up in the next patch look interesting, but I'm assuming a lot of them are either time-limited, paid for with real money, or both. So I won't worry about catching them all, and just enjoy what I can get.

[1:14 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: (which is probably a healthier attitude anyway)

[1:15 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: No luck in the heroic sigil campaign, the devilsaur queen with her armies of raptors are quite overwhelming, even at 2 levels below my army. I could probably look into custom compositions online but I'm not that annoyed yet.

[1:16 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For quality upgrades, not much this week, just getting Execute and the Banshee to rare, both minis I don't really use much anyway. They're still waiting for their talents.

[1:16 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW:

[1:17 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Raiding continues! Some heroic progress is being made, but I also got my first normal Gallywix kill.

[1:18 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Lots of gear upgrades this week, including my (and many players', I think) best in slot weapon, fittingly called the Best-In-Slots, from the One-Armed Bandit slot machine boss.

[1:19 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: You can tell they had fun with this casino raid

[1:20 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: With such gear upgrades my ilevel got high enough to reach the recommended gear for tier 8 delves, which I've started doing. It also helps that this is a delve week, with 2 weekly quests focusing on them, and giving extra experience for them.

[1:21 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got another level in the delve journey, unlocking another customization for the mount, some interesting looking pipes and exhaust at the back.

[1:22 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Also, Brann got from level 54 to 57, since he gets extra experience this week as well.

[1:22 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I've also unlocked a few new curios, the Pinged Augment Chip and the Pacifist Rig, as well as upgrades for others, now that I'm hitting higher tier delves.

[1:24 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And finally, a new mount! In my search for more gold and delve keys I've started doing some of the weekly cache events again, and the Awakening the Machine dropped the Machine Defense Unit 11 mount for me Interesting looking thing, based on a mob in the event, seems to have the same skeleton and animation as the golden warframe from back in Legion.

[1:25 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And that's my report for the week!

[1:25 AM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie

[3:10 PM]Varda: Glamdring didn't stay down long. Go for it!

[3:10 PM]Varda: Thank you, Phar. : )

[3:47 PM]Eönwë Valar: Glamdring isn't an option for transfer.

[4:55 PM]Eönwë Valar: Oops, looks like Glamdring is available to transfer after all. Guess that's what you meant :}

[5:01 PM]Eönwë Valar: Well the Huntress is back with her captain, but it's telling me someone already has her name.

[World of Warcraft:

[7:06 PM]Eönwë Valar: Cleaning out my inventory again. Just used up the mawshrooms I'd been holding onto now that no one's there to compete with to get the mount. Also used my copper coin of the isles. Two inventory spots cleared up. Yay me :}

[7:11 PM]Eönwë Valar: Bah, six days for Blanchy and there's a specific order to give the items. Guess I won't be getting rid of these horse shoes after all./

[10:26 PM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, the Sylannas fight in Sanctum of Domination reaches a point where it's not intuitive.

[10:49 PM]Eönwë Valar: Well, either I'm extremely unlucky, or this legendary was handed out like candy back in the day.

[10:50 PM]Eönwë Valar: "Unlucky to get a legendary?" You might wonder, and indeed, I got 2 of them. So why is it unlucky?

[10:50 PM]Eönwë Valar: Because it's two Hunter bows... dropping for my Paladin :}
