Discord: Valar Guild/meeting_place
Attending: Arien, Ar-Pharazon, Eonwe, Falco, Sandalf, Shelob/Ungwetari, Varda (presiding).
Topic: The concept of loyal friendship is strong in Tolkien's work. It includes loyalty in the form of self-sacrifice of all sorts, defending to he death, cheering up when sad. Can we think of any examples, and this can be from any book, short story, poem, art, et cetera?

[5:53 AM]Eönwë Valar: Bah, Paladins are losing another aura. Again.
[6:24 AM]Eönwë Valar: One would think Blizzard would've learned by now how attached Paladins are to their auras.
July 5, 2024
[4:04 AM]Eönwë Valar: Ok, this is rather anecdotal, but I suspect there's some benefit from secondary stats (or at the very least versatility) even past the stated cap on the stat screen. Reason: I've been trading out stat gems for armor gems as I make them since I'm "capped", but I've noticed as I did so certain boss fights I didn't hit certain phases as fast. So I swapped all my armor gems back in for versatility gems (10 in all) and found the fight sped up.
[4:05 AM]Eönwë Valar: So even if it's just a matter of the stat screen not accounting for the boss' natural +3 levels, it looks like there's a reason not try and pare down the numbers too close to the supposed cap. (edited)
[7:00 PM]Eönwë Valar: Closer to beating Sha of Fear in ToES Heroic (Camera angles letting the adds get their 1-shot in on me before I can take them out, and since Paladins are mostly melee I don't have alot of ranged options), but Empress in Heart of Fear Heroic still gets that 5th stack in to mind control me at the same damage level.

[7:48 PM]Eönwë Valar: Daily dose of fun in the Harbor channel. Enjoy :}
July 7, 2024
[3:34 AM]Eönwë Valar: Wow, almost missed the chance to outfit my Timerunner with 36-slot bags in her vault. I guess it doesn't ultimately matter when they change the system, but still.
[3:51 PM]Varda: Thanks for the fun. : )
[3:51 PM]Varda: Storage, the ultimate never-ending pursuit!
[4:02 PM]Eönwë Valar: 3 hours left to vote in the poll, heh. (edited)
[4:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: And heya.
[4:03 PM]Arien Valar: Aiya
[4:03 PM]Arien Valar: what poll?
[4:03 PM]Sandalf13: Aiya All! Just walked in the door from a hike up to Bergen Peak in the Foothills...only 10,000 feet, but still a climb...
[4:03 PM]Varda: Aiya
[4:03 PM]Varda: Only : )
[4:05 PM]Varda: Where do we go to find the poll?
[4:06 PM]Eönwë Valar: There' a poll in the harbor channel.
[4:06 PM]Eönwë Valar: That was the fun :}
[4:06 PM]Varda: Thank you
[4:07 PM]Varda: Lots of Holy Crab Roll!
[4:09 PM]Varda: ok, I voted for the fun. : )

[4:12 PM]Varda: For July 4th fun (and the fireworks and desserts and LotRO), Meriadoc and Elwing came over to our house with Fangorn, Sauron, and myself. Much fun was and is being had!

[4:16 PM]Varda: On to
[4:16 PM]Varda: Gaming!
[4:16 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya!
[4:16 PM]Varda: Now gaming we have been doing. : )
[4:16 PM]Varda: Phar! Aiya : )
[4:17 PM]Varda: Any news you'd like to pass along, Phar?
[4:17 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Don't think so!
[4:17 PM]Varda: No news is often good news.
[4:18 PM]Varda: Anyway, we had fireworks across our entire sky. Lots of boom, whango, and black powder smoke. Much fun.
[4:18 PM]Eönwë Valar: And yet, no Gandalf....
[4:19 PM]Varda: But can we prove that? : )
[4:19 PM]Eönwë Valar: hehe
[4:19 PM]Varda: tosses the gavel to Eonwe in a massive shower of sparks and smoke
[4:20 PM]Varda: Your Gaming Gavel has smoked its way to you!
[4:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: Thanks.
[4:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: World of Warcraft:
[4:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: The Darkmoon Faire is going.
This week's bonus events: Pet Battles and Arena Skirmishes. This week's PvP Brawl: Temple of Hotmogu.
[4:21 PM]Eönwë Valar: A new short story is out: "Trials"
"After several younglings are lost attempting their om’gora rites, Thrall begins questioning the value of the trials. The new generation places such emphasis on martial strength and battle prowess that they would risk death attempting the rites before they are ready. Walking through Orgrimmar with his family, Thrall reflects on his son’s readines...""
[4:21 PM]Eönwë Valar: Character Restoration will be temporarily disabled when the pre-expansion patch goes live in order to better transition to the new Warbands system. If you have a character to restore, do it before then. Character Restoration Temporarily Unavailable - WoW
[4:21 PM]Eönwë Valar: Check out This Week in WoW.
[4:22 PM]Eönwë Valar: With Season of Discovery Phase 4, Molten Core will be a single weekly lockout, but Onyxia, Kazzak, and Azuregos will be reset twice a week. *Updated 7/1* Season of Discovery Phase 4 Goes Live July 11!"
[4:22 PM]Ungwetari: tiptoes into the meeting hoping no one notices the big spider arriving late
[4:22 PM]Eönwë Valar: Check out this week's hotfixes. Hotfixes July 3, 2024
[4:22 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Lots of toes to tip. Aiya!
[4:23 PM]Varda: Aiya Shelob! That was a lot of toes to tiptoe with!
[4:24 PM]Eönwë Valar: Hearthstone:
[4:24 PM]Eönwë Valar: Anomalies have returned to Standard and Wild game modes. --- "Anomalies"
[4:24 PM]Eönwë Valar: Warcraft Rumble: 4:25 PM]Eönwë Valar: New family coming in Season 7: Cenarion. --- Player Versus Player Update
[4:25 PM]Ungwetari: I'm pretty sure humans have more toes than I do though, considering I think Spiders technically have no toes, and even if they do, it's just 1 per leg.
[4:25 PM]Eönwë Valar: And thus ends my gaming news.
[4:25 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Ah, but humans tend to tip em 5 at a time, so it's still a lot more tipping times.
[4:25 PM]Ungwetari: Sorry for interrupting with my regular casual banter Eonwë!
[4:26 PM]Ungwetari: And you think I tip more than 5 at a time?
[4:26 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: No, probably one at a time!
[4:26 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: So it sounds like you tip more often.
[4:27 PM]Eönwë Valar: No worries.
[4:27 PM]Ungwetari: Well, at least I'm not stomping around like humans do. Makes more sound anyway.
[4:27 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Don't forget to tip your tauren!
[4:28 PM]Varda: Thank you, Eonwe
[4:28 PM]Varda: Hard to tip a spider. Have to do a complete flip.
[4:29 PM]Varda: Lord of the Rings Online:
[4:29 PM]Ungwetari: Taurens may be even harder to flip. I know there are some legends down in Texas of people tipping cows, but I have yet to see actual evidence.
[4:29 PM]Varda: The group of Fangorn, Elwing, Meriadoc, and Varda made lots of splash in Landroval server.
[4:30 PM]Varda: (Not supposed to tip cows, so they don't want to show much evidence.)
[4:30 PM]Varda: Fangorn, Elwing, and Varda have been tearing along in a trio for days now. Meeting gave us a rest. Along with all the cooking.
[4:31 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Been thinking about how that would work and why it's a concept. I suppose they won't be able to adjust their feet quickly and thus are easy to imbalance and tip over by pushing on a side.
[4:31 PM]Varda: LotRO servers:
Landroval branch
Crickhollow branch:
Treebeard branch:
[4:31 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: But go ahead
[4:31 PM]Varda: Any other gaming news?
[@Varda
(Not supposed to tip cows, so they don't want to show much evidence.)
[4:31 PM]Ungwetari: Plenty of Florida men even in Texas though.
[4:32 PM]Varda: Texas is big on having people from all over the world and all over the USA, so yes.
[4:32 PM]Varda: And we welcome Elon Musk and his businesses. ; )
[4:32 PM]Ungwetari: Well, I'm working on a "new" Factorio save.
[4:32 PM]Varda: Feel free to start your own amazing businesses here too!
[4:32 PM]Varda: What is that, Shelob?
[4:33 PM]Ungwetari: And even though it may prove futile with the expansion being released soon, I'm happy to say that I am finally starting to design a true megabase.
[4:33 PM]Varda: Good luck! May you get past "starting"!
[4:33 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Mega always sounds impressive
[4:34 PM]Varda: (oh, but remember to keep Texas Texan)
[4:34 PM]Ungwetari: Well, I think I have, considering that I have blueprinted a fair number of items already (although I am in the process of redoing all of it, because of early mistakes).
[4:34 PM]Varda: Sounds...familiar.
[4:35 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: A bit like writing...
[4:35 PM]Varda: Aye
[4:35 PM]Arien Valar: hehe it does sound familiar
[4:35 PM]Varda: and any other endeavor. : )
[4:36 PM]Varda: Shall we start our Tolkien chat endeavor next?
[4:36 PM]Varda: yes!
[4:36 PM]Varda: Tolkien:
[4:36 PM]Varda: Topic: The concept of loyal friendship is strong in Tolkien's work. It includes loyalty in the form of self-sacrifice of all sorts, defending to he death, cheering up when sad. Can we think of any examples, and this can be from any book, short story, poem, art, et cetera?
[4:37 PM]Arien Valar: classic : Aragorn at Merry in the houses of healing
[4:38 PM]Arien Valar: he was pulling Merry s leg in pretending not to see his tobacco pouch next to his bed
[4:38 PM]Sandalf13: Sam taking care/carrying Frodo enroute to Orodruin.
[4:38 PM]Arien Valar: and Pippin of course noticed it all the time
[4:39 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Defending to the death brings Boromir or Finrod to mind.
[4:40 PM]Sandalf13: What about Finrod giving up his life to help Beren when they are imprisoned by Sauron?
[4:40 PM]Arien Valar: Sam cooking coney stew in Ithilien apart from physical strengthening and sitting by the fire
[4:40 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: That's what I had in mind yes
[4:41 PM]Arien Valar: it was certainly the cheering up and sort of comfort all the time
[4:41 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: (that was at Sandalf)
[4:42 PM]Varda: You are all absolutely on target.
[4:42 PM]Sandalf13: Here is another one: Huor givig up his life to allow TUrgon to escape.
[4:43 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Glorfindel taking on the Balrog. Gandalf taking on the Balrog!
[4:43 PM]Arien Valar: the ray of light on the crossroad on the way to the black gate
[4:43 PM]Eönwë Valar: The Balrog taking on Gandalf! Wait, that's not right.
[4:43 PM]Arien Valar: on the stone statue
[4:44 PM]Arien Valar: the kings head .. well u know what i mean
[4:44 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Obviously Balrog took on Gandalf out of loyalty to the Orcs. That it was probably stomping on on the way there.
[4:44 PM]Ungwetari: Gimli traveling the Paths of the Dead, even though he admitted that, shame though it may give him, as a dwarf, he did not like that place, but still went there for Aragorn and Legolas.
[4:44 PM]Sandalf13: Aragorn leaping onto the bridge alongside Gandalf to support him in facing the Balrog...
[4:45 PM]Ungwetari: Shelob's friendship with her belly. She only paralysed Frodo instead of outright killing him for bring that horrible Light into her den.
[4:45 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: So live prey tastes better?
[4:46 PM]Ungwetari: D'oh. It is known.
[4:46 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: live and wrrrriggling
[4:46 PM]Eönwë Valar: Down there, they all float. Oops, wrong giant spider.
[4:46 PM]Arien Valar: the body juices stay fresh longer in the live food
[4:46 PM]Ungwetari: Exactly.
[4:46 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Aha.
[4:46 PM]Eönwë Valar: The world-turtle is never around when you need him.
[4:47 PM]Ungwetari: Where is that darn Wizzard when you need him, eh?
[4:47 PM]Arien Valar: well it was not meant this way but it worked in favor of Frodo
[4:48 PM]Arien Valar: so i guess it was sort of encouraging although i would suspect a secret hand of the Valar in there maybe
[4:48 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Sneaky guys behind the scenes.
[4:49 PM]Ungwetari: This one may be a little bit of a stretch, but Merry when he stayed by Eowyn's side when the Witch King attacked them.
You might call it just "regular" heroism, but I also think it does have something to do with the bond of friendship that they formed during their ride from Rohan.
[4:49 PM]Arien Valar: Witch King
[4:49 PM]Arien Valar: wrong king there
[@Arien Valar
Witch King
[4:50 PM]Ungwetari: You saw nothing. My webbing obscures such errors that I never make.
[4:50 PM]Arien Valar: wrong Universe
[4:50 PM]Ungwetari: They are both undead, so there.
[4:50 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: There must always be... thunder strikes a Witch King.
[4:50 PM]Eönwë Valar: The best fight was Eowyn vs Skeletor. We all know that.
[4:50 PM]Arien Valar: :)
[4:51 PM]Varda: Shelob, Merry and Eowyn were friends, as you suggested. Eowyn recognized what she felt in Merry's frustration at not being able to go to the fight, kindred feeling. Merry admired Eowyn and felt gratitude.
[4:51 PM]Eönwë Valar: He cackled and threatened to come back another day as he ran away. That's how you beat the villain. You foil their plans then let them go to try again another day. It's called job security.
[4:52 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Don't forget the Fellowship forming a raid against Yogg-Sauron.
@Eönwë Valar
The best fight was Eowyn vs Skeletor. We all know that.
[4:52 PM]Ungwetari: Closer than you think:
[4:52 PM]Arien Valar: (we wont mention King Leonith .. frith or what his name was in Diablo III to mention the villain being an undead eh)
[4:52 PM]Eönwë Valar: King Leoric.
[4:53 PM]Arien Valar: something with Leo .. i knew it >>
[4:53 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Leonidas?
[4:53 PM]Eönwë Valar: I fought, died to, and ultimately farmed that darn Skeleton King enough to remember.
[4:54 PM]Ungwetari: I remember farming Act IV more than any other. Teleport skip through the dungeon, Ice Orb all the way, exit, reset and begin again.
@Varda
Shelob, Merry and Eowyn were friends, as you suggested. Eowyn recognized what she felt in Merry's frustration at not being able to go to the fight, kindred feeling. Merry admired Eowyn and felt gratitude.
[4:54 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I misread that first sentence and got an amusing image in my head. Fanfiction material perhaps.
[4:54 PM]Ungwetari: Got me plenty of Naglrings, Goldbands and whatever the Gloves were called.
[4:55 PM]Arien Valar: would make an ineresting trio , Phari
[4:55 PM]Varda: I need to watch out for commas. : )
@Varda
Shelob, Merry and Eowyn were friends, as you suggested. Eowyn recognized what she felt in Merry's frustration at not being able to go to the fight, kindred feeling. Merry admired Eowyn and felt gratitude.
[4:56 PM]Ungwetari: Yes, but kindred feeling is not necessarily friendship. An alliance of convenience rarely lasts.
However, in this case, while I'm not sure they became genuine friends during their ride, they did forge the bond. I think the time spent in the House of Ioreth (I hope I did remember that right), healing, sealed it.
[4:59 PM]Eönwë Valar: On a serious note: Beleg and Turin.
[5:03 PM]Eönwë Valar: Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends. That's not an invitation to recklessness, but rather an acknowledgement of the finite nature of human life, and that to choose the life of another over one's own is a sacrifice that's, shall we say, difficult to top.
[5:03 PM]Varda: Agreed.
[5:04 PM]Varda: And on than note:
[5:04 PM]Varda: gavel bangs and reverbs
[5:04 PM]Varda: After-meeting!
[5:04 PM]Varda: Free chat, even continuing the topic if you like. : )
[5:07 PM]Varda: Merry, stabbing the Witch-king, set himself up for a quite probable death. Eowyn was quick, fortunately.
[5:09 PM]Varda: Hoping not to lose power here. Bit of rain starting up, probably no big deal.
[5:09 PM]Ungwetari: Good luck!
[5:10 PM]Arien Valar: yeah it s getting bed time .. well i ve got two weeks holidays but i am used to these relative ealrly hours now ...
[5:10 PM]Arien Valar: hope your weather stays all right , Varda
[5:10 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie Arien! Enjoy the holiday
[5:11 PM]Eönwë Valar: Just make sure to decouple your flux capacitor. Don't want a bolt of lightning to send 1.21 GW through the time circuits and send you back to 1885.
[5:11 PM]Eönwë Valar: Sleep well Arien.
[5:12 PM]Arien Valar: Namarie , All
[5:19 PM]Eönwë Valar: Holy Crab Rolls, Batman! It's time for me to be off! Tune in next week, same Valar-time, same Valar-channel.
[5:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: Or see you during the week :}
[5:20 PM]Eönwë Valar: Take care all, good night, sleep well, and have fun :}
[5:20 PM]Varda: Namarie : )
[5:21 PM]Varda: decouples flux capacitor
[5:22 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie!
[5:24 PM]Varda: heeh, today is 7/7
[5:24 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Not anymore for me!
[5:24 PM]Sandalf13: Sorry Everyone! Microsoft Computers took over my lap top to update my phone link! Here is the picture I wanted to send 45 minutes ago!!~~!
[5:24 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiyata
[5:25 PM]Sandalf13:
[5:25 PM]Sandalf13: Actually, over one hour ago...but who is counting?
[5:25 PM]Varda: Rolling ground!
[5:26 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I could sit up there in peace until I starve to death.
[5:26 PM]Sandalf13: That is a landslide on the top of the smaller peak to the left of the upper left photo.
[5:27 PM]Varda: We'll send you sandwiches, Phar. We'd be nearby!
[5:27 PM]Sandalf13: Mount Blue Sky (the recently renamed Mount Evans) is behind the pine trees in the right picture. I could not get it in the photo. Mt. B.S. (heh heh) is a 14,000 footer.
[5:28 PM]Sandalf13: One more then I will leave you in peace to enjoy the view...let me assure you, it was an arduous climb to get there...
[5:28 PM]Sandalf13:
[5:30 PM]Sandalf13: By golly, Varda, you are right: today is 7/7. And a happy 7/7 to one and all!!!
[5:30 PM]Sandalf13: Oh to be 7 again.
[5:30 PM]Sandalf13: But of couse, I won't mind 77 either.
[5:30 PM]Sandalf13: If I make it.
[5:34 PM]Sandalf13: I shall temporarily bid you all a fond Namarie. I will check in later, as usual, for Ar's spectacular weekly report.
[5:35 PM]Sandalf13: It better be spectacular, Ar!!! har har har.
[5:35 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: We'll see!
[5:36 PM]Sandalf13: Mal sehen, wie man sagt auf Deutsch. Namarie and sei gesund, y'all!!!
[5:36 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I know the (non)flashgame I have in mind might be of special interest
[7:54 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Personal gaming report:
[7:54 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For (non)flashgaming, something special for all the grandparents in here!
[7:54 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: "Kongregate - Play That Pokeyman Thing Your Grandkids Are Into"
[7:57 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: A Pokemon Go parody, seen through the eyes of a grandfather who's just been given a phone with the game by his grandson.
[7:58 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: He needs to catch up to the kid, but in doing so, also use his phone to walk around, collect pokemon (or pokeymans!) and perform tasks to get people blocking the path to get out of the way.
[7:59 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Try to catch all 18 different pokemon and get the maximum experience level as well, if you want an extra challenge!
[8:01 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: So enjoy, and if you have trouble making sense of the game or wonder what the point is... at least you can relate to the main character
[8:06 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Blizzard gaming:
[8:07 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone: 158 on the reward track now! Gold pouring in.
[8:08 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Used said gold to buy a new druid skin, Ambassador Faelin.
[8:08 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Why a draenei adventurer in a submarine has the druid class, I don't know, but there we go!
[8:08 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Maybe he specializes in marine life
[8:08 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Also got the Death Knight class to 46 along the way.
[8:10 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Finished the Midsummer Fire Festival quests as well, getting a bunch of packs as well as Reaver V-07-TR-0N, new rogue skin reward. Also doesn't seem too rogue-y, other than resembling Mimiron, the Rogueclass-titan a bit, and having a green glow.
[8:10 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Sometimes I wonder if Blizzard is clutching at straws.
[8:13 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: The brawl is Ragnaros' Fire Festival: There's an immune little fire-lord on your opponent's board for your turn, which, at the end of the turn, throws fireballs at you and your minions, randomly, before moving to the other side for the next player. The more minions it destroys, the more damage it does in the future, and if you feed him enough minions, apparently you get to unlock fire festival emotes, though whether that feature actually works is up for debate. Regardless, if it works I should've gotten enough.
[8:13 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: You can use a bunch of minions to not only feed him, but also hopefully deflect damage away from your hero, at the cost of making him more dangerous. But hopefully you can get him to kill your opponent first
[8:14 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: So I used a variation on my unholy death knight deck, with lots of minions to summon and buff, even if they're weak.
[8:16 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Warcraft Rumble: No new collection level, though getting close.
[8:16 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Couldn't get a new level done in the dungeon with Tirion for alliance, but in horde week I did get Cairne through level 19.
[8:20 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: In the heroic sigil campaign, got 2 more sigils: finished Bangalash with the last 2 families, and Jin'rokh the Breaker, the Zandalari dire troll, I defeated with all 5 families. One more boss in Stranglethorn Vale to go!
[8:22 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: More decent deals in the grid came up, but only one quality upgrade: Frostwolf Shaman to uncommon quality. I also got the right talent for the Worgen.
[8:23 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW: Still on raidbreak, so lots of time for other stuff!
[8:24 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Two weekly quests, for pet battles and arena skirmishes. Got the first one done pretty easily, though the latter is giving me some trouble. I switched out some talents, though, to be more useful in arena when it comes to crowd control, though I'm still getting used to those, as they leave me vulnerable as well
[8:24 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Got the 2 new appearances from the Midsummer Fire Festival, a shield appearance and a cloak appearance that matches the shield.
[8:25 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: No luck with the dragon customization armor from Ahune, despite getting up the last morning before it ended, in a 2 hour window to get one more kill in. Alas! Hopefully next year.
[8:25 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I hope the bad luck protection doesn't reset between years.
[8:27 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I did get some new wand appearances from a vendor at the end of Midsummer, for the Fourth of July: The red, white, and blue sparklers.
[8:28 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Also got a new mount: A friend got a gryphon from a time rift which needs to be given to a horde player, so I logged my horde main so he could give it to me as a gift
[8:28 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Will put a screenshot up in the screenshot channel!
[8:29 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For the rest, more alting on Calvirona, the Pandaria character!
[8:30 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: She's been plowing through Kun-lai Summit, getting a lot of quests done, and reaching level 70 in the process. Only my second max-level in this expansion, after my alliance main
[8:31 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: That put her scaling at the lowest point, but any upgrades she gets will now be a permanent boost to her power.
[8:35 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: She's helped out the Shado-pan at the wall, harvested some coffee (or kafa) beans for some grummles, went through the Shadopan Monastery dungeon. Then she aided the survivors of a corrupted Jinyu village, rescued some yaks at the Yak Wash, and visited the Celestial, Xuen, at the White Temple. And finally she escorted some grummles through the Burlap Trail, fought the worldboss Sha of Anger along the way, and helped out Lorewalker Cho with his journey up Kun-lai Summit, and his attempts to stop the mogu's resurrection rituals.
[8:36 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And now she's at a coastal village, defending them from trolls in preparation to stop said trolls from resurrecting the Thunder King, the most dangerous mogu emperor! That should be the last of the Kun-lai quests.
[8:37 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Next week, Townlong Steppes, probably!
[8:37 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And that's my report for the week
[8:38 PM]Sandalf13: Aiya Ar! Are yoy still on?
[8:38 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For the moment! 8:39 PM]Sandalf13: I am reading your report...got caught up with a contractor whom I have asked to build a walkway connecting my driveway to the paving block path I built last year heading into my backyard. Had to go over the layout with him.
[8:39 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Ah, ok. Infrastructure's important!
[8:39 PM]Sandalf13: I am currently building a similar paving block walkway on the south side of the house as well.
[8:40 PM]Sandalf13: Yes indeed.
[8:40 PM]Sandalf13: Mayhap one day you will visit the states, and I can show you these things in person. Mal sehen!
[8:40 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Pictures are nice as well
[8:40 PM]Sandalf13: I shall post some sometime soon....ah....alliteration.
[8:41 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: So, I shall see it soon!
[8:42 PM]Sandalf13: I am going to try your grandparents game...seeing as I am a grandfather.
[8:42 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Enjoy
[8:42 PM]Sandalf13: Thanks! Your games for people like me are always welcome.
[8:42 PM]Sandalf13: How fares your job search? Anything new?
[8:42 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Not yet, alas.
[8:43 PM]Sandalf13: Keep looking! Something will turn up, probably out-of-the-blue.
[8:43 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Of course!
[8:43 PM]Sandalf13: Never give up on estel! As you well know.
[8:43 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Indeed.
[8:44 PM]Sandalf13: I hope that you and your family are all well, happy, and enjoying a wonderful summer. I do not get to express this to you enough.
[8:44 PM]Sandalf13: Es tut mir Leid!
[8:44 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Should be good, soon vacation time
[8:44 PM]Sandalf13: Great! Will you be doing any traveling?
[8:45 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: For me only a midweek, visiting my parents at the campsite they'll be at for 3-4 weeks.
[8:45 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: That's enough for me, really.
[8:45 PM]Sandalf13: That is still good....
[8:46 PM]Sandalf13: Please keep in touch! I usually keep my Discord open during the week, and if you ever just want to chat or visit, give me a "ring," and I will get back to you soon....then again, a "ring" may be old terminology for you...we used to give someone a "ring" when we would call them on the old dial telephones that would ring on the other end!
[8:46 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I just hope the weather'll be ok, for them more than me
[8:46 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I remember the ring
[8:46 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: They're still called ringtones, after all!
[8:47 PM]Sandalf13: Good for you! That is true...but they do not sound like the ringtones that I grew up with!
[8:47 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I'm sure you can customize them if you like
[8:47 PM]Sandalf13: YouTube - Classic Telephone Ringtone
[8:48 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: There you go!
[8:48 PM]Sandalf13: I am sure you never got to use a telephone like this one....they were usually black, however...
[8:49 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Hey, I'm approaching 40, you know I'm pretty sure I used one at my grandparents' place, at least.
[8:50 PM]Sandalf13: When my oldest sister was a teenager, my parents got her a "Princess" phone. That number was HA 8-9335. My Parents phone was BA 9 - 3597 (fir Bayside). Actually, pretty easy to remember after all these years.
[8:50 PM]Sandalf13: My youngest daughter will be 43 this Fall.
[8:50 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: A lot shorter than they are now, at least!
[8:51 PM]Sandalf13: You sound a lot younger than 40! Good for you!
[8:51 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: ...Gaming keeps me young, perhaps
[8:51 PM]Sandalf13: Perhaps so. 8:51 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: I'm told I look about 10 years younger as well. I hope that lasts!
[8:52 PM]Sandalf13: I hope so for you!
[8:54 PM]Sandalf13: I shall let you get to sleep! Namarie and sei gesund!
[8:54 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie!
July 8, 2024
[5:16 AM]Eönwë Valar: I've crossed the 9 million HP threshold.
[11:42 AM]Sandalf13: Congratulations!
July 9, 2024
[2:22 AM]Eönwë Valar: Thanks.
[4:59 AM]Eönwë Valar: Looks like the WoW Pre-expansion patch is on the PTR.
July 10, 2024
[3:01 AM]Eönwë Valar: So tried Heroic Throne of Thunder. Got 8/13 bosses down. Dark Animus is rough.
[12:20 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: And here I am, trying to solo normal scenarios just to see if I can
[12:22 PM]Ar-Pharazon-V: Well, that, and it's easier to cross off the achievements if I don't have to wait for a group.
July 11, 2024
[1:40 AM]Eönwë Valar: :}
[1:41 AM]Eönwë Valar: Sometimes I'll run in the dungone/scenario queue for the thread and just blast whoever's in the group through in about a 1/4th of the time, heh.
[1:42 AM]Eönwë Valar: I almost want to see if I can solo LFR, lol.
[4:12 AM]Eönwë Valar: I think we're close enough to the end of MoP Remix and the fights I'm stuck on are hard stops enough to be able to say that unless I luck out and get a healthy dose of strength threads over the next few days, probably not going to make it to soloing Heart of Fear, Terrace of Endless Spring, or Throne of Thunder on Heroic.
[4:24 AM]Eönwë Valar: Just one boss away on the first two, but 5 away on Throne of Thunder, and Dark Animus is a very hard stop.
[7:43 PM]Eönwë Valar: World of Warcraft - Get the Band Together for Warbands"
[7:44 PM]Eönwë Valar: Inbefore Warband "scenes" become new raid reward content.
[7:46 PM]Eönwë Valar: Also "World of Warcraft - The War Within™ Pre-Expansion Content Update Goes Live July 23"
[7:47 PM]Eönwë Valar: So yeah, pretty sure not going to make it to completely soloing those three raids before the pre-expansion event comes out and I start doing that with my gaming time.
[7:50 PM]Eönwë Valar: Warband bank: 5 tabs, 98 slots per. Guess we'll see how fast it fills up, heh.
[7:52 PM]Eönwë Valar: "The UI and functionality of the character-level bank will be adjusted in the future, and tabs like the Warband bank will also be adjusted. Bags will no longer be needed in the character bank when this change occurs. This change won't alter the number of slots currently available in your bank but will shift them from bags to tabs." --- Soo, does that mean only 36 slots per tab for 7 tabs since MoP remix gave chars 36-slot bags? Or are we stuck with only the 34 if we only have 34-slot bags?
[7:53 PM]Eönwë Valar: "Completing the"Warbanding Together" storyline quests in and around Gadgetzan will get you access to heaps of storage for your Warband." --- I'm wary of the word "heaps" here :}
[7:55 PM]Eönwë Valar: "Class-specific appearances are an exception and will still be collectible only by that specific class." --- So still have to hunt down tier sets with the specific class it looks like.
[8:07 PM]Eönwë Valar: "World of Warcraft - The War Within: Radiant Echoes Event Overview"
[8:08 PM]Eönwë Valar: "Players will be able to accumulate Residual Memories to use to purchase items from various vendors in each of the zones." -- I hope they're not talking about having collectibles spread across different vendors in different zones. That's going to get annoying.
[8:10 PM]Eönwë Valar: They're giving a 32-slot bag and we're up to 36 with MoP remix?
[8:10 PM]Eönwë Valar: Could've at least made it 34 to be even with current tailoring offerings.
Thus ends this week's meeting. Come back and see us next week!
