Ada
[4:04 PM]
Who's Ada?
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:04 PM
Or Atto, or you may recognize Atar.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:04 PM
Dad. I ama an Ada.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:06 PM
Missed a "d" I think. Should be "Adda". "Ado" would be "double".
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:06 PM
I suspected you meant to type Arda.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:06 PM
Oh no, nevermind, Ada is legit too :}
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:06 PM
Most fanfiction uses "Ada," but you know how reliable that may be.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:07 PM
Atto is "dad". "Atar" is father.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:07 PM
And Happy Ada Day to all you Adas out there!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:07 PM
Happy Adaday!

sure you're thanking Mom for all the stuff she does.
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 4:17 PM
Isht
[4:18 PM]
eonwe speaks
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:18 PM
Dad does the grueling outside work no one wants to. He lays down
streets, roads, and highways. He raises houses, office buildings,
and skyscrapers. He works the oil rigs. He digs trenches to lay
cables for phone, internet, and electricity or pipes for water and
sewage. He fixes roofs. He collects garbage. He saves people from
burning buildings. He goes into combat. He works with, in, and on
large, heavy machinery that if something goes wrong he could be
crippled, cooked, poisoned, or killed. He does the jobs that require
him to work long hours, travel alot, to be deployed, to miss
watching you grow up.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:18 PM
You got that right, Bro.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:18 PM
When he's lucky Dad gets to do a job he likes. Many times though,
he's stuck with a grueling, soul-crushing job that he does because
that's the best way to provide for his family. Either way, he likely
works 60+ hours a week to do so. In his time off he takes care of
the yardwork. He trims back hedges and bushes so they look nice. He
trims back trees and deals with broken or dead branches so they
don't crash into the house or onto the vehicles. If a fence needs
fixed he's likely the one taking care of it. He mows the lawn even
when it's 100+ degrees (F) in the shade. He goes out when it's
freezing to chop wood for the fire so everyone else stays warm. He
keeps the vehicles clean and running: oil, tires, transmission,
coolant, spark plugs, brakes, brake fluid, rotors, pack wheel
bearings, grease the joints, serpentine belt. If you paid attention
he might've taught some of this to you.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:19 PM
Hey, hey, moms can do all that too!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:19 PM
We're talking about dad. Mom gets praise for all she does.
[4:19 PM]
Because of his job, because he's trying to take care of you, to
provide for you because he loves you, Dad's the most likely to have
missed many if not all of the big firsts: first step, first words,
first tooth, first birthday, first Christmas, first day of school.
That's not to mention dance recitals, plays, and sports games.
Still, he found time to join your imaginary tea party, teach you to
play board games, to take you fishing, to take you camping, to play
basketball with you, take you to the park, take you to movies, take
you to dinner, to teach you to work on your car, teach you to drive,
if you had some other common interests try to partake in those with
you, or even try your interests simply because he wanted to spend
some time with you. He taught you how to protect yourself, hoping
you'd never need to.
[4:20 PM]
If something needed put together Dad's likely the one who built it.
If something needed fixed and he could he's likely the one who fixed
it. If something heavy needed moved he's likely the one who moved
it. If something needed installed and he could he's likely the one
who did that too. If you're lucky you got to help him and learn a
thing or two. Bookshelves, desks, toilets, tv stands, sinks,
faucets, tubs, refrigerators, couches, stoves, door knobs, attic
ladders, garage doors, basketball hoops, driveways, window screens,
sheds, air conditioners, ceiling fans, stereos, and not last or
least grills, because exposing a chunk of raw meat to an open flame
to make it something edible for himself and his family is something
any Dad can enjoy.
[4:21 PM]
For all his efforts, Dad is more likely to be portrayed by society
as Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin than as Liam Neeson's character
from Taken, but especially you daughters know that if anyone tried
to mess with you, they'd very soon find out about his "very
particular set of skills."
[4:22 PM]
Dad is an unsung hero. He doesn't typically list all the things he
does for you because after he's done it he's already moved on
completely to the next thing that needs to be done. He doesn't do it
to keep score. He doesn't do it for praise. He does it because he
loves you and he loves Mom. That doesn't mean he doesn't deserve
praise, though he won't ask for it. Since I'm not Dad I can tell you
he deserves it. So if you haven't done so already (and don't let
this be just a once-a-year thing), make sure that Dad knows you
appreciate all he's done (don't just say it, show him you appreciate
him), because if you don't, no one else will.
[4:23 PM]
And I'll also add we should be able to praise dad without having to
throw in a "moms too" just like we can praise mom without throwing
in a "dads too".
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:24 PM
Oh, sure, but it still reads a bit weird, considering that by these
standards, my sister in law is more likely to be the dad than my
brother
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:25 PM
These are things that dad typically does, and this isn't meant to be
a conclusive or exhaustive list.
As for things like roads, construction, garbage, and all those hot,
sweaty outside jobs, last I heard those are still 90+% men.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:26 PM
Perhaps, but it's dropping rapidly Oh I know what you're
saying and I appreciate it, as I appreciate my dad, but it's rapidly
heading towards oldfashioned
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:27 PM
I don't know about "rapidly".
[4:28 PM]
But hey, if someone else wants to stand out there on a metal beam
300 feet in the air when it's 100 degrees, have at it, heh.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:28 PM
hehe
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:30 PM
I am as much for equality between the sexes as anyone, as a former
teacher of "The history of Life" in which we spend one week on human
evolution, there are still some very real biological differences
between men and women. As a father of both sons and daughters, I
could observe that they do often think in different ways, and have
different, instinctive, preferences. While no one should ever be
denied a chance to "be all they can be" based on their sex, I think
one must be careful about ignoring tens of thousands of years of
human evolution.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:31 PM
Well, it's about finding the balance, isn't it? There's plenty of
things typically male that females can do as well, and are doing,
though when you truly try to equalize, work conditions need
to be adaptable.
Simply because men and women are different.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:32 PM
There are some things you can't "equalize". A firefighter has to be
able to kick down a door and carry people out. Combat personel have
to be able to exert a certain about of physical force and ability.
Anyone, man or woman, who can't live up to those shouldn't have the
requirements dumbed down just for them.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
It's a bit like racism... yes, there are differences, and
stereotypes exist for a reason, but individually I'll give everyone
a chance to break the mold.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:34 PM
Equality of Opportunity. If you can meet the requirements for the
job then great.
Anyway, we're talking about Dad, and all Dad does for us.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:35 PM
Okay, you know what, I'll concede your Dad stuff, but I'll keep in
the back of my head that women can also play the Dad role you're
describing
That seems safest.
[4:36 PM]
So happy father's day to all dads, regardless!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
And Mom gets celebrated for all she does. Constantly :} Chris Rock
actually has a pretty funny bit on it, but the language is too much
for linking here so you can go find it yourself if you're interested
:}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
hehe
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:40 PM
Anyway, Thanks Dad. Hopefully you get told that more than once a
year :}

about Dads, but since this is about the things Dad does, we're not
just lmiting it to biological fathers, because there are good men

step up to that role when something happens to Dad. So let's go.

Let's start with perhaps a less obvious... Theoden, taking care of
his nephew and niece, treating them like his own children next to
his actual son.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:10 PM
Sam to Rose educating a Hobbit girl to handle the Red Book, history
to pass down for us all.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:10 PM
Thought it was Elanor?
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:11 PM
Gloin, taking his son to a fancy dinner and meeting over in
Rivendell, changing his life forever
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:12 PM
Hehe
Varda — Yesterday at 5:12 PM
Elanor, yes.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:12 PM
Yeah, Elanor was the one who was given the Red Book. Rose was the
name of his wife and of his third child/second daughter (pulled out
the family tree, heh)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
You are right. Elanor.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
One of my books was actually nearby, lucky me :} (edited)
[5:13 PM]
Your point still stands though :} (edited)
Varda — Yesterday at 5:13 PM
Mine are only 1200 miles away, but that was no excuse for so obvious
a mistake. : )
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
We are all entitled to mistakes every now and then.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
And aye, Theoden is a great example, Phar.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
Mine is a bit more often than every now and then.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:14 PM
Gloin is a good one too :}
[5:15 PM]
Well, as a parody of a Saiyan Prince once said, "You're either
perfect or you're not me." :} (edited)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:15 PM
Stretching things a bit, what about Finrod finding the first men,
and teaching them? Even further, what about Thingol placing
the young boy Turin on his lap, and stating in front of all the
Elves present, that he would raise him in honor of his father Hurin?
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:16 PM
Thingol to Turin: not a stretch. Finrod to the First Men, too much
of a stretch.
Varda — Yesterday at 5:16 PM
Aye
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:17 PM
Or Turgon hosting Hurin and Huor for a year while they were
teenagers?
Varda — Yesterday at 5:17 PM
One is actually taking him on as a son, the other not.
onwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:17 PM
Thingol was even called Turin's foster-father as I recall, maybe in
a commentary or in an older version of the tale. The other would be
at best a pupil/mentor relationship.
[5:18 PM]
Turgon and Hurin/Huor? That might be a stretch.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:19 PM
But their fathers were already dead, and they were saved from
destruction only through the devices of Thorondor, and brought to
Turgon for safe keeping.
[5:19 PM]
Just a thought.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:19 PM
Not for very long, though.
[5:19 PM]
Not like Elrond taking in Aragorn.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:20 PM
Very true. OK then, try this one: Maglor taking on Elros and Elrond
as six-year-olds.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:20 PM
I would similarly rule out Merry/Theoden and Pippin/Denethor.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:20 PM
Yes, I was thinking Maglor, but didn't remember for how long that
was.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:20 PM
That one I think is less of a stretch. Tell us about it :}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:22 PM
Feanor was a great dad as well! Teaching his children to craft, to
lead, to stand up for themselves, and most importantly, the
importance of keeping your word and oaths.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:23 PM
After the third and final kin-slaying of Elf on Elf, Maglor and
Maedhros spirited away the two six-year-old twins Elros and Elrond,
after Elwing had thown herself into the sea, where she was saved by
Ulmo. Maedhros was sick at heart with the loss of Elured and Elurin
(the sons of Dior, and brothers to ELwing) and did not want the same
to happen to Elros and Elrond, but it was Maglor who took them to
his heart, and taught and protected them from all harm, and raised
them as children should be raised.
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 5:23 PM
lnothing wrong in those values taken by themselves but in the
context of the situation and where it lead to
[5:23 PM]
it was a bit iffy
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:24 PM
I would question Feanor's worth as a father. Yes...he did teach his
sons some good qualities, but his is a sticky legacy at best. If
Feanor was less full of hubris, perhaps Celegorm, Caranthir, and
Curufin would not have turned into such absolutely nasty dudes. Hard
to believe that Maedhros and Maglor were their brothers.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:29 PM
I wonder.
[5:30 PM]
Fëanor had his issues, but I should take a closer look at the
timelines. I wonder if the birth of his younger sons came closer to
the Unrest of the Noldor/Melkor walking around free in Aman.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:31 PM
That is a wonderful insight. I wonder if Feanor's younger sons were
negatively influenced by Morgoth, despite their father's rejection
of him.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:31 PM
It would seem to me Finwë their grandfather would've been a part of
their lives, so they would've seen other examples besides Fëanor's.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
The three C's were REALLY nasty dudes...that is putting it mildly.
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
there were all the whispers and rumours and kids and teenagers are
wont to hear them
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:32 PM
I think Fëanor at the least would've fostered a stong familial
relationship. The brothers stuck together, regardless of what they
might've done to anyone else.
[5:33 PM]
Which might be ironic considering Fëanor's attitude towards his
(half) brother.
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 5:34 PM
rightr interesting as this discussion is I have to retire :/
work at eight tomorrow :?
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
Sei gesund and Namarie, Arien!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
Namarie!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
Sleep well Arien :}
Varda — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
Half an hour over. Thanks for staying long as you did!
Arien Valar — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
same to you all happy rest father day celebrations and Namarie
once the time comes
Varda — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
Namarie and have a great week!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:35 PM
Well, Finwe did his best as a Dad to keep his sons together, but I
think Feanor wasn't too fond of his halfies.
Namarie!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:37 PM
Hmm
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:38 PM
Did Finwe resent his son for the "death" of his first wife? I don't
readily recall.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:38 PM
Trying to remember some older versions, because I feel like some of
them had Fëanor already fully grown and out the door by the time
Finwë remarried, but the SIlmarillion seems to indicate he was at
best almost fully grown. (edited)
[5:39 PM]
No he didn't. He very much loved Fëanor.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:39 PM
You are 100% correct, Eonwe. I actually think that deep down inside,
Finwe loved Feanor about his other sons.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:39 PM
He didn't even seem to resent his Miriel, per se.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:40 PM
I meant to say above his other sons. Somehow, about just came about.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:40 PM
He was hurt that she basically left him.
[5:40 PM]
I got the gist, no worries :}
[5:41 PM]
To paraphrase Ron White (another comedian I can't/won't link here,
heh), he found himself in quite a pickle. (edited)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:44 PM
I liked to use the words "come about." A nautical term used when
tacking against a headwind. When the captain shifts from one head to
another, he will order his crew "ready about," and then they will
respond "ready." The pilot will then shift the sails about 90
degrees to tack to the other side of the wind, and the crew will
keep their heads down (another nautical term from Old Enlish) to
avoid getting hit in the head by the swinging boom. So: ready about!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:45 PM
hehe
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:45 PM
Keeping their heads down seems more literal, though :)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:45 PM
Indeed it does.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:46 PM
Finwë loved Miriel. He came to her side pretty much (if not) daily,
bringing Fëanor with him, hoping she would recover and rejoin him.
She never did. She refused to, long after her body was healed.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:48 PM
Was it Gandalf who commented that Miriel spent so much of her
life-force in giving birth to Feanor, that she had none left for
herself? Sort of reminds one of the story of Gilraen, giving Hope to
her people and to the world,, but keeping none for herself..
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:48 PM
In his loneliness he fell in love with Indis, and from there we end
up with the Statute of Finwë and Miriel. Marriage was supposed to be
permanent and singular with Elves, until the End of Arda. The ruling
of Manwë because of that incident was that if one spouse is dead,
the other can remarry if the dead spouse wishes to never return to
the Living World.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 5:51 PM
Oooooppps....got to run. Will report back in later for Ar's report.
Namarie to all! Sei gesund, and enjoy the remaining weekend! Varda-
enjoy your visit with your grandchildren!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:51 PM
Eventually, after it was too late, Miriel decided she wanted to be
alive after all, and of course couldn't. Then Finwë did something
unfathomable and when he died, chose to remain dead so that Miriel
could be alive. The crazy things men do for love, heh.
[5:52 PM]
Take care Sandalf.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 5:52 PM
Namarie Sandalf!
[5:53 PM]
And then Miriel married Indis and the world rejoiced!
[5:54 PM]
Those are the days of our lives.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 5:55 PM
Anyway, We are almost a full 2 hours past the start of the meeting.
Bangs gavel
We are now in
top
Aftermeeting:
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 6:07 PM
Hmm, just flipping through the SIl, looks like much of what I'm
remembering of the Finwë/Miriel/Indis situation comes from "The
Statute of Finwë and Miriel" in HoME10. Remembering more detail than
I'm finding in the Sil, heh.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:08 PM
Canon until contradicted
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 6:08 PM
From the Sil it would seem Fëanor was all out on his own and married
by the time Finwë remarried.
[6:09 PM]
hehe
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:12 PM
Right, movie time Back later for report!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 6:15 PM
Have fun :}

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 6:56 PM

All Fathers Care for their Sons
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 7:28 PM
Too true, but too sAd for me today.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 7:30 PM
I personally think the ups outweigh the downer moments. Brothers
reconcile, brothers get dad back, another son mends his relationship
with his dad. (edited)
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 7:31 PM
I hope you are right.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 7:31 PM
It's an awesome movie. The sequels are middling to ok, but that
first one is gold.
[7:32 PM]
Make sure if you're going to watch it, you're watching the right
one, though. This came out in the 90s.
1990.
[7:36 PM]
When done right, Brotherhood is a strong theme in TMNT movies,
because of course it deals with four brothers. A father imparting
wisdom is also a strong component. Nevermind the father is a rat and
his sons are four turtles, heh.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 7:39 PM
It has sad moments, of course, so if you're not going to be ready
for those don't watch it right now, but there's action too.
[7:40 PM]
Dad saves the day if that helps, heh.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 7:49 PM
Sorry...I got a call from my younger sister wishing me a happy
Father's Day....had to take it.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 7:49 PM
No worries, that's the kind of call to take today.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 7:50 PM
Were you able to call your Dad today?
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 7:50 PM
They don't make phones or phone numbers where he is.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 7:51 PM
I am sorry. I did not mean to intrude on personal matters.
[7:52 PM]
My Father died at 99 years of age in 2014. My Mom passed away at 95
in 2018. I am glad to say that they both were alert and aware until
the day they passed. One cannot ask for more than that, I suppose.
The little picture I use by my name was taken at my parents'
breakfast table in their kitchen.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 7:52 PM
Surrounded by family, preferrably generations of children and
(great- x3 or 4)grandchildren would be nice.
[7:53 PM]
One can ask for a lot, heh. What one can expect is a different
story.

[7:56 PM]
My Father was already gone. I would drive or fly to New York every
three weeks to see my Mother as soon as I could. Those were some of
the best visits of my life.
[7:57 PM]
Yes. Life comes with no guarantees....probably the very best reason
to enjoy every moment as it comes.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 7:58 PM
As best as one can, heh. Purpose at least is important.
[7:59 PM]
If you're gonna suffer, at least suffer for a goal, lol.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 7:59 PM
Very true, Eonwe. You are a man of wisdom.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:01 PM
I know what I know, and I have a good idea of some of what I don't.
Guess that's about as wise as anyone can be :}
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:01 PM
You betcha, Digger!
[8:02 PM]
The wise man knows how much he does not know.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:03 PM
Or at least that there are things he doesn't know, and he's willing
to examine evidence and change his mind when warranted.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:04 PM
Absolute..
ly
That is the basis of the scientific method.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:06 PM
Aye.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:06 PM
As I typed up the above reply, I glanced over at my bookshelf right
by my desk, where to this day I keep my copy of "The Nature or the
Natural Sciences." To fill some ccredit hours my Senior year at
Lafayette, I took a course ib Philosophy. One of the best course I
have ever had the pleasure to enjoy throughout my entire undergrad
and post-grad career.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:08 PM
I still have an Intro to Philosphy book around here somewhere.
Probably forgot most of that class, not to say it wasn't interesting
when I took it. I've forgotten more interesting classes too, heh.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:09 PM
Don't we all.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:09 PM
I'm going to need another drink.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:09 PM
Aiya Taglos!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:11 PM
I only ever took one class that was a complete waste of time,
because the only thing I learned from that class was literally that
it was a complete waste of time.
Greetings Taglos.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:11 PM
Hey hey
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:12 PM
It is a pleasure to meet you, Taglos! I do not believe that I hae
run into on Discord before.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:13 PM
You have not, that's the first thing I've typed since Osse invited
me a week or so ago.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:14 PM
Welcome, then!
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:14 PM
I was a Guild member a long time ago
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:14 PM
Your name brings back really old memories, and I'm rather curious if
you're connected to them or if you're someone entirely new.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:14 PM
Welcome back, then, I should say. You predate me.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:16 PM
That depends Eonwe, Taglos/Aule
Thank you Sandalf, good to be here
Still can't type on this new keyboard
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:17 PM
You happen to remember the old bnet days, a little chatbot we had
going?
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:17 PM
Yeah, playing D1 most of the time.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:19 PM
Well it's been many a year since we last spoke then. I hope you've
been well.
[8:21 PM]
Many a year might be an understatement, now that I start thinking
about it, heh.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:21 PM
Yeah it's been a minute. I played Everquest with Ulmo for
awhile and kept in touch with Varda for a bit, but its been a
few years.
[8:22 PM]
I was looking at some of the member names wondering if anyone was
the same.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:24 PM
Varda and Fangorn obviously, Irmo depends. Me I suppose it depends
on which Eonwë you still remember.
[8:25 PM]
Think everyone else with the possible exception of Phar might be too
new.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:27 PM
When did you take on the mantle of Eonwe? were you someone
else prior? I know we used o change names upon rank
change. Vala/Maia etc.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:28 PM
You were still around when I became Eonwë, so you might still
remember me as that, but if you don't you might recognize Valacirca
or Aragorn.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:29 PM
I know Osse is still Osse, I've also known him since I was 5 hehe
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:29 PM
hehe
[8:31 PM]
No hard feelings if you don't recognize me at all, it's been that
long, but I've been here for 24 years in November, heh.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:31 PM
Wow. Almost as old as I am, he he.4
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:34 PM
That's the tricky thing. I remember you, just uh there's a
lack of details Varda I remember more about.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:35 PM
If it helps, I'm also the only Vala Eonwë. The previous Eonwë was a
Maia.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:36 PM
I still have the bio files some people filled out, not sure why but
yeah lol
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:36 PM
hehe
What's the last website URL you remember? Hehe.
[8:37 PM]
For the guild, of course, lol.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:37 PM
I updated to the new one and registered
[8:38 PM]
However the old link I had didn't work, so one sec\
[8:41 PM]
Guess because it didnt load, it didnt create a hstory entry
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:42 PM
Aiya! Aule, is it?
I'm not sure if I've met you before, though I do go back to Warcraft
3 / battle.net days.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:42 PM
It is indeed.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:43 PM
You may have met the previous Pharazon, though, before me.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:43 PM
I would have active in the early 2000s, though tyhye exact year
escapes me
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:44 PM
The real question is does Aulë remember the name of the chatbot we
had? :} Lol.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:44 PM
and my typing escapes me too
[8:45 PM]
Oh boy that's going to take a minute
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:48 PM
In the meantime, I'll start my weekly Personal Gaming Report
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 8:48 PM
I will leave you old friends to your reminisces. Ooops...I will hang
on a bit longer to read Ar's report. I just wish I was a gamer so
that I could advance in the Guild.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:49 PM
Ive been sticking it to Diable, like the good ole days
[8:50 PM]
Diablo
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:50 PM
hehe
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:50 PM
For (non)flashgaming, here's
https://www.kongregate.com/games/KekGames/rhomb
for this week! A puzzle game where you have to untie a bunch of
rhombuses in the right order to not get have them blocked by each
other.
Kongregate
Rhomb
Untie a knot of rhombuses.
[8:51 PM]
New features further in the game, such as switches that require
alternating.
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:51 PM
I remember there being a chat bot, but you could give me a week and
I wouldn't remember.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:52 PM
So, a lot of planning needed, or just trial and error
[8:53 PM]
Blizzard Gaming:
Well, let's start with Diablo 4 then
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:53 PM
I remember you could ask it when someone had been last seen and what
not.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:55 PM
It's been quite a while, no worries. Just curious, heh.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:56 PM
Got my bear druid from level 13 to 26 (double? just coincidence),
and set up quite a nice ability combo. Mostly bear abilities,
including the Ultimate, Dire Werebear. No longer need the wolf
healing ability since I'm getting passive regen from other things
now, but I did add the wolf companion ability, so now I've got 2
wolves accompanying me
Taglos — Yesterday at 8:56 PM
We used it to keep channel control on Bnet right? Since first
to enter had the gavel?
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:56 PM
Aye.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:57 PM
Also unlocked Spirit Boons, the special druid feature, where you
collect offerings to unlock boons from 4 different spirits, and you
can choose a boon from each spirit as permanent passive. Once you've
unlocked all 16 boons you also get to use a fifth boon. Only a few
more offerings remain! One of the boons I've got equipped is a 3%
heal every time I crit which is pretty useful.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:57 PM
Had to protect our Buddies from unscrupulous people :}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:59 PM
Druid's been doing so many side quests that, while still only in act
1, he's a bit overleveled for this zone. Not that you can outlevel
the enemies, but at this rate completing the campaign is going way
too slowly So I decided to stop doing side quests, focusing on
continuing the main quest instead, as I've chased Lilith into the
mines, and then collected a blessing needed from Prava and Inarius
himself. Hopefully the end of Act 1 will soon be in sight! I did
unlock renown rank 2, though.
[9:02 PM]
Hearthstone: Rank 93 now on the reward track. If I don't get 100 in
the next week, then it'll be the week after!
[9:03 PM]
Brawl is the same brawl as last week, Dark Wanderer/Diablo. While
last week I built one efficient deck that got him down in one go
several times, this time around I made some custom silly decks to
complete quests I got along the way, even if it meant that, using
the permanent progress of this brawl, I had to take about half a
dozen tries to bring him down. So it's not very efficient
Kinda fun though!
WoW:
[9:05 PM]
Raiding continues! Fifth raidboss down on heroic difficulty. Quite a
gear check on a tight timer, since you can only reset the boss's
energy twice, giving you 3 boss cycles to bring him down. But we did
get it, so that bodes well
[9:06 PM]
4 bosses to go!
Treasure goblin event has now ended, though a new D4 event is going,
giving increased experience and reputation for about a month. The
experience should help out with the horde alts I'm making
[9:07 PM]
Got no new 36-slot bag for the warrior, nor the last Wirt's Leg,
which I ended up buying from the AH instead afterward.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:08 PM
Don't think I can stand to spend enough time on alts in WoW to make
a difference, heh.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:08 PM
I don't play them very often, but Project Horde's still ongoing
since we got cross-faction guild feature, and I just like getting
them to level 10 so I can mog them and link them
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:08 PM
At this point I do enough to check the Trading Post boxes and that's
it. Not enough exciting for me to do otherwise.
[9:09 PM]
Maybe a world boss and/or a suffusion camp.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:09 PM
Well, that's my next point I completed the 1000 tender for the
Trading Post this week
[9:10 PM]
That got me Quawks the parrot mount as the 1000 reward, and the
Cindermane Charger mount for the currency Got the wasp mount
frozen, we'll see what next month brings so I know whether I'll buy
it then.
Quite wanted the horsy for my fire mage
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:10 PM
I'd probably be running my Dunadan if D2 didn't look so horribly
small on my screen.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:10 PM
Heh. Tried D4?
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:11 PM
Nope, not terribly interested.
Not saying I won't ever get it, but it's not on my list.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:11 PM
Anyway, weekly is pandaria timewalks, where I got a new necklace for
feral spec. Oh, and I got some new raid items as well, including a
new heroic weapon.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:12 PM
I suppose I could say "Not terrorbly interested" but the pun relies
on you knowing Diablo was the Lord of Terror :}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:12 PM
And I got enough draenic seeds to buy my next farm implement
transmog, the Garden Pitchfork 2000 seeds worth of items to
go!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:12 PM
Congrats :}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:12 PM
Thanks
[9:12 PM]
Finally, alting!
[9:14 PM]
With the firemage, continued into Ardenweald. I did the dream quests
surrounding Ysera, getting into her dreams and dispelling
nightmares, before reliving her death from her perspective. Fun to
see my hero have a cameo during that dream, even though I'm pretty
sure she never actually faced Ysera as she didn't quest in
Val'sharah
[9:15 PM]
After that I did a few more quests preparing for the attack on
Hibernal Hollow, and am now at the edge of the big battle quest to
defend the place.
[9:16 PM]
The new orc warlock, however, continued questing in Durotar, getting
from level 6 to level 9. She completed the Valley of Trials as well
as the quests around Sen'jin Village. Next time she should reach
level 10 in Razor Hill, and then it's time for the next alt, blood
elf paladin. Might be cliche, but I have a special theme for her in
mind
[9:18 PM]
And that's my report for the week! I'll leave you to catch up some
more
Namarie!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:19 PM
Sleep well Phar.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:19 PM
Thanks, you too
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:21 PM
Night
[9:22 PM]
I do remember both Ar Pharazons, Im almost certain the first is now
Osse
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 9:22 PM
I might be the third then. I recall a story about a Pharazon before
me who wasn't all that nice.
[9:23 PM]
Right, I'm sure other people will know more about that. Goodnight
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:23 PM
Yeah, Ossë was Ossë before this Phar came in, so there was at least
one Phar in between.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:25 PM
Gotcha, I remember some bad apples but dont ask me any names
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:25 PM
hehe
[9:26 PM]
So I also shouldn't ask questions like "Where were you on the 39th
of February?" lol.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:27 PM
Which year?
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:27 PM
The one where February has 39 days of course :}
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:27 PM
Ah good ole 2072
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:28 PM
The earth's rotation sped up so fast, we added 11 leap-days to
compensate. What a year.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:29 PM
I still don't know why they didn't spread them out
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:30 PM
All the other months refused to take these poor days in, but there
was plenty of room in February.
We couldn't just leave them monthless. What are we, Elves? Hobbits?
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:30 PM
haha
[9:31 PM]
Dwarves man, its all about those short bearded guys.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:32 PM
Peter Jackson?
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:34 PM
Is that why he made The Hobbit into 3 movies? Dwarven fetish?
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:34 PM
I choose not to comment.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:35 PM
As Aule I need to root for them, but Peter..l seek help
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:36 PM
There were some good things about The Hobbit Trilogy.... and alot of
bad things. Especially the extended editions.
[9:37 PM]
Rankin-Bass still made the definitive version to me.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:38 PM
I rewatched them recently, they're fine. Two movies may have
been better.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:39 PM
They did feel stretched, but I didn't need Dwarves bathing in an Elf
fountain.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:39 PM
Its been so long since Ive actually read any of the books.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:40 PM
I also didn't need those things the Master of Laketown was eating. I
watched the commentary, and he admits he basically pushed it on both
of those.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:40 PM
Yeah, they could have cut that, and about 2 and a half more hours
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:41 PM
The additional Angmar/ White Council stuff wasn't bad.
The implied love story between Gandalf and Galadriel was too much.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:42 PM
I remember people freaking about Tauriel, she was fine.
I didn't say they were perfect, I said they were fine
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:42 PM
The problem with her was she wasn't in the book. The problem with
the movies is alot of stuff that wasn't in the book, heh.
hehehe
[9:43 PM]
As you said, two movies would've sufficed. Could've excised alot of
stuff people hated and still had 2 solid movies, maybe a little
longer than normal.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:43 PM
Yeah, and that it was a female, females are bad!
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:44 PM
No, otherwise people would've hated Eowyn and Galadriel.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:45 PM
They were in the books though
People hated Arwens expanded role
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:45 PM
I didn't like Arwen's use at the Fords in FotR because it wasn't her
in the books that was there, and it wasn't her characterizaion that
we had.
And her "come and claim him" just felt cheesy at best.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:46 PM
I dont disagree.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:46 PM
I say this while knowing everything Tolkien says in Laws and
Customs of the Eldar.
[9:47 PM]
Arwen didn't fit there. Tauriel, meh. Her problem was she was a made
up character in a made up romance. And of course by "made up" I mean
"not in the book".
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:47 PM
They needed a bigger part for Liv Tyler of all people. Nothing
against her, but shes not a super big A lister.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:48 PM
I don't particularly care she (Tauriel) was chopping orc-heads off
or whatever.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:48 PM
I liked the pairing with Legolas\
[9:49 PM]
Not so much the love story
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:49 PM
Sorry, afk for a minute.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:50 PM
No worries
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 9:56 PM
Namarie all, once again. I must away, ere break of day! Paddock
calls, anon, and all that.
Taglos — Yesterday at 9:57 PM
Night Sandalf
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 10:02 PM
Back.
Sleep well Sandalf.
The romance I'm talking about is with... Kili I think it was.
Taglos — Yesterday at 10:02 PM
Sounds right
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 10:04 PM
With Legolas it might've been interesting. With Kili it felt like a
bad reason to deliver terrible one-liners and get her to go to
Laketown. (edited)
Taglos — Yesterday at 10:04 PM
Yeah, I thought the action pairing with Legolas was good.
[10:05 PM]
The romantic pairing, blah
They have to add romance to everything
[10:06 PM]
I blame James Cameron
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 10:06 PM
hehe
Taglos — Yesterday at 10:06 PM
Just let the boat sink...
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 10:07 PM
hehe
Taglos — Yesterday at 10:24 PM
That's it for me. Nice chatting with you Eonwe.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 10:25 PM
Likewise.
Take care Aulë.
Taglos — Yesterday at 10:26 PM
You as well fancy accent man
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 10:26 PM
hehe
[10:29 PM]
Oh, gotta share this on Father's Day too. This is just so hilarious
