Hello to Eowyn and Treebeard who are in Starcraft 2 right now
Sandalf13 — Today at 4:06 PM
I signed up for a 1.5 hour tutorial on LoTRO at the Wright Farms
Branch of the Anythink Rangeview Libraries.
Varda — Today at 4:06 PM
Hope they aren't charging you money
Sandalf13 — Today at 4:06 PM
And "Anythink" is not a typo...that is the real name of the library
system. No, the tutorial is FREE! FREE!

Varda — Today at 4:08 PM
Anyway, that sounds really cool
Sandalf13 — Today at 4:09 PM
Yes. I made the apron above at the library studio. The contour map
on the bottom is not very legible, but it is a contour map I made of
the picture above it. Very geologic.
[4:09 PM]
sort of.
Varda — Today at 4:10 PM
ahh interesting : )
[4:10 PM]
Flattened it out a bit though? : )
[4:10 PM]
The tree pic is lovely
[4:11 PM]
Do you use the apron?
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:11 PM
I always loved making contour maps in college...
[4:11 PM]
Looking good, too!
Varda — Today at 4:11 PM
Looks like an art form of its own, the contour map
Sandalf13 — Today at 4:11 PM
The contour map was modified to sort of represent the picture, but
it isn't a very good map. I had to use one that I found online and
try to make it fit, without much success, as you have already noted.
[4:12 PM]
Contour maps prepared by geologists ARE artworks, of a sort.
[4:12 PM]
And no...it is too pretty to use. Maybe on very special occasions.

Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:25 PM
Now, you're not suggesting that She-Ra is a Numenorean Queen, are
you? :}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:25 PM
At least she's better dressed than He-man.

Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:27 PM

needed?
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:29 PM
Only problem is his enemies are dressed the same, lol. If a regular

[4:30 PM]
On to
top
Tolkien!
[4:30 PM]
If you have a topic, speak up fast before mine comes up. ; )
[4:31 PM]
Ok.
[4:32 PM]
I was reading the description of the Ent attack on Orthanc
and was struck by the real difference between it and the movie.
One was a spectacle of a land tsunami
One was a study in creepy.
[4:33 PM]
Love to put some of our artists to work on the book version!
Also, Treebeard put a lot of thought into his plan.
In the movies, the visuals need to be spectacular in the fashion of
fast movement, loud noise, and moving the story quickly, while not
breaking the budget.
In the books, the action can be just as amazing but told without
regard to how much the scenery costs or the length of time.
[4:34 PM]
But still, would have been interesting to see it on the big screen
too.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:34 PM
Though one of the most commonly heard criticisms of Tolkien's work
is that the scenes might take a bit too long
Cenedra — Today at 4:34 PM
Heya
Varda — Today at 4:34 PM
Another criticism is the book is too short. ; )
[4:35 PM]
Eowyn! Aiya : )
Treebeard — Today at 4:35 PM
Hello
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:35 PM
hehe
Aiya!
Varda — Today at 4:35 PM
Aiya Treebeard! Ears burning?
Sandalf13 — Today at 4:35 PM
Aiya Cenedra!
Aiya Treebeard!
Varda — Today at 4:36 PM
Treebeard held back his Ents and Huorns while Saruman emptied
Isengard's armies to go to Rohan.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:36 PM
For an ent to have his ears on fire, seems dangerous.
Varda — Today at 4:36 PM
Their business was with Isengard. Still, some of the Huorns with
their hatred of orcs followed them.
[4:37 PM]
Then Treebeard let his people attack, letting go of that pent-up
energy. The walls were as nothing to them.
Treebeard — Today at 4:37 PM
Fangorn wimbled and attacked when he saw that the trees were gone
Varda — Today at 4:37 PM
As Treebeard's people let off some steam destroying Isengard, they
saw the lay of all within and learned that the Tower of Orthanc
could not be pulled down the way they easily had all the other
structures, due to magic before Saruman came.
Arien Valar — Today at 4:38 PM
back and hallo fangorn :)
Treebeard — Today at 4:38 PM
Hi ya
Varda — Today at 4:38 PM
Aiyata, Sunshine : )
Arien Valar — Today at 4:38 PM
aiy cenedra :)
Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
Damage immunity.
Varda — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
After taking some casualties, they were willing to listen to the
plan Treebeard had apparently settled on well before, as he was
already familiar with Isengard.
Sandalf13 — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
I wonder what their insurance costs...
Varda — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
Patience was needed for the next part. The ents and huorns take all
night making trenches and pools to collect water from not just the
Isen but every other stream and body of water in the area.
[4:39 PM]
But then...
Treebeard — Yesterday at 4:39 PM
They paid by making social commitments to each other insuring that
Sauron didn't win.
Varda — Yesterday at 4:39 PM
: )
The Two Towers, "Flotsam and Jetsam" as told by
Pippin.
"It must have been about midnight when the Ents broke
the dams and poured all the gathered waters through a gap in the
northern wall, down into Isengard.
The Huorn-dark had passed, and the thunder had rolled away. The
Moon was sinking behind the western mountains.
"Isengard began to fill up with black creeping streams and pools.
They glittered in the last light of the Moon, as they spread over
the plain.
Every now and then the waters found their way down into some shaft
or spouthole.
Great white steams hissed up.
Treebeard — Today at 4:40 PM
I'll bet the sewers backed up too
Varda — Today at 4:41 PM
Smoke rose in billows.
There were explosions and gusts of fire.
One great coil of vapour went whirling up, twisting round and
round Orthanc, until it looked like a tall peak of cloud, fiery
underneath and moonlit above.
And still more water poured in, until at last Isengard looked like
a huge flat saucepan, all steaming and bubbling."
End quote.
[4:42 PM]
Treebeard, sounds as if all the sewers were cleaned out too. : )
Sandalf13 — Today at 4:42 PM
Recalling the Teton Dam Disaster, I wonder if Fangorn consulted a
geologist before putting his plan into action.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:42 PM
The sewers, the furnaces below...
[4:43 PM]
The coil of vapour reminds me of one of the Discworld novels,
though the magic in there is a bit more abstract
Where a tower was at the same time 20 steps and 500 feet tall, and
the clouds tried to go over it, through it and around it at the same
time...
Varda — Today at 4:44 PM
Came before Discworld, but aye.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:44 PM
...and the place ended up being struck by lightning at every height
at once.
Oh sure, but still reminds me
Arien Valar — Today at 4:44 PM
Oh i bet the underground forges and tanning cobbling industry
used for making weapons and arour were flooded and made unusuable
Varda — Today at 4:44 PM
No resupply for Saruman!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:44 PM
Hmhm, hence the white steam spouting up, is my guess.
Varda — Today at 4:45 PM
Aye, cool scene, plenty of Discworld originality in there. :
)
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:46 PM
Like the cloud/vapour trying to envelop Orthanc, but its magic
repels it, so it spirals up around it...
just lacking the lightning
Arien Valar — Today at 4:46 PM
but he was clever enough to make sure that it didn t cave in which
would have made a reuse as watchwood impossible so yeah i
guess there was some geological knowledge
[4:47 PM]
which would make sense as guardian that came from Yavanne if i
remember rightly
Varda — Today at 4:48 PM
Fangorn? Aye, the Ents were the guardians Yavanna brought into the
Song.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:48 PM
Heh, using a natural river to flood a furnace... it does seem like
something the ents would do in their opposite nature to dwarves.
Varda — Today at 4:48 PM
Good point!
Arien Valar — Today at 4:48 PM
hahaha aye
[4:49 PM]
and amusing thought but yeah to the point
Varda — Today at 4:50 PM
Best kind of point? : )
[4:51 PM]
Pippin, as describer, comes up with the saucepan comparison.

Inverlochy Castle
Inverlochy Castle (Scottish Gaelic: Caisteal
Inbhir Lòchaidh) is a ruined, 13th-century castle near Inverlochy
and Fort William, Highland, Scotland.
The site of two battles, the castle remains
largely unchanged since its construction. It is now in the care of
Historic Environment Scotland.

is a puzzle game where you have to unfold tiles in symmetric ways to
complete the figure. Tiles of the same color that touch, unfold
together, so you need to build up from small to large... without
blocking your own progress. But luckily there is an undo button

So yeah, if you like the game, the creator's got more in the series
as well as other simple puzzle games, like https://www.kongregate.com/games/FreeGames_org/fill-maze
which I just played, where you roll around a maze coloring all the
squares

Diablo 4:
Sandalf13 — Today at 8:08 PM
I'm playing Kongregate Fill Maze.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:08 PM
With season 1 announced for less than 2 weeks from now, I thought
I'd dedicate a bunch of my WoW time to Diablo 4 instead, seeing if I
could get the campaign done before season 1 starts.
Ah, enjoy
[8:10 PM]
Since you need to complete the campaign to even be able to join the
season, and any renown you have unlocked before the season starts
also sticks with your seasonal character, I thought it interesting
to try and not only finish the campaign, but also get as much renown
as possible.
[8:12 PM]
So I completed act 2, defeating the demon Astaroth, then went
through act 3, chasing down Elias through the Dry Steppes and
Kehjistan - first time I realized it's not just one act per region -
and even completed Act 4, which is a shorter act, ending with the
defeat of the Lesser Evil Andariel.
[8:13 PM]
Now I'm into Act 5, the longest of the bunch from what I can tell,
in the region of Hawezar, as we try to attune a soulstone to capture
Lilith, and find the key to Elias' immortality so we can take him
down as well.
[8:15 PM]
Along the way, I've gotten my druid from level 34 to 42. Supposedly
difficulty tiers 1 and 2, including the campaign, only scale up to
50, so the levels might grind to a halt soon enough. But we'll see.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:16 PM
I've also discovered a few Altars of Lilith, not only unlocking some
free bonus stats for all characters on my account, but also a
paragon point. Which I can't use yet because the system doesn't
unlock until 50 But my abilities' levels are progressing
nicely anyway.
[8:17 PM]
Oh, and halfway through Act 4, I unlocked mounts! Got the first
horse unlocked, but also had another horse and some horse armor from
the pre-order. So now I can ride a lot faster through the regions!
Though I still like to take down mobs and treasures along the way,
so it's not a constant ride
And mounts will stay unlocked as well for any alts, so that's nice.
[8:19 PM]
Oh, and unlocked some legendary rewards as well, but usually swiftly
outleveled/geared them... though I will mention a necklace I got
with bearform buff-stats and a massive attackspeed increase on basic
skills, which helps me quite a lot. Quite happy with that one,
though I'm sure I'll outgear that one soon as well...
[8:20 PM]
Next week, I hope to complete the campaign and maybe get some renown
before the season starts the week after
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:24 PM
Hearthstone:
Made it to level 117, getting a bunch more gold. Soon enough I
should be able to buy the golden miniset for the current expansion.
[8:25 PM]
Also completed the current event quest - Twist - A New Age,
involving the new Twist game mode. As said before, I'm not good at
making decks to fit certain conditions like the Twist mode, but a
pre-filled deck usually works well enough, and I did manage to
complete some other quests with it as well
[8:26 PM]
Brawl is Visions of Sayge. Choose a class, get a random deck, and
each turn you choose between 2 cards. You get one for yourself, the
other goes to your opponent.
[8:27 PM]
Seems rather strategic, but I soon found out that it means you get 3
cards added to your hand per turn, so your hand fills up quickly,
ending up with burning cards from your deck and getting fewer from
both players...
so when I had to choose my card, I pretty much always choose the one
with lower mana cost so I can hopefully keep playing multiple cards
per turn, and make maximum use of the effect.
[8:28 PM]
That seems to work well enough
[8:29 PM]
Oh, and got the new card back for July unlocked, Year of the Hydra.
Looks quite fancy.
[8:30 PM]
WoW:
[8:30 PM]
More raiding! We managed to get the 8th boss down on heroic, Echo of
Neltharion, with only Sarkareth remaining. He's got some new
abilities on heroic difficulty as well, and it might be some time
before we get him down.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:32 PM
Weekly is timewalks, Draenor style! Had a couple of runs in the
train instance, which is always fun. The reward wasn't an upgrade,
though. But I did get trading post currency from doing 5 of them, so
that's nice.
[8:34 PM]
Finally, alting... which has come to a complete stop. I did get one
more level on my blood elf paladin on tuesday, getting her to 5, but
then I heard about the D4 season coming up and spent all my alting
time there instead. So probably no alting next week either.
[8:35 PM]
So many things to do, so little time
[8:36 PM]
And next week... I do believe patch will come out, but I'm not
bothering with the activities yet. If my raidgroup manages to get
some mega-dungeoning going I'll want to join, though, since there's
a title involved if you finish it before the next patch.
Otherwise... eh, it'll come in the future.
[8:37 PM]
And that's my report for the week!
Sandalf13 — Today at 8:46 PM

Watching so many WOW classic videos lately. I don't know
why. I think WOW is calling me home. Although, I am conflicted if I
should go back to Retail.. things may of changed too much for
me. And its likely my Paladin is completely Nerfed now or something
like that (edited)
