me for cakes! (two!) Fudge chocolate and an incredible strawberry

A real wintry day here today...started out at 10 Grad F, but
warmed up to 31 Grad F, but quite windy....felt a lot colder, and
though sunny, the sunlight seemed very thin. I am glad to be
snuggled in at home, and sharing my time with you all.

Yes! Friday was Veterans Day here in the States, and I scored some
great deals: I got a free donuyt at Dunkin, free coffee at
Starbucks, free coffee and a donut at LeMars donuts...but theyt
were out of donuts, so they gave me a coupon for not one, but a
DOZEN free donuts...I got coupons for a free combo meal at
Freddy's, and also a coupon for a free dinner at Texas Roadhouse.
Not a bad haul! I had dinner Friday evening with another Vet at
Olive Garden, and I am having the leftovers for dinner tonight!

As for my member news, apart from my pc being in the shop and me
sitting here at my dad's really slow pc - they actually called me
around closing time yesterday but I couldn't catch it in time so
gotta call back tomorrow - I also have a job interview on tuesday!
So lots of developments.

There's been talk in the EU for years about abolishing it, though
some countries seem to prefer DST over "normal", as
internationally obstructive as that sounds. Nothing's being
decided yet though.

Yes. No problems here...but it does get dark early. We are still
on the western edge of the Central Time Zone...a three hour drive
to the west gets one into Mountain Time...the good thing in that
is that sunset is later here than it is in Chicago, for example,
but the sun also rises a lot later than it does there.. I would
rather stay in one time zone all year round also!

At the risk of bringing in WoW again, it's kind of like Calia
Menethil... in contrast to the other undead in Warcraft (compare
to those to the wraiths and others who have gone "transparent"
through Sauron's power), her resurrection came not from the power
of death/decay but through the Light, giving her a more shiny,
marble appearance.

Consider the change in Aragorn as he grew into his role as "the
hope of Men..." At first, on the Plains of Rohan, Legolas saw a
white flame on Aragorn's brow, and at his coronation, Aragorn was
bathed in white light...a gift from the Valar, perhaps?

New navy ships, big Factional Warfare updates & ship emblems

At a high level, there's 16 new navy ships. Each empire got a new
navy exploration frigate, destroyer, battlecruiser, and
dreadnought. Along with this there's been a massive facelift to
Factional Warfare, with the old tier system being replaced by a
Frontline system. They also reworked plex restrictions and added
new objectives (and nerfed missions hooray!).

Additional changes include new docking restrictions for criminals
in highsec, null ratting changes, and just a whole slew of QoL
improvements, further cementing CCP Karkur as one of the best
humans around.

As part of the expansion, CCP has continued the Arc it's been
working on, which saw the Turnur star explode
(https://youtu.be/Y6rxaIaNyIs) due to the Amarrian stellar
transmuter, destroying the Turnur I station and visiting some
incredible destruction on Turnur I. The transmuters in Vard
and Egmar remain in Minmatar hands and confidence is high that
they can be safely shut down, but we'll see.

This was a notable event not just for the destruction but because
CCP did this live, instead of during downtime. Player ships in the
system were set to 20% hull, stargates were turned off, and some
structures anchored at the sun were destroyed, all live!

It's hopefully a sign of things to come with CCP doing more (and
more elaborate) live events.

In personal news, my alliance competed in the Alliance Tournament
this weekend after making it through the feeders last month.
Sadly, we did not replicate our success and lost earlier today for
an 0-2 record. However, many of our team members were young
players, most had never been in the AT before, and many with <4
years in the game at all. We didn't do badly, either, so overall
while I'm disappointed we didn't make it I'm pretty proud of our
team.

No relation between her and my Cal-characters, anyway Though
Calia, as Arthas' sister (remember Arthas?) has been around in
novel form since Day of the Dragon, though her first in-game
appearance was in Legion.

A number/pixel puzzle game, wrapping a lot of this type of game
into one, with a variety of clue types, including nonograms,
minesweeper-like games, and others.

Use all the different hints in combination to figure out which
tiles to color and which not, in many levels a picture emerging

I'd played this game more often already, including this week's
badge, but earlier this week I decided to poke the rest of the
levels for the 150 levels badge, including all the challenge
levels. Making it quite tricky!

I don't have my notes, so I considered skipping this part of the
report and doing a double one next week but I might as well see
what I can remember. I do have Hearthstone installed here now -
though very slow - so I could finish the quest event on time.

Hearthstone: 120 on the reward track now. Not much progress, but
it's all just gold at this point. Game is so slow on this one that
I've only done the minimum to complete the Knights of Hallow's End
reward track and main quests, leaving aside all daily and weekly
quests that are normally there.

Looks like the weekly quests stay, though, if not completed, which
should make next week a bit easier.

The event track was fun, though the later quests were quite
difficult. I'd set up a special deck for the last one, playing
death knight cards from Arfus' death rattle, and even then only
managed at most 1 per match. Still, got it done, and the Banshee
Tyrande skin for priest class is mine

I did decide to try the tavern brawl, which is Battle of Tol
Barad: Play minions, get a random spell of the minion's cost, but
playable for free.

Plucked a demon hunter deck from the web mostly centering about 1
or 2 cards, but ended up winning without using that particular
card, just using irondeep troggs to sabotage enemy spellcasting
and flooding the board with cheap minions and thus spells myself.

No raiding still, though I did get a few weapons in the old school
raid. Might actually send in the upcoming Drac'thyr instead of my
rogue one of these weeks, since it starts at 58 and wears mail.

Weekly is timewalks, pandaria, and while I did manage 3 of those,
I won't be able to finish it before the end of the reset. Ah well.

Logged 10 more alts for the anniversary. I do want to log the rest
as well before it's over.

Mage did a bunch more worldbosses, though no new appearances I
recall.

I managed to get the hunter to level 30, unlocking flight and the
ability to get loot from the anniversary worldbosses. She, unlike
the level 51 mage, can't use the groupfinder at her level, but
waiting at the bosses would reasonably soonish turn up people
gathering there, at which point I could manually request to join
the group.

No mail appearances, but got a nice green crossbow from one of the
green dragons. Since she's into crossbows, it's a very nice gain

And she was just on her way to a worldboss on her second or third
day, I think, when my PSU died. But there's still a bit of time to
go, so might get some anniversary stuff yet before it's over.

In any case, she did make it to level 31 through said bosses,
getting more talents in her pet / kill command / kill shot combo.
Seems to work nicely.

She actually seems to survive easier than the mage, but I suppose
that's because the bosses scale anyway, so her low level isn't
that impactful. Mages are just squishier!

My DK in classic did get a few quests done, infiltrating the
Scarlet Onslaught and preparing to take on their armies, which
will be the last section before attacking Light's Hope. Once I can
play again, she'll have some catching up to do, though, promotion
doesn't last too much longer.

She did get to 58, getting a couple more abilities, including the
Bloodboil AoE, I recall.

And that's my report for this week! Next week, assuming my PC's
ok, I'll be making my Drac'thyr based on the design I posted in
the screenshots channel back in... July? Been a while! But I still
love the way he looks.

WoW Pre-expansion event now going. Among the recent hotfixes,
mount droprates on WoD and MoP world bossed were "greatly
increased". Not sure how much that means though. when increasing
from .000000001 to .00001 is still "greatly increased", lol :}
