Pallando, you had some comments?

Pallando-Valar — 05/22/2022
Eve Online: No official news of any sort recently. Likely some weeks or months before we see anything of note from Fanfest.

Varda — 05/22/2022
But of note from you on what you're up to? : )

Pallando-Valar — 05/22/2022
Personally, we're involved in a nice big war, defending some innocent miners from a whole bunch of ne'er-do-wells. We had a fight just last week where we showed them what-for.

Aiya all!

Pallando-Valar — 05/22/2022
The situation keeps evolving, so we'll see how it goes.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Aiya!

Defending miners from evil raiders. I think I've seen movies like that.

Pallando-Valar — 05/22/2022
As ever, if you want to try out Eve with some good people, we're recruiting..  We even have a sizable EU contingent these days!

Varda — 05/22/2022
Aiya Sandalf : )

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
A bit Magnificent Seven like.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Interesting! Thanks, Pallando!
[4:14 PM]
I hope our Sauron manages to keep mining ok too. : )

Pallando-Valar — 05/22/2022
(if you don't want to fly with us, I do also maintain a Valar Guild corporation if you want to stick to that. :))

Varda — 05/22/2022
Tougher to put one character in one and one in the other in Eve. Pretty much need to stick to a main.

Pallando-Valar — 05/22/2022
It's hard to play both with a single account.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Aye : )

Pallando-Valar — 05/22/2022
Putting characters is easy, and I multibox myself, but I've been very careful to keep VG away from my other activities.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Good to know.

Pallando-Valar — 05/22/2022
that's it for me

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
I have started playing LoTRO on the Landroval server. Varda is a big help.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Thank you.

And thank you, Sandalf.

About LotRO, here is something like a giant manual for help:

Tolkien!
[4:23 PM]
If you have a topic or question, go ahead and mention it now. And the RP  story. I have a topic ready to go.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
I do have a note to make to the Group: I was talking with Varda last week and informed her that  I was tracking down a citation to use in the Intro to my book on Tolkien. I found an interesting website sponsored by Swiss Info, a government agency, and found an really neat article about Tolkien's visits to der Schweiz when he was 19 years old. They actually have a Tolkien Museum in the mountains that claims it hgas over 30,000 Tolkien related items. I did manage to converse with Frau Honegger in German, and I got the citation information. Funny: I made my first trip to Switzerland when I was 19 years old also on my way to my Geology Field Camp in the Bavarian Alps with the Free University of Berlin.. Zurich is fascinating....and the food is good too.

Varda — 05/22/2022
hehe
[4:27 PM]
Sounds like an amazing place.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Maybe I can dig out some old photos and post them here sometime. It was a long time ago..1970 summer....52 years ago.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
1970 was a good year
[4:29 PM]
I e
[4:29 PM]
was born that year

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Yay!

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
1970 brought us good things!

Varda — 05/22/2022
That was definitely a good year.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
As a matter of fact, this is just about the time that I was arriving in Oberstdorf, to begin the field camp. My Professor was Herr Doktor Leidholz, who is still alive, I believe, and his associate was Herr Doktor Doktor von Gocht, who had TWO PhDs.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Impressive
[4:35 PM]
Ok, here's a Tolkien topic to play with:
[4:35 PM]
JRRT's intention was to make an explanation for his languages, combining that with his desire to create a mythology/folklore for England since it had none of its very own.
[4:36 PM]
Such a thing gives supernatural or odd  (to us) explanations for why things are as they are.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
nn

Varda — 05/22/2022
Why does the moon move differently than the sun, and not follow the same steady path.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022

Varda — 05/22/2022
Good night, Sandalf.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
namarie!

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
No! That was an accident! I was swatting at an escaped noodle from my Korean Nangsum Glass Noodle Bowl, and it landed on the "n" key. Sprry!

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
:)

Varda — 05/22/2022
heh, no worries! catch the noodle!

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
I did...and it has met its fate.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
It tried to escape.. and failed.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
There is NO escaping the mouth of Sandalf.

Varda — 05/22/2022
hah! The End of the Noodle

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Are any of you familiar with the Flying Spaghetti Monster?
[4:42 PM]
And his Noodly Appendage?

Varda — 05/22/2022
Heard of.
[4:42 PM]
And did you see the intended topic? That kind of fits into folklore there. : )

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Yes it does. Tolkien wanted to write a Kalevala (?) for England.
[4:43 PM]
And the Finns are certainly back in the news these days.

Varda — 05/22/2022
That sort of thing, yes.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Heard of it, and I think I even saw it in a videogame. The spaghetti monster, that is.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Here is a link to a paper I wrote for the Science Creative Quarterly (Vancouver, British Columbia) in support of the FSM:
[4:48 PM]
https://www.scq.ubc.ca/on-the-potential-presence-of-beer-or-beer-like-liquids-in-or-resulting-from-volcanic-emanations/

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
That explains why we humans like beer

Varda — 05/22/2022
Next we will be able to explain carbonated beverages with their CO2. : )
[4:51 PM]
Thank you for sharing that paper.  : )

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Was there a question there, Varda?

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
So the primordial soup was.. beer?

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
I'm not sure if we were waiting for a question or just meant to throw out thoughts.

Varda — 05/22/2022
I'll try again.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Quite possibly.
[4:52 PM]
I sincerely apologize for the digression. One never knows where a noodle will take you.

Varda — 05/22/2022
What examples can we show where JRRT used myth/folklore references to explain natural phenomena?
[4:53 PM]
Those noodles! And my fault for not putting it properly into question form.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Atalant๋/The sinking of Numenor, making the world from flat to round.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Aye
[4:55 PM]
Good one

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Not exactly a "natural" phenomena, but meant to indicate a change from the "mythical" world of the past to the "natural" world of the present.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Well, your sun and moon were indeed good examples, using trees and fruits and boats to put lights in the air.
[4:56 PM]
One could add the morning star as well, using Aerendil (spelling optional) as an explanation for that one bright star calling us to the west.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Earendil.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Thanks

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
You weren't that Phar off (waits for it....).

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
some versions have that, some have an e in there...
[4:56 PM]
har har har

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
:}

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
dragons and their treasures are taken from mythology as well

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
I sees an opportunity for a pun, I takes it :}

Varda — 05/22/2022
The dawn is the bird form of Elwing rising to meet her husband in the sky as he approaches, as he is Earendil the Morning Star.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Gandalf....very closely modeled on Odin, otherwise known as Illuvatar (sp). Both were "killed" in order to achieve greater wisdom.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
How does that relate to a natural phenomenon? The dragons and treasures?

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
that was a misreading of the question sorry .. i thought ift was mythology in Tolkien s middlearth in general

Varda — 05/22/2022
Swamp lights: they give a dim light from the illusory bodies from a great battle in the past. Don't look!

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
I'm curious about the Dawn one. Did that connection come up in the story? (edited)

Varda — 05/22/2022
Yes.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
but if you like .. dragons as origin for a firestorm that destroyed a wooden town ...
[5:02 PM]
a firestorm can be natural but if a dragon is the cause it is not natural so .. probably not

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
I'm going to have to reread that Earendil/Elwing section of the Sil.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Always a good thing to do. : )

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Don't forget that the Dark Elf wanted to throw Earendil over the walls of Gondolin, just like the Greeks threw the little son of the King of Troy over the wall in the Trojan Women. Sad.

Varda — 05/22/2022
I may have to also, as the HoMe tends to mix into my memory.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Tolkien knew his Greek Mythology as well.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
I'm thinking of ents. Changing pathways within forests. I know people simply get lost these days while the paths tend to remain the same, but there is that sensation of the forest ganging up on you, and I like the idea of huorns just moving unseen

Varda — 05/22/2022
There are places, like on a hill, where the grass grows tall and green when the surrounding areas are not like that. Thus we have several places where these are described as burial grounds for heroes.
[5:07 PM]
Flowers that only grow in special places, and explanations for that.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Aye, but some of it would also make sense without necessarily knowing the Greek mythology. If you have a castle and you're up on a wall, one solution leads the villain to be able to say "oops, he just kind of fell off" and the other is "oops, my sword has all this red stuff on it and everyone saw me do it". (edited)
[5:09 PM]
I've read a few different versions of the Fall of Gondolin more recently than the Sil version, so I don't recall how discreet Maeglin was necessarily trying to be off the top of my head, heh. (edited)

Varda — 05/22/2022
heh
[5:09 PM]
Don't think he really wanted seen.
[5:10 PM]
In Middle-earth, we see great mountains and valleys and bodies of water that are said to be put there in those weird formations due to fights between the great Powers that formed the world.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Aye, that's a good one. I liked the mention of flowers growing in special places as well, btw, just got sidetracked before I could mention that one was a good one.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
the act of creation through song

Varda — 05/22/2022
Aye Arien : )

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Uinen's hair = seaweed as I recall.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
i came across this interesting article on quick browsing on google

Varda — 05/22/2022
The words, letters, songs, waters having power left from the time of song creation.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022

Are there real world creation myths that inspired The Silmarillion?
In J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion, the creation myth is based on music - the creation of elves, etc. are new themes in the music, the "devil" introduces discords that are then used to develop the

Varda — 05/22/2022
Aye, Eonwe

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
on the topic

Varda — 05/22/2022
: )

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Right on.
[5:12 PM]

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
There were also some inland seas formed when big pillars of ice collapsed, but since the seas themselves are fictional I'm not sure if this was meant to be an explanation for a real life feature.

Varda — 05/22/2022
It was for the locals in the story.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Though on a smaller scale I do suppose there are features caused by glaciers retreating/melting that might inspire such stories.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Tolkien was very familiar with glacial phenomena, growing up near Birmingham, that, located in the West Midlands county, was covered by the Denisovian Glacier (the last European glacier corresponding to the Wisconsin Glaciation in N.A.)
[5:18 PM]
Sorry...my fingers are not working today. It was the Devensian Glaciation.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
don t worry Sandalf i get that all the time

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Thanks!@

Varda — 05/22/2022
Manwe was famous for typing too fast and making lots of typos, even though his spelliing was normally good. : )
[5:19 PM]
We are fortunate here to have an edit.
[5:20 PM]
Do any of you still remember Manwe-(Valar)? (not a pop quiz, just wondering)

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Did the Valar have laptops? he he

Varda — 05/22/2022
The Valar could move things with their minds and think to each other without speech. So maybe mental internet, yes. : )
[5:21 PM]
Headtops?

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
oh Eonwe as messenger of Manwe as was Hermes the messenger for Odin .. storms and floods as expressions of the wrath of a god

Varda — 05/22/2022
Aye. Osse was the Maiar who did the storms at sea.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Osse still causes problems...i can tell you.

Varda — 05/22/2022
He was one of the very few or the only one that returned to the Valar after going to follow Morgoth for a time. Seems to have left him slightly unstable.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Elves could think to eachother too.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Mental smartphones.
[5:22 PM]
At limited range, I suppose.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Thus the need for Uinen, the Maia who calms him, and another use of her seaweed net hair to help calm the ocean.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Supposedly humans could, but harder for them. Things more easily get in the way of it for humans.
[5:23 PM]
Nature of Middle-Earth goes into it pretty well.

Varda — 05/22/2022
True. There's a scene in the RotK where Galadriel, Gandalf, and Elrond I believe were chatting away telepathically on the way back from the War of the Ring.

@Ar-Pharazon-V
At limited range, I suppose.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Telepathy was not limited by distance.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
I think that only some of the Elves could mindspeak..notably the "higher" Elves, such as Elrond, Galadriel, Cirdan, and so on. I am not sure that the laughing and singing Elves of The Hobbit were able to do so. And Certainly some of the "higher" humans, like Aragorn, had a slight ability in this area as well. Notably, for example, Aragorn's great empathy.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Aragorn had a tad of Maia blood just to complicate things.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Nature of Middle-Earth :}

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Of course.

Varda — 05/22/2022
So that's more of the myth/folklore explaining why some had greater height, beauty, skill, whatever. Had elven or Maia blood in their ancestry.
[5:26 PM]
And yes, we see that in the Greek and Roman tales as well, and reasons why they should be rulers.
[5:27 PM]
I have five adults to feed. : )  So the gavel must come down, but chatting can continue as long as you like!
[5:27 PM]
gavel finishes gluing glitter on itself to look mythologic

After-meeting!

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
But I found this along the way, so I'm going to quote it and you all are just going to have to read it :}

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
The reason I mentioned range was because I assumed telepathic conversations might be easier when you're next to someone, facing them, and also that we have no evidence of Elves in Middle-earth making telepathic contact with Valinor or Eressea.

Varda — 05/22/2022
Please do let us see that! And you know I will read it later!
[5:28 PM]
I will be gone part of this week so the transcript may be delayed.
Good thoughts.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Alright, enjoy the food, Varda!

Varda — 05/22/2022
Right after I make it. ; )

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Enjoy dinner with your huge brood! Have a great week!

Varda — 05/22/2022
There may have been a problem getting through the mists over the rocks with perhaps some magic encircling Valinor as defense.
[5:29 PM]
You too!
[5:30 PM]
Hordes of  (those living around) Taniquetil surround the mountain. (edited)

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
"The Eldar believed that 'spirits', and the more so as they had greater inherent native powers, could 'emit' their influence to make contact with or act upon things exterior to themselves: primarily and most easily upon other spirits, or upon the f๋ar of Incarnates, but also in the case of the greater Mayar (of whom the Valar were the chief) directly upon the physical things without the mediacy of corporeal instruments.
[5:31 PM]
This direct action upon things was held to be quite different from direct calling of attention from other spirits. The latter was a natural operation  within one mode of being, it being of the nature of spirits to be aware of one another. The former was an exhalation of dominance of one mode over another; and according to the Eldar all exertions of dominace make demands upon those who exert the power - something of their "spirit" is expelled, and transferred to the thing in a lower mode.

Varda — 05/22/2022
(Sauron's fea carrying the One Ring with it after disembodiment the first time)

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Hence all tyrants slowly consume themselves, or transfer their power to things, and can only control it so long as they can [?possess or control the thing with its?] but power is dissipated. So Morgoth had become in fact less powerful than the other Valar, and much of his native power had passed into things [? ?diminished ?] Hence his malice could live on after his extrusion."
[5:34 PM]
I tried to quote as closely to the exact as possible. Disregarding any potential typos, only difference should be the last two chunks should be one paragraph.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Morgoth's Ring.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
So it is something one would not want to do too often, ay?

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
and maybe a diacritical over a letter in "Mayar"
[5:35 PM]
Aye.
OK, here we go Osanwe-kenta.
[5:36 PM]
"Enquiry into the Communication of Thought"
I'm going to pick a few choice phrases to give the idea. It's too much to sit here and quote it all.
[5:38 PM]
"Men(my note: as in => Mankind) have the same faculty as the Quendi, but it is in itself weaker, and is weaker in operation owing to the strength of the hroa, over which most men have small control by the will."
[5:39 PM]
"[A mind] cannot perceive more than the existence of another mind except by the will of both parties."
[5:42 PM]
Where G = "Guest" and H = "Host" minds:
"Openness is the natural or simple state of a mind that is not otherwise engaged... Nonetheless any mind may be closed. This requires an act of conscious will. It may be made against G, against G and some others, or be a total retreat into privacy."

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
What is Osanwe-kenta? Do you have a reference for this work?

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
The Nature of Middle-Earth
[5:43 PM]
The book I was referring to.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
It almost sounds like something out of the Lion King. he he

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nature_of_Middle-earth
    The Nature of Middle-earth
The Nature of Middle-earth is a 2021 book of previously unpublished materials on Tolkien's legendarium, compiled and edited by the scholar Carl F. Hostetter.
Some essays were previously published in the Elvish linguistics journal Vinyar Tengwar, where Hostetter is a long-time editor.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Ah! Thank you for the reference!

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
MP.
[5:46 PM]
Thought communication is dimmed by bodies (that of G  as well as that of H), but can be strengthened by Affinity, Urgency, and Authority

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
MP = my pleasure?

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Aye.

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Again thanks.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
... MP :}

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022

[5:46 PM]

[5:46 PM]

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
My (little) Pony ? :}

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
(electro)magnetic pulse?

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
I'm told friendship is magic :}

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
It is! That's why the Elements of Harmony were so powerful.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Actually, that reminds me that somewhere in the etymologies, I'm fairly certain I saw the word "bronie". I don't rememeber what it means, but there you go :}
[5:48 PM]
But back to my paraphrasing:

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Wait what, in Tolkien's etymologies?
[5:49 PM]
Interesting.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Aye, HoME V
[5:49 PM]
I've been spending too much time in there :}

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
hehe

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
A Bronie is a male fan of My Little Pony.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Affinity could be kinship, love , friendship, that kind of thing. So siblings, cousins, lovers would have a stronger tie for thought communication.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
I know, I am/was one (haven't spent that much time on it in the last couple years).
[5:50 PM]
But I meant within Tolkien's languages.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Yes it is, Sandalf :} I meant it's a Tolkien word too, and I don't remember what that word means :}

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Sounds Scottish...maybe Arien knows something?

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Hmm, well, back to the original topic, Eonwe, they do say twins can seem to be more in sync or even almost telepathic...
[5:51 PM]
So this affinity might be used as explanation

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
nope Sandalf .. but i ll google it

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Urgency would be need of G, so if someone is in trouble, that gives them a boost in signal too.
[5:52 PM]
Authority should be self explanatory.
[5:53 PM]
So an older relative in great need would get through to their younger relative easier than a random person who just wants the latest sports scores.
[5:54 PM]
But it still comes down the the recipient being interested in getting the message from the sender.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
now Sandalf apparently bronie is polish for weapon which i didnt know but Tolkien might have known

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
I don't think that Tolkien was familiar with My Litte Pony, so if he used the term "Bronie," it had to have been something he had seen before.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
And a powerful weapon we can be indeed... cough

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Language also became a barrier because the more you're used to talking, the less you're used to transmitting thought.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
and the other meaning of bronie should  be known to Phari  cough

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Does my Discord avatar give it away?

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
He he.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
"Distance in itself offers no impedement whatsoever to osanw๋."

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Anyway, so blocking someone telepathically would be similar to blocking someone in social media, or "ghosting" them?

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
And that's the important parts for now :}
[5:57 PM]
More like hearing someone ringing your doorbell and not coming to the door, or checking your caller id on a phone ring and saying "Nope, not gonna pick it up."
[5:57 PM]
You know they want to talk, you just don't care.

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
in Darkovan society it is elemental for teenagers or children to learn to block others out or shield themsellves other wise they can go mad or dangerously ill and die from it but . that is another franchise ..

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
In any case, it seems like an ability Mel Gibson might have found useful in What Women Want...

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
Ok, now i'm done with that and moved to bronie. Here you go Phar:

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
I need to move on to getting ready for the week ahead. For my weather report from the Great Plains, it was 94 Degs F on Thursday, 70 on Friday, and this morning it was 34 degs F...with some snow flakes. There is a big fire out in western NE...the Road 201 fire. Picture attached.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Eek.

Eonw๋ Valar — 05/22/2022
bronie is Old Noldorin for "last, endure, survive". Enjoy :}
[5:59 PM]
Ouch.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Bronies never die!

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
Thanks for the definition!

Arien  Valar — 05/22/2022
yip Protect and survive nods wisely even Runrig knew that

Sandalf13 — 05/22/2022
To give you some scale, Nebraska is almost 2/3 the size of all of Germany, and has a pop. of 1.8 million people...less than Queens County in New YOrk City.

it is a wonderful place
[6:04 PM]

Personal gaming report!
[6:47 PM]
For (non)flashgaming... I'll give you

    Kongregate
    black
Black, another puzzle game for you!
Can you make the screen black in all 25 levels? Each level has its own logic.
You can also get the FREE mobile version wi...

[6:48 PM]
A puzzle game, part of a color-themed series, where you have to turn each level black... after figuring out the mechanics in each level
[6:48 PM]
Not too difficult, but a fun time-waster.

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
Blizzard gaming:
[7:00 PM]
Hearthstone:
71 on the reward track. Getting slow-ish, but still plenty of time left.
[7:02 PM]
Got my last cardback for gold! The League of Explorers cardback makes my collection... well, not quite complete, but I got all the ones they made available for gold. Hopefully they'll do the same for other hero skins and card backs in the future
[7:03 PM]
Not sure what I'm going to spend my gold on now. I kinda like the idea of getting my mercenary packs from quest rewards instead, since it's actually picking up a bit.
Maybe I'll save for the eventual mini-set, or even other 3000 gold offers they might get like they had with Drek'thar.
[7:04 PM]
I took a look at the gold-card versions of minisets they put on offer recently, but while you could buy the normal sets for gold, the  golden versions require real money. So that's not happening!
I'll find somewhere to spend my fortune, I guess.
[7:06 PM]
With all classes at level 60, I got started with focusing on classes with the least wins, that currently being rogue and warrior. And... those age-old basic sets I have for them are pretty bad now indeed. But rather than improve them in ways I'm not sure of (internet might help?) I just keep playing them while my matchmaking rating plummets... it does feel rather rockbottom at the moment, but I am getting wins, and both classes are about to reach 300
[7:08 PM]
Tavern brawl is Fury of Kael'thas, with each third spell you cast costing 0 mana. Got myself a nice mage deck with some reasonable cheap spells and a few heavy ones. The Drakefire Amulet, discover and summon 2 dragons, is one of my favorites there... at one point with the coin on my side I got to put that down on my first turn, and opponent conceded right away
[7:10 PM]
For mercenaries, been leveling a few more. Kazakus and Eudora got their first levels, Sneed made it to max level, and through coins I got everyone's favorite alliance admiral-who-should-have-been-raidboss-by-now, Sky Admiral Rogers.
[7:11 PM]
I wonder if she'll have a role to play in the WoW pre-patch events in Stormwind, or even follow Garrosh's example and become a surprise antagonist in Dragonflight. She can't be happy with the current ceasefire.
[7:12 PM]
Anyway,
WoW:
[7:15 PM]
In heroic raiding, Lihuvim down! That's the first end of wing boss, and we've started working on the other one, Halondrus. Tankwise we seem to be getting things under control, but damage can be heavy, so we need to avoid more! We have reached phase 3 a couple of times, though, so hopefully it won't take long.
[7:16 PM]
Weekly is arena skirmishes, which I'm still doing in bear. Not always smooth, but working so far.
[7:17 PM]
Got a new appearance in Torghast from a floor 5 boss, Shoulder of Vehement Slicing. There's a ton of shoulder appearances to get through Torghast, and they all have this metallic spiky theme... but still nice to have!
[7:18 PM]
Finally a bit of time for alting! Got my mage to 48 through Stormheim, making her eligible for Shadowlands.
[7:19 PM]
I cleared out her bags a bit and sent her to Stormwind, where she's ready to start the introduction and head off into the Maw. Maybe she'll get to set the place on fire during next week
And that's my report for the week!

Ar-Pharazon-V — 05/22/2022
namarie!

Varda — 05/22/2022
Thanks, Phar
