Oops. Thanks for that very helpful reminder!

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:18 PM
Not until the 28th here.
[4:18 PM]
So do I need to be an hour early next week or an hour late?

VardaYesterday at 4:18 PM
Be wizardly?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:18 PM
We're skipping an hour, so I guess an hour late?

IrmoYesterday at 4:19 PM
The clock goes back, so it will be 22:00 EST

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:19 PM
I'm guessing early.
[4:20 PM]
You're skipping an hour, so from the outside the meeting will be an hour earlier.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:20 PM
Fair enough.

ShelobYesterday at 4:25 PM
Still here. But then again, I am distracted by an online game of 18MAG

VardaYesterday at 4:25 PM
heh
[4:25 PM]

What were the intentions of Sauron if he collected the One Ring again?

ShelobYesterday at 4:26 PM
Obviously to conquer Middle Earth once again.

VardaYesterday at 4:26 PM
This is during the time of the War of the Ring. Morgoth had been tossed through the Doors of Night but had left his mark in Morgoth's Ring: the earth of Arda.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:26 PM
Well, we also concluded he didn't need it to incarnate...

VardaYesterday at 4:26 PM
True. Gollum saw Sauron as a carnate being, missing a finger.

VardaYesterday at 4:28 PM
Before, Sauron was pushing for the worship of Morgoth. After Morgoth was gone, Sauron may have been pushing for some or all of that worship to come to him.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:28 PM
Exactly how would having the R:ing have done that?

VardaYesterday at 4:28 PM
Having the Ring would return the power that Sauron had poured into it, making him as powerful as he had been before or close to it.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:29 PM
But he had the Ring during the Last Alliance, and still couldn't become fair, or even win the war.

ShelobYesterday at 4:29 PM
Would Sauron be able to breach the doors of Midnight?

VardaYesterday at 4:29 PM
I wonder if one reason the Istari were sent back with lessened power and memory was to level the playing field somewhat, as well as the stated reasons.

IrmoYesterday at 4:29 PM
Err more powerful actually, since he fused the powers of dwarves and men intro the One

VardaYesterday at 4:29 PM
Becoming fair wasn't necessary to have power.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:30 PM
Sauron didn't have as many foes with the power to stand against him at his full strength by the end of the Third Age.

VardaYesterday at 4:30 PM
Sauron could not fight the Valar, so I'd say no Shelob.

ShelobYesterday at 4:30 PM
Being fair was only an end to the means of being accepted long enough to work his darkness from within.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:30 PM
My point was just that he'd lost a portion of his power regardless

VardaYesterday at 4:31 PM
But, Sauron didn't expect the Valar to fight him. And they did not, at least directly. The world would have been in too much danger from their form of fighting.

ShelobYesterday at 4:31 PM
As is evidenced by the sinking of Beleriand.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:31 PM
The Noldor had all but completely retreated from Middle-Earth at that point. Sauron gaining his Ring would've only made it worse, because then the Three would have to go into hiding again.

VardaYesterday at 4:32 PM
Being even more powerful would help speed up taking over Arda and impress his already impressed minions. It was said that his darkness would cover Arda and not be lifted again for a terribly long time once he won.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:32 PM
The only who would remain are the holdouts who are just too stubborn to run from a fight.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:32 PM
Such as Auros

VardaYesterday at 4:33 PM
Many would have no future but enslavement. A fighting death might be preferable for them.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:33 PM
Hehe, that would probably cement his fate, aye. heh.

VardaYesterday at 4:34 PM
Elves who didn't fight would probably finish leaving Middle-earth to sail to Valinor.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:34 PM
Aye.

VardaYesterday at 4:34 PM
What about Dwarves?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:35 PM
If they're smart, dig a new hole and stay there?

VardaYesterday at 4:35 PM
Diggy diggy hole? ; )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:35 PM
Exactly

IrmoYesterday at 4:35 PM
With the Eldar leaving and the Numernorean heirs defeated there would be no dwarf, man hobbit or any folk able to withstand Sauron wearing the One

VardaYesterday at 4:35 PM
The Dwarves would not take kindly to enslavement.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:36 PM
chuckles

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:36 PM
Dwarves had nowhere to go except to lock themselves away and be picked off one by one in what remained of their homes, but for Elves and Dwarves, it's not likely they would have a sudden population explosion to gain the numbers to stand against the full onslaight of Sauron's might.

VardaYesterday at 4:36 PM
Aye, Irmo.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:36 PM
Don't pay any attention to the big pile of dirt and rock lying a stone's throw from a curiously flat mountain wall.
[4:36 PM]
No secret dwarf hideout here.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:37 PM
Frali: give me a pile of rocks and i build you one!

ShelobYesterday at 4:37 PM
Not to put to fine a point on it, but wasn't there mention of Dwarven thralls somewhere?
[4:37 PM]
too*

IrmoYesterday at 4:38 PM
Dourhands

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:38 PM
You would probably end up with a situation like the First Age. Like Beren and Turin, small bands of "outlaws" in secret places doing what they can to harry Sauron's forces.

ShelobYesterday at 4:38 PM
Besides, there was no race on Middle Earth that was not corrupted by Morgoth and in the thralldom of Sauron during the 3rd age, with the exception of maybe the dragons.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:39 PM
Elves.

IrmoYesterday at 4:39 PM
Ehuh? The dragons were corruption incarnate

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:39 PM
Those dragons left perhaps not so completely under Sauron's thralldom, though.

IrmoYesterday at 4:40 PM
Still, creatures of Morgoth

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:40 PM
No argument there :}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:40 PM
I wonder if the dragons would oppose Sauron if his reign did not suit them.
[4:41 PM]
"You're not our dad!"

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:41 PM
Oppose? Probably not. Have no qualms feeding on/taking from his minions? Certainly.

VardaYesterday at 4:41 PM
Sauron was the right hand of Morgoth before, so he had some claim on any that had loyalty to Morgoth.

IrmoYesterday at 4:42 PM
I agree with Eonwë, the dragons in ME seem quite opportunistic (edited)

VardaYesterday at 4:42 PM
(not referring to dragons)

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:43 PM
They would pay the necessary obeisance to Sauron as required should Sauron prove formidible enough, but I don't think they'd care much beyond what pile of gold they're sleeping on that day.

VardaYesterday at 4:43 PM
Sauron knew how to opportunisticly use others, such as Smaug or Shelob, without their loyalty.(edited)
[4:43 PM]
All he needed was for them to not fight them.

ShelobYesterday at 4:43 PM
Irmo, I meant both, as in corrupted as well as under Sauron's thrall.
[4:44 PM]
And the best that could be said about Smaug was that he co-opted willingly. He was no one's thrall.

VardaYesterday at 4:44 PM
Correction made. : )

IrmoYesterday at 4:44 PM
Anyway, I think we should look seriously ate the meaning of the One controlling the 9 and the 7: men and dwarves would become his slaves, all of them

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:45 PM
Going back to a comment Varda made: "Sauron was the right hand of Morgoth before, so he had some claim on any that had loyalty to Morgoth." -- Ironic, isn't it, to claim rightful authority over a realm for serving a guy who himself had rejected the rightful authority that stood over him?

IrmoYesterday at 4:45 PM
or perish...

VardaYesterday at 4:45 PM
heh. And that "or perish" is convincing to a lot of folk.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:46 PM
There's always a choice... even when one of those options is "die".

VardaYesterday at 4:46 PM
Right.

ShelobYesterday at 4:46 PM
And many people would choose to live.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:46 PM
Well, that's natural selection for you

IrmoYesterday at 4:46 PM
The balance between free will and fate is quite subtle in JRRT's work

ShelobYesterday at 4:46 PM
And many would do so thinking to live would be better than to die.... the fools.

VardaYesterday at 4:47 PM
Many would have followed Aragorn or those that would oppose. Faramir knew guerilla fighting and might keep them alive longest.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:47 PM
What's the phrase? "One must stand for something or they will fall for anything?"

VardaYesterday at 4:48 PM
Guess it depends on what they think happens after death. Elves go to Valinor, a paradise. Dwarves may go to Aule, also in Valinor.
[4:48 PM]
Humans were confused from earlier, but some knew they could leave the circles of the world.

ShelobYesterday at 4:49 PM
But the question then became whereto after?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:49 PM
Another tool of Morgoth's: Make your enemies afraid of death so even if they might consider standing against you, they'll be afraid to die.

ShelobYesterday at 4:49 PM
Many would believe that realm to be ruled by Morgoth.

VardaYesterday at 4:49 PM
That would help Sauron for sure.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:50 PM
yeah but Sauron was also like "i want to be Morgoth some day" that was his ultimate goal wasnt it|?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:51 PM
Morgoth instead of the Morgoth.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:51 PM
yes thats what i mean thanks ~

VardaYesterday at 4:51 PM
Some Maiar became so powerful that they were nearly on the level of Valar.

IrmoYesterday at 4:51 PM
Again, not quite: Sauron's goal was always less ambitious: domination from the west coast to the uttermost east, but he would never face the Valar (again)

Arien  ValarYesterday at 4:51 PM
"I want to be Morgoth instead of Morgoth" (free after Iznogud)

IrmoYesterday at 4:52 PM
he learned from Akkalabeth

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:52 PM
I believe it's suggested in one of his Letters, Tolkien suggested that by the end of the Third Age, Sauron was pushing himself (among his minions at least) as Morgoth Reborn/Returned/Something like that.(edited)

VardaYesterday at 4:52 PM
Aye to Irmo.
[4:52 PM]
And aye to Eonwe on working the propaganda. : )

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:53 PM
Naturally my books are never in reach when they would be useful.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:54 PM
Yep, Arien, that's what I was going for

VardaYesterday at 4:54 PM
Sauron would find it advantageous to be thought of as such a power, but would know it was not the case.

IrmoYesterday at 4:54 PM
I love that reference to Iznogud Arien!

VardaYesterday at 4:54 PM
: )

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:54 PM
And yeah, you could say Sauron was smart enough (for the moment) to keep his goals within the scope of not forcing the Valar's hand.

VardaYesterday at 4:55 PM
Sauron didn't even want what Morgoth did, which was nihilism. Sauron wanted complete ownership.

IrmoYesterday at 4:55 PM
Khalif instead of the Khalif
[4:57 PM]
So the speculative next question is: when Sauron's victory would be complete, as Gandalf predicted, and from the Anduin to Rhun there would be nobody left to fight Sauron, would at some point the Valar consider ME worth saving in any way, for... what would there be left to save anyway?(edited)

VardaYesterday at 4:58 PM
The Valar were not going to step in beyond what little they did, sending the Istari, setting up the Fellowship.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 4:58 PM
You'd think though, that Sauron would want to own the seaports too. He should know that Morgoth's fall was because Earendil sailed to Valinor and got the Valar involved. His own during the Second Age was because Amandil/Pharazon sailed to Valinor. Seems he'd get the idea to keep people from sailing to Valinor.

VardaYesterday at 4:59 PM
Sauron didn't think the Valar would involve themselves.
[4:59 PM]
There was no fellow Vala to keep in check.
[4:59 PM]
But that leaves the question of whether other Maiar might eventually become disgusted and step in after a millennia or two?

IrmoYesterday at 5:00 PM
Nienna and Olorin would have pity...(edited)

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:00 PM
I don't think the Valar would work openly against Sauron, and I think Maiar might get some restricitons put on them too if it came to it.(edited)

VardaYesterday at 5:01 PM
Like the Istari did

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:01 PM
Morgoth was a foe so far above his foes that even at his weakest, they could not hope to stand against him even without the vastness of his armies.

IrmoYesterday at 5:02 PM
Ah but Luthien made him sleep

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:03 PM
Put him to sleep, then stab him in the eye?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:03 PM
Sauron had weakened himself and made himself vulnerable by creating the One Ring, and had been shown how vulnerable that made him, but I think the Valar would continue to work through hidden emmisaries like the Istari.

VardaYesterday at 5:03 PM
Doubt there would be elves left in Middle-earth by then? Or maybe hidden and try a Luthien? Sauron would remember that trick and be wary.
[5:04 PM]
Need a new trick.

IrmoYesterday at 5:05 PM
The Luthien/Huan trick was the best ever

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:05 PM
The Valar could easily deal with Sauron, but that does nothing for the growth of the Free Peoples. Some Maiar could openly contest Sauron, Power for Power, but that runs the risk of trading one tyrant for another.(edited)

IrmoYesterday at 5:05 PM
Can be done but once
[5:05 PM]
Indeed Eonwë

VardaYesterday at 5:06 PM
Perhaps a group of Maiar together? That didn't work well for the Istari, but maybe a different group?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:06 PM
So gotta wait until all the Free People are dying, and then swoop in.

VardaYesterday at 5:06 PM
Prevent another Saruman from appearing by being more aware of what happened last time.
[5:07 PM]
They would probably be enslaved in large numbers.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:07 PM
Ultimately it would have to be a victory by the Free Peoples, desiring to be free.

VardaYesterday at 5:07 PM
Not all dead by a long shot.
[5:08 PM]
Sauron would know they would try, one reason it would be a very long time before a win.
[5:08 PM]
But win they would, eventually. But if Frodo wins first, so much averted!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:08 PM
Aye.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:09 PM
Enslaving in the real world worked by getting new slaves from elsewhere on occasion. I can't imagine a continent's worth of enslaved races not steadily decrease in population.

VardaYesterday at 5:09 PM
Breeding was one of Sauron's things. He did a lot of changing that way.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:10 PM
Yeah, okay, you'd get a continent full of half-orcs. But would those ever desire to be free?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:10 PM
Yes.

VardaYesterday at 5:10 PM
The orcs already were wanting out - to have their own robber bands.
[5:10 PM]
Keeping your profits is a reasonable desire, even one the orcs had.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:11 PM
Sauron couldn't hope for the level of control Morgoth had. The Rings gave him chances at pockets of control, but he can't give every person in existence a Ring.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:11 PM
So now the idea of the future is orc and orc hybrids as the new free peoples eventually maybe overthrowing Sauron. Would the Valar have waited for that?

IrmoYesterday at 5:11 PM
I can imagine a novel starting 5000 years after Sauron's victory: the last descendant of Aragorn's line, meeting an Istar and a high-elf sent from Valinor to help him steal the One ring from Sauron (edited)

VardaYesterday at 5:11 PM
and this time, please toss it into the fire right away!
[5:12 PM]
Aye, likely a few hidden free folk even a long time into the future.
[5:12 PM]
Kind of like Beren.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:12 PM
Again I'm thinking back to The Dark Crystal

VardaYesterday at 5:12 PM
Outlaws.

IrmoYesterday at 5:12 PM
Yet hope remains... always

VardaYesterday at 5:12 PM
The Dark Crystal was a good one. : )
[5:13 PM]
Estel. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:13 PM
There's always that One Last Gelfling you didn't quite get...

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:13 PM
There would still be Mankind, even Elves and Dwarves to some extent, just not in great numbers.
[5:13 PM]
The Rangers of Arnor would already be used to moving about with no settled abode.

IrmoYesterday at 5:13 PM
And with that happy thought I am off to sleep, I wish you all good  dreams later

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:14 PM
Namarie

VardaYesterday at 5:14 PM
Right, Phar. And Eonwe put it another way. : )
[5:14 PM]
Namarie! We have ended the discussion with hope!

VardaYesterday at 5:20 PM
heh

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:21 PM
The only comment I would have, is that if Auros is supposed to at some point help Frali recall the feeling of the sword, it seems redundant if Frali already recalls that feeling.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:22 PM
I was wondering where you're going with that "less than solid" business but I guess it's a dwarf thing.

VardaYesterday at 5:22 PM
On the horse thing, I had to remove it because it was not correct on the timeline.
[5:22 PM]
although you're talking about Telperos. : )

Arien  ValarYesterday at 5:23 PM
yes of course i meant him

VardaYesterday at 5:23 PM
Eonwe, Frali doesn't know he's feeling the sword. Eonwe doesn't know Frali has that sense. Still viable.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:24 PM
Frali's comparing his feeling to the sword, though.
[5:24 PM]
Which says he knows that feeling already.

VardaYesterday at 5:24 PM
Aye, a memory. Something Eonwe could work with later?

Arien  ValarYesterday at 5:24 PM
he thinks the weird feeling he gets is from the stone you see and not the sword

VardaYesterday at 5:24 PM
And I like the way it worked into the shadows thing you mentioned.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 5:25 PM
He just uses the comparison to try and make it clearer for Fainan

VardaYesterday at 5:25 PM
Frali sees it as the stones too. Fainan sees the shadow thing you mentioned earlier as being off.
[5:25 PM]
It's a feeling of evil. Not a belief the sword is there.
[5:26 PM]
Ioreth, aiya!
[5:27 PM]
The evil feeling reminds Fainan of the reek in Mirkwood and Frali of the sword.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:27 PM
But again, if Frali is saying "it reminds me of that sword," that indicates he remembers how the sword made him feel. I'm not saying it's impossible to work with, just going to change the approach.

VardaYesterday at 5:30 PM
Ah ok, as in he has not lost the memory.
[5:31 PM]
It was fun having a little interaction with Frali

Arien  ValarYesterday at 5:31 PM
:)

VardaYesterday at 5:33 PM
The group from Mirkwood should be feeling somewhat close by now, friendly, respect for each other's abilities
[5:34 PM]
Auros may have been a bit left out of that during the Rivendell time, so Telperos is very welcome for him as a truly old friend who really knows him.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:38 PM
I'd say aye, more or less.

VardaYesterday at 5:39 PM
Not really a feeling of closeness to the others in the group. They were just another escort in a long line of acquaintances.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:39 PM
Fainan, Calion, and Auros have been travelling for a few months, Frali not too much less.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:39 PM
A small time for a Noldor

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:40 PM
And aye, I'd say that's a good assessment, Varda. That would be more or less how Auros saw it throughout "Scouting Ahead."
[5:47 PM]
Not that Auros didn't see that Fainan/Calion/Frali are capable in combat.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:48 PM
Funny, really. It feels like they've been adventuring for nearly 20 years.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:48 PM
hehe.
[5:48 PM]
Indeed.

Arien  ValarYesterday at 5:50 PM
I started adventuring uuh I thinks about 20 years ago lol first in forum rps , then mmorpgs, then Larp now forum rp again ._.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:57 PM
I feel like any comment I try to make about Telperos in this context is going to be a spoiler of some sort, heh.

VardaYesterday at 5:57 PM
Then hold it for the forum. : )

Arien  ValarYesterday at 5:59 PM
well friends i gptta run ~

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:59 PM
Fly, you fool!

Arien  ValarYesterday at 5:59 PM
Namarie for now

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:59 PM
I guess I can say that since Aldawë is sailing West per their last meeting in Rivendell, that leaves 2 people from Auros' inner circle still in Middle-Earth. Telperos is one of those.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:59 PM
Namarie

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 5:59 PM
Sleep well Arien :}

VardaYesterday at 5:59 PM
It is After-meeting. Namarie!
[6:00 PM]
Eonwe may have others he knows in Rivendell, but not like his old friends from before.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:00 PM
We band of brothers.

VardaYesterday at 6:02 PM
It can feel like a long time until seeing everyone again in Valinor.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:05 PM
Auros, yes, has others he knows in Rivendell.
[6:05 PM]
Bound to get to know about everyone to some extent in 3 thousand years.

VardaYesterday at 6:06 PM
True : )

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:06 PM
Especially since the population is declining as time goes by.

VardaYesterday at 6:07 PM
So Auros has a good reason to remain in Middle-earth, or else he's in the slow decision to leave.
[6:09 PM]
Fainan has her life in Middle-earth, defending Mirkwood which has a population not beholden to a ring, living under their own power. Calion has it too. Very different type of lives between theirs and Auros'.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:09 PM
Or he's as stubborn as heck, heh.

VardaYesterday at 6:09 PM
At least until we meet a seagull.
[6:09 PM]
True! And he's that. : )
[6:10 PM]
Happy birthday to Ioreth!!

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:10 PM
Let's not go to the sea then
[6:10 PM]
Happy birthday!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:10 PM
Happy birthday Ioreth :}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:10 PM
It is a silly place.

VardaYesterday at 6:10 PM
hehe
[6:12 PM]
Elrond stayed,  even though Celebrian had left. But if he left, he would lose the three children. He had work to do, as well, wanting to free Middle-earth or help those trying. He needed people who would help.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:12 PM
hehe
[6:12 PM]
Auros and his group did once have a goal, which may be explored more in a future story.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:13 PM
But then the expansion came in, and well, old goals fell to the wayside?

VardaYesterday at 6:13 PM
This group probably assumes Auros has a life in Rivendell, wife, kids, friends, job. When he's not out on missions. Probably kept him busy so we didn't see him much.
[6:13 PM]
What do we know? : )
[6:14 PM]
And for that matter, is Calion a family man?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:14 PM
If by "new expansion" you mean "The Third Age started rolling along" then yeah, I guess so :}
[6:15 PM]
Hard to reclaim a nation when no one is interested in reclaiming it.

VardaYesterday at 6:15 PM
(Sounds like  a LotRO expansion.)

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:15 PM
Doubt it. I know his brother had a love interest as a story mechanic, but in most of my stories, my characters are pretty much asexual simply because I can't be bothered otherwise.
[6:15 PM]
Only one of my WoW chars has a child, who's another of my WoW chars.

VardaYesterday at 6:15 PM
Just never met the right elf.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:16 PM
Probably likely at this stage of the story for Elves.

VardaYesterday at 6:16 PM
Needs one about his own place in the hierarchy that he can at least stand, and likes critters all over the flet.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:16 PM
haha

VardaYesterday at 6:16 PM
Aye, makes sense.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:16 PM
"Do you like wolves?"

VardaYesterday at 6:17 PM
ewww
[6:17 PM]
Fainan is ok with them, but not in the right place in the hierarcy, heh.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:17 PM
Not in that sense, it's just.. he's my pet, so you'd better not be allergic.

VardaYesterday at 6:18 PM
ah-choo!
[6:18 PM]
Nope, nope - spicy food is all.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:19 PM
And yes, that question might have been mistaken for a Worgen flirt.

VardaYesterday at 6:19 PM
Maybe the elves are figuring they'll get together for romantic things later in Valinor, with more choices.
[6:19 PM]
hah : )

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:19 PM
Yep, and more permanence
[6:20 PM]
Finding a mate in Middle-Earth is like a holiday crush.

VardaYesterday at 6:20 PM
Or at least less of a long wait if somethign happens to one of them.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:20 PM
Heh.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:27 PM
One does wonder how much differently the lives of the Elves in Valinor were going, since they didn't have to worry about dealing with Morgoth/Sauron/any upstart that tried to stir the pot in the interrim.(edited)

VardaYesterday at 6:29 PM
I kind of figured it sounded like Valhalla, with the Vanyar readying for war in Middle-earth when Manwe comes down from the mountain.
[6:29 PM]
The Final Battle.
[6:29 PM]
A kind of Ragnarok, with Morgoth returned.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:30 PM
Perhaps with less quaffing.

VardaYesterday at 6:30 PM
That might even be what ends the reign of Sauron if he did win.
[6:30 PM]
Well, they do hold their liquor well. : )
[6:30 PM]
At least if trained at Thranduil's table and the like.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:32 PM
The Valar probably wouldn't get directly involved unless Sauron was moving directly to let Morgoth back into Arda, and at that point we're talking Dagor Dagorath.

VardaYesterday at 6:32 PM
That's what I meant, the Final Battle.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:33 PM
I can't imagine it's all battle and prepping for battle.
[6:34 PM]
in Aman.

VardaYesterday at 6:35 PM
O no. It would be the goal thing, same as Valhalla. Surely a great deal of creativity and readying to make the new Arda as it should be.
[6:35 PM]
And making a heavenly place to live in Valinor.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:35 PM
Probably some relaxation as well

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:37 PM
Plenty of time for creativity... New musical instruments that hit 60 distinct notes, not including flats/sharps.
[6:38 PM]
What, most of them sound the same to you? Sounds like a "you" problem, not a problem with the instrument :} Maybe you just don't have the refined hearing of an elf :}(edited)

VardaYesterday at 6:38 PM
There you go. : )
[6:39 PM]
We have Valar who have wide expertise  that Maiar join up with for that particular creativity (and other Valar too, as Gandalf did, not stuck to one). Then the elves surely jump in there.
[6:39 PM]
Even Aule has the added advantage of dwarves. Probably Noldor?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:40 PM
Noldor revered Aulë, so quite likely.

VardaYesterday at 6:41 PM
That would be an interesting way for leading into the new Arda, where the different groups would know each other well enough to sing aright.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:43 PM
I don't know. One strong Vala to tell everyone exactly how to sing and what to sing seems like that'd be better. That way only that one singer's song gets made. I mean who needs Free Will when we can be told what to think and do?
[6:44 PM]
Who wants to get to know other people and appreciate them and their uniqueness?(edited)

VardaYesterday at 6:44 PM
Lack of creative notes, grace ntes. : )
[6:44 PM]
Eru could have done that to start. Must not be his plan.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:44 PM
Bah, what does he know, he only created everything :} Melkor had it right :}
[6:45 PM]
Anyway... :}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:45 PM
Well, when you put it like that...

VardaYesterday at 6:46 PM
Melkor, the nihilist? The de-creator. Void of voids, here we come.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:46 PM
I mean, just listen to Melkor's Music! It was all one note! It was so unified! Who needs all those other notes? :}

VardaYesterday at 6:46 PM
Now that's unity.
[6:47 PM]
Unity, sounds like monotony. : )
[6:47 PM]
mono-tone, yep.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:49 PM
Anyway :}
[6:50 PM]
The hope would be that they know their own part, and know the others participating well enough to produce a New Arda, aye.

VardaYesterday at 6:51 PM
Seems like what it was being aimed at, anyway.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:55 PM
So maybe life in Valinor is like those company retreats with trustfalls etc, just getting to know everybody.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:55 PM
Lol, that's a funny picture.

VardaYesterday at 6:56 PM
Could be! I wonder what kind of wild "trustfalls" they might come up with.
[6:56 PM]
Can't die, but would feel it.
[6:56 PM]
or maybe they can. Namo's repeat business!

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:56 PM
People have died in Valinor.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 6:56 PM
After 7, next one's free?

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:57 PM
But yes, he might as well install a revolving door.

VardaYesterday at 6:57 PM
Do they get coupons for shorter times?
[6:57 PM]
Aye, you're right, Phar.

Alright, personal gaming report.
[7:01 PM]
Badges of the day are still ongoing for flashgames, but no new kongpanions, with old ones being rerun. So that takes a bit of pressure off, anyway. But I still like to get the badges of the day that I can...

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:26 PM
Blizzard gaming:
[7:27 PM]
Heroes of the Storm:
Had time for quite a few games this week, but still level 448.
[7:29 PM]
Hearthstone:
Reached level 100 on the reward track, and still the xp per level is 1500, so probably capped here, at least for now.
[7:30 PM]
Brawl this week is basic, common and rare cards only, so a lot of powerful combos are excluded. Still, found a hunter deck with lots of secrets which seemed to work.
[7:33 PM]
WoW:
[7:33 PM]
Raiding still going, a few more attempts on boss 9, and killed boss 8 again in the new reset after some serious trouble.
[7:36 PM]
Weekly this week is world quests, which, considering my anima grind, has been no extra trouble, as I get way more than 20 in a week.
[7:39 PM]
Other than that, progress time!
[7:40 PM]
Renown remains fully caught up at 38, getting me a mission companion added.
[7:43 PM]
Then I started going through my todolist
[7:44 PM]
As I already had a moth and an epic stag, I decided I wanted to complete the trio by getting a Gorm mount. Some can be gotten for rep, but the easiest one came from a rare near Tirna Scithe, with a 100% drop, though to get it to spawn I needed to kill a bunch of mobs around the area.
[7:44 PM]
So now the Spinemaw Gladechewer is mine!
[7:46 PM]
The anima farm is growing, as I've gotten both the mushroom network and the conductor to level 2. Mushroom has really doubled my gain from there, but I can still only use the conductor for one area a day, so not too much help there. Though I am one day away from my first reinforcement there, so that's about to change
[7:47 PM]
Got the achievements for doing 2 world quests a bunch of times; the workshop WQ in Ardenweald where I gave the supplies to the last missing npc, and the ramparts racer one in Revendreth, which gave me a new toy, the Dredger Barrow Racer!
[7:48 PM]
Command Table also going well, got all 4 possible pets from the adventures, though since they were all "campaign" missions I kinda ended up increasing the difficulty to more than I can reliably handle.
[7:48 PM]
The rewards are better too, of course, with more pet charms and anima, but I'll need to level my adventurers some more to really be comfortable with them.
[7:50 PM]
But yes, I ended up with the Runelight Leaper, Pernicious Bonetusk, Devouring Animite and Spirited Skyfoal pets
[7:50 PM]
Got a new legendary power too, from Halls of Atonement, the Dark Titan's Lesson. Next dungeon goal will be the one from Theater of Pain.
[7:52 PM]
Then Torghast for this week! Got another new wing done on layer 8, and got a new fae Companion along the way. Brings my total to 16 out of 19. Also got a pet there, the Tower Deathroach, and enough Soul Ash to push my legendary ring to rank 2.
[7:53 PM]
And then back to the todolist, grabbing a ghostly Scroll of Aeons toy from Bastion, before finally getting started on alts.
[7:54 PM]
6 alts to work on: 3 that I want to level to 60 and do the other covenant campaigns with, and before that I wanted to get 3 alts to level 10 that dropped below it with the new scaling, so they show up online and can get their winter veil gifts this year.
[7:55 PM]
Starting with the dwarf priest, Caligonn, who I've gotten from 5 to 10 with some Dun Morogh questing
[7:55 PM]
Unlocking shadowform with it, which is quite cool
[7:56 PM]
Next up will be the panda monk and worgen rogue!
[7:56 PM]
And that's my report for the week.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:03 PM
Congrats :}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:03 PM
Thanks  Tested it, and https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/argent-dawn/caligonn is back!
    World of Warcraft

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:03 PM
I got the Renown 38 companion too, apparently giving me my 12 covenant companions.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:04 PM
Yes, I'm thinking I'm missing one more covenant companion from Torghast.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:04 PM
Also got the Achievement (and then the toy) for the 10 races for the Ramparts race achievement, after a griefer got bored exploiting a flagging issue.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:05 PM
Hmm. Awkward, not sure how that works.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:06 PM
It looks like there's a moment at the beginning of the summon where an opposite faction person can attack the dredgers pushing the cart.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:06 PM
Ah, ok.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:07 PM
That of course ends the race for the racer.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:07 PM
Hmhm.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:07 PM
Hopefully that'll be fixed soon. That was one of the more tolerable world quests.
[8:08 PM]
It it were Warmode, whatever, you're asking for PvP when you're flagged, but when you're not flagged, it shouldn't be possible.
[8:11 PM]
Oh, and got a mount from an egg in a Maldraxis cache.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:12 PM
ooh grats!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:13 PM
Forget what it was called, but it was like a nether ray only death-themed.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:13 PM
Don't think I have that one.
[8:13 PM]
I'm only 3 off from 400, though!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:13 PM
Nice.
[8:14 PM]
You'll get there before I get the 29  I need for 350 I'm sure, hehe.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:15 PM
As long as I keep gathering anima, that's a good bet
[8:15 PM]
In fact, renown 39 gives a new mount, doesn't it?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:16 PM
Yes, or access to one at least.
[8:16 PM]
Well, it says "Granted" so I guess yes.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:17 PM
Hmm, looks like it's access, instead.. not sure.
[8:17 PM]
Well, guess it's up to the anima then!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:18 PM
The wording says "You will be granted this mount." When I look at it, so I hope it's that.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:18 PM
Hope so!
[8:19 PM]
according to wowhead it's 100 anima and 50 offerings.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:20 PM
Sounds a bit light on anima requirement.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:20 PM
Probably because it takes so much renown.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:21 PM
Like that ever stopped Blizzard before? :}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:21 PM
Actually, some other mounts might come my way first.... if I get exalted with the harvesters, undying army and the ascended... I think those sell stuff for gold too?

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:22 PM
24k gold at exalted.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:22 PM
There you go, that's 3 mounts right there then, Just need about 10k more rep with em.
[8:23 PM]
Gold I've got
[8:23 PM]
Well, I'm not rich, per se, but at 500k I can afford to buy a few rep mounts.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:23 PM
:}
[8:27 PM]
Time for my weekly shot at Invincible :}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:27 PM
good luck

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:27 PM
Thanks :}
[8:28 PM]
It's the only thing I still need from ICC for my Paladin.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:28 PM
And you still have to clear the entire place to get to it.

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:29 PM
Aye.
[8:29 PM]
And they dropped the gold reward for selling all the gear.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:29 PM
yep

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:33 PM
Still pulls in maybe a couple hundred at least.
[8:35 PM]
In the ballpark anyway.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:35 PM
Every bit helps!

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:36 PM
Aye. Can't get to 10 million if I'm not earning anything :}
[8:37 PM]
I wish our stats showed us how many of each type enemy type we're slain, not just the most. I want to compare and see how many zombies I need to kill before it takes the top of the list again on my Paladin, hehe.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:38 PM
Hah.
[8:38 PM]
I doubt it'll ever not be humanoid for me.
[8:38 PM]
So much rep grinding in the past...

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:38 PM
Yeah, mine says 280k humanoids
[8:39 PM]
So all I know is I have to kill more zombies than that, but no idea how far away that is.

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:40 PM
Well, namarie
[8:40 PM]
I'll read in the transcript whether you get the mount

Eonwë ValarYesterday at 8:40 PM
Sleep well :}

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 8:41 PM
Thanks!
[8:43 PM]
Oh, small trivia before I go.
[8:44 PM]
I was doing a world quest in Bastion yesterday, with the stewards and their chores.
[8:44 PM]
