Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:27 PM
All the Mods? I'm curious now.
IrmoToday at 4:27 PM
My band of friends will be participating in New

VardaToday at 4:28 PM
Yay Arien! Did you find Scatha's place on Steam for the Valarites?

Tolkien!
[4:34 PM]
First off, of course, we have the RP super
post from Auros. : ) I still have to finish reading it and
hope to be posting soon thereafter.
[4:35 PM]
Did anyone have a Tolkien-related question, suggestion, cool link? I
have a topic for afterwards.
[4:36 PM]
Here you go:
[4:36 PM]
The Fellowship was nine, and the comment was
made that they were the Nine Walkers against the Nine Riders. What
role did each Fellowship member do that could have translated into a
role that a Black Rider could have had as well?
[4:37 PM]
(Yep, speculation time.)
IrmoToday at 4:37 PM
Toughy!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:37 PM
Ehr. Legolas was a good scout?
IrmoToday at 4:38 PM
I think the only answer I can come up with is:....
[4:38 PM]
NONE
VardaToday at 4:39 PM
How about:
[4:39 PM]
Aragorn: group leader, king, distraction: Aragorn and the
Witch-king.
[4:39 PM]
The Witch-king did distract Gandalf at the gate of Minas Tirith
until the Rohirrim arrived.
IrmoToday at 4:40 PM
Superficially Aragorn fulfills the role of the Witch-King as leader,
but that is where it stops; the Witch-King leads by fear; Aragorn
never does that
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:41 PM
Hmm, yes, Gandalf's also parallel to the Witch-king in "magical"
ability.
IrmoToday at 4:41 PM
I stick with none :)
VardaToday at 4:42 PM
I agree that they have different styles and are opposite. But they
have a similar role. A king leader and a king leader.
[4:42 PM]
So they are like the opposite number.
[4:42 PM]
Quote: A person who holds a position in an organization or system
corresponding to that of a person in another organization or system;
a counterpart.
[4:44 PM]
Do you others agree with Irmo that there are no counterparts other
than number?
IrmoToday at 4:45 PM
Other than the Witch-King, the roles of the other 8 are pretty much
in the dark
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:45 PM
Well, there is the leadership role. Otherwise we don't know much of
roles between the nine.
[4:45 PM]
What Irmo said.
IrmoToday at 4:45 PM
Great minds Phar
[4:46 PM]
Might we agree that between the fellowship of 9 and the Nazgul the
differences ouweight any similarities?
VardaToday at 4:46 PM
Ok, we can at least say what roles the Fellowship members had. : )
[4:46 PM]
They could have been like opposites. Thus, opposition.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:47 PM
The mage, the ranger, the fighter, the scout, the bar- was there a
bard?
IrmoToday at 4:48 PM
The fellowship has 4 hobbits, there are none within the Nazgul who
could be related to that role for sure
VardaToday at 4:48 PM
A hobbit is a race, not a role. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:49 PM
One of the hobbits carried a ring, which I'm sure the Nazgul know
how to do
[4:49 PM]
Also I wonder if there was someone in a more servant role.
VardaToday at 4:49 PM
All of the Nazgul had at one time worn a ring.
IrmoToday at 4:49 PM
Wow Varda, which of the Nazgul would be the Pippin fool of a took?
Haha:)
Arien ValarToday at 4:49 PM
hobbit at least one .. burglar
VardaToday at 4:49 PM
Frodo: the one able to carry the important item; the one that could
destroy Sauron and his works. Could there have been one Nazgul that
could have taken the Ring back to Sauron? Or maybe carry Frodo off
without grabbing the Ring for himself?
Arien ValarToday at 4:50 PM
pippin maybe?
VardaToday at 4:50 PM
Irmo, there's always a person in a group that is or feels picked on,
so why not. ; )
[4:50 PM]
Sam: the support for Frodo and possibly decoy; spy. The one Nazgul
that could support the Frodoesque Nazgul.
[4:51 PM]
Boromir: the one that sacrificed himself for redemption and at last
agreed that Aragorn was king (no analog); the one that fell to the
Ring most easily due to lack of knowledge and of need and of the
directness of his character. The Nazgul that fell first?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:51 PM
The Merry Nazgul whose job it was to take care for the Pippin nazgul
VardaToday at 4:51 PM
Gimli: melee with an axe and throwing axes, very strong and blocky.
A Nazgul who is blocky and melee.
IrmoToday at 4:51 PM
Hehehehe:)
VardaToday at 4:51 PM
Nice Phar : )
[4:51 PM]
Legolas: ranged fighter with a bow. A Nazgul that throws magic.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:52 PM
I could see a Nazgul shooting down with some powerful crossbow.
VardaToday at 4:52 PM
Yet we never hear of such a shot. Maybe the throwing of dread?
IrmoToday at 4:52 PM
This is fun, but I am going to set myself to dreamland, night all
VardaToday at 4:52 PM
Peregrin: Future Thain of the Shire (32nd) learning about the
outside world; decoy for Frodo. Perhaps a Nazgul that shows a lot of
promise as a potential future leader of some area or activity but
not one yet?
[4:53 PM]
Meriadoc: Decoy for Frodo; protector of the future Thane/Thain,
himself the future Master of Brandybuck Hall.
[4:53 PM]
And I'm done. : )
[4:53 PM]
Good night, Irmo!
[4:53 PM]
It was just a fun thought about roles in the Fellowship that might
have been mirrored by the Nine.
Arien ValarToday at 4:53 PM
good nightg irmo
VardaToday at 4:53 PM
We know little about the Nine. It could help in a fan fic.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:54 PM
Namarie!
[4:54 PM]
And yes, we do have some names, and who went where during the chase
of the Ring.
[4:54 PM]
Khamul was the second-highest, I believe.
VardaToday at 4:55 PM
Aye, he was the second
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:55 PM
Do we have a second in command for the Fellowship?
VardaToday at 4:55 PM
Gandalf, Aragorn
[4:55 PM]
Good question. Frodo?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:56 PM
Frodo was the implied leader in general, in the long term, since the
Fellowship swore to either accompany him or leave him, not force him
to go where he did not want.
[4:56 PM]
I suppose Gandalf and Aragorn were more like... the guides and
strategic commanders.
[4:57 PM]
Sure, they could convince him... Boromir certainly tried.. but
ultimately it was up to Frodo.
[4:58 PM]
We know the Nazgul would split up in their searches as well, as the
Fellowship did. If Frodo was the leader equal to the Witch-king,
Aragorn or Gandalf might have been Khamul leading part of the gang
onto a different path, fighting for the same goal.

VardaToday at 5:04 PM

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:05 PM
Exactly!
VardaToday at 5:05 PM
Thanks for the music. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:05 PM
Ehr, I mean, if you wanted to say anything about my most recent
remarks on the subject.
VardaToday at 5:05 PM
Ah, about Frodo!
[5:06 PM]
Yep, pretty tough to make a counter-character out of Frodo and the
Witch-king. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:06 PM
hehe
[5:06 PM]
Well, no man did kill him.
VardaToday at 5:07 PM
He sailed to the West, so aye to that.
Arien ValarToday at 5:08 PM
a certain parallel to Feanor i see as well in Frodo
[5:08 PM]
you klnow he went to the end with so much suffering
[5:09 PM]
Frodo but in the very end as he stood at the sammath Naur he was
ready to givion to temptation of the ring#
[5:10 PM]
the Valar asked for the Silmaril for the rescue of the eternal light
of the trees but the silmaril had sorlt of taken possession of
Feanors heart so he abandoned all reason
[5:10 PM]
and loyalty
[5:11 PM]
see what i mean? it might be a bit far fetched
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:11 PM
Feanor did go a bit "Precious" there, if that's what you mean.
Arien ValarToday at 5:11 PM
ayep
[5:11 PM]
Feanor > Gollum :)?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:11 PM
hehe
[5:12 PM]
Well, yes, Frodo was in a similar situation.
VardaToday at 5:14 PM
Frodo was supposed to have backup in the form of the Fellowship, as
it was known that no ringbearer could purposely destroy the ring.
The irony is that Gollum became the unintentional backup.
[5:14 PM]
Yet Frodo set that up by the oath Gollum swore on the Precious.
[5:15 PM]
He could be forced over a cliff or into fire. It was both!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:15 PM
Would Sam have stopped Frodo without Gollum there?
[5:15 PM]
He was the backup remaining.
VardaToday at 5:16 PM
Sam was not stopping Frodo.
[5:18 PM]
Let's see why not. looks in book
[5:20 PM]
Frodo headed up the climbing path while Sam fought with Gollum.
[5:20 PM]
They were separated at that time.
[5:21 PM]
Sam went after Frodo with Gollum slinking behind him but Sam didn't
see Gollum.
[5:21 PM]
Sam looks around the mouth into the door of the Sammath Naur but
couldn't see, so he pulled out the phial.
[5:22 PM]
but although it glowed, it threw no light.
[5:22 PM]
He moves slowly in the dark.
[5:23 PM]
The lava makes a jump up and he can see Frodo at the Crack of Doom,
where he should be to throw in the Ring.
[5:23 PM]
But Frodo chooses not to destroy the Ring (as expected) but then he
puts it on and Sam loses sight of him again.
[5:24 PM]
Gollum strikes Sam in the back and flings him aside and Sam blacks
out for a short time.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:24 PM
So it's more like Sam never got the chance to persuade or otherwise
stop him.
VardaToday at 5:24 PM
When Sam gets up
[5:24 PM]
Gollum is already attacking invisible Frodo.
[5:24 PM]
Aye, Phar.
[5:25 PM]
Gollum bites off Frodo's finger with the Ring on it and dances with
it but falls over the cliff as he does so.
[5:26 PM]
Frodo becomes visible and Sam runs to him to help.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:26 PM
"Reaaach- oh, you're still up."
VardaToday at 5:26 PM
So Sam never got to show what he would have done. Gollum did not
hesitate and could possibly see a bit into the otherworld or at
least scent.
[5:27 PM]
The Ring was still on Frodo's finger and still reacting to what
Frodo had said as if it were an instruction/order. Bye bye Gollum.
[5:28 PM]
Would Sam have been able to go against Frodo and take the Ring?
Frodo had powered up a lot when he put the Ring on.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:28 PM
Hoist by its own petard.
VardaToday at 5:28 PM
Aye : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:28 PM
Sam probably would've started by trying to talk to him, persuade him
to let it go, though it wouldn't have helped.
VardaToday at 5:28 PM
What could Sam have done if Gollum had not been there?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:29 PM
As for physically stopping him.. tough one.
VardaToday at 5:29 PM
Aye, he would try to talk him down.
[5:29 PM]
They would not have had much time, as the Nine were flying there.
[5:30 PM]
They knew the Ring was Sauron's and had some of him in it. Sauron
was its true master, so they still served Sauron but might pretend
to serve Frodo until Sauron could reach them.
[5:30 PM]
And no Sauron was not an eyeball. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:30 PM
hehe
[5:30 PM]
I do remember a sort of draft or outline from the History wherein
Sam ended up facing a Nazgul at the entrance.
VardaToday at 5:30 PM
Gollum said he saw that a finger was missing from his blackened
hand.
[5:31 PM]
Sam did have the phial, might have acted as a form of armor?
[5:31 PM]
He was also not the target.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:32 PM
I think it was also a way to show how far he'd come. But I think
Tolkien realized it'd still not be a very fair match.
VardaToday at 5:32 PM
The Nazgul would have overwhelmed them when ready. Or Sauron
himself. Or all together.
[5:32 PM]
Aye, far from a fair match!
[5:32 PM]
If the whole Fellowship or more had been there, one or more might
have been right by Frodo, preventing him from what they knew he
would be compelled to do.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:33 PM
Each holding him by a limb.
VardaToday at 5:33 PM
They had members stronger than he was, probably on purpose.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:33 PM
I suppose Sam was stronger than he was, in a general manner... but
maybe not when invisible and powered up.
VardaToday at 5:33 PM
They might have knocked it from his hand.
[5:34 PM]
Sam had just been knocked out and bloodied.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:34 PM
Before he put it on? Maybe. Sam never got the chance.
[5:34 PM]
Aye.
VardaToday at 5:34 PM
But would not have been if Gollum had not been present.
[5:34 PM]
Other Fellowship members could have stepped into that altercation.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:34 PM
You did say Frodo had already put on the Ring when Sam got knocked
out.
VardaToday at 5:34 PM
Aye
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:35 PM
Knocking it from his hand is one thing. Knocking it from an
invisible finger is more complicated
VardaToday at 5:35 PM
When Sam gets up
Gollum is already attacking invisible Frodo.
[5:35 PM]
(that was a recopy to show you're right)
Note: more of the quote added during making of the
transcript:
[5:23 PM]
The lava makes a jump up and he can see Frodo at the Crack of
Doom, where he should be to throw in the Ring.
[5:23 PM]
But Frodo chooses not to destroy the Ring (as expected) but then he
puts it on and Sam loses sight of him again.
[5:24 PM]
Gollum strikes Sam in the back and flings him aside and Sam
blacks out for a short time.
[5:36 PM]
Prevent him from putting it on in the first place, expecting it.
Know where he was when he disappeared. And elf and dwarf and other
hobbit ears to hear.
[5:36 PM]
And just reach out with long arms.
[5:36 PM]
or many arms
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:36 PM
There's a fun image.
VardaToday at 5:36 PM
heh
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:37 PM
The whole fellowship flailing in the air trying to catch Frodo.
VardaToday at 5:37 PM
The group would have gone in together and tried to have a plan.
[5:37 PM]
They might have carried him in with his consent.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:37 PM
True..
VardaToday at 5:37 PM
He wore the Ring on a chain
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:37 PM
Not a very strong one, apparently,.
VardaToday at 5:37 PM
Maybe tie his hands?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:38 PM
Then someone gets to whip the chain over his head?
VardaToday at 5:38 PM
Aye, never touching the Ring, just the chain.
[5:38 PM]
Preferably not Sam who had also been a Ringbearer.
[5:39 PM]
It might have been hard for Sam to destroy the Ring too. They needed
help.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:39 PM
Boromir also perhaps a bad idea.
VardaToday at 5:39 PM
Needed Faramir for better resistance. : )
[5:39 PM]
Aye, Boromir was also a bad idea.
[5:39 PM]
So anyone else but Sam and Boromir!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:40 PM
Pipping's good at throwing things in holes.
VardaToday at 5:40 PM
Another hobbit would probably be best: Merry or Pippin
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:40 PM
*Pippin
VardaToday at 5:40 PM
There you go
[5:40 PM]
That would give Pippin an important role. I like that.
[5:41 PM]
He may have felt he needed to prove himself too, and be the Thain
protecting the Shire as well.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:41 PM
See Frodo shouting "Fool of a Took!"
VardaToday at 5:41 PM
hahahaha
[5:41 PM]
Perfect.
Arien ValarToday at 5:41 PM
[5:42 PM]
bed time for me here i fear
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:42 PM
Namarie
VardaToday at 5:42 PM
Good night!
[5:42 PM]
We just had to try an alternate ending. : )
Arien ValarToday at 5:42 PM
have fun friends and rest well when the time comes
VardaToday at 5:43 PM
Enough eagles to carry out the whole Fellowship when the protections
are gone.
[5:43 PM]
Sleep well!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:43 PM
Sounds about right.
Arien ValarToday at 5:44 PM
*Frodo stumbles before Nammath saur and the ring gets flung
up in the air every one tries to catch it and dives for it but
presto comes Gwaihir catches it in flight and drops it in*
[5:44 PM]
there you go alternative ending
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:45 PM
He'd have to go to the peak, though, probably can't fit through the
door.
Arien ValarToday at 5:45 PM
Namarie!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:45 PM
namarie!
[5:46 PM]
Time to do the Maw dailies, then I'll start the report
VardaToday at 5:48 PM
Namarie
[5:48 PM]
Gwaihir, the new dark lord.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:48 PM
hehe
VardaToday at 7:03 PM
Just realized never sent out the Bounder message. /facepalm
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:04 PM
whoops
VardaToday at 7:10 PM
Funny how the copy paste seems to grab a lot of the transcript but
actually leaves out a big chunk. I suspect I don't always catch that
error.
NEW
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:11 PM
Yeah, it has to do with scrolling I think, not sure.
[7:11 PM]
I always do the same after I'm done, copy it into a text file, and
then check for the gaps
top
[7:11 PM]
But anyway, personal gaming report!
[7:12 PM]
Well, they said february for the non-flash-badges,
but this week was still mostly flash. Luckily I already had 5 of
them, because the other 2 are not obtainable in this way without
contacting support etc.
[7:13 PM]
But for flashgaming, let's give 3 that at least still work, even if
the badges don't
[7:19 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/swartag/mighty-knight
is the first one! A fighting/arena/upgrade game where you play
through stages with a growing group of champions, getting gold and
upgrading all their attributes, using various abilities to beat the
bad guys.
Kongregate
Mighty Knight
Thousand years ago before the age of zombies,
there live heroes without the power of technology who fights against
the Dark Order. En garde!
[7:19 PM]
Try to make it all the way through
[7:25 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/knigg/epic-coaster
is the second game! Quite simple one, though. You play a
rollercoaster having to jump from track segment to track segment. If
you time the jump perfectly to land at the segment, extra points!
And also bonuses for other events like getting pictures taken or
scaring birds, but those tend to just pop up passively. Just don't
fall
Kongregate
Epic Coaster
A fast paced, addicting platformer controlled
with only one button. Try to stay alive an epic roller coaster ride
by jumping from track to track. Features high...
[7:25 PM]
See how far you get!
[7:29 PM]
Oh, and there's also achievements to get in-game
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:40 PM
https://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/defend-your-honor is the
last one! A "tower" defense game where you put your different types
of adventurers along the path to defeat monsters. Upgrade them with
money in the level, but any extra cash will go your overall treasure
chest which you can use to buy up to 5 characters of the same type
to place in the level.
Kongregate
Defend your Honor!
The king has offered command of his vast army to the Man (or Elf)
who returns his missing Golden Statue. It#39s up to you to find it
and win this grand prize, an...
[7:41 PM]
Make it all the way through to get the walrus king's different
statues

Blizzard gaming:
Heroes of the Storm:
No new levels, alas. Still 445.
[7:51 PM]
Hearthstone:
Reward track up to 65 now, still getting 50g a piece. It's very
slightly slowing down, now, though, since the experience needed per
level is going up ever so slightly. Guess diminishing returns are a
good way to prevent people from feeling pressured
[7:52 PM]
Got a whole lot of packs from the Epic anniversary collection, as
well as some gold to buy more, but haven't spent time opening them
yet.
[7:53 PM]
Did get a random legendary card from those as well, though, a
legendary totem for shamans which looks quite interesting in a totem
deck, if you can keep it alive.
[7:54 PM]
(Oh, for Heroes of the Storm, the collection also gave me the hero
Tracer and 3 versions of her bike mount).
[7:54 PM]
Hearthstone brawl is the All-Star Squad: Pick a class, choose one
card to get 22 copies of it, along with 8 random class cards.
[7:55 PM]
Did some testing and googling and ended up with a mage deck filled
with frost nova, freezing the enemy minions every turn until you
just fireblast the opponent to death
[7:56 PM]
As well, with any luck, burning their cards because they end up out
of room to place their minions, if they're using minion decks.
[7:57 PM]
WoW:
[7:57 PM]
Another boss down, Shade of Kael'thas, on heroic! 4 to go.
[7:59 PM]
Still no new world quests, so yeah, pretty good chance I've got em
all now. Also got all the conduits to 184 ilevel, which means no new
upgrades there. Other than callings and four achievements to get, I
can ignore most world quests for now.
VardaToday at 8:00 PM
(posted. You're up when you have time.)
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:01 PM
Some dungeoning this week as well! Weekly quest was mythic dungeons,
which I hadn't done yet in this expansion. So I decided to not only
do the last dungeon I hadn't done yet on normal, completing the
quest there, but also the first 4 on mythic difficulty. Not too bad,
fortunately. And a heroic raid cloak as reward!
[8:03 PM]
Along the way I got a new legendary power as well, the Timeworn
Dreambinder, which was the 15 memory/power delivered to the
Runecarver, unlocking a short cutscene, making me quite curious to
future reveals
[8:04 PM]
Oh, must mention the anniversary rewards of course New pet,
the Moon-Touched Netherwhelp; new mount, Snowstorm, which I
mentioned earlier, and some free gametime.
[8:04 PM]
(will post this week, probably make something similarly short)
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:05 PM
Heya all.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:06 PM
Between the mythic dungeons and some flashgames I've been playing
longer (among those I've mentioned this week and the last) than I
should, perhaps, didn't get too much done in the story, though I did
get about three quarters of the next covenant campaign chapter.
[8:07 PM]
Finding Aralon's scouting party, trying to rescue a corrupted friend
of his, and in doing so visiting the Thornspeaker in Drustvar as
well as his deceased mentor in Ardenweald, who had to be rescued
from Drust.
[8:07 PM]
Next week we'll see if the cure works
[8:07 PM]
Other than that, just the 2 renown levels from the weekly covenant
quests, putting me at 26.
[8:08 PM]
And that's my report for the week!
[8:08 PM]
For what it's worth, I think this is the longest chapter, so it's
not too bad
[8:10 PM]
Also, Aiya Eonwe!
VardaToday at 8:11 PM
Aiya Eonwe : )
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:13 PM
Sorry I missed the meeting. Hope everyone had fun :}
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:14 PM
We had some nice speculation going
VardaToday at 8:14 PM
You still had plenty of input!
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:20 PM
:}
[8:20 PM]
Did my post help give anyone any ideas for their
posts?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:21 PM
The beginning of some ideas are brewing, now that we have a new
person to interact with.
[8:21 PM]
Or should I say interrogate?
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:21 PM
Hehe.
[8:22 PM]
Well as long as it helped give some ideas :}
VardaToday at 8:23 PM
It was just what we needed.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:25 PM
"Hi, I'm Calion. And I think we've got your horse. You really
shouldn't leave those lying about, anyone can take them."
VardaToday at 8:27 PM
hehe
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:30 PM
well, namarie
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:32 PM
Sleep well Phar :}
VardaToday at 8:33 PM
Namarie!
