Before-meeting
Eonwë ValarYesterday at 2:27 AM
Heya Phar, not that it's a particularly big point, but from our
discussion thread, I noticed reading over my research then rereading
the conversation there:
[2:28 AM]
March 14, 2010
ArPharazonV: in any case, it's a lesser ring, has some
corrupting power, probably made by Saruman and imported the same
way as the staff
[2:29 AM]
Then from you later: May 9, 2020 at 4:19pm ArPharazon
said:
And I'm pretty sure we established it was a lesser ring
forged in Eregion. Or that was my intention, anyway.
[2:30 AM]
We both seemed to settle for the latter statement as the best
option, I just want to make sure we're still on that train, hehe.

Hey Eonwë!
[4:03 PM]

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:03 PM
And Eonwe, honestly, that contradiction doesn't surprise me. The
details have always been kinda vague, and getting vaguer of the
years. Whatever works, works; consistency is a bonus
[4:04 PM]
That said, if others manage to keep track of such things, I'm happy
to follow along.
VardaToday at 4:04 PM
That's why an outline can help, at least for the broad strokes.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:04 PM

we would like to be doing fun stuff related to that.

VardaToday at 4:07 PM

VardaToday at 4:08 PM

We have cheesecake and whipped cream, because it's funny. [Note:
with cherries and dark chocolate chips]
[4:09 PM]
But the waffles and bacon and fried eggs were just as happily
received.
MahaToday at 4:10 PM
No, not those chalky heart things, they were tiny heart sprinkles.
VardaToday at 4:10 PM
O fun!
[4:10 PM]

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:10 PM

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:12 PM
Aiya!

VardaToday at 4:12 PM
In important news (ok not), Fangorn now has our bird feeder up. Not
a normal one because he has a natural tendency to Rube Goldberg.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:12 PM
Yay Goldberg machines!
LenweToday at 4:13 PM
Is it 200% squirrel proof?
VardaToday at 4:14 PM
Is anything? Maybe. We hope to distract them with a corn
feeder.
[4:14 PM]
We have lots of squirrels.
[4:15 PM]
Suggestions welcome. And we think it may be; we'll find out.
LenweToday at 4:15 PM
Our neighborhood is full of free-roaming cats. I fear that putting
up a feeder in our back garden would be turning the birds into an
easy snack
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:15 PM
Feed the birds and the cats. Win-win?
VardaToday at 4:16 PM
Aye, we have cats. It should be cat proof, well off the ground and
with crazy ways to hold it up
[4:16 PM]
heh Phar
LenweToday at 4:16 PM
Hehe Pharazon. Birds die happy, cats get plump birds
VardaToday at 4:16 PM
I mean, free-roaming cats in the area, not that we have cats. Two
people here allergic to them.
Eonwë ValarToday at 4:17 PM
Heh, Lenwë's + Phar's comments reminded of a scene from a Lesley
Nielson movie.
VardaToday at 4:17 PM
We pet the cats. Very friendly. But we don't intend to feed them
birds. We do think in this cold it would be nice to help them a bit
though.
[4:17 PM]
It does sound like one of his. : )
[4:18 PM]
Oh, and Tulkas has been gaming on LotRO again. Got his computer set
up again.
Eonwë ValarToday at 4:18 PM

scene again to be sure. hehe

Anyway, the Tolkien Society gave an idea for today's topic:
[4:45 PM]
How was Tolkien's writing received?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:45 PM
(in books)
VardaToday at 4:45 PM
In our case, what brought the Hobbit or Lord of the
Rings or other Tolkien work to your attention first such as
friend or family recommendation, school, advertisement, interesting
title on the bookshelf where you shopped or used the library?
[4:46 PM]
I've been trying to remember how I first ran into it. Heard about
"Frodo lives" written on walls and subways. I read it for fun, as a
cult classic.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:46 PM
I remember first reading about the Dutch version in some review of a
school kid's magazine or something. Always stuck with me. But it
wasn't until years later in high school that I found the trilogy, in
English, in the school library.
IrmoToday at 4:47 PM
1978, I was a student, my landlady had the book, I borrowed it
VardaToday at 4:47 PM
Yay school libraries! I ran across a bunch of fun reads in those
even in K-12. Here's hoping schools still have them.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:47 PM
Curiosity peaked, gave it a go, liked it.
VardaToday at 4:47 PM
Wonderful landlady!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:48 PM

gotten the others before the win.
[4:49 PM]

Take care Tulkas :}

Namarie, meldo : )
Eonwë ValarToday at 5:19 PM
(In reference to my "Zoom" joke: Zoom/Professor Zoom, a name for
"Reverse Flash" at some point along the way.)
VardaToday at 5:19 PM
And once again, we have meetings of old friends. : )
[5:19 PM]
ahh! ok, thanks
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:19 PM
Aaah. Right. Watched the tv show at some point, I remember Zoom.
[5:20 PM]
Season after that was Savitar, I think.
Eonwë ValarToday at 6:07 PM
All this going over our old RP discussions
is sparking ideas for backstories. I might need a new series in my
Stories section on the Site, hehe.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:08 PM
I haven't worked on my biographies since Shadowlands launched...
[6:10 PM]
I have a short outline for my priest's, though...
[6:12 PM]
Getting distracted by youtube channels and stuff like that doesn't
help
Eonwë ValarToday at 6:13 PM
By backstories, I mean more like, the creation of the glaive and how
it got broken up.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:14 PM
Ah yes, I was more talking about character stuff, like you've done
with auros
Eonwë ValarToday at 6:14 PM
I got that, aye :}
[6:15 PM]
But yeah, getting distracted by youtube doesn't help :}
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:15 PM
Been watching Command and Conquer, Red Alert, etc videos lately.
[6:15 PM]
I think I'll add them to my gaming list
Eonwë ValarToday at 6:15 PM
Some more distraction for you, since we talked about it:

Not heard this version, I think.
[6:16 PM]
Nope, definitely not.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:24 PM
I've been watching some C&C franchise stuff lately. Cinematics,
soundtracks.. I think I'll add the entire series to my future gaming
list.
[6:24 PM]
Found a collection of 17 games in the series
[6:27 PM]
Played a bunch of Tiberian Sun and all 3 Red Alerts before, kinda
like to see all of it and play it prop'rly
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:17 PM
On that note, time for personal gaming report!

Flashgaming: they still haven't managed
to make all badges of the week non-flashgames, though by some lucky
coincidence, the 2 I was missing were both non-flash.

But for the first game, on flash, let's give

Blizzard gaming:
[7:46 PM]
Heroes of the Storm:
New level got, to 446! Morales to 13. Playing a lot of healers these
days, apparently!
[7:48 PM]
Hearthstone:
Level 34 with the demon hunter got, golden Chaos Strike card, very
nice!
[7:49 PM]
They're going to rotate out the core set, though, changing basic and
classic cards, also changing the gold card rewards for leveling up.
For most classes that doesn't matter to me since they're level 60
already, but the demon hunter will get a
[7:49 PM]
number of different cards upgraded unpredictably, I'm guessing
[7:49 PM]
The core thing is pretty weird, since you get them for free and then
have them taken away at the end of the year, while the others become
craftable.
[7:50 PM]
With classic pack rewards also being changed, with a bunch of those
becoming "legacy".
[7:50 PM]
I guess I'll see about all that as I go, using whatever cards are
available. My goals of getting every card are kinda... gone anyway,
with new expansions coming in all the time.
[7:51 PM]
Brawl is a lunar festival one. Choose a class, get a random deck,
choose from 3 random bonuses for all your minions, such as rush,
reborn, or +3 health, which is the one I won my game with.
[7:52 PM]
Still, lots of randomness, so can take a while
[7:52 PM]
WoW:
Raiding continues! One more heroic bossfight down, the Council of
Blood.
[7:53 PM]
Pretty tough, with lots of adds and mechanics to dodge.
[7:53 PM]
Only the last wing remaining, with the last 3 bosses. Our focus is
solely on heroic for now, so we hope to make progress there soon.
[7:55 PM]
Found 2 new world quests gasp so added those to my
list Unlocked higher world quest rewards too, and while the
gear isn't much of an upgrade, I am upgrading my conduits along the
way from wqs and callings.
[7:55 PM]
Time to get em all to 200!
Eonwë ValarToday at 7:56 PM
That's where I am right now, getting them to 200.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:00 PM
Yeah, I'm almost caught up in renown now, so should be caught up on
that as well
[8:00 PM]
Oh, also for world quests, got my 10th parasoling world quest done,
which means I got the floaty parasol toy
[8:00 PM]
And can stop doing that quest!
[8:01 PM]
Weekly is pet battles, which as always I'm doing from the garrison
to inch further on that one achievement to win 2000 pet battles in
Draenor.
[8:01 PM]
5 per event isn't much, but it helps
[8:02 PM]
Love in the Air event also going, for which I'm killing the
apothecary bosses every day with the one char who can loot the
rocket mount, for which level 50 or higher is required.(edited)
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:04 PM
I'm running all of my guild characters, since it's a good bit of exp
as well.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:04 PM
Questing going well! Completed the cure for the covenant campaign,
but alas, it still kills the patient. So eh, worse than the disease?
[8:04 PM]
Ah, yes, that works too
[8:06 PM]
Then I went to Torghast, finding a clue to Thrall's location. My
first difficulty 6, which also got me the Stable Phantasma Lure
power, giving more phantasma in Torghast if you make a legendary out
of it. Not a priority though, in fact, having a regular legendary to
use in Torghast might still be better.
[8:08 PM]
I suppose I could make it, use it, and then switch out for the sixth
floor boss.
[8:10 PM]
Anyway, got a new companion out of Torghast as well, Meatball the
gnoll, a fan-favorite
[8:11 PM]
Also got Qadarin through renown, putting me now at 9 adventurer
companions.
[8:12 PM]
Then I continued the covenant campaign with a slightly shorter
chapter, to find and help Huln of Highmountain, an expert tracker in
the afterlife, and hopefully he'll be able to help us free Tyrande
from the Night Warrior curse.
[8:13 PM]
And finally I freed Thrall from Torghast! Tough Torghast wing; the
enemies were easy enough, but the place was filled with traps and
phantasma was low.
[8:13 PM]
That's one way to give you trouble even when you're geared up, I
guess
[8:15 PM]
Got my renown from 26 to 30 in total this week, with the cap now
being 32, but I still have 2 covenant chapters to go.
[8:16 PM]
Next week I'll join Bwonsamdi once again, and probably go through
the Twisting Corridors for the first time!
[8:18 PM]
From what I've read, though, I'd better have an entire evening free
for that
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:18 PM
Yes, you'll need it :}
[8:18 PM]
I spent a couple of hours on each of the three layers I tried. 18
floors.
[8:19 PM]
*18 floors per layer.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:19 PM
6 floors already takes me like an hour, considering I try to grab
everything.
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:20 PM
yeah
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:21 PM
Any case, that's my report for the week!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:46 PM
namarie!
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:46 PM
Sleep well :}
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:47 PM
you too
Eonwë ValarToday at 8:51 PM
It's too bad Blizzard doesn't let us wear a full set of legendaries.
That'd make the expensive grind to craft the highest ilvl more
worthwhile.
