Before-meeting
Eonwë Valar — 07/30/2021
Wow, Crafter's Mark of the Chained Isle is completely pointless: can't be used to boost weapons, and the result isn't better than or even equal to the upgradeable gear from Korthia.(edited)

Varda — Yesterday at 4:06 PM
We've been called a "care bears" guild sometimes, for our play style being mostly friendly, heh. Appropriate.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:07 PM
Nothing wrong with the care bears! Though I mostly only remember them from an old comic book from my far ago youth.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:07 PM
: )
[4:07 PM]
And now a handy YouTube from Eonwe.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:08 PM

[4:13 PM]
Hearthstone:

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:13 PM
Arathi Blizzard? Over here it's Hillsbrad/Southshore.. didn't notice they were different.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:13 PM
Patch 21.0 is outcoming out August 3rd. --- https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/news/23663246/21-0-patch-notes
21.0 Patch Notes
The 21.0 patch readies the Tavern for United in Stormwind, brings cosmetics to Battlegrounds, and includes a major update for Duels.

[4:13 PM]
Let me double check, but that's what the event calendar told me when I did the news.
[4:16 PM]
Event Calendar says Arathi Blizzard, PvP Queue says Southshore Vs. Tarren Mill.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:16 PM
Heh, you're right. My event calendar does say Arathi. But yes, I did the brawl and it was South/Tarren.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:16 PM
That's going to make keeping up with this a pain if I'm going to have to check the queue to make sure it matches the event calendar every week,.(edited)
[4:17 PM]
Anyway, there's the deal.
[4:18 PM]
Next week's Bonus Event claims to be Burning Crusade Timewalking.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:19 PM
Well, that one's accurate for this week anyway, so maybe it's just the brawls that are off

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:19 PM
That's it for my gaming news.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:20 PM
Thank you, Eonwe.
[4:20 PM]

Tolkien!
[4:29 PM]
What kind of communication was there between Valinor and Middle-earth?
[4:29 PM]
(Any of the books.)

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:29 PM
Dreams

Varda — Yesterday at 4:29 PM
True.
[4:29 PM]
Gandalf as Olorin did a fair bit of that, for one.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:30 PM
Palantiri, if you count the elf island.
[4:30 PM]
Eressea. Sorry, escaped me for a bit.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:30 PM
Elves, when we consider Numenor specifically. Messengers to Numenor as well, at least on one occasion.
[4:31 PM]
Well, it did move from one end of the ocean to the other. Easy to miss.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:32 PM
All types of communication are being looked at, right now.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:32 PM
Orome visited Middle-Earth a few times.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:32 PM
Messages carried by ship.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
As did Ulmo, come to think of it.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
(Making a joke in reference to Phar saying Eressea escaped him.)

Varda — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
Never saw a mention of carrier pigeons.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
:)

Varda — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
hah! : )

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
I got it, Eonwe

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
The rivers for example .. Ulmo used them to gather message from Middlearth and watch over it

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
Fair enough :}

Irmo — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
Vattier eagles might qualify

Varda — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
Aye, Arien. He used all forms of water for that.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
Ulmo spoke directly at one point as well.

Irmo — Yesterday at 4:33 PM
Carrier
[4:34 PM]
Carrier eagles

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:34 PM
They were more mentioned as carrying people rather than messages

Varda — Yesterday at 4:34 PM
Eagles were part of Manwe's communication and subtle outreach, even if maybe not carrying scrolls. Who knows? They might have sometimes?

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:34 PM
Though they did report back to Manwe, true.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:34 PM
They didn't like carrying people, heh.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:34 PM
Or did they communicate with him otherwise?

Irmo — Yesterday at 4:35 PM
But I still think the primary comms were between the palantiri on Tol Erresea and Lindon (Cirdan)

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:35 PM
Gwaihir carried a message once, and then had to carry a wizard because of it. Too much work.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:35 PM
Manwe and Varda on top of Taniquetil when together could between them see and hear almost everything. The deeeeep darkness was a problem.
[4:36 PM]
Irmo, that sounds right for two-way communication.
We know of some Valar that went between the lands. We know of some Maiar.
[4:37 PM]
Want to bet there were a lot more Maiar than we knew about? We just heard of ones affecting the main story.
The bridge of dreams, to go along with Arien's earlier suggestion.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:37 PM
Probably everywhere, just couldnt'see em!

Varda — Yesterday at 4:37 PM
May not have recognized them when seen.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
Aren't their religions that say every tree and rock has a spirit?
[4:38 PM]
*there

Varda — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
They didn't have to look humanoid. Ulmo could be a standing wave, Yavanna a great tree.
[4:38 PM]
Aye, Phar.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
They're all Maiar!
[4:38 PM]
Every rock is a Maiar!

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:38 PM
Aye, quite possible alot of Maiar with their hands in alot of different things we don't know about simply because they weren't important to primary arc of history in Arda, or at the least weren't known to be about.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:39 PM
*A Maia
[4:39 PM]
Every bee is a Maia!

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:40 PM
Everyone gets a Maia? :}

Varda — Yesterday at 4:40 PM
The Maiar could be quite minor or approach the power of a Vala.
hehe
The beacons being lit for emergency calls.
The Red Arrow.
[4:41 PM]
Riders on horses.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:41 PM
Oh, I thought you meant between Valinor and Middle-Earth.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:41 PM
So we moved from Aman/Endor communication to communication anywhere in Arda?
[4:42 PM]
OK, here's one for you then:

Varda — Yesterday at 4:42 PM
Sorry.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:42 PM
Prophecies -- communication from the past to the future :}

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:42 PM
hehe
[4:42 PM]
I was thinking something as simple as letters

Varda — Yesterday at 4:42 PM
You're right, it said between Valinor and Middle-earth.
[4:43 PM]
They could have used some of those things that were normal human stuff and inserted their own. Neat trick.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:43 PM
haha Phara that is a good one

Varda — Yesterday at 4:43 PM
Runes from Valinor that came to Middle-earth is right on the edge of the topic. : )

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:44 PM
Every bee is a Maia .. nice

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:44 PM
I wondered if someone'd see it.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:44 PM
Erg,.. did I just miss a "Maya the Bee" joke? D'oh.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:45 PM
It's going right overhead, above me. : )
[4:45 PM]
May it bee is the closest I can guess.

Maya the Bee (German: Die Biene Maja) is the main character in The Adventures of Maya the Bee, a German book written by Waldemar Bonsels and published in 1912.
The book has been published in many other languages and adapted into different media.
The first American edition was published in 1922 by Thomas Seltzer.

[4:46 PM]
Looks old enough.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:46 PM
Pretty sure that was the one on tv here as well.

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:46 PM
i grew up with the cartoon version on german kids tv

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:46 PM
Looks like that one might have been Japanese in origin.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:47 PM
Thank you. New to me.

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:53 PM
The Noldor, after their fashion. Brought news of the Death of the Trees and other knowledge from Aman to Endor.

Varda — Yesterday at 4:53 PM
Aye
A lot of crafting knowledge was a huge help they brought over.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 4:54 PM
(huh, I really expected the domination shard chisel in WoW to be one-time use... 2500 styg for a permanently useable one isn't bad!)

Varda — Yesterday at 4:55 PM
: )

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 4:55 PM
Congrats :}

Arien  Valar — Yesterday at 4:55 PM
Stars
[4:56 PM]
stars were put to the sky to welcome the Firstborn to Arda and even later on they became a sign of hope
[4:57 PM]
if i remember right Frodo and Sam saw briefly a lonely star in the sky when they were in Mordor and it gave them hope

Varda — Yesterday at 4:57 PM
Your memory is good.
[4:57 PM]
And starlight in water if from a silmaril especially, as went into the Phial of Galadriel.

Recently tried Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge on Hard Mode. Gonna be working through that for a while. Too bad I have to complete the whole game on the difficulty to unlock the individual chapter challenges at that difficulty.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:02 PM
At least you'll be busy for a while
[6:03 PM]
Personal gaming report:
[6:03 PM]
For (non)flashgaming, no new badges this week, so I'll give 3 which I'd already completed. Tough choice, though, since I have the feeling I've linked em all recently already.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:22 PM
Well, this choice will do

Shelob — Yesterday at 6:34 PM
Good evening.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:34 PM
Evening!

Shelob — Yesterday at 6:36 PM
How's you doing?

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:37 PM
Pretty good, replaying a game I'm about to link so I can explain it better

Shelob — Yesterday at 6:38 PM
Which one?

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:39 PM
https://www.kongregate.com/games/TadasGloom/life-in-the-static as the first of the 3 kongregate games for this week, a platformer wherein you play in a world of static, with the ability to stop time (which affects certain mechanics), in order to find the brain at the end of each level.
    Kongregate
    Life in the Static
Life in the Static is a simple atmospheric platforming game where you have an ability to stop time. There are no cows in this game unfortunately.

[6:39 PM]
Meant as a tragic story about Alzheimer, most of which was cut for this version, but it's still a fun puzzle platformer.

Shelob — Yesterday at 6:40 PM
Interesting.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 6:41 PM
https://www.kongregate.com/games/KekGames/unpuzzle for the second game! One of a series I've linked more often recently (and have replayed myself oh so many times) wherein you need to remove a puzzle one piece at a time, hindered by a variation of mechanics such as links, rotations etc.
    Kongregate
    Unpuzzle
    Clear levels piece by piece.

Shelob — Yesterday at 6:42 PM
Oh, I remember something like that!

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 7:22 PM
And let's do... https://www.kongregate.com/games/adventale/monster-clearer for the third game! An rpg-like game where you have to clear the monsters in each level by clicking the one you want to attack. I'll take multiple tries per level, but you'll get loot, xp, talents, etc to upgrade yourself, and the upgrades are pretty straightforward.
    Kongregate
    Monster Clearer
    A simple pseudo-rpg.

[7:23 PM]
Main customization is the skill build, between attack, defense and magic. But wherever you put your points, you should be able to make it through eventually

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 7:41 PM
Blizzard gaming:
[7:43 PM]
Despite an evening without electricity and another evening where I'd gone to see a movie, I did manage to get some Heroes of the Storm matches this week.
[7:44 PM]
Heroes of the Storm:
No new levels, but had a try at Morales after her changes. Some talentbuild alterations were needed.
[7:47 PM]
Hearthstone:
reward track to 160. It won't get much further, because the new expansion launches in a few days. But that's fine, just getting gold is boring
Speaking of gold, still not enough for the next hero skin
[7:49 PM]
Brawl is a clone fight, choose a class, get a random deck, every minion you play gets a 1/1 clone. Had some wins with demon hunter, as a few of the minions would proc something on attack, and even a 1/1 has the same effect
[7:50 PM]
WoW:
Raiding still going well, some more attempts on normal Fatescribe, but we also poked it on heroic difficulty for the first time, defeating the Tarragrue and struggling with the Eye.
[7:51 PM]
We also got some leather pants to drop from trash several times, one of which became mine, and on heroic they're ilevel 239, very nice
[7:52 PM]
And another blood-type shard of domination. Gotta collect all 3 for my tanking bonus, 1 to go
[7:53 PM]
Weekly is world quests, which I've been doing normally. I'll probably need to do some extra on tuesday, though, to get all 20.
[7:54 PM]
Delved a bit more into Torghast, getting enough soul ash to create a replacement legendary for when I get a headpiece from the raid, but cinders kinda lacking behind. I like building up the Tower Knowledge though.
[7:55 PM]
Got my renown up to 50, giving me a 2% stamina increase, always nice
[7:56 PM]
As well as honor level 80 through the brawl! Thus unlocking my last missing druid artifact appearances, including a new cat and bearform, which I've switched to for the novelty  Very intimidating!
[7:57 PM]
Of note, the bearform is the form we saw on Ursoc in the Emerald Nightmare raid. With Ursoc's loss in the Ardenweald preview, I wanted to collect this as a tribute... and now that I have it, I like to think I've picked up some of his essence in Ardenweald
[7:59 PM]
Also, for anima, picked up some more cloak appearances; and for pet charms, Stemmins, one of the little plant pets  Only one Ardenweald pet vendor remaining.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:19 PM
And since I didn't have time to alt, that's my report for the week!
[8:24 PM]
namarie!

Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 8:27 PM
Sleep well.

Ar-Pharazon-V — Yesterday at 8:27 PM
