Before-meeting
Eonwë Valar — 03/30/2021
Well, no horse from Arthas this week either.
March 31, 2021
Eonwë Valar — 03/31/2021
Just upgraded to rank 2 of my Anima Conductor.
April 3, 2021
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 2:59 AM
Just got Colossal Slaughterclaw from the Undying Army Supply Cache.
[3:02 AM]
25 more mounts to go to to 350. Could probably get about 10 from
vendors if I wanted to drop the gold.
Eonwë Valar — Yesterday at 9:43 PM
Salutations Saturdayers.
April 4, 2021
Varda — Today at 3:36 PM
Grats, Eonwe. : )
[3:36 PM]
Happy Easter vacation!
Eonwë Valar — Today at 3:37 PM
Happy Easter all.
[3:37 PM]
and thanks :}
Varda — Today at 3:48 PM

Irmo — Today at 3:49 PM
Merry Easter folks!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 3:50 PM
Aiya folks!
Varda — Today at 3:50 PM
Aiya Irmo and Phar : )
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 3:51 PM
And happy merry easter bunny chocolate egg zombie jesus day!
Irmo — Today at 3:51 PM
Ok Phar, everything made sense in that sentence except the zombie
part
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 3:52 PM
He came back from the dead, duh
Varda — Today at 3:52 PM
old meme
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 3:52 PM
Pretty much.
Eonwë Valar — Today at 3:52 PM
Ok, you all made me do it....
[3:53 PM]
I'm going to tie that right into Tolkien.
[3:56 PM]
We're told and shown on many occasions that evil cannot create
anything new of its own, only corrupt or mock. The modern "zombie"
in fantasy/sci-fi therefore, would be the corruption of the concept
of "resurrection".
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 3:59 PM
It's basically bringing the spirit back without fixing the body.
[3:59 PM]
Or without spirit.
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:00 PM
And I say "modern" because if you look at some older uses of
"zombie" it was more "Mind control" than "I'm animating this
corpse."
Varda — Today at 4:00 PM
Drugs in use for vodun, to gain a slave or for fear, mainly.
[4:01 PM]
And it's now that time!
[4:02 PM]
@Bounder Rejoice for it's time to hang out with your Valarite
friends in meeting_place. Lurk, say hi!, join in the chat!
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:02 PM
Sounds like something Morgoth would find more useful than would the
Valar to me, Phar :}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:03 PM
Yeah, I'm sure the Valar would fix up the body as well as the
spirit Or in Gandalf's case even upgrade it.
Varda — Today at 4:03 PM
I'd guess maybe Sauron the Necromancer? He was the one that did most
of the nuts and bolts work for Morgoth.
[4:04 PM]
Aye, Phar. Namo worked on that in Mandos.
[4:04 PM]
I wonder if Namo had a hand in helping with the upgrade for Gandalf?
Arien Valar — Today at 4:04 PM
Happy Easter all ::)
Varda — Today at 4:04 PM
Happy Easter, Sunshine!
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:04 PM
Aiya!
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:04 PM
Aye, the Valar would create a new form based on the blueprint kept
within the Fëa.
[4:04 PM]
Like unto the original.
Varda — Today at 4:05 PM
The fea did give the concept used in the hroa, such as sometimes
Yavanna would be in tree-form, or Ulmo as a wave.
[4:06 PM]
It doesn't mention much about the odd forms of the others, does it?
Maybe Manwe could be a current of air?
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:06 PM
Happy cloud...
[4:06 PM]
Hmm, tough to see anything made of air alone.
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:06 PM
The modern zombie would certainly be something that would fall under
"Necromancy". Doesn't have to be the original spirit inhabiting the
corpse,
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:06 PM
In many stories it is though.
Arien Valar — Today at 4:07 PM
Didnt Manwe manifest as Eagle sometimes?
[4:07 PM]
or would the gust of wind precede that?
Varda — Today at 4:08 PM
The birds of the air worked with Manwe. Did he become one at some
time? I don't remember reading such a thing. It's an interesting
question. Mostly we hear of his use of wind, such as blowing away
Saruman's and Sauron's foggy feas.
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:08 PM
In many stories where the spiritual part of it is taken into the
account and not the strict natural, aye Phar.
[4:08 PM]
I.e., sci-fi doesn't usually get into that angle.
[4:09 PM]
Though it would certainly be another terrifying aspect of the
condition.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:09 PM
In sci-fi stories it often doesn't even talk about the spirit, but I
think I've seen plenty where the original person/identity is still
in there after zombification.
[4:09 PM]
Which would definitely count.
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:09 PM
Fair enough.
Varda — Today at 4:10 PM
Maybe some would be like old programming from the spirit that had
left?
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:10 PM
Either way, it's less likely in Tolkien's world, unless it were
someone already in service to Sauron/Morgoth. I.E., the Nazgul.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:11 PM
True, Eonwe. If restricting it to Tolkien, which makes sense in
here, that does seem less likely.
[4:11 PM]
In Warcraft, though, for example, the undead brought back do get
their souls returned, but it usually comes with either mind control
or a severe change in personality.
[4:12 PM]
For those who still play, Sylvanas, Delaryn and Sira come to mind
[4:12 PM]
But we're not in Tolkien section yet are we?
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:13 PM
Each world/universe/existence/story is going to have its own rules,
natural and supernatural, by which it's governed, so just tying it
back to my connecting it to Tolkien that I started with at the
beginning.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:13 PM
That's fine, but I was worried you were going to make it a universal
thing and tie it back to zombie Jesus
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:14 PM
Well that's what made me point out that "zombie" would be the
corruption of what we'd be talking about with Jesus :}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:15 PM
And my point is that zombie can also mean his resurrection without
the healing of his body
[4:15 PM]
while still containing his soul
[4:15 PM]
Nice to come full circle.
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:16 PM
Resurrection is typically understood to not just be stuck into a
rotting corpse, while the modern zombie is.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:16 PM
Well, the alternate interpretation is why it's a meme.
[4:16 PM]
And "typically understood" can change
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:18 PM
It would be a terrible and terrifying condition in a world where the
understanding was the soul would be trapped in such a condition. I
need look no further than the Forsaken in Warcraft. It would not be
a natural state.
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 4:19 PM
Well then it's a good thing resurrection itself is hardly a natural,
typical occurrence
Eonwë Valar — Today at 4:19 PM
Anyway, I don't want to delay the meeting with discussing zombies :}
My apologies :}
Varda — Today at 4:19 PM
In good news, Happy Easter is not intended to be an attack on
anyone, but a happy comment. For some, it just means yay vacation
time, for others [Note: Varda included] it's deeply spiritual. So,
onwards!

For flashgaming... it's officially no
longer flashgames on kongregate as badges of the day; I had the 3
flash badges on the first 3 days but had to get 3 new ones from the
April ones, and from here on they'll all be non-flash so they can
still be earned easily.
[7:00 PM]
So here's the 3 games that were new for me this week
[7:01 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/SmallIsBeautiful/super-ordinary-joe
is the first game! A simple platformer upgrade game. Good old Mario
style game, starring super ordinary joe, a normal guy who's horribly
out of shape, who has to try to get across the level to find his
cake reward.
Kongregate
Super Ordinary Joe
For Joe, the path to success is right ahead, but
is he dedicated enough to attain it? Grind your way to a healthy
athletic body in this upgrade / platformer ga...
[7:02 PM]
But you can't get there right away; Joe can't jump very high or
punch very hard or get very far before being fatigued.
[7:02 PM]
Instead, gather coins, eat vegetables to fill up your energy, and
unlock more and more upgrades as you manage to get further in.
[7:03 PM]
2 levels; first one's enough for the badge, but if you're going
ahead in the second one too, make sure you keep an eye on your
coins, and don't upgrade unless you have enough to fill your energy
as well. It's a lot of grinding.
[7:06 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/stormwars/storm-wars
is the second game! A ccg -- not the one I mentioned earlier in the
gaming news, but one I hadn't seen until this week -- taking place
in a fantasy world. Many cards to collect, either from gold or from
the story; various factions to get cards from, and several heroes to
get as you go along the story campaign.

Storm Wars
Lightning-fast card battles. Captivating deck

back here more often
[7:13 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/KekGames/unpuzzler
is the last one, and the best one, in my puzzler's opinion
Clear each level by removing one piece at a time, depending on how
they're interlocked. More mechanisms as you go, like pieces that are
locked until a certain number of others have gone, switches,
rotating pieces, etc.

Third in a series, and I loved it so much I played through the other
parts as well, each with the same idea but different mechanics and
configurations
[7:15 PM]

Found out that there's a new inventory slot which was introduced
in.... 2009 or so?
[7:25 PM]
The base version is 5 slots, which can just be gotten for money;
later upgrades require special currency which I may invest in later
on.
[7:26 PM]
Oh, and spent some gold buying a few armor dyes, I always wanted to
dye my ranger's armor red to go with her hair and guild tabard
[7:27 PM]
Red ranger's looking good!
[7:30 PM]
Dye, and other rare trader mats, have a rather odd system in GW...
apparently a supply and demand system depending on how much people
sell the stuff to crafters. But since population is low now and all
the dyes cost 100 gold, I'm guessing that's like a default.
[7:32 PM]
Oh, and I found out there is a forum around, https://guildwarslegacy.com/forum/
Guild Wars Legacy
Guild Wars Legacy
The site for and by Guild Wars fans!
[7:33 PM]
Which also leads to a Discord but I don't want to get that involved,
I'll just look up some questions on the forum
[7:34 PM]
Heroes of the Storm:
No new levels, still 451.
[7:35 PM]
Hearthstone:
New expansion arrived, with new reward track, game modes,
legendaries to get, etc.
[7:36 PM]
Luckily my wild decks remain playable, despite the changing out of
the core deck; my standard mode quest decks will be adapted as I
need them.
[7:38 PM]
Reward track going well, got to level 30 already, getting me a bunch
of golden commons and rares, and 2 legendaries: Mankrik, the default
level 1 legendary for anyone who logs in, and a random one,
Plaguemaw the Rotting.
[7:39 PM]
Level 100 portrait rewards repeating, confirmed. I wonder which one
I'll get this time
[7:40 PM]
Noblegarden brawl! You get a new egg each turn, with a deck full of
dyes and a few class cards, use the dye on eggs to give them random
buffs when they hatch into a random low level minion.
[7:41 PM]
Most of the eggs are "cute" minions, so I went with hunter class for
some potential synergy. Was a nice win
[7:41 PM]
WoW:
[7:42 PM]
Heroic Denathrius going well! We had him below 10% two times last
raid. Getting each phase under control, but phase 3 gets tight with
various abilities overlapping in different combinations as the phase
goes on.
[7:44 PM]
Weekly quest is pet battles, nice to do on the side in my garrison
[7:46 PM]
Started doing a few less objectives in Ardenweald for grateful
offerings, skipping the daily quests and only doing the world quest
when it gives anima. Did some comparison between the anima and
offerings I need, and I'm figuring that as long as I have an
offering/anima ratio of at least 1:10, I'll not be short on
offerings.
[7:47 PM]
1 new pet, Maw Crawler, from Torghast, a crawling hand on fire.
Looks weird.
[7:48 PM]
Also 4 new toys: Tithe Collector's Vessel from a world quest in
Revendreth, Infested Arachnid Casing from undying army supplies, and
Malfunctioning Goliath Gauntlet and Mark of Purity from a single
ascended paragon supplies
[7:48 PM]
paragon going well!
[7:50 PM]
With the conductor tier 3 unlocked, got around to fighting the big
elite in Tirna Scithe. Got the Shadowstalker Soulshape on the first
kill, but I'll continue killing him every day until I get the mount
he drops, or until I buy that mount as the last possible thing for
anima and offerings.
[7:51 PM]
Either way, could take a while.
[7:51 PM]
Got the legendary power from Theater of Pain dungeon at last!
[7:52 PM]
Then went to the Maw, got max rep with Ve'nari, completed her
weeklies, as well as her last story quest.
[7:52 PM]
Bought the final permanent Torghast upgrade, and the legendary power
she sells.
[7:52 PM]
And between those two powers, I have all legendary memories unlocked
for druid!
[7:53 PM]
But not the only rep I maxed; Marasmius exalted! Can now buy all the
stuff from the mushroom man, when I get the anima anyway, and will
only do his quests from here on if they give anima.
[7:54 PM]
Finally got enough anima now to get the conservatory upgraded to
tier 2, which I initiated tonight. Tomorrow we'll get started on all
the catalyst stuff.
[7:56 PM]
Command table stagnating a bit, as I'm always throwing the lowest
level ones at the xp missions... troops have grown from 30 to 32,
but considering my lowest adventurer is now 31, they won't grow as
fast anymore, I'm thinking.
[7:57 PM]
Still, getting more success chance at the missions at this
difficulty, so that's good. More charms and spirits needed!
[7:58 PM]
And finally, alting! Got my mage to 25, unlocking portals. I figured
I'd need to visit all the locations to get all the different
portals, but turns out each trainer sells all the portals.
[7:58 PM]
So now basically she's free to go anywhere
[7:58 PM]
But she'll have to wait, since getting the paladin from 25 to 30 is
the next goal
[7:58 PM]
And that's my report for the week!
Eonwë Valar — Today at 8:07 PM
Congrats :}
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:07 PM
Thanks!
Ioreth — Today at 8:18 PM
The normal group I'm in can clear in 3 hours (depending on who is
there) Heroic though is hard, I've got 4/10 though
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:19 PM
Yeah, we've cleared normal in one night before, I think.
Ioreth — Today at 8:20 PM
I'm in a guild that has no interest in Mythic, which is nice, that
means they are not drive drive drive and pushing and give folks time
to learn
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:21 PM
Same here We may try mythic if our numbers are right and
everyone's bored with heroic, but last mythic raid we cleared
completely was Siege of Orgrimmar
[8:21 PM]
In fact, I think last time we even tried mythic was on first boss in
Eternal Palace.
Ioreth — Today at 8:22 PM
I just want to be good enough to do AOTC for the next raid, I'm sure
there will be a mount
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:22 PM
Yep, that's always our goal.
[8:22 PM]
Clear normal, gear up, clear heroic, get everyone the achievement
before next tier.
[8:23 PM]
Oh, and then take a picture with as many people as possible on their
new mounts
Ioreth — Today at 8:23 PM
hopefully my treatment will be done by then! (especially since it
hasn't started yet)
[8:23 PM]
I did like that blue dragon
Ar-Pharazon-V — Today at 8:24 PM
From N'Zoth? Yep, very nice.
[8:28 PM]
well, namarie!
Eonwë Valar — Today at 8:29 PM
Sleep well
