VardaToday at 4:05 PM
Don't let us make you late for work, but great you could say hi!
ArwenToday at 4:05 PM
I am just getting ready
ArienValarToday at 4:07 PM
nice to see you , Arwen
ArwenToday at 4:07 PM
I'm about to leave, as Varda said, but I wanted to say I'm currently
playing wow classic on Kurrinaxx horde side
VardaToday at 4:08 PM
Thanks!Any other WoW Classic servers we want to mention? Seems to be
movement between them.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:09 PM
Hydraxian Waterlords, in Europe
Eonwe ValarToday at 4:10 PM
Windseeker, Westfall, Bloodsail Buccaneers all have Valar Guild
members on them in Classic.
Hmm, I'm noticing I need to put that note in your list that it's a
Europe server, Phar.
Arwen, do you want your server listed on the Games Site?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:11 PM
I do believe there is no Hydraxian in the US
ArienValarToday at 4:12 PM
Hydraxian Waterlords too but Alliance contrary to Phari although i
do have a droody there  on Horde
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:13 PM
I already did classic alliance about 15 years ago, thought it better
to try horde this time
Eonwe ValarToday at 4:13 PM
I'll take your word for it Phar :} I haven't dabbled in Classic
since the beta so I don't know the server names off the top of my
head, and I've already closed out WoW :}
ArienValarToday at 4:15 PM
fair enough Phari
VardaToday at 4:17 PM

Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
Membership:
Nice crew on today, glad to see you all.
As fun as it always is visiting the wonderful Eowyn, I'm glad to be
home in the old comfy routine and with the computer working better
now. : )
It should not crash during this meeting! knocks on formica
Arien had some Membership news. Go ahead, o scout and tester!
It appears Arien is afk, so I'll pass it along for her. : )
Arien has scouted and tested a new member for the Valar Guild:
Imrahil-(V)
He's in her guild in European World of WarCraft.
The previous Imrahil in Indonesia is not in trouble but has been
inactive so long that if he would like to return, that would be
great, but he may need to choose a new name.
The new Imrahil seems to like the Poetry on our site. : )
I'll let Arien add to this when she's able.
Any other Membership news anyone would like to pass along? Fladrif
sighting or others, maybe?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:24 PM
Well, he's been online according to bnet, but I don't think I've
seen him
VardaToday at 4:25 PM
Good to hear he's been on, yay!
Any sightings of Helm, Aragorn, others in Europe?
An oddity in Discord is that it does not show that we are playing in
LotRO unless we force it to.

Web:
Shirebound has a story for us:
"In the Mind's Eye", 12 chapters:
http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authors/Shirebound/IntheMindsEye01.htm
In the Mind's Eye ch.1 "Left Behind"
fanfiction Fellowship of the
Rings. The Morgul knife blade used at Weathertop
to wound Frodo
was enspelled by the Nazgûl, as was the hilt that
Aragorn carried
with him to Rivendell. At the Ford of Bruinen,
the wraith-sorcerer
has one chance to activate ...
It has a hole filler question about what happened to that Morgul
knife hilt that was used on Frodo.
I need to go back and see if the hilt disappeared or was actually
carried by Aragorn.
If anyone feels like looking that up in the books, please feel free!
Eonwe ValarToday at 4:30 PM
As I recall, he wrapped it up and took it with them to Elrond. I'm
sure Elrond properly disposed of it though.
VardaToday at 4:30 PM
Agreed. Maybe something happened with it on the way, or the wrapping
slipped. Other fun things maybe. And thanks!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:31 PM
Maybe he sent it to Tom Bombadil.
VardaToday at 4:31 PM
Poor Elrond. Gandalf using Black Speech, Aragorn bringing a morgul
hilt, Frodo bringing the One Ring, a lot of surprise guests. :
) All at once!
Tom is now using it for a paperweight?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:32 PM
Must've been a heck of a job cleaning up all the dark influence.
Febreze?
VardaToday at 4:32 PM
Undoubtedly invented for that purpose.

In Lord of the Rings Online, the Ill Omens skirmish questing
is still going, through March 18.
I tried it last night for the first time. Have to go to one of a few
skirmish camps, such as South Bree, and find the hobbit lass
Nedda, who gives the quest.
Finish off 4/5 of the batch she gives you per day. Lots of deeds,
goodies for barter.

Tolkien!
Magic weapons!
The enemy had them and the free people had them. Not common but
could be a real problem.
Which ones can we come up with? Any book is fair game!
Eonwe ValarToday at 4:51 PM
Excalibur,.. wrong book? :}
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:51 PM
Wizards' staffs?
VardaToday at 4:51 PM
lol - unless Aragorn's sword might be a type of Excalibur before
being put in a rock?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:51 PM
Good way to channel their power, and a big moment when one broke.
VardaToday at 4:51 PM
good. The staves were certainly able to be used as weapons.
Only one staff broke in the books. Gandalf carried out what was
probably the Valar's sentence breaking Saruman's staff and Gandalf
taking over that white wizard position.
Eonwe ValarToday at 4:52 PM
Narsil/Anduril not really magic though. I suppose Glamdring/ Sting
would count given their ability to glow blue when orcs are near.
ArienValarToday at 4:52 PM
the dagger that pippin used to cut the tendon of the Black Rider
Lord , the former King of Angmar
VardaToday at 4:53 PM
Merry, actually, vs the Witch-king, but aye, exactly.
ArienValarToday at 4:53 PM
Merry i meant dangi it
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:53 PM
To be fair, they both used the same kind of dagger.
VardaToday at 4:53 PM
Narsil/Anduril had a lot of runes on it and I had better collect
research on that for an article.
The glowing to let orcs know you're there, er, to let you know orcs
are near, sounds like magic to me, aye.
ArienValarToday at 4:54 PM
Sting was magic as well as were most elven blades we meet in the
books since they glow blue when orcs are near
VardaToday at 4:54 PM
True about the dagger
Aye. And Sting was able to penetrate the troll's foot I believe,
when other blades would not.
ArienValarToday at 4:55 PM
Pippin killed a Troll chieftain was it? in the battle before the
black gate
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:55 PM
You could say it.. stung?
VardaToday at 4:55 PM
Pippin did, yes, defending Beregond.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:56 PM
Did Sam use his for anything?
VardaToday at 4:56 PM
Sam did use the phial as a weapon/defense and stabbed Shelob.
(Bad sentence. His sword, not the phial, stabbed Shelob)
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:57 PM
True.
ArienValarToday at 4:57 PM
The Vial blinded Shelob
Eonwe ValarToday at 4:57 PM
Sam stabbed Shelob with the vial... I'm imagining that now...
VardaToday at 4:57 PM
The Mirror of Galadriel was good for intel.
haha Eonwe. what have I done!
ArienValarToday at 4:58 PM
hmm if the vial was diamond shaped :O?
it might have worked
VardaToday at 4:58 PM
Sharp stopper?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:58 PM
"Taste light!"
ArienValarToday at 4:58 PM
uhu
VardaToday at 4:59 PM
So a lot of the ancient weapons as from Gondolin may have had some
glowing magic, special stabbing abilities. Maybe that's why we have
so many legendary items in LotRO. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:00 PM
Magic weapons... I suppose you could throw a palantir really hard.
VardaToday at 5:01 PM
How about Rings?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:01 PM
Oof, rings on a fist can leave an impression
ArienValarToday at 5:02 PM
what about Anglachel?
Eols sword?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:02 PM
One of two, I believe?
ArienValarToday at 5:03 PM
i don't remember that
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:03 PM
Anguirel being the other.
VardaToday at 5:03 PM
Made of meteoric iron
That comes from a lot of the old folklore and myths too.
Eol's swords were made from the iron from a meteor.
ArienValarToday at 5:04 PM
didnt Anglachel speak ? once?
or do i mix that up with something else i read?
VardaToday at 5:04 PM
Angry about being made to kill Beleg
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:04 PM
Yes, before Turin took his own life with it.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:05 PM
Never trust a talking sword. It's usually just out for blood.
VardaToday at 5:05 PM
heh - in its nature.
ArienValarToday at 5:05 PM
Phew .. memory not quite as bad as i think :stuck_out_tongue: ..
else i d have handed back my Maiar dignity dry
VardaToday at 5:06 PM
Eol's blade carried malice in it so Thingol would not use it. Sounds
pretty magical.
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:06 PM
Never trust a talking sword... like this one? :} https://youtu.be/XofCWiRz6tg?t=38

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:07 PM

Eonwe ValarToday at 5:07 PM
The sword, no. The Ranger, yes.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:07 PM
Ah
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:08 PM
But the sword talks :}
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:08 PM
It does!
VardaToday at 5:08 PM
Elric of Melniborne's sword if we want to leave Tolkien, but
maybe it's time to call it, since we hit the hour.

Eonwe ValarToday at 5:16 PM

ArienValarToday at 5:19 PM
That one is out of Mercedes Lackey s universe and main world
Valdemar
VardaToday at 5:20 PM
I like Mercedes Lackey especially with Larry Dixon (husband) teaming
up on a story.
She has a lot of cool videos out, very much folksong type, which I
like.
Been quite a while since seeing the Power Rangers, kind of a
nostalgia thing from the kids' being younger. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:22 PM
It's still ongoing I believe, constantly new seasons and new teams
and new themes.
But I'll always prefer the first 6 seasons
the "Zordon era" as it's called
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:32 PM
Yeah. I stopped somewhere short of finishing the Zeo era I think. It
was like Super Shogun Zords or something.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:32 PM
hehe
I actually named a new pet this week after the villain from the
first movie
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:33 PM
I was out by Turbo, heh.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:33 PM
Remember Ivan Ooze?
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:34 PM
From the movie, aye :}
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:34 PM
Got an ooze with eyes from Horrific Visions.
Called it Eyevan Ooze.
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:34 PM
Hehe.
I got a pet of some sort this week from the Visions. Got a full
clear. I guess Blizzard's pacing on them is pretty good since I can
get as far as I need to each week, heh..
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:36 PM
Hah, yes. Got my first clear this week as well, though I had some
orbs left. I'm not confident enough to go with the first mask
though.
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:37 PM
I had some sanity to risk left at the end, but nowhere to risk it
on, heh. Agreed about the first mask.
That's supposed to cut sanity in half as I recall, so not confident
I'm having enough left over from a normal full clear to be risking
it.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:38 PM
Hmm, indeed. But you still get 200 from elites and 100 from potions.
So it's not quite like you've got half the time.
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:39 PM
Yeah, but the potions are luck.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:39 PM
True.
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:41 PM
I've gone through visions not finding a new potion to refresh a buff
in time, and sometimes found maybe one sanity restoring potion.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:41 PM
In all, best wait a few more ranks
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:41 PM
hehe
I might try a mask next week, or this week if I'm needing something
particularly challenging to clear my mind, hehe.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:47 PM
Heh, maybe. But the first mask still seems pretty annoying.
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:47 PM
Aye.
I need to look into that sanity-restoring food.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:47 PM
Ah yes, K'bab.
Me too.
Eonwe ValarToday at 5:48 PM
Have you tried the toy-guy in Stormwind yet btw? I gave him a go
last week, won but didn't get anything.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:48 PM
Yeah, I did. Gave him the train thing to distract him, but next time
I might as well just root him.
Eonwe ValarToday at 6:18 PM
Yeah, I ended up spending alot of time bringing him down because I
didn't quite get the one that reduces his damage.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:18 PM
Next week I'll try again
Eonwe ValarToday at 6:18 PM

Personal gaming report!
For flashgaming, there were actually 4
badges of the day I didn't have yet this week, but one of them's
buggy (controls don't always work) so here's the other 3!

Blizzard gaming:
Heroes of the Storm:
One more level, to 390! Lucky hero this time around was Li Li, who
is now level 14.
Hearthstone:
Had a quest for battlegrounds this week, still not very good at
them. But apparently you can also concede and it'll count for the
quest, so if I'm quite frustrated with it, that'll work
Brawl is more randomness! Shifting minions that turn into random
minions every turn they're in your hand, and shifting spells that
turn into random spells.
Need a good amount of luck to get good minions at the turns you're
able to spend the mana to use them, but got it eventually
WoW:
For raiding, a bit of farming stuff on heroic. Also more normal, we
got pretty far on the final N'Zoth fight. We definitely have the
gear needed now, but the mechanics need some practice.
Fun fight though
Necklace to 80, last stamina buff acquired! Getting more levels is
good for ilevel which is good for essences I believe, but since it's
infinite I can't really be bothered to grind any more than I get
doing other stuff.
Cloak to level 12! Cleared all zones of the horrific vision for the
first time to get that rank, which also gives a new passive ability
on the cloak, which is quite good
And enough mementos gotten through there to get the Gift of the
Titans research talent, which makes the visions even easier!
Got the Anomalus pet along the way, which is a slime with eyes,
hence the reference earlier
And since I cleared all the lost areas I got 2 more rank 2 essences
from the visions, though I don't actually use these specific ones.
Weekly is battlegrounds, which was actually quite smooth! I went
tank for them, which helped pretty well, since I had flags to fetch
and bases to guard  Got the 4 wins pretty quickly.
Also got to honor level... 64, I think? One more level anyway.
Got a new pet from expeditions, Scuttle the pirate crab, looks quite
nice
Finally, other projects also continuing! Unlocked Nigel Rifthold, a
pet vendor in Drustvar, and got 5 new pets from him, including
Smoochums, the fat ghost cat from an earlier questline.
After that, I decided to find a few Pepe appearances in Kul Tiras
and Zandalar. First one was easy as alliance, but for the second one
I had to sneak into Dazar'alor to get it.
Luckily I managed to grab the tiny voodoo mask for Pepe and get out
alive with half a dozen guard npcs chasing me
And then I decided to tackle all the Jani quests I was missing in
Zandalar. A bunch of miscellaneous quests from mysterous trashpiles
all over the continent, which give quests to do. Got 5 more done in
one night, leaving 2 more out of 12. After that, I'll reward myself
with buying the Jani pet
And that's my report for the week!
Namarie!
