Before-meeting

Eonwe ValarLast Friday at 3:28 AM
Got my first faceless mask beaten. Got a little close on the Thrall fight with my HP because I went in without my wings up, but I managed to make it. Had more cushion on the sanity than I thought I would.
That hot foot debuff is almost as annoying as the leaden foot debuff.
Eonwe ValarLast Friday at 3:42 AM
I guess that means my regular non-mask runs are now at a leisurely pace :}

Time changes are still making a mess of things. : )
Eonwe emailed that he has to work during the meeting and didn't quite get all the gaming news online.
Maybe we can help fill some in for him. : )
Any other membership news?
Oh, and no one around here has even  a sniffle. ; )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:10 PM
A sniffle? Sure. Had one for a few days. But I don't think I've been in contact with anyone dangerous.
VardaToday at 4:10 PM
Just those dungeon monsters!

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:22 PM
Well, Hearthstone had an announcement for when they're going to announce the new stuff coming, but I guess that's better done after the actual announcement

VardaToday at 4:22 PM
Faramir was also gaming there, not in the group.

They announced that there will be an announcement? hah, too much like TV news, there. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:23 PM
Well, it'll be live-streamed so they want people ready to tune in.
So that's understandable.
VardaToday at 4:23 PM
Ah, makes sense then.

Tolkien!
Feel free to mention any cool Tolkien links or Tolkien Moments or suggest a question.
Here's a Tolkien Moment that I almost made longer, but luckily for all ran out of time. ; )
I double-checked the book name after last week's goof!

Two Towers "The Road to Isengard"
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:26 PM
ga-ga-ga-gard
VardaToday at 4:26 PM
heh
They showed that to Orlando Bloom and he did it for them, no editing needed after that!
./quote
But late in the night the watchmen cried out and all awoke. The moon was gone.
Stars were shining above; but over the ground there crept a darkness blacker than the night. On both sides of the river it rolled towards them, going northward.
"Stay where you are!" said Gandalf. "Draw no weapons! Wait! and it will pass you by!"
ArienValarToday at 4:27 PM
@Ding 60 on Pali nr 2 :))
VardaToday at 4:27 PM
Grats Arien!
A mist gathered about them. Above them a few stars still glimmered faintly; but on either side there arose walls of impenetratable gloom; they were in a narrow lane between moving towers of shadow.
Voices they heard, whisperings and groanings and an endless rustling sigh; the earth shook under them.
Long it seemed to them that they sat and were afraid; but at last the darkness and the rumour passed, and vanished between the mountain's arms.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:28 PM
Grats Arien
VardaToday at 4:28 PM
Away south upon the Hornburg, in the middle night men heard a great noise, as a wind in the valley, and the ground trembled; and all were afraid and no one ventured to go forth.
But in the morning they went out and were amazed; for the slain orcs were gone, and the trees also.
Far down into the valley of the Deep the grass was crushed and trampled brown, as if giant herdsmen had pastured great droves of cattle there;
but a mile below the Dike a huge pit had been delved in the earth, and over it stones were piled into a hill.
Men believed that the Orcs whom they had slain were buried there; but whether those who had fled into the wood were with them, none could say, for no man ever set foot upon that hill.
The Death Downs it ws afterwards called, and no green grass would grow there.
But the strange trees were never seen in Deeping Coomb again; they had returned at night, and had gone far away to the dark dales of Fangorn.
Thus they were avenged upon the Orcs.
Endquote
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:30 PM
Bah, unrealistic. You know some kids will have climbed up there on a dare.
VardaToday at 4:30 PM
It was not entered into the histories, though. : )
Sounds good.
Also, if someone asks you what the Death Downs were, now you can tell them!
Not exactly a fair recruiter's question, though. : )

Aiya
VardaToday at 4:33 PM
Aiya to the Blue Wizard!
I enjoyed reading about the EVE war. Thank you for an excellent write-up.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:35 PM
Aiya!
Pallando-ValarToday at 4:35 PM
Was exhausting but very fun.
VardaToday at 4:36 PM
Fun! In a game? : )
Seems a lot of the fun is just that our attention is strongly kept and we get to do a lot.
A feeling of progress.
Feeling helpful to our buddies is a big plus.
And cool scenery. : )

Why do you guys like to game? (All here might be classed as addicts.)
A feeling of progress, learning more about the game, going farther in the areas whether space or land.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:38 PM
Story. Progress. Escape. Exploration.
Sometimes the humor
Completion, too!
And sometimes just because it's fun
VardaToday at 4:40 PM
yay fun!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:40 PM
Mostly though, when I pick up a game that looks interesting, I just want to see the whole thing.
VardaToday at 4:40 PM
Getting to hang out with friends. Making new friends. Meeting interesting folks.
Completionism, aye to that.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:41 PM
Hmm, didn't have the social part that much, I was never into multiplayer unless it was with just a couple of friends, until I hit WoW.
VardaToday at 4:41 PM
Getting to be with people and family who are too distant to interact with except mail, otherwise.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:41 PM
I remember Warcraft 3 with Valar though, that was nice
VardaToday at 4:41 PM
Some Fladrif guy for a friend you get to game with. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:42 PM
Yep! When I first met him we were both playing warcraft 3.
So easy choice to meet up in there now and then
Actually, Warcraft 3 itself got me into multiplayer as well, even if it was all custom maps when I did it with strangers.
RPG things, puzzles or races, LotR maps... all things you can do repeatedly but with different people and see how far you get

FalcoToday at 4:45 PM
Aiya!
VardaToday at 4:45 PM
Aiya Falco!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:45 PM
Strange. The first Falco should be Fladrif I take it, but it displays as Falco.
FalcoToday at 4:45 PM
Hehe I said Aiya twice!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:46 PM
Oh!

VardaToday at 4:56 PM
We are coming up on the hour. Does anyone have more news, or would like to get together to game after the meeting?

Perrrrsonal gaming report

For flashgaming, mostly foodrelated badges/games this week.
Old ones which I've probably linked before, but fun anyway
https://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/sushi-cat is the first game! First in a series about a cat in Japan who needs to get fatter to accomplish his goals, which is done by letting him fall through a pinball like machine and eating the sushi along the way. Fun, cute, and very delicious!
    Kongregate
    Sushi Cat
Sushi Cat is lonely. Lonely and very hungry. Help Sushi Cat out by guiding him to as much sushi as possible. Watch him grow fat as he eats more and more sushi...

https://www.kongregate.com/games/MostroGames/kamikaze-pigs for the second game, wherein you blow up armies of pigs through chain reactions, trying to cause as much destruction as possible. You also get money for powerful upgrades, which make it easier to complete the harder levels.
    Kongregate
    Kamikaze Pigs
The smell of sizzling sausages fills the air as pigs turn out by the dozen to answer a call to arms, only to fall squealing before an onslaught of murder, mayh...

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:55 PM
And for the last one, let's give... https://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/balloon-in-a-wasteland which is a survival/defense game wherein you crash into a wasteland and have to fix your balloon, while shooting enemies each day and using the reward cash for upgrades.
    Kongregate
    Balloon in a Wasteland
When your balloon crash-lands in a wasteland of foul creatures, its time to survive. Upgrade your weapons, fort, and turrets while you try to fix your balloon....

Blizzard gaming:
Heroes of the Storm:
2 levels gained, up to 394. Heroes leveled are Rexxar to 14 (almost done!) and Leoric to level 2 through a brawl. Not a bad hero, and I got some talent tips from other players in that game. Very heavy hitter in the end, as long as you can reach the other heroes to smash them in melee
Hearthstone:
all the quests for the event done, lots of packs gotten. I should really open up some of them, but the more that pile up, the less inclined I am to dive into it  Will do soon I hope!
Brawl is another iteration of an old one; the decks are random decks of high-end hearthstone tournament players, with a bit of history given as you play them. Got pretty lucky with mine, though, so relatively easy win
WoW:
Another N'Zoth kill, getting it a bit under control now. We also completed the shortcut quest, so we'll be able to visit the last 2 bosses on normal whenever we want and focus the rest of our efforts on heroic.
Cloak to rank 14 now through horrific visions, and cleared my first 2-mask run, with burned bridges and dark imagination, arguably the 2 easiest masks.
Took some effort (and failure!) though, as the damage starts to really pile up, and it's hard to avoid pulling extra groups as you get bounced around.
Since the problem is now more about survivability than sanity, maxing out the cloak next week isn't going to make it much easier, and it's going to take careful pulling and a lot of luck to get it done with more than 2 masks. But still quite a few months remain to practice.
4 new rank 3s of essences, after getting revered with both Uldum Accord and Rajani, as well as one from the horrific visions. For the reputation I've got all 3 now, from the visions I lack one more. Just a matter of time.
Oh, and a new pet from the horrific visions too, C'thuffer the void boar pet, which is a possible reward after defeating Rexxar
And a new pet from the raid, Aqir Hivespawn, so that's going well too!
Speaking of pets, this week's battle pet week, when I work on my pvp family pet achievements. Got 5 wins with full dragon teams, not too bad, as they can do a ton of rising burst damage. Will need 5 more dragon and 10 humanoid, so 3 more pet weeks to go
For other projects, I started 8.1 content at last! Starting with the faction assaults, I've done 3 different zones now, including one specific quest achievement in Zuldazar. There are also quest achievements within Nazmir and Tiragarde assaults, which means I'll not do those zones unless the quest is present. No point in clearing them otherwise or I'd need to do them more than needed. Sure, there's service medals, rep, etc, to be gotten, but I'm past the point where I need those specific rewards, so achievements is the goal.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:35 PM
After that, I went for the Darkshore scenario, helping out Tyrande, Maiev and Shandris through the Night Warrior ritual, unlocking the customization for my night elves. Looks pretty good, though better on my huntress than on my druid.
This also unlocked the Darkshore warfront, which happened to cycle open today, so I'm looking forward to poking the warfront a few times next week and getting some achievements there
And finally, 2 new books ordered for WoW. One is Shadows Rising, the announced intro to the next expansion, and the other is a collection of online comics in bookform from the past expansions. While I can grab each individual comic online, it'll be nice to have as an official collection with extra information available too
And that's my report for the week!
