Before-meeting

Eonwe ValarToday at 5:10 AM
Tried to solo Antorus Normal. Did fine up until Imonar and his sleep gimmick, which I bypassed with a trinket once I knew it was coming, then got stuck on the Coven of Shivarra because their gimmick requires two people to pull them away from eachother.(edited)
[5:12 AM]
They couldn't really do anything to me until the enrage timer hit, so if it weren't for the 99% damage reduction gimmick, I definitely could've beat them.
[5:18 AM]
This week doesn't feel like a good week for 4-masking Stormwind Horrific Vision, heh.(edited)

IrmoToday at 4:00 PM
Doing!!!!!

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:01 PM
Heya :}

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:02 PM
Aiya!
[4:02 PM]
and I did do a 4-mask Stormwind vision, which went well enough, and got some new gloves out of it

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:03 PM
Congrats :}
[4:03 PM]
I did a three-mask and it was a bit rougher going than usual. Maybe I'll try 4-mask anyway.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:03 PM
hehe

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:04 PM
Tried to 4-mask Orgrimmar last week and things just went downhill in the totem zone.,(edited)

VardaToday at 4:04 PM

IrmoToday at 4:04 PM
Already did that Starry One

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:04 PM
Yay!

VardaToday at 4:04 PM
But I did it in the wrong channel, heh. [Note: Pardon me, Irmo, didn't realize you already did the pingage. Thanks!]
[4:05 PM]
I make all fresh mistakes every meeting. Going to get it right next time though!

VardaToday at 4:08 PM
Eonwe has been amazing doing all sorts of coding and repairing that should go online eventually.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:08 PM
Aiya Arien!

Arien is being our sunshine!

[4:09 PM]
And then we have Irmo...

IrmoToday at 4:09 PM
Greetings Maiden of the Sun

VardaToday at 4:09 PM
Irmo has been amazing too. Would you like to tell it in your own words?

IrmoToday at 4:09 PM
Errmm

VardaToday at 4:09 PM
heh
[4:10 PM]
Hey, you changed your name from Irm to Irmo! Not Errmm

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:10 PM
That's something

IrmoToday at 4:11 PM
Phar can be my witness here, but the letter the provincie of South-Holland write to PM Rutte last Thusrday made quite some national newsletters last Friday; it is great to see sewntences I composed literally quoted on NOS and teletekst

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:12 PM
Ehr... I could be a witness there if I wasn't over a month behind on news reports.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:14 PM
Grats then

IrmoToday at 4:14 PM
<bows>

VardaToday at 4:14 PM
Eonwe, you had a suggestion for us that are too uneducated to read that article?
[4:15 PM]
Irmo can read English but I can't read Dutch.

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:15 PM
Yeah, use Google Translate :} Hopefully it converts well enough :}

IrmoToday at 4:16 PM
Miriel always uses Google translate on Dutcxh abacadabra; she has been with me for 12 years now and still cxan only count to 10 in Dutch

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:16 PM
Hehe

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:17 PM
Come on. We're fantasy fans. How hard can it be to say "elf" for 11?

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:17 PM
Kinda fun to look at it and see the similarities to German. Kinda like back when I was more regularly looking at Spanish and took a look at some Portuguese.
[4:17 PM]
hehe

IrmoToday at 4:17 PM
Granted, it ids an impossibly hard language to learn

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:19 PM

VardaToday at 4:24 PM

Lord of the Rings Online:
[4:32 PM]
The Spring Festival encore continues through June 29.
[4:33 PM]
Some of the kins have moved from Ithil to Anor during the free transfer time. This does not mean Ithil is shutting down. Ithil is geared more towards the RP crowd and Anor more toward the raider crowd.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:33 PM
Strange, you'd think it was the other way around

VardaToday at 4:33 PM
Anor has more people, so they are looking for larger groups to help with raids.
[4:34 PM]
Anor was the first server online. Ithil was an overflow server when Anor overloaded and had long wait times.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:34 PM
I mean, Ithil being the staging point of the dark forces and Anor being rather more friendly and interactive in my imagination

VardaToday at 4:34 PM
Good point
[4:34 PM]
The Moon of Ithil and the Sun of Anor

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:34 PM
Well, I was more thinking about the Minasses.
[4:35 PM]
But yeah, on a more basic level it can work.

VardaToday at 4:35 PM
To LotRO gamers: what deeding or quests or skirmishes would you like help with? Do you need one helper or a group? Do you have a preference on type of help to go with your character, such as dps, healing, or tanking?
[4:36 PM]
Feel free to email or Discord tell to me. : )
[4:36 PM]
To LotRO gamers: what would you like to see in the kin chest for your server? If materials, is there any particular you're wanting to see such as raw or processed like brushed leather, any particular level such as Westfold, what professions as in scholar, jeweler. Specific armor crafting needs to be worked out with a crafter most of the time but we can all try to contribute to that if we know. Can any of us add some of these things to the kin chest? What would you like to see removed from the kin chest?
[4:36 PM]
.
[4:36 PM]
I got a request for more materials but had no idea which ones or in what condition. That was on Ithil. I'll try to scattergun it!

VardaToday at 4:38 PM
Thanks!

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:39 PM
Quest required 4 plays of those, all 4 of which I lost.. they definitely require custom decks

VardaToday at 4:39 PM
We have been warned!
[4:39 PM]
One other thing for Membership and LotRO:
[4:40 PM]
Dis came out of the hospital for about 15 minutes at home before having to go back.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:40 PM
Oof.

VardaToday at 4:40 PM
They did not do therapy after her knee surgery and she could not walk. That has to be handled now.
[4:41 PM]
Be sure if you or yours goes in for such a thing that they do therapy!
[4:41 PM]
mutter mutter mutter

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:41 PM
"Therapy? Naaaah, you'll be fine with some rest."

VardaToday at 4:41 PM
Walda-(V), her husband, has kindly been bringing some of Dis's characters online to handle mathoms and rent. Thank you!
[4:41 PM]
heh, right.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:42 PM
Hmm, having a gamer spouse seems so nice.

Tolkien!

[4:45 PM]
Don't forget the forum story. : )
[4:45 PM]

We have a Tolkien Moment that I'd love to hear you all discuss.
[4:46 PM]
This is from the moment the Scouring really started, prepared by the War of the Ring.
[4:47 PM]
"The Scouring of the Shire", Return of the King
[4:47 PM]
Quote:
[4:47 PM]
"No!" said Merry. "It's no good 'getting under cover'. That is just what people have been doing, and just what these ruffians like. They will simply come down on us in force, corner us, and then drive us out, or burn us in. No, we have got to do something at once."
"Do what?" said Pippin.
"Raise the Shire!" said Merry. "Now! Wake all our people! They hate all this, you can see: all of them except perhaps one or two rascals, and a few fools that want to be important, but don't at all understand what is really going on.
But Shire-folk have been comfortable so long that they don't know what to do. They just want a match, though, and they'll go up in fire.
The Chief's Men must know that. They'll try to stamp on us and put us out quick. We've only got a very short time.
"Sam, you can make a dash for Cotton's farm, if you like. He's the chief person round here, and the sturdiest.
Come on! I'm going to blow the horn of Rohan, and give them all some music they have never heard before."
[4:49 PM]
EndQuote.
[4:49 PM]

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:50 PM
Easy to keep em under control a few at a time, but when they group up...
[4:50 PM]
Don't mess with the hobbits!

VardaToday at 4:51 PM
: )  For sure!
[4:51 PM]
Irmo left this comment to add since he could not be here:
[4:51 PM]
"The scourging of the Shire shows us that knowledge is not always a blessing: for Frodo has grown "beyond" the shire, and thereby lost what he loved."

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:53 PM
Aye.
[4:53 PM]
TO both Phar and Irmo.
[4:54 PM]
As the saying goes, all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.

VardaToday at 4:54 PM
Also, this show of strength by the hobbits shows that Gandalf's labor to make the Free Peoples capable of taking care of themselves bore fruit.
[4:54 PM]
Aye, Eonwe.

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:55 PM
And aye. That's what Gandalf had been working for, and really what all of the Istari should've been working for.

VardaToday at 4:56 PM
I wonder if Radagast made the animals more capable of taking care of themselves. Not his mission, but hmm.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:56 PM
I guess our four hobbits took a good lesson home from Gandalf after all

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:56 PM
The Valar couldn't just bring everyone to Aman every time a big bad reared its ugly head.

VardaToday at 4:57 PM
True. And the Valar had a tendency to do extreme Area damage, lots of collateral damage would have happened. They didn't want that.

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:57 PM
Well, when fighting enemies on their level, yes.
[4:57 PM]
Because the villains don't care about collateral damage.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:57 PM
Nuking is overkill when all you need is a well aimed rock.

VardaToday at 4:58 PM
Aye. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:59 PM
Which is what hobbits excelled at

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:59 PM
When your enemy is willing to destroy everything if they can't have their way, it's kinda hard to hold back and not risk losing.

VardaToday at 4:59 PM
The Free People learned they had to give all they were capable of giving. Frodo showed that very well.

Eonwe ValarToday at 5:00 PM
And aye Phar :}

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:00 PM
Give all you have to give, even if it means you lose what you were trying to save.

VardaToday at 5:00 PM
Exactly. Save it for all those you love.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:00 PM
Yep.

Eonwe ValarToday at 5:00 PM
I believe Frodo phrased it along the lines of "some lose things so that others may keep them."

VardaToday at 5:01 PM
Aye, about like that.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:01 PM
Hrrrm, that's quite fitting with the Ardenweald storyline in the upcoming expansion...

VardaToday at 5:01 PM
Frodo loved every rock and hill in the Shire and expanded that feeling as he traveled.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:02 PM
It also fits the tv show I've started watching, Band of Brothers.
[5:02 PM]
Makes you understand why people fight.

VardaToday at 5:03 PM
JRRT knew that feeling very well from life experience and it translated brilliantly to his pages.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:03 PM
Do you think part of his home was lost to him after returning from the war?

VardaToday at 5:04 PM
In a lot of ways, yes.
[5:04 PM]
He lost most of his friends, his health. He saw his country bombed and tried to help with that.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:06 PM
I was thinking I never wish to see such times... which brought a certain scene from LotR to mind

VardaToday at 5:07 PM
Aye. : )

Eonwe ValarToday at 5:07 PM
Aye, hehe.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:07 PM
Which makes me think... would I fight, or hide until it's over?
[5:08 PM]
I don't pass the health requirements for the military, but I'd like to think I'd still do something.

VardaToday at 5:08 PM
There are things one can do even with physical problems.

Eonwe ValarToday at 5:08 PM
And now I'm thinking of a part out of "The Man in the Iron Mask" the movie with Gabriel Byrne, John Malcovich, Leo Dicaprio et al.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:08 PM
Seen that one, but don't remember much of it after this time.

Eonwe ValarToday at 5:09 PM
Something along the lines of Aramis saying to Filipe: "Have all those years in prison been for nought, or have they given you great reserves of strength?"
[5:10 PM]
Philippe, pardon. Been a long time since I actually read the book so forgive me if I can't spell French names accurately, heh.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:10 PM
hehe

ArienValarToday at 5:11 PM
there are always things you can do in a worthy fight on the right side .. be liaison .,.. , hideout .. , even play sheep in wolfs pelt aka spy

VardaToday at 5:11 PM
Do the paperwork, the films

ArienValarToday at 5:11 PM
or deliver supplies where its needed most

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:11 PM
Oof, not the paperwork...

VardaToday at 5:11 PM
Help as a dispatcher
[5:12 PM]
hehe - too horrible, right!

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:12 PM
Well, paperwork these days is computer work, so it might work

VardaToday at 5:13 PM
Fly drones. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:13 PM
That works!

VardaToday at 5:13 PM
Like that Spanish drone show recently. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:14 PM
Dutch droneshows exist too, we had one for a national holiday in early May, was quite nice to see on the news. They're considering it as an alternative to new years firework shows.

VardaToday at 5:15 PM
Be good during times of drought, when fireworks can be a hazard.

ArienValarToday at 5:15 PM
or burning loo paper ...

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:16 PM
Fireworks are in the process of being selectively banned over here. Too much damage, too many injuries.

ArienValarToday at 5:16 PM
which in all seriousness a few summers ago caused a bigf wildfire here on  Skye

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:16 PM
Can't say I mind too much, professional firework shows are good enough for me

VardaToday at 5:18 PM
We have plenty of water hoses and sprayers ready, even for the roof. People here shoot them off on the street where it's concrete. And it's been raining a lot lately.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:18 PM
Ah yes, for you it's soon

VardaToday at 5:18 PM
July 4th. : )
[5:19 PM]
And some are shot early, especially by people who will miss the correct day.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:19 PM
Or those who can't tell what date it is

VardaToday at 5:20 PM
haha

ArienValarToday at 5:22 PM
with the amount of rain that fell today alone there is no danger of that

VardaToday at 5:23 PM
Ground is soggy here.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:23 PM
burning toilet paper.. I guess it's one way to get rid of the smell

VardaToday at 5:23 PM
Time to move this along, being overtime by 20 minutes. : )
[5:24 PM]
the gavels fire upwards from the shelf, shining in differently colored spotlights

Personal gaming report!
[5:43 PM]

Flashgaming: 3 games, 1 of which was new to me
[5:44 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/crafics/globetrotter-xl is the first! Simple geographical game; you get a map of the world, get a city (with country named) and you have to click as close to its location as possible to get points.
    Kongregate
    Globetrotter XL
Find famous cities worldwide and improve your geographic skills.
[5:44 PM]
Get a certain amount of points for a maximum amount of questions to proceed to the next level, see how far you get!
[5:45 PM]
Add some relaxing music tracks and you've got yourself quite an addicting game...
[5:46 PM]
And of course good for your knowledge
[5:49 PM]

https://www.kongregate.com/games/PahuPahu/pirates-of-the-undead-sea is the second game! A point and click game where you play an undead pirate captain stranded at the bottom of the sea. You've spent 15 years after your shipwreck sitting in a chair, and now it's time to explore stuff and meet people and complete your adventure
    Kongregate
    Pirates of the Undead Sea
Point and click adventure with pirates, mermaids and zombies on the bottom of the sea!
quotCaptain Black Sam has sailed the seven seas. He lived a life of pilla...

[5:52 PM]
And for the third game, let's choose...
[5:54 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/camaleonyco/moby-dick-2 which is an upgrade action game which I've probably linked before; you play the big white whale who has to stay alive while under attack, eat fish, breathe, break ships and eat people, and get lots and lots of upgrade points for various aspects of the game!
    Kongregate
    Moby Dick 2
Moby Dick is back with a vengeance! Destroy boats, eat their crew and upgrade your skills to survive as long as you can.
[5:55 PM]
You can switch your upgrade points around at any time, which is quite useful because increasing your size, for example, makes you do more damage, but also slows you down and makes you easier to hit.
[5:55 PM]
So you'll want different point distributions in different situations
[5:56 PM]
You get your points from achievements mostly, so try to get those early on or you might get stuck trying to beat a particular level.

Blizzard gaming:
[6:01 PM]
Starcraft 2:
Completed this phase of the warchest, all 5 tiers  A bit of rest before the second phase starts and more buildings to be unlocked!
[6:03 PM]
Heroes of the Storm:
[6:04 PM]
The seasonal event started, the second wrestling based event. It comes with 2 questlines from which to choose, based on wrestling versions of 2 heroes, Mal'ganis and Lili, with unique rewards. I chose Lili's questline, just seems to have nicer cosmetics
[6:05 PM]
First quest in the line is 100000 xp contribution total, which is... quite a bit. Only hit 17k so far. All 5 quests seem pretty long, but we've got over 2 months for em. Should be good.
[6:06 PM]
No new levels gained, still 419.
[6:09 PM]
Hearthstone:
Apart from the new challenges I mentioned earlier, not much to tell  Brawl was fun though, random class with a certain deck, complete with a special hero power and "treasure" passive ability. If you win, you keep the same deck for your next brawl (if so inclined), if you lose you get the opponent's. So it's basically a test to see which decks rise to the top. Not a new concept, but the new powers are an interesting addition.
[6:11 PM]
I won my first, though, with an interesting mage deck which appeared to have me at a disadvantage. Getting a passive double card draw each turn - combined with fatigue immunity - is nice, but when your opponent's hero power is to shuffle bombs into your deck, it becomes less so
[6:12 PM]
But I got good spells and minions, so luck saw me through!
[6:14 PM]
WoW:
[6:15 PM]
For raiding, achievement night got postponed a week, thursday was about killing the last few bosses and getting our corruption resistance upgrade, and today's alt raid went pretty badly; Ilgynoth is quite the dps check. We had to bring in mains instead of their alts one by one until we could bring it down 2 hours later  But we won, so yay?
[6:17 PM]
Another Stormwind 4-mask vision complete, some mementos and, more importantly, new gloves! Upgrade for feral in ilevel, stats and with a socket. So that was good. Threw on the corruption I was saving for, which means my feral gear is just one corruption away from perfection which I'll get next reset.(edited)
[6:18 PM]
It does mean my guardian gear needs a few more corruptions than I'd planned, since it uses the old gloves and no longer shares them. So I'll have to gather up about 14k more Echoes.
[6:18 PM]
Back to emissaries, I guess

Weekly is timewalks, of which I've done a few so far. Apparently the next few weeks will be more timewalks, but according to the calendar, the regular weekly quests for those weeks will also still be there. So might be busy busy!
[6:21 PM]
Other than that, not much new... nothing new from expeditions, nothing new from Darkshore rares, nothing new from the 8.3 assaults... but we'll keep trying.
[6:21 PM]
Wowhead still ways behind, though I made some progress the last few days.
[6:23 PM]
Total Annihilation:
making progress though! From level 8 to 10. 9 was the biggest issue, the final mission on the third planet. The map was cut in two, which means the enemy focused on sending lots and lots of airplanes at me, as well as my half of the map being filled with mines I had to get rid of.
[6:23 PM]
The enemy attacks actually managed to set me back quite a bit before I was able to get enough anti-air vehicles up, about 3 times as much as I usually need.
[6:24 PM]
But when I finally took control of the air it was easy enough to clean the enemy base.
[6:24 PM]
That didn't end the mission though. Which meant I was looking for any remaining units for quite some time. Got full radar coverage of the map, made sure to kill all the mines, but no enemy in sight.
[6:25 PM]
I figured maybe through some bug, an enemy plane had landed outside the borders of the map, so I sent my entire airfleet to patrol the very edge, while spamming missile towers on those edges of the map which were landbased.
[6:25 PM]
But I found nothing!
[6:26 PM]
Luckily TA has a function where if you fail a mission, you can skip it and move to the next one. It's a shame, but I figured I was the proper winner anyway, so I selfdestructed my troops and went to the next level.
[6:27 PM]
Last world is.... interesting so far. An ice world with islands and continents separated by icy flows, so the enemy has been hammering at me with planes and hovercrafts again.
[6:27 PM]
There are a lot less metal patches on this world than the last one too, so I'm guessing I'll need to start building metal makers to keep up.
[6:28 PM]
And then there's random blizzards which slowly damage all your units and buildings and which can last for way too many minutes at a time!
[6:28 PM]
So yeah, it's an annoying world, and I needed some restarts. But I think I've got a good foothold now.
[6:28 PM]
These last few missions could get quite interesting
[6:29 PM]
And that's my report for the week!
[6:29 PM]
Pretty much on schedule
