Before-meeting
Eonwe Valar06/12/2020
Because I'll probably forget by Sunday, got my last 12 Shreds of
Insanity This week. Apparently the Alliance does pretty good at this
week's brawl :}
[3:35 AM]
Now if only the craftable items I can make with the void focus were
sellable. I could make some decent money from my crafting. Oh well.
[3:36 AM]
Also collected my final of 10 Skyshards. Next stop: Alani.
June 13, 2020
Eonwe Valar06/13/2020
Got the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent, and apparently there's no
"Bind on Pickup" tag, which means I can keep collecting shards, and
get more to either sell or give away.
[5:59 AM]
Sometimes it's nice to get a mount where the creature who drops it
just goes about his way peacefully and I can just wave "bye" and say
thanks, hehehe.

Eonwe ValarYesterday at 4:10 AM
Completed "Two Sides to Every Tale, and boy, was that a long, long

VardaYesterday at 4:11 PM
O good
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:11 PM
Oh, yes, sorry, was doing the Beachhead quest

Fladrif still online regularly, yep.
ArienValarYesterday at 4:11 PM
Helm sighting as well as well as Imrahil .. oh another Turtle

VardaYesterday at 4:11 PM
Dis had surgery a while back, saw that she dropped by LotRO briefly
but then nothing. Here's hoping she's doing ok.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:11 PM
12 turtles made it to the water.
[4:12 PM]
Except they're really tortoise models so I don't know how they'll
fare in the water.
ArienValarYesterday at 4:12 PM
I hope she is all right too
VardaYesterday at 4:12 PM
What is the turtle thing? Sounds interesting.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:13 PM
There's a neutral race in BfA, the Tortollan, big humanoid turtles.
They have several special world quests.
[4:13 PM]
Including Beachhead, which is about guarding baby turtles as they
make for the water, while shooting down crabs and seagulls.
ArienValarYesterday at 4:13 PM
its like minigames
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:13 PM
Yep.
[4:13 PM]
There's also a memory game, and a maze.
VardaYesterday at 4:14 PM
Sounds fun. So who's on the side of the crabs and seagulls? : )
ArienValarYesterday at 4:14 PM
and tracing of runes
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:14 PM

New stories for us this past week. You may recognize one of the
authors.
[4:16 PM]
"Just a Dare" by Arien-(Valar):
[4:16 PM]
http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authors/Arien/stories/JustaDare.htm
[4:17 PM]
Arien, care to say a few words about your story? : ) Fun read.
ArienValarYesterday at 4:18 PM
Tis about a young Merry and Pippin getting challenged by Tim
Sandigman which sets them on a nighly walk into the Old Forest
VardaYesterday at 4:18 PM
Ted Sandyman?
ArienValarYesterday at 4:19 PM
The idea was the topic Scary .. also Aragorns remark about the
rangers and their hidden work in the shire at the council as well as
Merry s mention tfhat Frodo was once in the old forest after dark
long ago just at they leave Crickhollo
[4:19 PM]
yes Ted Sandigmann
[4:20 PM]
Sandyman .. hehe don do names
VardaYesterday at 4:20 PM
It went with the theme!
[4:20 PM]
A hole-filler story. My favorite type. : )
ArienValarYesterday at 4:20 PM
Think it should be about 20 years before the trip
[4:21 PM]
i wasn t sure about the age question but i remembered Pippin said to
Bergil he was almost 29
[4:21 PM]
and age nine fits better to him in the story than age 19
VardaYesterday at 4:21 PM
Shocked the human that he was that old.
ArienValarYesterday at 4:21 PM
so its 20 years i think
[4:22 PM]
thats all from me without spoilers .. enjoy i had fun writing
it
VardaYesterday at 4:22 PM
Thank you! Enjoyed it.
ArienValarYesterday at 4:22 PM
I hope it was worth the wait
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:23 PM
It was nice
VardaYesterday at 4:23 PM
It was! Let the fruit ripen for the best flavor.
[4:23 PM]
Another story this week is from a Tolkien-only member named Dunadan,
his second for us.
[4:23 PM]
"The Black Council":
[4:24 PM]
http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authors/Dunadan/TheBlackCouncil.htm
[4:24 PM]
Long paragraphs, but quite worth the read. Enjoy!
[4:25 PM]
A bit of trivia is these stories were put up with a new web html

it. : )
[4:45 PM]
On to
[4:45 PM]
top
Tolkien!
[4:45 PM]
Of course we should all check the forum for the rp, maybe
add to it.
[4:46 PM]
And we have a Tolkien Moment.
[4:47 PM]
In the Fellowship of the Ring, "A Knife in the Dark",
Strider is leading the hobbits from Bree:
[4:47 PM]
quote:
[4:47 PM]
Over the hedge another man was staring boldly.
He had heavy black brows, an dark scornful eyes; his large mouth
curled in a sneer.
He was smoking a short black pipe.
As they approached he took it out of his mouth and spat.
"Morning, Longshanks!" he said. "Off early? Found some friends at
last?"
Strider nodded but did not answer.
"Morning, my little friends!" he said to the others. "I suppose
you know who you've taken up with?
That's Stick-at-nought Strider, that is! Though I've heard other
names not so pretty. Watch out tonight!
And you, Sammie, don't go ill-treating my poor old pony! Pah!"
He spat again.
Sam turned quickly.
"And you, Ferny," he said, "put your ugly face out of sight, or it
will get hurt."
With a sudden flick, quick as lightning, an apple left his hand
and hit Bill square on the nose.
He ducked too late, and curses came from behind the hedge.
"Waste of a good apple," said Sam regretfully, and strode on.
[4:50 PM]
./end quote
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:50 PM
Stick-at-nought, eh?
VardaYesterday at 4:50 PM
An odd comment that seems to have changed a little in meaning over
time.
[4:51 PM]
It seems here to mean he'll do anything, so look out. Later on, I've
heard the term meaning someone who won't work. Didn't look it up.
What does it mean to you?
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:51 PM
Never heard of it, actually. Apart from any LotR reads, I suppose
ArienValarYesterday at 4:52 PM
someone who flicks from job to job , stays never in the same place
[4:52 PM]
does nothing right or with focus
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:52 PM
Makes sense.
ArienValarYesterday at 4:53 PM
someone that leads a so called unregulated life
VardaYesterday at 4:53 PM
Looked up, says "stop at nothing", as in has no scruples and will do
anything including bad to achieve what he wants.
[4:53 PM]
Interesting how differently we see it now.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:53 PM
That seems counterintuitive, yes.
ArienValarYesterday at 4:54 PM
interesting indeed yeah but Ferney would say that ... pfft .. yeah
pot calling kettle eh?
VardaYesterday at 4:54 PM
Aye : )
[4:55 PM]
Projection, maybe?
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:55 PM
Maybe it's because he's a drifter, not settling in one place?
VardaYesterday at 4:55 PM
Ferny is willing to work with the part-orcs for gain.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:55 PM
From the point of view of townsfolk like Ferny, he might have a
point.
VardaYesterday at 4:56 PM
I wonder if there is any kind of trade with the families of rangers?
Maybe only the rangers come to town? Pretty self-sufficient, but
salt and flour can be a problem.
[4:58 PM]
We don't hear a lot of information. Maybe the rangers trade for such
things with the Shire?
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:59 PM
Could easily be herbs and boars they collect from the woods.
VardaYesterday at 4:59 PM
If so, that would mean the Bree-folk never see that side of them.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:59 PM
To trade with Bree-folk or others.
VardaYesterday at 4:59 PM
Not much real info given.
[5:00 PM]
JRRT liked to infer and let us figure things out, according to the Letters.
Think how long the books could have been!
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:00 PM
You mean should have been
VardaYesterday at 5:00 PM
Can't argue with that.
[5:01 PM]
JRRT did mention that he and readers agreed that the common fault of
his books was that they were too short.
[5:01 PM]
The publishers faced a paper shortage and probably did not have the
same view.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:01 PM

: )
top
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:17 PM
Well, for flashgames...
[7:17 PM]
while not a badge this week, and I already recommended it
tangentially last week
[7:17 PM]
let's give https://www.kongregate.com/games/FlyAnvil/decision-medieval
as the first
Kongregate
Decision:Medieval
Lead your kingdom to victory against hordes of
zombies, orcs, werewolves and trolls in this Middle Ages sequel of
the quotDecisionquot series.
[7:18 PM]
Like the Decision game I linked last week, but in medieval times,
with orcs on top of the zombies we were already familiar with.
[7:18 PM]
Also a ton more upgrades, a ton more weapons, and npcs to collect
throughout the first few zones to unlock all of them for upgrading.
[7:19 PM]
You can get experience on every weapon and armor type as well as
upgrade them for more effectiveness, so try to max em all out!
[7:19 PM]
Takes some grinding though, especially the later upgrades to buy.
[7:19 PM]
On top of that you also get abilities like taunts, jumps, enrages,
poison arrows, etc.
[7:20 PM]
But the main goal is to make your way through several zones, clear
them of enemies, upgrade mines, towers and train guards, to reach
100% in each zone, in which case the threat in that zone will also
decrease instead of increase per day. So you can just let your
guards clear out past zones while you move ahead
[7:21 PM]
And there are more outdoor zones as well which keep spawning enemies
infinitely at greater speeds, and the idea is to get as many kills
as you can without dying
[7:21 PM]
If you get up to 150 kills or survive for several minutes, you can
exit the mission and walk away with the gold you've earned to spend
on more upgrades!
[7:22 PM]
Keep upgrading your zones, killing stuff, collecting gold, and
upgrading more stuff and eventually you'll get all you're able to
get, which I'm now hopefully approaching
[7:23 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/likwidgames/castaway-2
is the second game! A pretty big but run rpg.
Kongregate
Castaway 2
Castaway 2 takes the very popular, award winning
Castaway game to a whole new level! Stranded on a mysterious island,
it is up to you to find a way off. Embark...
[7:24 PM]
Explore the island you find yourself on, train different pets, craft
weapons and stuff, and complete many quests as you make your way
through the different gates spread over the island to get to the end
[7:25 PM]
And, as the description says, level up and collect skillpoints to
advance your character in whichever direction you want!
[7:26 PM]
Of note, though, keep an eye on the craftings and try to keep even
the smaller weapons and other crafted items; they'll be reagents for
more powerful stuff later on.
[7:29 PM]
https://www.kongregate.com/games/Reflexive/music-catch-2
for the third game! After 2 such big games with tons to do, time for
a nice relaxing music game.
Kongregate
Music Catch 2
Catch all the new shapes, patterns, motions and
songs!
The task is simple...the more shapes you collect,
the more points you get.
Yellow shapes still multiply...
[7:29 PM]
Shapes will appear on the music, collect them by hovering over them
with the mouse. No clicking needed.
[7:30 PM]
Color of the shapes is important: Avoid red ones, collect purple
ones for massive buffs, yellow for multipliers, and the others for
points.
[7:34 PM]
Try to get higher scores to unlock new shapes, patterns and songs
top

first tier, which is new skins for each race's headquarters. As
always it's 5 tiers per phase, which for me is about 13 matches at
one a day total.
[7:39 PM]
Also comes with a new comic, featuring Donny Vermillion for those
who remember the Wings of Liberty campaign!
[7:41 PM]
Heroes of the Storm:
Still level 418, so no new levels. Brawls went okay, got to murder
stuff with Li-Ming in one
[7:42 PM]
Sonya... was less of a good choice, melee does tend to do worse in
the brawls.

Heavy fighting over a system close to our HQ

Eygfe

Sounds dangerous. What'll happen if they reach your HQ?

we made progress in the AU/RU TZs, but got pushed back in EU. We
have a marathon britman who is holding the line waiting for USTZ to
take over, which I'll do shortly. Right now we're ahead of where we
were yesterday, so really hoping for that AU/RU push again.
[7:44 PM]
Long, complicated story short -- that's not a concern yet

Hearthstone:
no new level, but more random brawlness! A deck filled with neutral
pirates and, rather than normal carddraw, you open a chest of three
random cards and put one in your hand.
[7:48 PM]
I started off randomly with a card that replaced all neutral cards
in deck with class cards, but got no carddraw from later cards so
they all stayed in the deck
[7:49 PM]
Still, got a win out of it, so yay!
[7:50 PM]
WoW:
[7:51 PM]
Raiding still continuing as normal, not much to be said. But there
are plans for an achievement night soonishly, so that'll be a nice
change.
[7:52 PM]
Haven't done a vision this reset yet, but I probably will on
tuesday, because we didn't kill N'Zoth this week so I need the
alternate source for the corruption resistance upgrade.
[7:53 PM]
Weekly quests is mythic dungeons. Since I'm done with Kings' Rest, I
needed to find a new fourth mythic to do, and Motherlode seemed
rather short, so that's where I went, on top of the other 3 which I
already do in this event.
[7:56 PM]
Darkshore warfront rares paid off this week, got myself a Twiddle
Twirler toy, Sentinel's Glaive version. As the name might suggest,
it's pretty much a fidget spinner in the shape of a 3-pointed
glaive. There's also another one that drops in the zone in the shape
of a razorblade, but haven't gotten that yet
[7:57 PM]
And got a new pet, too! Tonguelasher from expeditions. Only 4
remaining to complete the collection, and Tonguelasher was the last
one that can come from more than 2 salvage crates, so I can really
specify which ones I want to buy, though I was doing that already.
[7:58 PM]
And that was pretty much it for WoW; I'd gotten pretty close to
where I wanted to be on wowhead but then there was another alpha...
and me busy with Decision Almost done with that though
so next week I should be able to catch up again
[7:58 PM]
That's also why I didn't get much done in Total Annihilation,
though I did get off of the water planet in level 3 and made good
progress in level 4.
[7:59 PM]
The next planet is just.. beautiful. It's called Lusch, and is
supposed to be a swampy/jungly planet.
[8:00 PM]
It's filled with trees, but not as bunched together as an other
worlds; you can walk your units through them and there are even
spots for some defensive towers. And the loose packing also means
that any fires set to the trees don't travel very far, so it's
pretty safe too.
[8:01 PM]
And there's rivers/swamps going through the map as well, making it
impossible to cross with vehicles. It's mostly meant to introduce
the new hovercraft units... but frankly, you're still better off
with aircraft
[8:01 PM]
Looking forward to getting through some of those levels in the next
week, again, after Decision's done
[8:03 PM]
And that's my report for the week!
