Well, the good news is I completed my first 5-mask Stormwind Horrific Vision. The bad news is the 470 item I got was a pair of pants, and I already have a pair of pants.

Eonwe Valar07/24/2020
Now the tough part is getting through the Orgimmar 5-mask next week.

Eonwe Valar07/24/2020
If I can manage to get a 460 ring and a 460 trinket, or get real lucky in the Rexxar area, that might just give me enough oomph to get through Orgrimmar.(edited)

[4:22 PM]
Did anyone have a Tolkien bit of news? Nifty link? Chat topic? (I've got one when you're done.)
[4:24 PM]
This bit is from "The Shadow of the Past", The Fellowship of the Ring
[4:25 PM]
Look at the amount of foreshadowing in this chat with Sam. We also get to see that Sam has some idea of what's going on before we know he's in the Conspiracy.
[4:25 PM]
Sam is at the Green Dragon, while with Ted Sandyman and others, Ted scoffing at what is told:
[4:25 PM]
Sam starts, the other talking is Ted:
[4:25 PM]
.quote:
[4:26 PM]
"But what about these Tree-men, these giants, as you might call them? They do say that one bigger than a tree was seen up away beyond the North Moors not long back."
"Who's they?
"My cousin Hal for one. He works for Mr. Boffin at Overhill and goes up to the Northfarthing for the hunting. He saw one."
"Says he did, perhaps. Your Hal's always seeing things that ain't there."
"But this one was as big as an elm tree, and walking--walking seven yards to a stride, if it was an inch."
"Then I bet it wasn't an inch. What he saw was an elm tree, as like as not."
"But this one was walking, I tell you; and there ain't no elm tree on the North Moors."
"Then Hal can't have seen one," said Ted. There was some laughing and clapping: the audience seemed to think that Ted had scored a point.
"All the same," said Sam, "you can't deny that others besides our Halfast have seen queer folk crossing the Shire--crossing it, mind you: there are more that are turned back at the borders.
The Bounders have never been so busy before.
And I've heard tell that Elves are moving west. They do say they are going to the harbours, out away beyond the White Towers."
.end quote
[4:28 PM]
.
[4:29 PM]
This is very early on. Looking back at it now, we can see the foreshadowing.
[4:29 PM]
Note the mention of Overhill, before Frodo uses it as a cover name.
[4:30 PM]
We know, since this is a re-read, that Sam is describing an ent, but at this time this is foreshadowing.
[4:30 PM]
The location of the ent is interesting, because it's not across the Hedge in Old Man Willow's territory.
[4:31 PM]
Except, as Eonwe noted, it's Underhill instead of Overhill, interestingly close.

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:32 PM
Aye.

VardaToday at 4:32 PM

VardaToday at 4:33 PM
Fangorn said the entwives would have loved the Shire.
[4:33 PM]

VardaToday at 4:35 PM

What was left of Beleriand and around the Gulf of Lune was still considered Elf-country. Might've been some Entwives wandering around there.

[4:36 PM]
Very wary after the Brown Lands happened?

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:37 PM
They could've gotten along with the hobbits just fine if they've moved south, if they got past the legends of the Old Forest.

VardaToday at 4:37 PM
I wonder if the hobbits were some of those the entwives taught gardening to before it became the Brown Lands. Might have thought they were children.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:38 PM
Better than having them chop trees

VardaToday at 4:39 PM

You can have an Absolute Good and as near as exists to Absolute Evil and still have a whole spectrum of characters in between. That's the thing of about that pesky "finite" part of existence, and Tolkien describes it quite well when he talks about characters, even the Valar themselves, understanding things "according to their measure".

Hearthstone:
Cleared some quests, did the brawl. Bit more xp on the demon hunter but no new level. Brawl was pretty annoying, where you get a deck full of hallucinations which let you discover cards of the opponent's class.
[7:35 PM]
So you need to 1: pick a class that the opponent won't have much use for the cards for, 2: hope you get an opponent's class which complements yours, and 3: actually be lucky with the discoveries.
[7:36 PM]
Took me quite some tries, but lucked out with a hunter. After some googling it turns out warlock might be best, though, since opponent might get health-draining or discard-cards.
[7:36 PM]
So if you're going to try, might try that!
[7:36 PM]
WoW:
[7:37 PM]
Actually no raiding for me this week. No raid scheduled for tuesday, I missed thursday by vacation, and not enough signups today.
[7:37 PM]
So had to get my corruption resistance from horrific visions, which I 4-masked today as told before.
[7:37 PM]
Over 70k mementos now, not too far from mount...
[7:39 PM]
Got 2 new pets this week, from Darkshore rares
[7:39 PM]
First the Hydrath Droplet, which is apparently kinda like a moisturizer, so that's useful I guess
[7:40 PM]
And then the Void Jelly, which is just a voidcolored jellyfish. But can't have too many jellyfish!
[7:41 PM]
For weeklies this week we've got battlegrounds and timewalks. As said earlier, done with my battlegrounds now, got me to honor level 68; timewalks still need to be done. But still got 2 days.
[7:42 PM]
Still waiting for my guardian corruptions to show up, maybe next reset...
[7:42 PM]
As for Total Annihilation...
yeah no, not this week  Next week should be fine though!
[7:43 PM]

Busy day for me.. I think I might make meetingtime next weekend
[11:20 PM]
But this is my personal gaming report:
http://puu.sh/Gbnxa/6b381d416c.jpg

[11:23 PM]
To contextify, CCP added a ranked (though.. poorly) sort of mini-tournament. 2v2 tech 1 cruisers. There's some drama over it because they are counting the "winner" as most wins, not "best record", even though ELO is pretty well understood at this point, and there are no fitting or other restrictions besides the ship hulls, meaning some people were "buying" wins, some collusion. Typical Eve stuff, really.
[11:23 PM]
But my partner and I have just thrown hours at this over the past week. Something like 11 yesterday, more today.. probably well over 40 total, maybe more like 60.
[11:24 PM]
One more day left, so I'm going to wake up and see how my rank is and it's gonna be a desperate run to hold on to our spot.
[11:26 PM]
I have spent a small fortune on ships and fittings for this. Now up to hundreds of hulls + fits. Probably easily 10b?
