Membership:
Most interesting bit: Fingolfin made it into our Discord channel for the first time. He's been a member since way back.
Fingolfin, would you like to introduce yourself? Many here may not have a memory as long as mine. (Not admitting age when old as a Valie!)

FingolfinToday at 4:15 PM
Hail and Well Met one and. All Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo! I was in this most excellent Guild back in the 1919's.

VardaToday at 4:15 PM

Very organized of you.

FingolfinToday at 4:19 PM
Ahhhh... I am only playing Diablo 3.  but i am open  to others.

VardaToday at 4:19 PM
Diablo 3 is a good one.
Most of us have a main game. Mine is Lord of the Rings Online.

FingolfinToday at 4:20 PM
if anyone plays D3 please feel free to friend me in battlenet

VardaToday at 4:20 PM
Anyone else like to mention their main?
Arien said last meeting that she would like to friend you on the US Battlenet, and that you could reach her on Discord.

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:21 PM
We do also have a Bnet community or group or whatever they're calling it, if anyone wants to get an invite.

FingolfinToday at 4:21 PM
Great....

VardaToday at 4:21 PM
That would help!

FingolfinToday at 4:21 PM

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:22 PM
https://blizzard.com/invite/9GZyUVek
That link will last for 24 hours.

VardaToday at 4:22 PM
Eonwe also maintains the Games Site, a help in finding who else plays your games.
Now might be a good time to grab it, feel free! This kind of thing is one reason for meetings. : )

FingolfinToday at 4:23 PM
Thank you

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:24 PM

ArienValarToday at 4:25 PM
Aiya all

Aiya Arien : )

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:25 PM
For general information, the Bnet Group is across all bnet games, so not limited to WoW, Diablo, Starcraft, etc.

VardaToday at 4:25 PM
Very helpful.
And Discord is across everything. We should be able to find each other one way or another.  : )
and my email is on the website.

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:26 PM
Kinda like how old bnet was, only people can't wander into our bnet group's channel :}

VardaToday at 4:26 PM
That's a plus.

VardaToday at 4:33 PM
Just realized it's on the Games Site News for 2020.

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:33 PM
There's some cultists around dropping papers about it, and some other stuff involved. Overall I'd say it's worth revisiting at least once :}

FingolfinToday at 4:34 PM
yup

VardaToday at 4:34 PM

IorethToday at 4:44 PM
Been raiding in wow on Wrymrest Accord server (Horde) I can only play a few hours a day and am so wrapped up tying to do mythics to get me gear up I missed Christmas in LOTRO. They have such a lovely one too. Sorry I missed it

VardaToday at 4:44 PM
Aww, at least you probably got to go to the WoW Christmas. : )
and hi, Ioreth!

FingolfinToday at 4:45 PM
you missed Christmas.......:weary:
(heavy sigh)

IorethToday at 4:45 PM
They had a wonderfull sleigh ride and southing music, I could post a screenie of the sleigh ride, I took a million

VardaToday at 4:46 PM
Pick your favorite and feel free to post in our #screenshots

FingolfinToday at 4:47 PM
Hands Ioreth a slice of Fruitcane

IorethToday at 4:47 PM
My mom died in July and the rest of my year has been kinda abrupt. Nothing scheduled, I keep forgetting to do household chores, about the only thing I get done is WoW and sometimes forget that
takes fruitcake and sniffs to make sure it is fresh

VardaToday at 4:47 PM
Good to have a way to go outside our real lives like that. beware fruitcake
Moving on to

top

Tolkien!
(Hobbits might have good fruitcake?)

Tolkien has a lot of contrasting ideas throughout his books.
Hope vs Despair, scholarliness and warrioriness (is that  a word?).
Can we come up with any contrast examples? Any of his books are fair game.
Fruitcake vs Real Food?

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:51 PM
Aragorn vs Denethor.

FingolfinToday at 4:52 PM
(wipping mouth)... I believe Eowin was in despair at being left behind.  (sipping Eggnog)

VardaToday at 4:53 PM
Eggnog vs Swill
er

FingolfinToday at 4:54 PM
hey.... I can use my fruitcake to pound nails in my treehouse.

VardaToday at 4:54 PM
Eowyn's despair at being left behind and empathizing with Merry having the same problem, contrasting with the enormity of what they did when they went anyway. Ex-Witch-king.

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:54 PM
Depending on the Eggnog, the Swill might be the hope in that analogy, lol

VardaToday at 4:54 PM
uh oh! : )
That is some dense fruitcake!
Treehouse? ohhhh. You have your own flet? Talan?
A flet or talan vs a hobbit-hole.

IorethToday at 4:55 PM
EGGNOG! you are holding out on me?

VardaToday at 4:56 PM
Plenty of eggnog on this big, round table we're sitting at. Enjoy!
For that matter, a flet or talan vs elf underground cities and dwarven underground.
hey, a lot of underground homes in these books!

FingolfinToday at 4:57 PM
ahhhhh.... now you touch on a most excellent point.  When Eowin declaired that she was no man...... and she and Merry took out the Witch-King-of-Agmar.... the first time I read that (in 1973) I let out a Whoop that almost got me kicked out of English class.

VardaToday at 4:58 PM
What a great way to get in trouble in English class, by enjoying a great book! : )

FingolfinToday at 4:58 PM
I hold out to no on loreth..... (passing the carton of eggnog to Ioreth).

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:58 PM
Unless you weren't supposed to be reading that book, :}

VardaToday at 4:58 PM
oops

Eonwe ValarToday at 4:58 PM
Sorry friends, it is time for me to be off. Take care, good night, sleep well, and have fun :}

VardaToday at 4:58 PM
Thank you for joining in with us, Eonwe! Have a great night. : )
We are coming up on the hour, already!
Fin, please go ahead and finish typing. : )

FingolfinToday at 5:00 PM
I had to read the Hobbit as it was assigned... I then read the LoTR's. I went to the librarian and asked her to give me something as good as TLoTR and she gave me War and Peace!!!!!! apples and oranges.

VardaToday at 5:00 PM
lol  - what an interesting way of thinking she had.
Not even the same genre.

FingolfinToday at 5:00 PM
yeah....

VardaToday at 5:01 PM
But she's right, nothing else as good out there.

FingolfinToday at 5:01 PM
true that... true that....

VardaToday at 5:01 PM
But at least the same genre! Yikes.
And it's a compliment to JRRT. : )

FingolfinToday at 5:02 PM
yup....

VardaToday at 5:02 PM
Maybe she was picking something of similar doorstop size.

FingolfinToday at 5:02 PM
hahahaha
or that was just the best she had in her library.

ArienValarToday at 5:02 PM
uh .. fantasy as good as The JRRT books? . only thing that i can think that comes remotely close are the Darkover novels of the Grand Dame of Fantasy and the Valdemar books of one of her students ^^

FingolfinToday at 5:03 PM
well I did like Harry Potter (blush)

VardaToday at 5:03 PM
I did too. Meriadoc gave me the first three Harry Potter books and we had to get the rest. : )

ArienValarToday at 5:04 PM
i loved the first three ^^
the others are good yeah but too long

FingolfinToday at 5:04 PM
what was not to love.....

VardaToday at 5:04 PM
Too long? Nahh, I like to sink my teeth into a book.

ArienValarToday at 5:05 PM
hehe i have to admit i didnt like the last few volumes  but .. de gustibus non disputandum est grin

VardaToday at 5:05 PM
teeth marks in books instead of chompy toothy books coming at us

FingolfinToday at 5:06 PM
Dinner is ready here... I have to go.  Thank you  for the kind words. I do look forward to more meetings.

VardaToday at 5:06 PM
Huzzah!
And we are slightyly overtime. : )
Namarie!

the gavel zooms out on a sleigh
overshoots the hammerpad
the hammerpad turns sideways and rolls after it, giving chase
they laugh their way to the shelf before we hear a proper
thunnnk!

top

After-meeting!
Free chat about anything for the rest of the week. : )
Although we might be able to move back to Harbor for that. : )
Namarie! Must see to supper here on Taniquetil!
grabs a slice of fruitcake and a tall glass of eggnog on the way
caution: hammerpad is masquerading as a fruitcake!

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:42 PM
hey, catching up

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:59 PM
Sorry about that.
Health stuff again. I shifted it to too late.
Always takes up more time than I hope.
For what it's worth, I've been re-reading a bunch of Discworld lately. Its format is nothing like LotR, but it's fantasy and it's quite good

ArienValarToday at 6:24 PM
ah you are back :O)

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:24 PM
That I am!

ArienValarToday at 6:24 PM

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:25 PM
No, basically same thing as last week except a bit later.

VardaToday at 6:25 PM
Aiya Phar! : )

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:25 PM
Aiya
Also dentist appointment in 7 hours but still some stuff to do. I'll go there and then back to sleep.

VardaToday at 6:26 PM
Good to hear you're enjoying Discworld again, despite pages trying to fall out.

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:26 PM
hehe, yep
part of the reason I've been sleeping less in the past few weeks.

VardaToday at 6:26 PM
What a fun reason, even if not good for you. : )

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:26 PM
"Hmm, haven't read Wintersmith in a while..." 3 hours later "I forgot how good this one was!"

VardaToday at 6:27 PM
hehe

ArienValarToday at 6:38 PM
Bed time for me here .. oh i forgot to mention .. i ve got two weeks holidays from today. We will be in Glasgow over the weekend but we ll be back at some point Sunday afternoon , so i ll be here for the meeting

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:28 PM
Hm, for flashgaming I'll just go with the first 3 badges of the past week, they're not bad

https://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/indestructotank-ae is the first game! You're an indestructible tank, under attack by enemy aircraft. Your only weakness... is your fuel.
    Kongregate
    IndestructoTank! AE
The Anniversary Edition of IndestructoTank finally crash lands on Kongregate.
New Graphics and game modes await you in the form of the worlds most Indestructa...
By getting yourself hit by the aircraft's missiles, you get to bounce up in the air, and destroy the planes, seeing how far you can stay up in the air.
The bigger your combo, the more fuel and xp you get when you land.
Fill the xp bar to buy upgrades to get more planes in the air for bigger combos!
Goal is to max out all your upgrades and get a bunch of medals for height, combo, duration etc without running out of fuel.
So have fun bouncing around in the air with your tank

https://www.kongregate.com/games/molkman/caesars-day-off is a short, silly game where julius caesar has a fun day, doing some activities and organizing a party. It consists of various scenes where you get to choose thumb up or down, see what happens (often a lion is involved) and see how many people you can get at your party by making the right decisions (or how few!).
    Kongregate
    Caesar's Day Off
Caesar has some free time and he#39s gonna use it for wicked fun times. He sure knows how to do them bread and circuses!

Fun for a  minute or two
https://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/upgrade-complete-2 is the last game, and one of the first games that ever brought me to Kongregate. An ultimate upgrade game with shooter levels, and you collect money to upgrade everything. Not just your own weapons, and you can make a huge one in the end... but also menus, sound, graphics, and a variety of extra stuff to unlock. It starts out with virtually nothing, but all the stuff you can do is quite good
    Kongregate
    Upgrade Complete 2
The long awaited sequel is here!
You thought the original had enough Upgrades?
    YOU WERE WRONG!
This one has many, MANY more. Can you upgrade #39em all?

Blizzard gaming:
Heroes of the Storm:
2 new levels gained, Muradin to 16 and Malthael to 3, both through brawls. Level 382 now!
Also got the second and third event quests done, so 2 to go for the final rewards.
Hearthstone:
Getting used to the new way I play my classes. I check which classes I have available for any of the quests, and then poke the one with the least wins. Slow going, but getting there!
Brawl is an interesting one, where you get a deck of random minions and spells for your class, and every minion you play casts a random spell on a random target. Sometimes even itself!
A lot of luck required, of course. Still, I won it on my first try
WoW:
Raiding started again! Next patch is around the corner, with a new raid, but for now we're poking Heroic Palace again. Our dps seems to have increased quite a bit since the break, not sure why. Maybe people are maxing out their necklaces in the meantime.
We even brought down the entire raid in one night without much trouble.
Winter Veil is over; picked up all the gifts on all my alts, and got 3 new toys out of it: A wild holly, which is a non-consumable version of the old holly, giving your mount a reindeer appearance. It's a new model though, and can only be used during Winter Veil. So still a good reason to keep the consumable ones
And 2 battleship toys, 1 for horde and 1 for alliance!
anniversary event is still ongoing for a few days, but I got my final appearance piece (for my eligible alts) earlier this week, so I'm done with all the green dragons. Yay!
Weekly is timewalking, which is also fun too
The more I gear up my main (tank) with extra systems like azerite and essences, though, the more obvious it is that he's more powerful even in timewalking than my lower tank alt, who scales down to the same level as the main for the timewalks but doesn't have access to those systems. But he still manages fine.
Also, new pet from the expeditions! Or rather, the dubloons from the expeditions. An Albino Duskwatcher, which is an albino raven. Looks okay, but I think I'll still use my flamy pet for a while
And finally, a new warcraft novel arrived! The third part of the Traveler trilogy, a nice fresh new book, and a fun read, as I went through a few pages already.
Now we wait for the next book to arrive, which should be in march
And that's my report for this week!
namarie!
