Aiya!
I've managed to postpone the reason I'm late to after the meeting,
hopefully. Not sure how long I can stay here, but seemed better than
being a couple of hours late.
VardaToday at 4:01 PM
Here's hoping that works out for you. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:02 PM
Indeed  Feels a bit painful but it'll be fine.
VardaToday at 4:02 PM
We are supposed to keep it to be about one hour. Be sure and leave
as you need. This meeting is not supposed to bring pain.

"What are the Barrow-wights? Why did the wight tell Frodo that they
were “waiting” for him? What did it plan for the hobbits, and why?
How were the hobbits lured up to the Great Barrow? What explains why
Frodo was treated differently than the other hobbits, awakened
sooner, and found the strength to resist the call of the Ring in
such a desperate situation? :

Also in LotRO, since it's so Middle-earth based,
multiple events occurred to honor Christopher
Tolkien
who passed away, January 15 th at the age of 95.
All of us are immensely grateful to his bringing out the many notes
left by JRRT in readable form, even books, that might otherwise have
remained on the backs of envelopes or napkins and in other notes.
Just reading that handwriting was a feat!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:17 PM
Indeed! HoME was quite a feat.
VardaToday at 4:17 PM
Agreed. An enormous body of work.
He put out more volumes than his own father did, giving us the huge
history.
Before I go more into those events,
there is also good news to tell.
The LotRO Ithil branch kin house has full crafting services
as of today.
Thank you to Dis for the Bread Oven and Farming Garden!
Thank you to Falco for the Gondorian Supplier Horn and Gondorian
Workbench.
Thank you to Fangorn for the Visting Banker. (Hey, Landrovalians, we
could use one of those!)
I put in the Gondorian Forge and Gondorian Study.
.
On to events.
On Landroval server, all weekend,
The Winterstock multi-band event held on an ice pond between
Thorins' Hall and Silver Deep Mine, is dedicated to Christopher
Tolkien.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:21 PM
Heh. Bread Oven. Makes me think of that LotR parody from sesame
street.
VardaToday at 4:21 PM
The event was mentioned earlier. I attended and bring you this
screenshot:
This many people at a random time, when this goes all weekend:
http://valarguild.org/varda/guild/NewsArchives/extras/2020/Winterstock-CT-2020-01-18_192022_0.jpg
Many events were held all over.
Dis-(V) and I attended one on Ithil server.
Dis (as Trinka) and Varda (as Fainan) attended the memorial service
at the Party Tree held by the kinship "Grumpy Old Gits". For me, the
two golden eagle kites represented father and son.
I saw the one kite and put up the other, having that thought.

In the highest up one, the dragon firework was intended to be seen
as a flying spirit. It is golden and flies a long way, in a
U-turn.
If any of you have the chance to attend such events in your games,
please let us know. We would also be interested in seeing a
screenshot if you happen to make one.
When it was first known, the game Devs showed up at the Party Tree
to give homage.
We celebrate the amazing life and the gifts given us by both father
and son.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:26 PM
On all servers?
VardaToday at 4:27 PM
Probably. They can do that. I know they did on Landroval.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:27 PM
Yes, but I assume that's a lot of places to visit.
ElrondToday at 4:27 PM
aiya, checking in late.. unlike a wizard
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:27 PM
Aiya!
VardaToday at 4:28 PM
You arrived exactly when you were needed. Aiya Elrond. : )
If anyone else would like to speak, please go ahead.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:30 PM
We'll all miss Christopher Tolkien and his father for their combined
works, and I hope they've found their way out of Mandos and by Eru's
side.
ArienValarToday at 4:31 PM
i am sure they did and sit at a campfire theere and tell
stories to each other and those that are there already

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:36 PM
Aiya!
VardaToday at 4:36 PM
It's a fun bit. : )
and has actual discussion.
It reminds us how these books kicked off so much and why Christopher
Tolkien did a good thing in continuing it.
This is the start of adventuring parties with diverse types and
skills working together for a single goal, rather like our group. :
)
We are Tolkien fans and gamers trying to keep up JRRT's ideas.
and yet we're all very individual and see it in different ways.
The idea of the quest as a journey, to experience the world as well
as adventure in it.
Really primordial scary evil that would remake the world into
something in their own image unless resisted, and taking the minds
of the populace as well.
As elf into orc.
But resist and be an elf able to go on to joy in Valinor.
These are a few of the ideas in the above link. : )
There is a great deal about the types of redemption including saving
oneself or others or both.
Mythic worldbuilding, very carefully crafted.
A mythology for England where there was none.
He gave his languages a world, having to explain them. : )
AnarionToday at 4:47 PM
Yeah, because of LOTR a lot of works have more things they don't
have to explain
because people know what they are, if not from the work itself, then
from those that followed with similar conventions
VardaToday at 4:48 PM
True
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:49 PM
So many races and stuff that he invented.
Before him, an Orc was a fish!
VardaToday at 4:50 PM
And we had Orkney, the place
Phar, didn't know that one.
Just looked it up:
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:52 PM
I think I read it in a supplementary guide of Tolkien's works or
something. The word was based on orcas.

: )
"super serious news" enjoy! This is not for real, but fun.
Orca at least sounds like it.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:54 PM
Yep.
VardaToday at 4:54 PM
I think it's more likely related to Orkney. : )
We are coming up on the hour.
I'd like to relay Eonwe's comment on the Games Site:
Christopher Tolkien, third son of J.R.R Tolkien and
protector of his father's literary works, passed away January 15th
at the age of 95. Thank you, Mr. Tolkien, for all you did to
organize your father's writings to bring us more insight into the
world we fell in love with.
Thank you, Eonwe, for writing that.
Is there anything else anyone would like to bring up?
Enjoy the Extra Credits site, and be well, everyone!

Now I'm wondering if orcs are based on the inhabitants of Orkney.
Seems a bit harsh now that Orc has taken an almost always negative
term.
VardaToday at 5:00 PM
or he just liked the sound of it for what he wanted?
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:01 PM
Let's hope so!

Heroes of the Storm:
3 levels gained, from 383 to 386. Nazeebo to 14, Gul'dan to 14 (will
replace them in my active roster at 15!), and Orphea to level 3
through brawl. Gonna miss those first 2, they're some of the most
fun heroes I've played! But hey, it's my goal to get as many as
possible to 15. And maybe I'll get to pick them in brawls, too
Completed my first lap of the gameboard for the event. With 15 days
to go, not sure how many more laps I'll get to do, but the first one
is the most important.
Oh, and snagged a legendary skin for Mal'ganis from a lootbox.
VardaToday at 7:10 PM
Nice!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:12 PM
Hearthstone:
Still going onward, mostly with the druid because it keeps popping
up in class quests and it's still the most behind in wins. Brawl is
a precursor to the upcoming adventure, as you guide the League of
Explorers to Northrend through a series of portals, fighting tougher
enemies and building your deck along the way. Funny dialogue too!
WoW:
We've done our last Palace raids, unless the plan is to finish the
Normal run on tuesday, 2 bosses left, mostly going there with alts
(not me, I don't have max level alts).
Next reset we're heading into Nya'lotha, the last raid of the
expansion!
Yepyep, patch has come, Black Empire themed. N'zoth's attacking, and
we have to stop him!
It starts with a massive questline, taking you through Uldum,
Pandaria, and Blackwing Descent, as you unlock assaults, obtain the
legendary cloak, and unlock Visions, which you'll use to upgrade the
cloak.
Through upgrading the cloak and the Vision talent system, you get to
go further into the Visions, build up corruption resistance to be
able to wear corrupted items without too many nasty side-effects,
and venture into the raid to take the fight to the Old God!
The resistance I'm aiming for is at least 35 so I can use the best
guardian weapon from the second boss in the raid, which hopefully
won't take too long to get. Minimally 16 so I don't hit the 20
corruption threshold, which becomes rather dangerous.
Questwise I've been plowing through it, as the cloak is a high
priority. Skipping previous patches' content for now as I'm far
behind there, and even spending afternoons working on this
questline, which is a rare thing for me. But I've completed most of
the Pandaria section, and hope get through the Blackwing section
tomorrow
Along the way I've also obtained the first of the 8.3 essences, for
dps role, and the tanking and healing equivalent will soon be gotten
after the Pandaria part is done.
First one being the Breath of the Dying.
These also gived 10 corruption resistance, which means I'd only need
6 to 25 on the cloak.
For expeditions I got enough dubloons to buy the last vendorpet, a
Crimson Octopede. Next up the 3 cosmetic hats, and then I can start
buying salvage packs to aim for expedition rewards.
Or maybe I'll buy the heirlooms first, we'll see
The new dance is in for my guardian form, and people seem to like
it, so yay!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:24 PM
What else... ah yes, weekly quest is mythic dungeons, which I've
been doing. I accidentally did a Freehold mountrun purely out of
reflex, which meant we had to backtrack to kill the other bosses
afterwards, which led to some odd situations, like tackling the
second encounter without the previous trash-condition, making it
very difficult.
But we got there in the end.
And that's my report for the week! Next up, getting the cloak,
trying out visions and visiting the new raid for the first time
And now, Namarie!
