Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 4:44 PM
Ah, but you get the joy of hearing the story from a surviving npc

Well, they did tie in the new expansion with Zandalar focus in WoW,
so it fits
ArienVLast Sunday at 4:49 PM
A shame we have to say good bye to him now that we just got to know
him really.
Apparently he reigned the Zandalari though for over 200 years and
kind of unified the troll races.
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 4:50 PM
I wonder if he'll actually be taken out of the world though. Maybe
for those who've finished the 8.1 war campaign.
Well, unified is a strong word... the other races have always
respected the Zandalari, but the other races have generally been
doing their own thing  Though I guess they did unite during
the Cataclysm expansion.
ArienVLast Sunday at 4:51 PM
Only Zul of course and his High Priestess have always been messing
with Azeroth and never came any good of it ...

Tolkien:
Suggestions for a Tolkien moment Phar?
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:28 PM
Sure, I've got one. A powerful moment when I was going through the
Mount Doom chapter a few weeks ago.
If I can get this book to stay open...
"And far away, as Frodo put on the Ring and claimed it
for his own, even in Sammath Naur the very heart of his realm, the
Power in Barad-dűr was shaken, and the Tower trembled from its
foundations to its proud and bitter crown.
The Dark Lord was suddenly aware of him, and his Eye piercing all
shadows looked across the plain to the door that he had made; and
the magnitude of his own folly was revealed to him in a blinding
flash, and all the devices of his enemies were at last laid bare.
Then his wrath blazed in consuming flame, but his fear rose like a
vast black smoke to choke him. For he knew his deadly peril and
the thread upon which his doom now hung.
From all his policies and webs of fear and treachery, from all his
stratagems and wars his mind shook free; and throughout his realm
a tremor ran, his slaves quailed, and his armies halted, and his
captains suddenly steerless, bereft of will, wavered and
despaired. For they were forgotten.
The whole mind and purpose of the Power that wielded them was now
bent with overwhelming force upon the Mountain. At his summons,
wheeling with a rending cry, in a last desperate race there flew,
faster than the winds, the Nazgűl, the Ringwraiths, and with a
storm of wings they hurtled southwards to Mount Doom."
/end quote
I liked this one because it gave a very powerful view on the
desperation Sauron must have felt in that moment, when the wholly
unexpected was suddenly revealed, and his utter confidence turned to
fear and panic and one single goal to stop what was about to
happen.
Have you got an opinion on it?
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:41 PM
Sauron the Lord of Terror, Horror and Fear pannicks
panics
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:41 PM
Right
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:41 PM
i bet that was a first for him
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:42 PM
I wonder how he felt when his temple started sinking under the sea
in Numenor.
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:43 PM
similar maybe but he prolbably knew it wasnt the complete end of his
power
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:43 PM
Not as final a doom as this one, but still a major setback, and
probably an unexpected and panicky moment.
Indeed
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:44 PM
But else .. i don't think he panicked before or after
Well after the end in Mordor would have been difficult
probably in Mandos where he had to be for judgement?
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:45 PM
Still a few tough moments in the Silmarillion as well. Didn't he
lose a fight as a wolf?
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:45 PM
ah yes . iorgot about that .. against Beren or Luthien even
was it?
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:46 PM
Been a while... I know Finrod was involved, and what about Huan?
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:46 PM
Finrod actually went with Beren to Thangorodrim because he felt
oathbound
or actually that was before
I forgot the name of that fortress but Luthien was kept prisoner
there
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:47 PM
Tol Sirion, right?
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:47 PM
and Beren went to get her .. but Finrod came along
yes
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:49 PM
I thought Luthien and Huan came to rescue him
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:52 PM
then that was before ..
It was an earlier version what i have in mind
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:57 PM
Aha.
ArienVLast Sunday at 5:57 PM
i am just checking in Beren and Luthien
"Felagund was in the hands of Thu"
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 5:59 PM
Hah, Thu, I remember that name...
Wasn't he also involved in Turin's story?
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:00 PM
"Then Thu slew his captives one by one until only
Felagund and Beren were left"
"and Luthien sang outside the dungeons and everyone was beguiled
and even Morgoth desired her"
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:02 PM
Awkward.
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:02 PM
and as all the wolves came out Huan slew them one by one
until Drauglauin the greatest of his wolves came out*
some say that was Sauron in wolf form i think
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:04 PM
I think in the later versions, after Draugluin was defeated, Sauron
himself came out in wolf form.
Hang on while I look up if Thu was also involved in Turin's story...
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:05 PM
right then theen Thu knew that Luthien was not alone and came out
himself in wolfs form and made himself the greatest wolf that walked
the earth but was defeated and Huan won the keys of him"
so they let Beren and Felagund out and after that Huan
returned to Celegorm again but less was the love between them it is
said
thats my abbreviated adaption :_)
not a direct quote btw
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:08 PM
Ah, I was mistaken. Another sorcerer was involved with Turin's
story, called Kuruki.
If Thu and Kuruki had stood in their incarnations, they might
as well have been combined later on. But Thu turned into Sauron and
Kuruki got usurped by a dragon
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:16 PM
hehe
right our time is over actually in fact even with the delay and we
got a real Tolkien discussion thanks to your moment
so ... "the gavel jumps of its hook .. . makes a salto in
the air .. turns into a stick wolf . bounces abut .. decides its
rather a stick dragon .. flies in a circle before it loudly roars
and turns back into a gavel and back to its hook" ..
top
Aftermeetting!
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:19 PM
A stick wolf, eh?
Been messing around in Drustvar?
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:22 PM
uh .. btqw hehe seems so
i have finally managed to do "The Pride of Kul TirasQ" achievement
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:23 PM
Grats
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:23 PM
what a story eh?
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:23 PM
Indeed!
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:24 PM
makes our beloved "Bitch of Tempers" , how our horde characters love
to entitle her, seem more human and understandable
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:24 PM
Ah, well, as an Alliance main, she's one of my favorites
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:25 PM
oh aye i always liked Jaina
such a tragic figure
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:25 PM
Yep.
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:25 PM
a bit bad luck with lovers and would be lovers
. .. first Arthas .. then Kael .. then Kalec
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:26 PM
Might get back together with Kalec one day, who knows?
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:30 PM
I hope so
we know that Azures remain alive and active in . where was it .. in
one of the Legion Areas
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:31 PM
Azsuna, yep. But they're also still around in Northrend, and I
believe Kalec himself is still in Dalaran.
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:31 PM
Kalec as far as i know remains Lord of the Kirin Tor
we know Jaina visited him shortly before she left for Kul tiras
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:32 PM
Yep.
ArienVLast Sunday at 6:32 PM
and when Jaina gets beaten up .. I bet he might come tol her
aid and maybe with his help just escapes
i haven t seen the end cinematic yet of the raid so i am just
speculating
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 6:34 PM
Yeah, we're still on the Stormwall Blockade in normal. We'll get
there soon!
Though you will probably see it first

Personal gaming report!
Flashgaming: 3 games from the
onemorelevel site this week.
http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/fire_girl_and_water_boy_5
is the first! Return of a series wherein you control 2 characters at
once with controls on the opposite sides of the keyboard, in
platformer levels that feature symmetry, puzzling, and cooperation
between the two, but each is vulnerable to different obstacles.
Sure, you can move one at a time to make it easier, but if you want
to hit the timed rewards, it's good to multitask a bit
Fire Boy and Water Girl 5 - OneMoreLevel.com
This part of the series is a combination of the previous games, with
several level sets to unlock, taking place in the different temples
with different mechanics. Something for everyone!
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 7:10 PM
http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/ur_place
is the second game, a short-ish platformer, atmospheric and dark (in
other words, creepy) where you play a girl trying to find home,
taking you through various environments, getting brighter as you go.
There are ways to die, but unlimited lives, so keep trying
Ur Place - OneMoreLevel.com
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 7:21 PM
http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/adelie
is the third game! A mod of a game called Celeste, which I'd never
heard of, which is rather a tough platformer. You need to time your
jumps and dashes well. And also remember that you can dash upwards,
I couldn't get far before I realized that

Blizzard gaming:
Diablo 3:
Necromancer is level 65 now, and doing well! Completed the storymode
with Act V, getting 2 more achievements there, doing his first Rift,
as well as 5 bounties for chapter 1, and getting yet another
necromancer achievement at the Skeleton King along the way.
I've started on chapter 2, collecting Kanai's Cube, and getting
ready for a few more bosskills to finish that chapter, as well as
the last 5 levels required. With that done I'll have the first
setbonus of the class reward set, which I can use for a few more
necromancer achievements, leaving only the last grindy one for
elites/champions, where I need only about 70 more out of 500. I'm
hoping to get those during the bounty acts of chapter 3, and am now
feeling a lot better about finishing chapter 4 and the necromancer
meta achievement before the season is over.
Starcraft II:
Phase 3 of the war chest has started, and I've got the first tier of
5 completed already. Each war chest phase comes with a comic, and
this one finally seems to have hit the end, so I wonder what
they'll do for future war chests. Probably start a new adventure!
Heroes of the Storm:
The game board event is finally over. I managed to complete a third
lap about a day before it ended, so that was nice. Now something
new, smaller, is going on, with a couple of themed skins and mounts
based on a military/resistance theme.
There is a video associated with it, which mostly reminds me of the
A-Team, but is probably a common theme for over the top military
shows and movies.
With more references to other stuff as well
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBGhj-RC1Zw
for the curious!
YouTube
Heroes of the Storm
Join the Resistance!
Regardless, short of the new stuff to collect, there doesn't seem to
be much happening. I'm expecting something more lunar new year
like to come soon instead.
Anyway, still level 334, so nothing new. Brawl was one of my
favorites though, the testing facility where everyone gets stuck
playing the same hero, so it's 5v5 of the same random hero, which
makes for fun games.
Hearthstone:
All classes at 57 now! Onward to 58  The lunar event with the
extra rewarding quests is over, though I've still to complete my
last one. Rastakhan season has started, with 3 weeks of brawls with
fixed decks, based around certain troll champions and shrines, with
each week being more overpowered than the last. Also, there'll be a
quest each week to play (winning not needed, just play) 3 brawls for
a free pack. So enjoy the brawl!
WoW:
Still pushing the new raid. Working on stormwall blockade, as well
as clearing the 7 bosses before it, which is starting to go quite
smoothly. We're making a few bits of progress on the blockade, but
still far to go, as the timers are tight and the adds need to die in
time.
Getting more loot from various places, including some titanforged
bracers from an emissary tonight... getting upgrades out of raid is
not what I expected, but I'll take it.
Pallando-ValarLast Sunday at 7:45 PM
hi folks
did you see my messages in #harbor?
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 7:45 PM
Expeditions still continuing, got the achievement for total azerite
gathered from there. Couple of pets which were duplicates, and a new
transmog weapon.
Ah, your report from the exhibition?
Read through it, seems interesting, though I wonder if I didn't see
a similar map in the History... I'm sure Varda would like to comment
on it further in next week's meeting, languages aren't my thing
[Note: Below is Pallando's report
on the Tolkien Exhibition that he went to, referenced above,
from our Harbor channel:
Pallando-ValarLast Saturday at 10:22 AM
The two Towers he picked were Minas morgue and orthnac
For the original cover
Exhibit is packed
Pallando-ValarLast Saturday at 10:31 AM
Orome directly credited with the creation of language
Non_valinor
Pallando-ValarLast Sunday at 12:46 PM
So there wasn't a particular lot of legendarium info that struck
me as interesting, and I couldn't take pictures, sadly
The language tree that had all of the different languages and
where they came from was interesting. Either directly derived from
Valarin, or through Orome (all other Elvish languages) Aule (all
Dwarven dialects) or Melkor (Orcish).
Interestingly, the languages of men seems to be related to but not
directly derived from the languages of Orome, Aule, and Melkor.
I think this is all known info though.
There was a neat map that Tolkien drew that had a view from west
to east, with the Misty Mountains running lengthwise across the
map
and at an angle
not straight top down, but more like a 45 deg angle
I probably won't make the meeting, but figured I'd write that up.
Oh! There was also a map of proto-middle earth from I want to say
like 1918? But I couldn't describe it well enough to do it
justice.
Also some sigils for different people.
They were circles filled with various designs.
Ar-Pharazon-VWell, back to WoW,
Lunar Festival is over now, and Love is in the Air has started, so
I'm fighting the apothecaries daily for a chance at the rocket
mount, as well as gathering 150 tokens for the new hearthstone.
Going quite well, and ahead of schedule.
Weekly was pet battling, with a quest to win 5 pvp pet battles,
which I did with a full elemental team to work on the achievement
for that one.
More world quests! Mostly pet battles, still. Got 100% on humanoid,
while getting the achievements for magic (if that wasn't the week
before) and mechanical. Only achievement left is for undead, with 3
tamers to fight before I get that, but to reach 100% on all families
requires 13 more specific battles. End is nigh!
Been getting more pet charms from those battles and other sources as
well, and after analyzing the strategies for those missing 13 fights
a bit, I came to the conclusion that I won't need to level up too
many pets anymore for them. So I decided to spend the charms on new
purchases instead!
From the Stormsong vendor, I got a mechanical mouse toy, which you
can get your pet to chase, as well as 2 new actual pets, an eel and
a sort of blue butterfly thing.
Oh, speaking of pet vendors, those 5 pvp pet battles paid off in
that I got a reward from one, which unlocks a mission, which unlocks
a quest, which unlocks a new pet vendor, selling the pets from the
opposite faction's vendors. So I've got even more stuff to buy for
those charms. But at least I won't have to sneak into horde cities
and camps to buy those same pets now!
And I also got 2 more items from Arathi warfront rares, including a
2-headed buzzard and a toy which puts a brazier on my head, the
latter being dropped, of course, by a kobold.
And finally I've got a bit of more annoying news, which is going to
keep me a bit busier in WoW... I've run into a bug whereby returning
mail from my alts can appear as empty mails, which delete themselves
after closing them, causing those items to be lost. It's happened a
few times, and I'm not exactly sure what was was gone, but I
searched through my alts' mailboxes and at least the most unique and
unavailable items are still there. Made a ticket, but after some
ticketing back and forth, apparently it shows me as having deleted
those mails, and they can't be recovered. So I just submitted the
bug, and decided to store the more important items (those still
left, anyway) out of the mail and on my alts. In doing so, I'm going
to need to spend quite a bit of time buying bags, equipping them on
the characters, and analyzing each mail for the more important stuff
rather than the junk I can afford to lose. So that's a process I've
started this weekend.
I have a few ideas about how to avoid the bug, but still, this
should make me feel more secure about the stuff I really don't want
to lose, as well as ultimately giving me less mail to sort out every
day. So that's the silver lining, I guess.
And hey, it gives me a reason to use those new characters from the
allied races... more storage space
Ar-Pharazon-VLast Sunday at 8:24 PM
And after that short while of my router not working... that's the
end of my report for the week!
namarie!
