We are still here after all this time. You're all fantastic!
No spoilers may be given for Avengers: Endgame. ; )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:17 PM
Oh, if you want, I found a video yesterday, summing up the previous marvel movies up to endgame, sorted by main character.
VardaToday at 4:17 PM
That could be fun. Go ahead and link. I've seen them all but Endgame and would enjoy that.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:18 PM
I've seen less than half of them, I'm sure, and it certainly was a fun watch
VardaToday at 4:18 PM
Others would too, likely.

Getting a request to do invites on Anor [LotRO legendary server]. If anyone else needs some, let me know and we'll get to everyone.
Just let me know which server. It will be Fainan doing invites on any of them.
Please say something in our Valar channel so as to make it easy to click on your name (spelling not a problem then!).
This is one of the uses of meetings. You can collar an officer and put them to work for you!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:24 PM
A bit like you're a mother bird visiting the nest and finding all the little birdies crying for attention.
VardaToday at 4:28 PM
Glad to be of service. They say feeling useful is a major part of happiness. ; )
If any of you want to pitch in to help work on things for the guild, just let us know what you'd like to do. : )
Maybe pick a Vala or Maia to help, or do something of your own
Could be crafting, articles, art. In-game or in the site.
Thank you to Fangorn for a lovely plate of supper!
Any other membership news?
We have great news for Falco when we get to gaming. : )  (spoiler)

I've been tweaking some old things on the articles and authors that have long needed it, and much more of this sort of maintenance needs done and will be.
Would love to be putting up your new stuff! Much more fun.
Eonwe is being amazing about putting up news on the Games Site for us.

Good to hear!
VardaToday at 4:37 PM
Is there any help we can give?
FalcoToday at 4:38 PM
Nope playing will replace the lost items.   Nothing that can’t be replaced!

If anyone has a Tolkien topic, feel free to suggest it.

Tolkien!
The idea of returns, of coming back after adversity is in Tolkien's works too. Sometimes after almost succumbing to dark forces.
What returns can we think of? And from what did they come back?
This can be from any of Tolkien's works and is an open book question. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:10 PM
Thinking...
Well. There's Gandalf, who literally returned after a mortal defeat.
VardaToday at 5:11 PM
Very good
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:11 PM
And then took up a more active role against Sauron.
VardaToday at 5:11 PM
Better than ever!
ArienVToday at 5:13 PM
Bilbo made a sort of return ..
VardaToday at 5:13 PM
Aye - which are you thinking of?
ArienVToday at 5:13 PM
just before the dwarves went or the quest for Erebor
first he refused the advdenture outright .. at the tea / dinner/meeting with the dwarves he was first curios but nearly pulled out and collapsed
so much that he forgot he signed the contract with the dwarves
just as Gandalf turned up he ran after them swithout cloak or hankerchief
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:17 PM
Imagine if he needed to blow his nose!
VardaToday at 5:17 PM
Thorin's sleeve was worried.
ArienVToday at 5:19 PM
Hehe i  guess .. at least he had no runny nose like i at the moment alas .. whistles innocently
VardaToday at 5:19 PM
Bilbo managed to give up the Ring without turning into Gollum and chasing it the rest of his life.
gives you a large, lacy handkerchief
ArienVToday at 5:20 PM
*takes chingerly * thank yees
gingerly
VardaToday at 5:21 PM
(It's clean!)
ArienVToday at 5:21 PM
\o/

VardaToday at 5:21 PM
DelandriaToday at 5:21 PM
Nope all is quiet on the Eve front. :
(That's Celebrian)

ArienVToday at 5:22 PM
right .. Frodo came back after Shelobs poisienous sting and captivity  from the orcs
VardaToday at 5:22 PM
And kept on going on his mission. Aye!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:22 PM
Even after thinking the mission was lost, until Sam convinced him otherwise.
ArienVToday at 5:23 PM
and fulfilled with kind help from Gollum
VardaToday at 5:23 PM
Likely the Ring forced Gollum into that convenient fall, after Frodo's command much earlier. (Still wish the movie had used a voice-over during that as Gollum gets closer and closer to the edge.)
But you've all heard that a zillion times from me. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:24 PM
Well, in the movie he went over with Frodo, so not quite the same as being guided by the Ring.
VardaToday at 5:25 PM
Aye.
Speaking of returns, one of the books had that in its name.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:27 PM
"The king's back!"
VardaToday at 5:27 PM
lol - right
After a very long time, the north and south kingdoms were reunited and made safer, more prosperous.
We trust Aragorn and Arwen etc raised Eldarion right, since Aragorn said he had become a man full ripe for kingship, so there's two generations of decent, long-lived kings.
For Silmarillion fans, how about Osse?
Osse was the only Maia we know of that came back from Morgoth. It left him cranky and prone to causing storms, but he returned to Manwe.
Feel free to add to the list as you think of them. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:34 PM
Hmm, I did not remember that
VardaToday at 5:34 PM
the gavel hooks a rubberband slingshot to the hammerrpad that looks on incredulously
ArienVToday at 5:34 PM
ah yes he served Morgoth for a bit
VardaToday at 5:34 PM
It pulls back with help from other hammers
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:34 PM
I was thinking maybe you were referring to returning with the island.. which he ultimately didn't.. or something.
VardaToday at 5:35 PM
zonnnnk
ArienVToday at 5:35 PM
he was promised the powesrs of Ulmo
VardaToday at 5:35 PM
the hammerpad laughs and sends it flying back to the shelf
top

After-meeting!
ArienVToday at 5:35 PM
what a wonderful , agile hammer
gavel eve n
VardaToday at 5:36 PM
A point about the island, aye. Didn't want to lose the water-loving elves from Middle-earth and only towed the island ship partway.
They're maaaaagic.
Galadriel didn't like the word magic, as she associated it with evil sorcery, morgul magic.
But she had her own magic, of the kind that served the land and protected her folk.
And a form of telepathy.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:39 PM
Magic can be such a nice word.
ArienVToday at 5:42 PM
interesting that in Lotro there are actually no mages as such .. although when comparing the classes i think Runekeepers come closest  , they are blasty and use Frost, Fire and Lightning (arcane?) as damage
VardaToday at 5:43 PM
Aye - rune-keepers, lore-masters
ArienVToday at 5:43 PM
while Minstrels and Lorekeepers use the subltler magic of music and language
a bit like warlocks without drawing on the pain  or lifeforce of others
VardaToday at 5:45 PM
Not evil, but using knowledge of the meaning of rune words and of nature.
Lore-masters aren't quite druids.
ArienVToday at 5:45 PM
aye
where  come in the Beornings ^^
VardaToday at 5:45 PM
Shape-changers
ArienVToday at 5:46 PM
which remind me of Guardian and Feral druids
but also have the healing aspect
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:46 PM
Also a sort of magic, druidic magic
VardaToday at 5:46 PM
Most like the bear sark wearers of the North.
Bear sark, berserkers.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:51 PM
Funny where those things come from.
VardaToday at 5:51 PM
JRRT was fond of Norse mythology.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:52 PM
I meant the term "berserk(er)"
VardaToday at 5:52 PM
Agreed. It was from the Norse or at least Scandinavian traditions.
Pretty much up Phar's alley of expertise, I think.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:55 PM
Is it?
I'm Dutch, not Scandinavian :stuck_out_tongue:
VardaToday at 5:55 PM
Heh, guess not. I was thinking of archaelogy, old civilizations.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:55 PM
Oh. Right. Well. Never did look into Norse civilization much.
VardaToday at 5:55 PM
Ah, ok.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:56 PM
The bits I remember were are mostly a bit of greek and middle eastern stuff.
Fragments of Egyptian and Latin American.
VardaToday at 5:56 PM
Far Harad maybe : )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:56 PM
Maybe
ArienVToday at 5:57 PM
we almost got a perfect example in WoW  in the Kvaldir  and that lot :)#
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:57 PM
ah yes, the Vrykul!
ArienVToday at 5:58 PM
the Vyrkul yes
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:58 PM
Odyn, Thorim, Loken...
That entire Northrend pantheon.
ArienVToday at 5:58 PM
look at the houses, the weapans and the way they buried their dead
their belief in Helheim and Vallahalla
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:58 PM
Freya, Helya..
Odyn even has 2 ravens
ArienVToday at 5:59 PM
and the way the ships look
Viking boats those
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:59 PM
Yep!
Even the dragon motif comes back in places, Utgarde comes to mind.
As in the viking ships' prows, I mean.
ArienVToday at 6:00 PM
quite an interesting culture by the way and far more than the bloodthirsty barbarians we make them out to be nowadays hehe
Indeed
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:01 PM
There's always more room for sophistication when  you're in a safe spot to retrospect...
as in about a thousand years  later :stuck_out_tongue:
VardaToday at 6:01 PM
All safe and comfortable in our houses at peace.
ArienVToday at 6:03 PM
they didnt really choose that raiding life .. Norway and Sweden where they lived were quite cold and not that fertil other than for the more hardy plants like potatoes or swede roots (who would have thoiught  )
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:04 PM
A bit like the Greyjoys in Game of Thrones.
ArienVToday at 6:04 PM
but they needed to pay their taxes to their overlord  and feed their families which means they had to trade and needed money for that
aye
B ut yes it is that time yawns
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:07 PM
Yep, past midnight for you, past 1 for me.
ArienVToday at 6:08 PM
Namarie , my friends, have fun and sleep well when you get to it
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:08 PM
Namarie!
VardaToday at 6:08 PM
Namarie, Arien!
6:08 pm here.
Rest well or at least fast.
ArienVToday at 6:08 PM
thank you

Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:29 PM
Well, let's start the personal gaming report!
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 7:18 PM
Right, sorry, got carried away in one...
top

Flashgaming:
https://www.bubblebox.com/play/4500/emperors-on-ice.htm is the first game! More direct link rather than the onemorelevel one where it doesn't seem to load. You play a team of penguins on an iceberg and have to take out opposing penguins with snowballs, rugbyballs and missiles, upgrading after each mission. A bit like worms, perhaps.
Play Emperors on Ice - free on Bubblebox.com
Emperors on Ice - Aim and shoot to defend your territory.
Nice piratey theme as well.

http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/who_stole_my_bone is a silly, short dialogue game where you help a rather unintelligent dog find his missing bone. Gets slightly dark, and the dog's not always very polite. But still a lot of humor in it
Who Stole My Bone? - OneMoreLevel.com

and for the third.. hrmmm... let's give you http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/hangman_adventure which is a cute hangman game with knights, dragons and candy. Gather up awards by making it through word after word with as few wrong guesses as possible.

Blizzard gaming:
Diablo 3:
I think I'll skip next season. The new reward is for chapter 8 this time, which I've never  managed to get, and chapter 4 reward is a pet I already have. A bit sad, but I guess it leaves time for other stuff.
Heroes of the Storm:
From 342 to 343, with yet another level for D.Va. It helped that I got to play her for 2 of the 3 brawls. And with the third playing Hammer, it was actually rather fun, and we won all 3 games
Hearthstone:
Interesting brawl, with decks used in a recent championship. Part of the challenge was finding out what  each deck was based on and how to use it, and hope your opponent is at least as unfamiliar with his
Classes edging closer to next level. If not next week, then the week after!
WoW:
In the Crucible raid, we got the second boss down on normal difficulty, completing the short raid. Some tactics had been altered between the raids, and we actually got it in one attempt... so it must have helped!
In doing so, I got the best guardian tank trinket as well, so yay!
In Dazar'alor, still struggling with heroic mekkatorque. But we're going to devote the entire next reset to bringing him down, as it really does just need practice.
From the Pandaria raids, one more pet for me, the little stone dog, Stoneclaw.
All we are missing pets from now is the Heart of Fear raid, where I still need 2. If nothing else, at least it'll take less time
Since late in the Draenor expansion, a few years ago, I've been collecting inn-recruits every week in an attempt to get the full collection. Still about one and a half year to go, but this week I finally got one of the most famous followers, Fargo Flintlocke! Originally from a WoW webcomic, he was later inserted into Cataclysm (after his creator had been hired by Blizzard) and his entire crew from the comic had been included as possible inn-recruits.
So now I've got the dwarf himself, and missing only one of his team. Shouldn't take too long I'm sure...?
Got 2 more pets from expeditions this week, too! A snapper turtle, and a thunderscale whelpling. Whelpling is a recolor of the Stormborne whelp from Stormheim in Legion, and shares the same cute, luminescent-eyed, chubby little model. Nice unexpected addition to the collection.
And finally, lots more world quests and rep gathering! Weekly is world quests, which is always nice since I usually get it while doing my normal questing. As a result of the questing I'm now over 400 charms for the next pet, picked up the moonkin pet Ragepeep from an Arathi rare quest, and got the violet abyssal eel from the Storm's Wake faction, the paragon reward. I'm now only missing 2 paragon rewards from BfA, which are both toys. Should come around eventually!
Oh, and service medals from world quests going well too, only about 100 more for the next toy reward
And that's my report for the week!
VardaToday at 8:03 PM
Thank you, Phar.
Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 8:10 PM
namarie!
