We are still here after 21 years. Congrats all and enjoy the next
21.

Yay!
ArienVYesterday at 4:02 PM
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:03 PM
What will the world look like in 21 years?
What will computers and messengers look like?
Are we just talking to our screens at that point?
Flashy valarguild holograms?
ArienVYesterday at 4:03 PM
whatever they ll look like or be replaced by , the Valar Guiild will
still be there
VardaYesterday at 4:03 PM
I'm hoping for a moon colony and labs, maybe settlements. A Mars lab
at least, maybe more. Manned of course.
ArienVYesterday at 4:04 PM
here even
VardaYesterday at 4:04 PM
Be interesting to see what kind of gaming the gang will be doing
then. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:06 PM
WoW still ongoing?
ArienVYesterday at 4:07 PM
to be honest .. i dont think so
VardaYesterday at 4:07 PM
Never know. Look how long a lot of games are still going. Mario
Brothers, Pong. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:07 PM
Hehe.
VardaYesterday at 4:08 PM
Nostalgia if nothing else, maybe private servers.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:09 PM
Well, Ultima Online still seems to be going in some form, after
21 years.
VardaYesterday at 4:10 PM
They already have a WoW private server going that is in trouble with
WoW. If they can get a deal going instead of just a fight, it could
get cool.
But onwards...

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:27 PM
Hmm, gonna check if Fladrif's been online this week
VardaYesterday at 4:27 PM
Good idea
We know we had StarCraft 2 players on together this week:
Fangorn and Eowyn for two.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:28 PM
Me too, for more war chest business. Only 3 more daily matches
to go!
VardaYesterday at 4:28 PM

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:29 PM
answer is yes, Fladrif was last online 16 hours ago

Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:33 PM
Oh, and I've spotted Arien in WoW
VardaYesterday at 4:33 PM
hehe
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:33 PM
Valar channel actually saw some use!
VardaYesterday at 4:33 PM
Egad! : )
There's a spot in the Two Towers where
Gandalf asks Legolas to look ahead for them to see how Meduseld
fares, like using a handy spotting scope.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:34 PM
They're taking the hobbits to... Meduseld?
VardaYesterday at 4:35 PM
Now we know.
Quote:
CelebrianYesterday at 4:36 PM
Elrond is busy at the moment, helping someone in Eve.
VardaYesterday at 4:36 PM
Legolas gazed ahead, shading his eyes from the
level shafts of the new-risen sun. "I see a white stream that comes
down from the snows, " he said. "Where it issues from the shadow of
the vale a green hill rises upon the east.
"A dike and mighty wall and thorny fence encircle
it.
"Within there rise the roofs of houses; and in
the midst, set upon a green terrace, there stands aloft a great hall
of men.
CelebrianYesterday at 4:37 PM
I do know that if you play Eve and have stuff at any of the "I
choose you" citadels, especially the trade hub in Perimeter, move it
now. The null sec people have brought their warring into high sec.
VardaYesterday at 4:38 PM
"And it seems to my eyes that it is
thatched with gold. The light of it shines far over the land.
"Golden, too, are the posts of its doors.
"There Men in bright mail stand; but all else
within the courts are yet asleep."
end quote.
Thanks, Celebrian. And hi to helpful Elrond. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:39 PM
Poor guards, gotta get up early.
VardaYesterday at 4:39 PM
Way it goes. Up as early as the Fellowship.
ArienVYesterday at 4:39 PM
all night in fact, Phari ^^
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:39 PM
Even worse! Unless they get to go to bed soon.
VardaYesterday at 4:39 PM
It's kind of interesting because the description is familiar to us
from movies and games, and yet it is different.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:40 PM
"Oh good, the day shift's here."
VardaYesterday at 4:40 PM
About sleeping, that's in the next part that Gandalf says. : )
Quote:
"Edoras those halls are called," said Gandalf,
"and Meduseld is the golden hall. There dwells Theoden son of
Thengel, King of the Mark of Rohan.
"We are come with the rising of the day. Now the
road lies plain to see before us, but we must ride more warily;
"for war is abroad, and the Rohirrim, the
Horse-lords, do not sleep, even if it seem so from afar.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:42 PM
Probably not to be taken too literally...
VardaYesterday at 4:43 PM
Draw no weapon, speak no haughty word, I counsel
you all, until we are come before Theoden's seat."
end quote.
That comes from The Two Towers, "King of the Golden Hall".
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:43 PM
I take it that they don't all sleep at the same time
VardaYesterday at 4:43 PM
Shift work for them, no doubt.
ArienVYesterday at 4:43 PM
i slhould think so ^^
VardaYesterday at 4:44 PM
A little after, it's Aragorn that does the "Where now are the horse
and rider?"
It was about Eorl the Young and his steed Felarof, father of horses.
Anyway, the movies and games do use the book material, sometimes in
different ways. But it's good to go back and see what the original
really was.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:46 PM
So how was it different from the movie?
Pallando-ValarYesterday at 4:46 PM

VardaYesterday at 4:48 PM
Aiya Pallando. Thanks for the YouTube. He did a great job there.
[Note: thanks to Arien for the YouTube. "He"
referred to Bernard Hill, the actor for Theoden. The YouTube is a
song by Clamavi de Profundis. Trivia note for WoW: Bernard Hill
was in World of WarCraft: Wrath of the Lich King as Highlord
Tirion Fordring.]
Shortly after, the guards refer to Grima as Wormtongue. One might
suspect no love is lost on him there.
Guards inside the hall have a quick description, as much for
atmosphere as detail.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:53 PM
Tolkien was good at that.
VardaYesterday at 4:53 PM
"Their golden hair was braided on their
shoulders; the sun was blazoned upon their green shields, their long
corslets were burnished bright, and when they rose taller they
seemed than mortal men."
Aye, Phar.
It's easy to lose those wonderful lines like that in all that's
going on. Fun to go back and just enjoy those.
That Tolkien Moment and some of the following was all I had for
y'all tonight. Did anyone else want to add anything to it or their
own quotes?
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:56 PM
Still wondering how it's different from the movie
VardaYesterday at 4:56 PM
And thanks for pitching in your comments and url on this one.
The water, for one. The bright gold.
Aragorn telling the poem instead of Theoden.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:57 PM
I do believe they had some gold in the movie?
VardaYesterday at 4:57 PM
Aye, they did.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:00 PM
I remember a bit from the commentaries on the EE dvd wherein they
talked about finding the hill by helicopter, and they just knew
they'd found Edoras.
I suppose it's a shame there wasn't that river nearby?
Maybe they could've pasted it in!
VardaYesterday at 5:02 PM
Maybe so. Or we could say they were at the wrong angle or distance
to see it. : )
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:02 PM
hehe
VardaYesterday at 5:02 PM
We can work with them, yes we can.
It's the hour. Let's let folks get back to what they were doing,
eat, or sleep as the time zone demands. : )

Meduseld was modelled on Anglo Saxon Great halls .. i remember in an
Archeology Programm where they excavated one , one of the
Archeologists said "If you want to know what such a hall
looked on the inside look at the Great Hall of the Rohirrim in the
Lord of the Rings movies"
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:07 PM
looks at fallen house are those red shoes poking out?

uh before i forget it .. i am stuck iwith an instance quest in
Mirkwood in Lotro btw .. i am not sure whether its feasible in a
pair or three even but .. i know i keep dyeing when doing it
.. apart from the fact that the journey there is somewhat of a
bother .. always got to fight through those ruins to get to the
questgiver and end up on the cementary at the borders
VardaYesterday at 5:36 PM
Ok, I'll join you if you have time now?
Glad you could drop by, Pallando. : )
ArienVYesterday at 5:37 PM

Personal gaming report!
A few quite weird flashgames this week.
http://www.freewebarcade.com/game/toasterball/
is the first one! A 2-player game played with one keyboard, so
if you like you could even play against yourself  Control the
toast in your toasters, using them to move a bit and shoot toast in
the air to block a ball and get it in the other toaster's goal.
All done very spectularly in a cage match with people cheering.
Quite funny.
http://www.freewebarcade.com/game/de-void/
is the second game, shoot particles at the targets, causing them to
grow and move around a bit; try to hit the goals in each target
without getting hit by them. Can be quite tricky!
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:57 PM
And http://www.freewebarcade.com/game/planet-life/
is my favorite for the week  Semi-idle, semi-upgrade game
with something almost resembling a story.. you're a planet,
interacting with what you can find in space to begin with, and
slowly unlocking stuff like an asteroid shop, various inhabitants of
yourself, and the ability to have a robot servant mine resources for
you automatically, while upgrading various stuff. You also get a
dungeon, and a hero (upgradeable) to send into it, to collect rare
resources for you. Your final goal is something that apparently has
not been created yet, though the game's creator is planning on doing
it in some far future. So you may consider it unfinished, but you
can also see it as a stand-alone game where your goal is to reach
that point, while upgrading everything you can.
Blizzard gaming:
Starcraft II:
Almost done with the Warchest! After the match I just completed,
only 2 more matches to complete the chest; so now I have 4 out
of 5 tiers unlocked.
Diablo 3:
Almost done with chapter 2 of the season. Level 69 out of 70, and at
70 I can do the last few things like crafting to complete the
chapter. Next week will follow the bounty acts, and after that it
should be a smooth ride to the finish because of the advantages of
this particular reward set.
And by finish I mean chapter 4 complete
Heroes of the Storm:
Quests complete for the event, all the rewards got. Only needed to
do the final quest this week for 40 takedowns, which I managed in
only 2 games.
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 7:09 PM
Level 307 now. Pretty sure the one new level was Sylvanas, who is
now level 12. She's been quite helpful for the quests, and later in
the week as well.
Brawl this week was a single-lane fight in the industrial district.
Got a couple of heroes I was familiar with, including once again
Zagara, whose success last time was apparently not such a fluke
after all; I got MVP once again with a powerful build focused on
constant group-fighting, and enemy heroes clumped together.
Hopefully I get to do the same again in the future
We actually won all 3 matches this brawl, which is pretty nice!
Hearthstone
still going pretty well, with 2 classes nearly at next level and the
rest a bit behind. Not sure when the first leveling will come, but
can't be long now. Brawl this week is the boss battle royale 2, with
each class getting an appropriate dungeon boss as the hero, with a
unique deck and hero power. Chose the mage myself, and won a match
against shaman where the enemy hero ability actually benefitted me
more than the opponent. Quite fun, though perhaps not for the other
person
WoW:
No new bosses killed, but getting better on the ones we already had.
Cleared Uldir on normal difficulty in one night, less than 3 hours,
with only one wipe on the last boss because we had some problems
with the orb teams.
Rated battleground group ended up not happening this week, with not
enough people interested and the host not feeling well. Oh well, no
pvp this week. Got plenty of other things to do anyway!
Doing the old emissaries for missing paragon rewards in the previous
expansion's content once again paid off, with me getting the
Highmountain Elderhorn, a new mount!
Now the only things missing are the third mount from Army of the
Light, and the emissary reward pet from the Dreamweavers. Both will
probably be rather more difficult/longer to get, but at least I've
got one less emissary to waste my time on, as well as a class hall
mission I no longer need to watch out for.
Island Expeditions also continuing! Got my first toy reward. Had a
bit of hope after killing a particular kobold boss on the island,
and indeed, got the Whiskerwax Candle toy, which allows you to walk
around with a candle on your head for 30 minutes.
Silly, but the toys usually are
I also completed the Helping Hand achievement, freeing all the
different npcs, with the last 3 found this week. With that, my focus
on heroic difficulty is pretty much done; from here on I'll try to
get pre-made mythic difficulty expeditions, and have already found
some people interested in doing those and focusing on the
reward-collecting. So that'll be fun. Onward to 50 mythics!
Quested some more in Stormsong Valley. Completed the first 4 story
arcs now, completing the main story arc with Lord Stormsong and the
missing fleet, though there are still a number of questlines for the
achievement and a bunch of sidequests to do. I've started a
questline in the Forgotten Cove, which apparently gives a new quest
every day after completing the previous one.
During that, I also focused on an achievement to get 3 specific
madness buffs in the Cove, which is simply easier to get during the
questline than during the future world quest. Took me about an hour
to beat the randomness, but it's done!
Made it to Friendly with the Storm's Wake faction, too. That was the
last condition I needed to unlock the world quests, but I'm not
doing that yet, since I'd prefer to complete the zone without
cluttering the map and possibly getting confusing objectives. That
also means I won't be getting the 20 world quests done for this
week's weekly, but that's fine. I'll get those war resources another
way. I might still unlock them before the war front is over, though,
but I've got a week more for that.
And that's my report for the week!
Oh, and I also took a look at the Mead factory in Stormsong, where
my next sidequest will lead. It's the flightpoint with the
bee-mount, which is fun to use  I still hope we can get it
as an actual mount to use for ourselves at one point.
Oh, forgot to mention that I've also done the Shrine of the Storm
dungeon as part of the Stormsong questline. I've now done every
dungeon except the 2 mythic-only dungeons I have yet to unlock.
