Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:13 PM
Over here I think people choose names for either gender and then tend to wait to see what gender it is
Sure! I'm a guardian druid, bearing with people is what I do.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:13 PM
but non the less we are here
Varda wrote in her mail she might arrive late

Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:23 PM
Well, my life's about to change a bit... I'm starting some extra volunteer work, agriculturally, on tuesday and thursday mornings to shake up my routines a bit and get used to a working schedule, and pretty soon I'll also be entering a sort of fitness regime with my mother's physical therapist based on my own health issues.
So overall I should get a bit more of a life, and better health, as I work toward getting a real job
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:24 PM
that sounds great and good luck with it  and more than that i really hope you will be blessed
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:24 PM
As an atheist I'll settle for healthy
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:24 PM
I am sure it will work out fine so heads up

Tolkien:
so if you are ready Phari we have a wee think about Tolkien topic
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:07 PM
Sure!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:07 PM
any idea :)?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:08 PM
Maybe something related to the exhibition you're going to?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:09 PM
just one thing to mention there we know that Papa  Tolkien was influenced by the landscape he saw around him in Oxfordshire .. especially a village called Brill thathas a still standing windmill
wonder where i heard that name before .. Brill . hmmm
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:10 PM
Tirisfal Glades?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:10 PM
maybe
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:10 PM
Unfortunately, the next expansion does not bode well for the place.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:10 PM
well  ...
can you think of places in real life that we know of influenced Tolkiens writing ?  or what influenced him in general?
this is just spontaneoous i havent read up or done research but let us see what we can come up with
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:13 PM
Hmm.
Atlantis?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:13 PM
myths and legend rightr
what did that inspire :)? with Tolkiedn
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:14 PM
It might be real!
And it inspired the story of the Second Age, with the highly advanced human island kingdom of Numenor, which sank beneath the waves.
Hmm, what else...
I suppose he was inspired by a volcano, though it might not be a specific one.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:19 PM
oh yeas they don t know but we do have some orf the ancient historians mention it  and at least there are some hints  of the legend that sound suspiciously like report of a catastrophe of a land that has sunken
possibl y
possibly yes
interestingly they put Saurons temple to morgoth on top of the Holy Mountain .. a  volcano maybe?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:21 PM
It did have a lot of smoke coming from it.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:21 PM
fascinating
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:21 PM
I was more thinking of Mount Doom, though
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:22 PM
other influences  from History or Mythology you can think of?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:22 PM
Hmm, location wise...
What could be inspired by real life locations?
Mountains, forests, plains, lakes and springs...
From some of the movie locations you'd almost swear Tolkien had New Zealand places in mind when he wrote the books
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:26 PM
The shire reminds a bit of Oxfordshire deed .. obviously . especially narrow gorges
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:27 PM
hehe
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:27 PM
and wild rivers
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:27 PM
I've not been there myself.
But yes, the Shire was supposed to have been around England, region-wise.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:28 PM
i dl love to go there but looking at the locations from the time they made the film they must be real
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:29 PM
I remember them talking about the big plateau they built Edoras on, as if it was made for it.
A similar plateau may have been inspiration for Gondolin.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:29 PM
and  The Riders of Rohirim  do remind much of the Anglo Saxos , especially the houses and Meduseld indeed is the closest thing you have tor a picture of an Anglo Saxon royal Meadhall
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:30 PM
Harad and the Haradrim have a bit of a North African feel, southern Mediterranean.
Down to the elephants, similar to Hannibal from Carthage
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:31 PM
indeed the poor old Oliphauts
Oliphants
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:31 PM
Yep!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:32 PM
reminds me of a young Hobbit in the middle of  wilderness meeting with grim stangers on the edge of a war and shortly after  a battle quoting old shire verses
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:32 PM
was that in Ithilien?
Ah yes, and Sam with the verse about the Mumakil.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:35 PM
uhu yes
or no actually  i confused that as well my foggy fault#
that was in front of the Black Gate
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:36 PM
Was that where they saw one?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:36 PM
Sam asking Gollum whether he had seen an Oliphant marrching out there
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:36 PM
Ah.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:37 PM
ah i am sure Varda will put it right when she turns up or tell you next week
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:37 PM
hehe
what about Forochel?
Inspired by the Inuit?
Or is it more Viking?
Finnish perhaps.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:42 PM
Lotro used an Inuit scenario
the people living there .. Mordor reminds a bit of Tundra and desert .. remember not the whole of Mordor was barren and plantless
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:43 PM
Wouldn't really be able to sustain people if it was.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:43 PM
there were still  areas where corn was grown  and propbably mounts bred and raised
the wainraiders   .. they sound a bit mongole like?
marauding raders if i remeber right?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:45 PM
Possibly, but not sure about the wagons.
Sounds a bit more like US colonial times.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:46 PM
some celtic tribes  actually used wagons to live in .. the Sarmates for example a tribe that lived  in what is today Hungary , East Austria
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:46 PM
Or something from Greek times, perhaps...
and yes, that could work too
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:47 PM
speaking of Rivers . the Anduin is a bit like the Rhine :)?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:47 PM
Long river, starts in mountain, goes past forest, is home to a large harbor city at the end?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:47 PM
something of that dimensions and the Brandywine  river like the neckar that flows into the rhine :)?
yeah .. it does eventually .. let me think .. or blush let me check
The Rhine is more like the river Isen actually looking at this map
a long river with a huge delta that joins the great sea .. aka north sea
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:51 PM
Directionally, sure. Otherwise, it still kinda fits.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:51 PM
flows together with several rivers in the netherlands eventually in the Ijseselmer and then into the Northsea
into
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:52 PM
Eh, only partly in the IJsselmeer.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:52 PM
and  Waddenzee
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:53 PM
Most of it goes west past Rotterdam.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:53 PM
and Maarkermer
and smaller Arms indeed past rotter dam and Den Haag
but the whole River ends up finally in the North Sea
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:54 PM
True!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:55 PM
Right what elsee do we have ?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:56 PM
Mountains!
Mountains, Gandalf!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:57 PM
we have the influence of the Christian Creation of course in the Ainulindale .. the idea of Eru creating merely by  speakng  with the idea of the minor spirits the Maia , not too unsimilar like the Angels .. oh dear .. dangerous territory i know  but one sees the parallesl
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:58 PM
Greatest lieutenant of the Creator falling to evil out of jealousy? No, doesn't sound familiar at all
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:58 PM
Aiya
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:58 PM
hehe
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:58 PM
Aiya!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:58 PM
Aiya Varda
glad to see you
how are you?
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:59 PM
Very happy.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:59 PM
I always liked how Tolkien's mythology combined monotheistic creation with a polytheistic pantheon.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:59 PM
But I need to run make supper right quick for all these people.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:59 PM
Ah, good luck!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:00 PM
good luck and say hello from us
Varda - Last Sunday at 6:00 PM
Bilbo's twins had the gender reveal party. We just came back.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:00 PM

Varda - Last Sunday at 6:00 PM
Anyone want to know right quick?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:00 PM
Yay! What's the verdict?
Varda - Last Sunday at 6:00 PM
Boy and girl!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:00 PM

Ok, running to cook. Elwing is here, plans to join us in LoTRO shortly.
Will scroll back. Sounds very interesting
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:01 PM
enjoy the meal
and the cooking
very Hobbit like   i guess they d love to join
right .. . not to mention how in the Lord of the Rings Christrian values like Forgiveness and Tolerance shine through from time tto time , same as mercy and the willingness to help others in a need greater than the own
like Merry with the Pipeweed he offered Saruman
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:04 PM
Well, Tolkien was Christian, so it would make sense.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:04 PM
it would
there is nothing more i can dig up  from  my head .. and the time is up
so .. *takes a feather and an ink pot and draws a metal gavel .. the drawing springs from the paper .. catches the gavel and just about manages to hammer it on the virtual meeting table  .. *

Aftermeeting
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:07 PM
Still, I'd hope things like forgiveness, tolerance and mercy are not just Christian in nature, but a sign of advanced civilization where social harmony is more important than violent competition
It makes it easier to live in large cities etc.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:07 PM
it does indeed
carry on feel free to add more if you want
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:08 PM
I wonder what a paper gavel hitting a table sounds like.
Rustling a bit, perhaps!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:11 PM
sends a spark on it to lighten it up and add a crackling sound .. speaks word of power and extinguishes fire
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:11 PM
Ooh, fancy.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:11 PM
well .. i shall be heading to be  Phari .. sorry  to leve you alone :/
to bed
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:12 PM
Namarie! And Varda is here.. somewhat...
And enjoy the Tolkien thing
ArienV - Last Sunday at 6:12 PM
i think so she is yes
thank you ! I will

Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:35 PM
Personal gaming report!

Let's hunt some flashgames.
Varda - Last Sunday at 6:35 PM
back
Glad you guys handled the meeting! Much appreciated.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:36 PM
Hopefully you'll be around next week though, because Arien won't be
Varda - Last Sunday at 6:36 PM
Hamson and Elwing are in LotRO
I should be. : )
Far as I know, nothing planned then, so this should bump most anything else that can come up.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:44 PM
Right, I've got some.
http://www.freewebarcade.com/game/platformer-mixtape/ is the first! A short-ish platformer, 20 levels. Bit of a puzzler in when to move and jump, but most of it is practice and getting the timing right.
Variety of mechanics including bouncing floors and ceilings, gravity-switching levels when you jump, teleporters, and giant circular saws moving around you have to avoid.
Not too difficult though.

Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 7:06 PM
http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/afterlife_the_game is the second game! Drag and click stuff to get through the fast-paced levels as a ghost, getting to hell or heaven (your choice at the end, actually - heaven is easier, though, ironically). Be warned, though, a jumpscare in one of the earlier levels.
Afterlife The Game - OneMoreLevel.com

http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/make_7 is the third game. Tough one, not been able to finish it yet. Simple though. You get random numbers from 1 to 3, place them in the grid; when you get a three of the same attached, it converges on the third spot to make a higher number. Goal is obviously to make 7, but I've not been able to get beyond 6 without filling the board.
Make 7 - OneMoreLevel.com
Takes some thought and planning, and a bit of luck to get the higher numbers

Blizzard gaming!
Hearthstone:
The new event has started (in Europe, anyway) with extra dust for each daily quest rather than just gold, and new temporary cards available in arena.
Still pushing forward on xp for all classes. Brawl this week: Randomonium. Choose a class, get random cards for that class, which also randomly switch mana cost every turn. As such, it is advisable to try to keep more expensive cards in your opening hand, and hope you get lucky
Heroes of the Storm:
Still level 276. I did get to the point where I had to buy myself a new Starcraft support, though, and went for Morales.
Bit of an odd hero, possibly even more purely heal-focused than Lucio, which means soloing a lane with it is not advised. Still, it is possible to make a bit of a grenade spec which helps in teamfights.
Also finished the Nexomania questline pretty easily, focusing on takedowns in groupfights in the last few matches. All new rewards got!
Next event will start this week, with new quests, including one to play with friends, but that should be fine.
Brawl was a single-lane fight. Mostly heroes I was already quite familiar with, though I did end up having more practice with the somewhat unfamiliar Malthael. Went okay, though.
WoW:
Raiding still going along, no new mounts/pets from old raids or anything new from current raid. But I did collect some new stuff otherwise, which I'll get to in a bit.
Weekly quest is mythic dungeons, and had me doing a variety of mythic levels, including some keystone dungeons. This included Vault of the Wardens, where I still need a recipe, and which I have been doing on heroic every day as well... but looking online for a moment, I found out the droprate is slightly higher on mythic difficulty as well. So I think I'll re-add that to my weekly schedule again.
But I did collect a whole lot of other things!
To start with, I finally got the toy that drops from 2 rare mobs on Argus, the barrier generator. Been checking and camping out those 2 mobs for a long time, so I'm glad it's done. Nothing left now except 2 mounts, but those are less important. I will be checking the mobs for those regulary, though.
Also got a new legendary token, for the shaman this time. It's my second alt-class-token, and while it may not see use for a long time, still nice to collect them now and then.
I then got a new cloak from outdoor Argus, a rare one which normally comes from the quite rare cloak token you might get from rare mobs, with a really low chance. I've been killing plenty of rares, but I ended up getting it from the second possible source: A random proc from the Veiled Argunite-bought cloak token. It was the item I had in mind when I started buying cloaks, and now I'm pretty much done with the Argunite.
Other than that: Pets! Many, many pets.
My next big project was Broken Isles Safari: collecting all the wild pets found in the Broken Isles zones. I'd already gotten some in Azsuna and Suramar, but also collected all of them from the other zones as well, completing the achievement with a Fawn reward. Made it challenging for myself by collecting only Rare quality pets, killing and patrolling for respawns if necessary. Only exception was the Hog-nosed Bat, a Highmountain pet that's so rare I settled for a normal one.
As I went along I also decided to go for other pets in the zones I hadn't gotten yet, from quests and drops, including a low-drop Eye pet from Suramar which luckily only took about 30-40 kills for me while it could've easily been hundreds, an Ashmaw cub which I had to protect from some aggressive sprites which had killed its family (very sad story) and a dog I rescued from a burning house near Bradensbrook; don't know why I missed that quest for so long.
But I've got all of those now, with the last Safari pet gotten early in this very meeting  Next up I'll be heading to Argus to collect the few pets there.
And I'll wrap up the report by saying that the Before the Storm novel should arrive in a couple of days, with my last missing volume of the main Warcraft Comic series being estimated for a 3 days later, so looking forward to both of those
And that's my report!
