Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:38 PM
A tree in Moria?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:40 PM
yes an Ent in Moria indeed :)P
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:41 PM

Actually, I think Bregalad was your helper in Moria, another Ent.

Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:42 PM
Aiyata!
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:42 PM
Aye, he mentioned doing it is how I know.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:42 PM
he was in a rush and i kept falling down the ladders ^^
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:42 PM
Ouch, not falling too deep, I hope?
Might land on a balrog.
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:42 PM
So that's why it's been seeming overcast lately. The sun fell.
Speaking of Fangorn, he's back too.
Bilbo and his bunch were here earlier, just left.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:43 PM
A great
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:43 PM
The 13 dwarves?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:43 PM
I hope they are well
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:43 PM
Everyone's well, at last. The weather warmed up and everyone got better
with it.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:43 PM
Good good
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:44 PM
Scrolled back. On Tolkien Site news,
work's being done on the Dwarves section to go along with the Dwarven
Kings section.
In the process, discovered that diacritical marks were not the same
across the books.
Fangorn says hi.
Actually "Hi everybody"
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:46 PM
Hi Fangorn waves
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:46 PM
aiya Fangorn!
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:47 PM
Any further business, news?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:47 PM
did you have any names to add to the Lotro list?
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:48 PM
I'm not in LotRO but will check it out in a bit and add to the
transcript. I go back 6 days from the meeting day.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:48 PM
all right
I cant check that on the hunter i fear since she is no maia
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:49 PM
Anyone can check it
Go to the check mark and uncheck it to show other days. Click Online to
get it in order.
For names, use what looks like a grayed out arrow to switch between
locations, names, join dates.
That isn't as intuitive as the UI maker probably thought it was.
Did that explanation help any?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:51 PM
How does it compare to the WoW method?
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:51 PM
Arien will have to answer that one. I haven't been on WoW since pandas.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:51 PM
I don't think the basic functionality has changed since classic
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:52 PM
Interesting.
We used to be able to make the notes alphabetical but someone must have
decided we didn't need it.
Since we all put our names there, it would help. Must poke Devs again.
Ready for Tolkien?
Arien might still be busy wrestling the interface.
Was chatting with Tulkas the other day. He's still playing LotRO a lot.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:55 PM
Names to add would be Celebrian, Luthien and Erkenbrand
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:55 PM
Thank you.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:56 PM
and Thandruil in fact
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:56 PM
Thanks again.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:56 PM
Thats all of them
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:56 PM
Now we need Phar... Or have Fladrif bring in his little guy
again.
Phar has enough on his plate, really. So, ready for Tolkien?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:57 PM
ready!
Varda - Last Sunday at 4:58 PM
I'm being called away, brb

Tolkien:
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:00 PM
First off, when looking up the names of Thorin's Company, the diacritical marks in the Hobbit did not agree
in some cases with the Lord of the Rings.
In case it's just my copy, could you two look in your Hobbit and see
if, for instance, Fili and Kili have marks over the first letter I?
i
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:01 PM
Will get mine.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:01 PM
Thank you
Fíli vs Fili
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:02 PM
They appear to just have dots.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:03 PM
Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin should all have diacritical marks according to
the Appenix in the Lord of the Rings.
*Appendix A, part III
Same in mine.
Maybe it was because it was intended for a younger audience? Not just
because mine is an American copy?
Anyway, I've been scrambling to do corrections, adding those in.
I have some difficulty seeing the little marks, using a magnifying
glass to be sure on the books.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:06 PM
My version's British, by the looks of it.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:06 PM
That should be the closest to Tolkien's intentions then.
Arien just switched to WoW, maybe she'll be answering your question on
the kin listing soon.
One of the things very noticeable about
the dwarves was their superior weaponry.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:08 PM
Actually I think I read somewhere that Tolkien's intentions would be
something closer to Icelandic
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:08 PM
That gave a big edge during their war with Azog's orcs.
Good point, depending on the region in the books. He used different
languages for bases for them, as well as his own languages.
Such as Rohan
The dwarves were the go-to guys early on for weapons and even armor for
Thingol's elves too.
And Turin used a mask made by dwarves that helped him against even
dragon fire.
Helm, I mean.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:11 PM
They were certainly good at crafting stuff!
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:11 PM
Why would the dwarves be so ahead of everyone on weapons?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:11 PM
Well, they're the children of Aule.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:11 PM
True.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:11 PM
Add mark somewhere in t here.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:11 PM
i have a normal dot here
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:12 PM
hehe. Two dots on top of the e.
Oh, Arien, you mean Fili and Kili?
in the Hobbit book?
But in the RotK Appendix, it has diacriticals. Others too, such as Oin
and Gloin.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:14 PM
yeah .. i ll check
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:14 PM
To be fair, Oin and Gloin sound better for a children's book without
the marks
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:14 PM
I agree, especially for Americans.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:16 PM
yeah they have Diacriticals all right in Lotr appendices
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:19 PM
Dwarves were also stubborn and sturdy, which also helps when crafting
with metals.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:19 PM
True
Having underground working areas had to help, except maybe with heat.
They must have had some hefty ventilation systems.
Living underground should mean they had to think about a lot of
mechanisms that surface folk never had to consider.
Tunneling underground would also mean a strong understanding of how to
mine, where seams of various metals and other things could be expected.
I wonder how much of Aule's crafting knowledge went into their original
build?
The seven fathers (and mothers) were already working as crafters, even
if robotic. They had to at least pick up some techniques.
Since Aule was operating them at first with his mind, maybe quite a bit
went into them to handle the work.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:27 PM
Quite a bit of his mind, yes, the way he saw things.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:28 PM
Some of the first interactions with elves were with Caranthir. The
Noldor and Dwarves were all fans of Aule's and craftsmanship.
But there's a reason Caranthir is surnamed "the Cruel".
Those elves would not help leave a good impression.
Still, that let them have a way to get to know Celebrimbor and some
other less haughty and unpleasant folk.
That association with those groups would have added to Dwarvish
knowledge of crafting, given them new insights and techniques.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:30 PM
The Thingol incident didn't help.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:31 PM
The Silmaril's being involved there surely made the situation horribly
strained.
That one involved their craftsmanship with making the necklace.
Interesting because normally where beauty was involved the crafting
might be from the elves. But Thingol wasn't a Noldo.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:33 PM
Wasn't too fond of them either, I think?
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:34 PM
Thingol was one of the first to work with the Dwarves, using their
weapons and armor to fight the orcs, helping them all.
He had a long relationship and must have had a measure of trust.
Particularly to put himself right in there with them.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:35 PM
Thingol incident?
I cant remember that ... can you expand?
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:35 PM
The Nauglamir necklace.
The necklace was to have the silmaril mounted in it.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:35 PM
That's the one.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:36 PM
ah yes vaguely
of course he wanted Beren to get it right?
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:36 PM
Hah
Aye, he wanted Beren to get the Silmaril.
Or better yet, to die getting the Silmaril and leave Thingol's
daughter, Luthien, alone.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:39 PM
indeed
kind of catch two flies in one go
but back to the dwarves
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:40 PM
True on catching two.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:40 PM
And yet Beren went to avenge him.
Varda - Last Sunday at 5:40 PM
More like a win/win
And the Nauglamir wound up with Luthien, to whom Beren was married.
But in any case, everyone, including Elves, consider the Dwarves to be
excellent craftsmen.
Craftsdwarves?
That's quite a compliment coming from even the Noldor, great crafters
themselves.

Flashgaming:

is the first! I maaay have linked it before, and it's certainly by the
same makers are the Pixoji game I linked a few weeks before. But didn't
come up as a badge until now, so apparently I hadn't gotten too far.

Mine of Sight
Minesweeper#39s weird cousin. Use a variety of clues to find all the
mines. Over 100 levels.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 6:10 PM
whoops. alt wasn't training skills for almost 24 hours
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:11 PM
A combination of minesweeper and nonograms, find all the hidden mines
by the numerical clues. Contrary to minesweeper, no guessing involved.
Good luck!
Varda - Last Sunday at 6:12 PM
Oops, Pallando
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 6:12 PM
86d of skills in queue now. should cover me for awhile..
main only has 13d, suppose I ought to get the next skill he needs too...
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:13 PM
When it comes to so many days, it doesn't seem like 24 hours
matters much.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 6:15 PM
The alt's just picking random stuff up at this point really. I'm kinda
halfway training him to a be a cap alt, but eh.
The main is on a mission though.
http://puu.sh/z6KJc/79ab796a29.png
that's almost all of the skills I'm doing for the main.
you can't quite see the last 4 level sof gal dreads.
after that I'm practically out of skills to train. I can eek a few more
months out of titan training (which I'll never actually fly)
but then I'm basically done
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:19 PM
Second game! http://www.freewebarcade.com/game/mini-golf-world/
is the second game! Lots of minigolf levels. Decide force and direction
of the ball. Is fun, but actually putting the ball is quite difficult
because you can very easily overshoot it if you go just a bit too fast.
Just noticed I typed "second game" twice.
Anyway!
Third game is http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/adam_and_eve_zombies
is a point and click puzzle game where you're a caveman fighting a
bunch of cat zombies. I'm not quite sure about the premise but I'm
guessing it's a sequel to an original adam and eve game. Might need to
look it up. But you don't need that to enjoy figuring out the levels!
Adam and Eve Zombies - OneMoreLevel.com
Blizzard gaming!
Hearthstone: Couple of free
packs for the championships going on, that's nice, even though I never
pay attention to those. Brawl this week was also championship themed,
because it featured several decks used by past world champions in their
matches. Interesting to try out the professional decks
Heroes of the Storm: Level 244
now, not sure what hero got that extra level. Probably Tassadar, Lucio
or Genji. Regardless, slowly moving forward! Brawl this week is the old
temple arena, try to control the temples to shoot the enemy core. Had
some pretty close matches.
Starcraft II: Second part of the War Chest complete! Now waiting for
the third and last part, which will open up in about 2 weeks. Mostly
looking forward to the next installment of the accompanying comic, as
well as the primal zerg skin for the overlord
WoW:
More progress! More questing! More mounts and pets!
None from the usual old Cata raids, though we did get another person
the last Blackwing Descent pet we were lacking, so don't have to go
there again.
We did do something extra for our little party this week, though, at my
guidance; searching for pages with obscure hints across Azeroth,
including 3 instances. I'd already researched the answers, with the
Chronicles Volume I as key, so with the mage friend we were able to
zoom across and get all of us a new mount, the Riddler's Mind-Worm,
within about an hour.
So that was fun
But it wasn't the only riddle-series I poked this week!
On monday I tackled the Kosumoth summoning process, which required
finding a skull in an isolated cave on the Broken Shore to give to an
npc. Both the npc, Drak'thul, and the skull, are references/sequels to
a storyline all the way back in Warcraft 3, where you help Drak'thul
put the fighting spirits at rest at the Tomb of Sargeras. Really nice
throwback
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 6:40 PM
You have to buy the warchest, right?
(sc2)
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:40 PM
After that, the stones on his table can be overlaid with a series of
orbs found all over the Broken Isles, mostly in hidden caves. But I got
them all, seeing a lot of fun corners of the BI during that journey,
and when it was done I was eligible for the Kosumoth world-quest.
Yes, you do, for any of the 3 races or the total package at a discount.
Normally not my thing, but there are a lot of skins, emojis and other
things to unlock, so I thought it was worth it. But then you still have
to get experience to unlock them.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 6:41 PM
thought so
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:42 PM
Anyway, Kosumoth is a world-quest at 2-week durations, giving either a
new mount or a pet. As a result, I've now got the fathom-dweller, an
underwater mount  Pet did not appear yet though, will hope it's
there in 2 weeks.
And another secret riddle-series completed, of a sort! There's a new
pet in a cave on the north shore of Winterspring (outside the zone
proper, over the mountains) called the Sun Darter Hatchling. You need a
lot of weird items to get past the barriers and guardians, such as
winterfall firewater, dire brew from Blackrock Depths, Noggenfogger
elixir, a perky pug with a princess costume, and a bunch of alchemical
potions. How people figured that out in the first place I'll never
understand, but with those all in hand I went in and got me the pet,
very pretty
I got that done on wednesday, the day of the patch; part of the patch
was getting 4 new backpack slots if you had an authenticator and sms
protect attached to your account. I did not have the latter, but added
it quickly on tuesday so I'd have the slots immediately  Very
useful for all those items I needed to carry. 15 slots required in
total.
And then there's one more riddle-series for a mount, which is the
biggest and most complicated one. The Lucid Nightmare requires you to
find a series of notes all over Azeroth, again with very vague clues,
but this time there are also puzzles attached.
In Ulduar you need to turn on a pattern in a grid of lights to make a
specific symbol, in Ahn'Qiraj you need to play a Bewejeled-like game
involving brains, scarabs, tentacles and the like, in Gnomeregan you
need to switch levers to match up with numbers, and in Val'sharah you
need to play a sort of game that involves switching nodes with lines
attached to make all the lines no longer cross each other.
That's a puzzle also tied to an engineering toy and achievement; after
that minigame I'm looking forward to getting that toy for myself, it's
a fun game
And finally there's a maze which is really annoying. Randomized per
player, with identical rooms, the only things different being which
doorways are open and several markers in the shapes of orbs and runes
you have to collect. Add in looping around at off-sets and a random
teleport chamber somewhere in the maze, and you can understand how some
people have spent hours and hours in them trying to figure it out.
But I'm prepared! I know the basic way the maze works after doing some
internet research, I've got an addon which is only moderately useful,
I've got a plan on how to map the thing in an Excel file, and I've made
sure I've got tomorrow afternoon and evening free. By the end of the
day I hope to have the new mount
Got all the previous steps done last night, so I'm all set.
Hmm, what next!
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 6:52 PM
welp. I've sorted skills and there's nothing going on right now
do I want to make something happen or just go play something else?
decisions, decisions
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 6:54 PM
Yes! Argus. I got the final class hall mission done, and then all the
little storylines up to kill Argus, clearing the Antorus raid and
delivering Illidan's message crystal to Malfurion and Tyrande in
Val'sharah, before dumping it at the shore of Lake Hyjal with one final
message from Illidan. This truly wraps up the Argus storyline, and with
the new patch this week I'll be able to cruise right into the last part
of the Legion story, with the Silithus stuff.
Also on Argus: I got to exalted with Army of the Light as well as
Argussian Reach, giving me 7 new mounts from those factions. One of
them, the Warframe, was very expensive at 500k gold, but worth it. Very
impressive.
I also collected the items needed to summon the Many Faced Devourer, a
mob which you can summon once a day (after completing it once), and can
drop Uuna's Doll, giving a new pet, which has gotten a new storyline
this patch. So now I'll try for that doll once a day.
I also got a pet drop from one of the rares, Ataxon, so can cross that
off the list; and I finally got my last mount from the fel-spotted
eggs, called the Scintillating Mana Ray, but which we've dubbed the
Mustard Ray for its color scheme  Not only is it a nice mount,
but also it means I can stop farming the darned eggs. Still got 4 in my
inventory which I'll keep until they hatch, but there's no longer
anything useful I can get from them.
I'll start farming some other rares daily for new pets and toys!
So yeah, at the end of all the Argus stuff and other projects, I'm now
at 95 exalted factions (the current maximum for me) and 295 mounts.
Almost at 300, and still a few to go in this expansion, so I'm sure
I'll get there for the achievement
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 7:01 PM
More raiding progress, with our first heroic Kin'garoth kill! Nothing
left but the 4 bossfights at the burning throne, so we'll go there next.
and finally, got some more 5-man achievements done! Only 3 remaining
now for the meta-achievement and mount; one in Maw of Souls which is
rather big and requires other instances to be done before that, I
think; one in Court of Stars which appears to be completely random; and
one in Black Rook Hold that requires finding a bunch of pages, but
that's soloable, which I'll do after I get the other 2.
And that's my news for this week!
ArienV - Last Sunday at 7:03 PM
Well done and congratulations
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 7:03 PM
Quite a lot done this week, and quite a bit to show for it, even though
I'm done to under 150k gold

And thank you!

Yet another Starcraft II quest in Heroes of the Storm, that's like my
fourth in a week. Well, more sergeant hammer to play! Still loving it
vs AI, got a rather nutty siege mode build.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 7:32 PM
heh, I haven't touched that in ages
aaand I'm bored
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 7:57 PM
gonna head back into WoW, check some world quests, and some Argus rares.
At least no more eggs

They Are Billions
They Are Billions is a strategy game in a distant future about building
and managing human colonies after a zombie apocalypse destroyed almost
all of human kind. Now there are only a few thousand humans left alive
that must struggle to survive un...

Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:14 PM
Strategy vs zombies? Looks like fun!
I've often thought that zombie apocalypses were rather silly. Assuming
the accuracy of small groups of survivors being able to fight off
hordes and hordes of zombies, it seems unlikely that with an organized
military effort those same zombies would ever gain a foothold in the
first place.
Unless the widespread infection occurs a long, long time before the
zombies actually rise up, of course, and you'd have billions from 0 in
the blink of an eye.
But simple zombie-to-human infection would never work.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 8:36 PM
oh, clearly
and you have a food issue as well.
there's no way a major zombie outbreak lasts longer than a few
weeks
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:37 PM
Depending on whether they actually need to feed to survive, or is it
simply a drive they have.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 8:37 PM
well, if they don't get nutrients, their muscles will break down
and then they won't be a threat anyways
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:37 PM
True.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 8:37 PM
unless they are magic zombies
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:38 PM
well, then anything goes
Varda - Last Sunday at 8:38 PM
Sign: Don't feed the zombies.
No-magic zone.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 8:38 PM
magic zombies can do whatever theyt like, so that becomes uninteresting
to think about, of course
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:38 PM
yep
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 8:39 PM
well, let's try 60% on the new map
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:39 PM
good luck!

I will stream it so you can see what it's like
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:40 PM

it out!
Varda - Last Sunday at 8:41 PM
You bet.
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 8:42 PM
well that's not a great start..
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:45 PM
Looking at that just reminds me how long it's been since I've played a
full-size strategy game like one of the Warcrafts, Age of Empires,
Total Annihilation, etc. Just the look of that map and buildings and
units makes me nostalgic.
Red Alert, Impossible Creatures...
..actually, I have been playing some Starcraft II quick training games,
of course... but still the feel seems different.
This one feels more organic, like a lot of those other games.
anyway, namarie!
Pallando-Valar - Last Sunday at 8:54 PM
welp, gg
somehow a zombie snuck past me
